A very fun atmosphere, with live music!! I was surprised that the restaurant was as quiet as it was on a Saturday night. We sat in the bar and had a very difficult time getting served. It seemed strange because all the servers were hunched around a table texting and not paying attention to the customers. Eventually, the bartender assisted. But it was very frustrating. The breeze and view up here are wonderful! Lots of daiquiri available and I was pleasantly surprised that not all of them are super sweet. Most of them can be ordered with a souvenir cup, including some of the beers. We also ordered a snack of blackened fish which was delicious. Service was great at the bar. We come here (to both this and the Venice location) every time we vacation out here. The coolie cups with happy hour discount are a fantastic deal. All the daiquiri flavors are super good. There was a bit of a rainstorm on my arrival day ,so I walked across the street from my condo ,to find Justin working at the lower bar ,near the outdoor game area. What seemed like a washed out evening ,quickly became a lot of fun ,talking with this engaging and helpful young man. I really like their Rum and Coca Cola daiquiri, thanks to his suggestion. We talked about living north and south and why he needed to come down and visit TEXAS soon ,to enjoy my state. We had eaten at the original DD years ago, but this was our first visit here. Even though it was a Saturday night, it was not crowded and we were seated immediately. We had the Hurricane Nachos with beef added and they were fantastic. I had a bowl of the tomato bisque soup and for an entree the crab cake BLT. I loved them both. Wife had the coconut shrimp. She also had 2 mixed drinks, the Venice Vice and the Decksicle--she loved them both. I had 2 Landshark drafts which came in a souvenir glass. Service was friendly, informative and efficient. We visited on a slow Wednesday night and ordered the shrimp po boy and lobster pasta. The po boy was flavorful and had 6 shrimp (could have been more for the money) $19. Stopped for lunch on our way to our airbnb in Siesta Key. This is a great location right off the main road going onto the island. It is an upstairs (as name states upper "deck"). It was a little windy today so the canvas was closed but on cool calm days they're open with incredible views of the beach. We were a party of 5 and walked right in at 11:45 on Wednesday and walked right in. No wait. Great service. Kayle was such a sweetheart. Authentic upselling without it feeling pushy or uncomfortable. We had the loaded bloody's for our meals! Came with chicken tender, hard boiled egg, 2 shrimp, pickles, olives, lemons and giant piece of maple bacon. Incredible! We ordered kids meal mini hots dogs and the grouper bites for the table. The kids meals come on branded frisbees that the kids get to take home. Solid marketing strategy and the kids loved them! But it was a ghost town at 7:00 on a weekday evening. My mom and I were one of two parties by the time we left. Service: despite how empty it was, we had to flag our waitress down every time we wanted something. Drinks: if two people who don't consume alcohol often can walk home unaffected after two drinks each and not have any hangovers... your drinks have to be WEAK. We stopped here after being at the beach. We had high hopes even though we knew the reviews were 3.5 stars. My crab cake could not be called a crab cake. It was filling of what tasted like bread crumbs w 3-5 small pieces of crab. When it arrived I lifted the top bun and there were 3 small "dots" of their sauce. I tasted the crab cake and it was dry. I asked for more sauce and the waitress never said there is an extra charge of $1.75 for 1 tbsp of sauce. She brought the sauce and I ate it because I was starving. It wasn't good. If you want a real crab cake w actual lump crab meat go to Maryland or another place to eat. In addition, it was 1/2 off drinks. We got 1 pina colada $4.50. She asked if we wanted a Bacardi blk thinking it was a part of the drink. It was a tube of extra rum for the drink. I tasted the drink prior to putting the extra rum in and it was weak. Once I put the extra rum in it actually tasted good. No surprise that extra was $4.00 which she never told us about the up charge. It must be nice to offer items to customers, letting them think it is part of the drink or mean, only to find it's all at an extra cost. The waitress never came to our table to check on us or refill our water glasses and they were not busy at all. She was sure to leave the alcohol drink menu on our table. This place is great. The atmosphere is fun and you could take your family here. They have TVs all over with sports on which makes it fun for all the sports fans. The service was great with refilling drinks and we got our food fairly quick. Everyone loved their food and slushies.
