so they moved into a new place where every business has failed but besides that it's in a horrible spot with no parking and I just drove by and they've taken over the sidewalk with cones saying loading zone only. they are blocking the sidewalk and telling people that they cannot park on a public street in front of their business. edit-true not blocking, but rather obstructing. anyways please do not make a bad traffic spot worse by trying to limit parking. if it is for a delivery i get it but no way can you think people should park there. from what i have seen you are a good guy. thanks for responding. read more

Just had my 26 yr. old mountain bike serviced at The Bike Palace. It's a Trek Y5 which I've had for over 20 years and can I just say I'm impressed and in love with this bike again. The guys did an amazing job with a tune up, new cassette and chain. This bike has never ridden so well. It's like they gave my bike a redbull. She's got wings!!! The first incident they routed my internal brake lines the wrong way. And the bike was filthy with grease everywhere and my brakes were squeezing. (Had to clean it myself for the squeaks to go away. I recently had a shift cable snap on my road bike. I did what any local cyclist would do, I went straight to The Bike Palace. I've always found the mechanics/technicians and the sales individuals to be friendly and honest, most important their work is on point and the pricing is fair. This time around I worked with Tony at the front desk, who is super friendly and even asked me a few questions about my bike set-up which resulted in me making some adjustments. My repairs and adjustments were done by Giovanni, who did a great job, once again, my bike runs like new. Brought in my rear E-bike wheel with hub motor, explained to lady at counter that I was getting a motor failure error message on the display after replacing a worn electrical cable. She informed me that I would need to bring the entire bike in for them to service it. Re-assembled bike, purchased a bike rack and returned to store 3 days later. 2nd employee said we can't diagnose/service it but if I'd bring it back with a new motor they would install it. Will be buying a new bike but not from Bike Palace. Time wasters. read more

He attached my bike stand for me and attached my back blinker lights Nick was also very helpful and knowledgeable about my bike and it's accessories (bike lock, head lights). I took my bike in for a brake repair and tire truing and they did it, that's all I can say. Staff is very unfriendly and do not make you feel as if they want your money. Ontop of that when I picked my bike up they didn't even inflate the tire! It was at 35 psi when I picked it up without a cap on the presta valve. Yesterday I called 25-30 bikes shops (yes really!) around the Los Angeles area looking for a Globe Daily bike. None of the shops I called even had a Globe bike, let alone the model I was looking for until Bike Palace! They had the exact model, the exact color, and the step through girl version that I wanted. We drove down to San Pedro and started searching around the shop- and there was the bike of my dreams! Seriously. Sergio is amazing and totally hooked me up! He didn't try to push the bike on me but helped in every possible way. The bike was a size medium and a little tall for me so he lowered the seat and I was good to go. After riding the bike back and forth down an alley about a zillion times I decided yes, I'm going to do it. I'm going to buy this bike! Now here is where it gets awesome- Sergio gave me a huge discount "for coming so far" and also for being like 1/2 an inch too short for a medium bike (but not really too short at all!). $85 off their price for the bike.. and over $100 off the MSRP on the internet! Oh my god!! I got a helmet, a lock, and a basket too.. all discounted! In total I saved over $110 in the store.. and even more when compared to other shops that didn't have the bike but wanted to sell it to me before I even sat on the thing! This shop is an hour away from where I live and I would not hesitate to go back to this place in a second. Like I said.. I called 25-30 bike shops and Bike Palace was the only place that carried what I wanted at a super discounted price! I love Bike Palace forever! read more

I bought a used bicycle on the market place and it needed a tuneup. When I brought the bike in I was told that it would be about a week to 10 days before it was ready because they were incredibly busy with Christmas bike builds. I was told to expect a call if the bike needed parts. I got impatient after a few days and called to check on the status. The gentleman I spoke with told me that they were really busy but that they would try to get it ready asap. Holy smoke! It was ready the next day!!! 10/10. The shop was extremely busy when I went to pick up the bike and I was asked multiple times if I had been helped. Such a lovely and attentive staff. They really seem to care about their customers and the health of their business. Give these folks a chance, I don't think you will be sorry. read more

I wanted a Trek but got something similar, same price range. WOW this bike is comfortable. He was very knowledgeable and told me all about their tune up service that is included. Most bikes hurt my shoulder, this one does not and the stock seat is very comfortable. Shop local and go see Nick! Thank you for another great experience. I have very minor reviews...because I'm never pissed to the point that I feel it necessary to write a review. But, this establishment is downright crooked. I post this to throw a warning against shady business practices. I recently visited and purchased roughly 120$ in bicycle product ( A new chain, new tires, and new helmet) the tires I bought were overpriced as they were 35$ each for specialized espoir tires. Whereas I can buy the continental gator skin tires on amazon for 65$ for a pair. I'm not complaining as much on this aspect because I am about supporting the Local Bicycle Store. My complaint is in this - it has been a week since the purchase and the chain was installed here. Since then my chain was skipping and I know that it was a derailleur issue. I am not nearly as adept at the adjustments as the technicians here. Again, some type of praise for a place that's entire intent is to rip you off. A man at the front asked if I had purchased the chain there, I responded yes. Then I explained my problem and he said, "take it to the back." A technician then proceeded to adjust my derailleur and spent a total of 3 minutes adjusting it. It works great now. The point of contention now is as soon as that's done The technician says "that'll be 15$ even." My protest is immediate, the implication was I had purchased and had previous things installed and they would do the slight 3 minute adjustment. The implication was not that I would be charged. I was not quoted a price and work was done without ever mentioning that a charge would be issued. THAT IS SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICE BY ANY MEANS. The response I got was, "How do you expect for us to stay in business?" I left after they quickly conceded without mentioning the fact that they full well know that this is an inappropriate way to conduct business. Furthermore, I now know exactly how they expect to stay in business. I don't ever suggest frequenting this establishment. read more

I was visiting my folks and noticed my Dad's walker had a brake issue. I thought a bike place might be able to address it. Called Bike Palace- spoke with Jose who was so helpful and inviting on the phone. He seemed confident he could solve the issue and at a reasonable price too. Sure enough I brought the walker in. Jose wasn't there but the technician Emerson masterfully and efficiently fixed it. Jennifer (sweet as can be) processed my payment and also told me another colleague double checked to ensure it was working properly (reassuring to me) and sent me on my way. Really a nice experience. I took my Trek Fuel FX 8 to reconstruct its rear shock absorber. They quoted $140 and said it will be ready next week. The bike wasn't ready for another 6 weeks, not once did they call to let me know the status or at least say sorry, even once!! To add insult to injury, when went to pick up the bike, they asked for $265! So I told them I will not pay more than their original quote, they made me wait for another 20 minutes calling the owner and came back saying "ok, pay $160" and wouldn't let me take it out for anything less. BTW, they hadn't even bothered giving the bike a little wipe... a wild experience, STAY AWAY!!! read more

The contact with Tony, Jose and Nick was so good (really kind, helpful and honest people), that the next day I came back to buy a second bike for myself (even though it was not an urgent matter for me to get a new bike). In the end, I got 2 great bikes, 2 great deals (300$ total discount) from a great place that will take good care of our bikes from here on, if needed. They have the problem of plenty - plenty of business right now in our Covid world, but not enough time to listen when taking a customer work order...not enough time to ask the right questions to determine what work they should do (you could have made more $)...or to review the work order to manage my expectations...not enough time to call me when the bike was ready (I had to call to find out the work was done 12 days later). I have been loyal to the Palace, until now. I'm glad they are busy, but customer service means everything - to the customer and the business. read more

Came to Bike Palace 8/23/18 ready to purchase a $2,0000 e-bike. My friend & I waited for assistance for several mins but no one responded. I asked a worker (w/long hair) for help; he was working on a bike so he asked another worker, Jonathan, to help me. Another customer came in after we had been there at least 15 mins now, and Jonathan waited on him instead of helping me. They chatted socially for several mins. about issues unrelated to service, repair or sales. I made eye contact with Jonathan several times but he just continued to have a social chat with the customer who came in after me, and continued to ignore me. If I could give a negative number of stars, I'd do it. BEWARE of this place. I took the front wheel of my 10 speed in to have a flat repaired. The guy in the back where they do the repairs beckoned me over and I told him I needed a repair. He said no problem, took the wheel and removed the tire and then the tube. He hung the tube on some hook he had there and asked me if I wanted the same type of tube. I said, "Aren't you going to try to patch the one you just took off?" He said, no, they don't carry patches. I'm not prepared for this. My mind hadn't prepared me to "dicker" on a goddamn flat repair. So I just said,"oh, okay," and he proceeded to pull a box off the shelf, pull out a new tube, insert it into the tire, replace it on the wheel, and then inflate it to the proper PSI. Total time: less than 3 minutes. He then takes the wheel up to the register and I follow and he asks me how I'm going to pay. I ask, "How much?" and he tells me $25.50. This number surprised me, but I didn't say anything; I just gave him the money and walked out with the wheel. Way too much. I remember about two years ago, maybe three, I had a similar experience over in Palos Verdes. I took my wheel with a flat into a bike store just like this one. The guy repaired the flat in just a few minutes, but I watched as he tested my tube for a hole in a bucket of water he had near his repair bench as he chatted with me. I remember him saying something like "There it is," and then taking the tube out, drying it off, putting some sort of solution by the hole, placing a patch over the spot, and then putting it back inside the tire, inflating it, and giving it back to me. Quick. He charged me 5 bucks. That was it. FIVE dollars. I gave him the 5 bucks and walked out to my bike, put it back in place, and continued my ride for that day. As a matter of fact, now that I'm thinking about it, I had an almost identical experience when I was in Carson City, Nevada about 10 years ago. Quick fix, 5 bucks. But they don't work that way at the Bike Palace. This little guy in the back just figured he could grab 25 bucks from me and that I'd never say anything about it. He was right. I accepted it. And I admit here, in writing, that it was my fault that I walked out off there pissed off to the Nth degree because I should have asked how much it would cost BEFORE I gave him my wheel for repair. So for those who read comments on Yelp....... BEWARE of this place. For me....... if I EVER have another flat on my bike while riding around in San Pedro, I'll drive to PV in a UBER before I'd go back to this place. read more

Tony and his employees at The Bike Palace were super helpful in the purchase of my first road bike. They're very knowledgeable, have a wide variety and selection of bikes to fit your needs, and are willing to listen to what your needs are, and find the right bike to fit your life. Since purchasing my Specialized Diverge from them a couple years ago, I've also gone back periodically for bike fit, and other minor maintenance needs. You get a small discount if you purchase your bike with them, and the shop also hosts a couple local regular rides, and know a lot of info about the surrounding South Bay bike community. I don't work/live in the area anymore, but when I can, I still hit them up just to see what new products they've got in. Great group of people who have been in the community and for the community for a long time. Support them! read more

Received a over the phone quote on a Shimano St-shifter, drove 25 miles upon arrival spoke to the owner telling me the part is $45 more than the quoted price. At this point I'm paying more than new retail price for a used part. To each their own and can run their business as they please but please dnt waste my time on quotes you are not going to honor. Bought a kids bike with training wheels and when I went to adjust the height of the seat I noticed whoever put it together stripped the Allen screw and this we can't adjust the height of the seat. Ok so my update ... I went back to pick up bike . They had it in order . I wanted to increase the star status because one of the guys there went beyond the call of duty and was able to work something for my bike that was out of order all over the U.S . Thanks to his engineering skills he was able to put an adapter on it making it work and decreased the overall cost .I appreciate that. I can't even quantify how much the fitting increased my comfort and performance on the bike. If you need a bike fitting, you can't go wrong by going to The Bike Palace. This shop is an official Specialized and Cannondale retailer. They have high-end models (S-Works everything) as well as more affordable options available. They also have a large selection of cruiser and commuter bikes, as well as mountain bikes and I think they might have some electric bikes too. They look like a batch of Hells Angels but they're extremely kind. They don't floss or talk down to you. Most important, they know what they're talking about. I ended up buying a Specialized RockHopper 29'er from them. I've been back four times to buy equipment and accessories. The funny thing is, I live next-door to a bike shop 15 miles away.
