I was really worried when I got the car because I know how expensive BMW's can be to work on, let alone a V12 that is over 20 yrs old. I called the day before to get an overdue oil change on my 328i and they were able to squeeze me in the next mornning. When i got there, Anil had helped me and let me know that the service was gonna take about 30 mins and that there was a good cafe up the street. By the time i got back, my car was ready to go. I recently acquired a 540i which had a bad coolant leak. I called Auto Analysts II because I thought the pricing would be much better than closer to my home. I had my Bimmer towed in. Auto Analysts did the coolant pressure test and found that the coolant expansion tank was cracked. Anil called me and gave me a quote by phone which I felt was on the high side. I called the local 5-Star YELP shop in San Ramon and got a quote $80 less. In light of this new found information, I asked Anil if he could give me a break on the rate. "No, we charge book rate of 30 minutes for diagnosis and 1.4 hours to replace the tank plus part and coolant". I responded that I had the factory BMW coolant in the trunk and he stated that he could discount that portion. I show up to what is an old abandoned gas station turned into a BMW repair facility. I find that the quote was back to the original quote and that the tech had used the shop coolant. It must have been green because coolant left on my bumper was not wiped off when I arrived home. Now, I am not complaining about the work itself but I feel as a first time customer, a little more attention to customer concerns should be considered to build loyalty. Details such as cleaning the coolant off of the bumper before returning the car to the customer should not have been missed. I have been to Edge in Dublin and Performance Technic in P-Town and they have always gone above and beyond the customer's expectations. Checking other things for free such as suspension and other wear items to let customer know what to expect down the road. All in all three stars is fair. read more

Called the shop for a few maintenance items on my '99 328i. During the call, was pleased to hear all the work would be done in one day (oil change, rotate & balance tires, flush steering fluid, replace both drive belts, replace spark plugs). Anil (owner) was very nice, very kind and pleasant, and made the experience as painless as possible (I loathe auto maintenance). Two days later, the car wouldn't start, and had the symptoms of a dead battery. I called Anil, and he said whenever I could get it in would be fine. Fortunately I was able to jump it with our other car, and Anil had me in and out with a new battery (and no appointment) in 25 minutes. And, their prices are very reasonable. When I moved back to the Bay Area from LA in 2005 I had to find an honest mechanic to work on my BMW since my warranty had expired. A friend recommended calling Auto Analysts in Castro Valley and I've been taking my 2002 here for the past seven years. As any BMW owner without a warranty knows, there's much maintenance that pops up over the years, especially with the electrical components. In the beginning I'd take my car to at least 2-3 other shops to get a price quote and Auto Analysts were ALWAYS considerably lower in cost and the staff there are not only pleasant to deal with, they explain the possibilities, the processes, and the outcome. I really trust these guys and they have never failed me. I normally don't drive my M3 very much, because it's a special car. But it feels so good after they service it, that I just can't help myself. It feels better every time I drive it. I've been taking my 2004 330ci to these guys for about 4 years now. They have consistently demonstrated themselves to be very knowledgeable, indeed, enthusiastic about BMWs, and honest. I have about 130,000 miles on my bimmer now, so there have been several maintenance issues ranging from simple oil changes and inspections to cooling system failures. I recently took her in to address a faulty oil level indicator sensor. They replaced it and changed the oil. After about a week, I noticed that the indicator light flickered on intermittently while at idle. I called Anil and told him about this and he asked what color the light was, if it was red that was probably a bad pressure sensor. I didn't know that this particular idiot light was capable of emitting different colors, and since I'm color blind, I was oblivious to the difference anyway. So, I took the car back in to have the oil pressure looked at. I also asked him to give the ol' girl a "once over" since I was planning a road trip. They checked the oil pressure and it was fine, they replaced the sensor, and gave everything a look to make sure nothing else was about to fail. NO CHARGE! And the errant indicator is no more. This sort of thing just doesn't happen very often these days. These guys are probably the best, most trustworthy mechanics I have ever dealt with... period. read more

Anil has no customer service skill and he is very rude to deal with. I took my BMW to his shop for diagnostic, and he told me he needed it for a day. When I tried to get clarification on the time he needed my car at his shop he blew up and told me I can take my business elsewhere and he did not want to work on my car. Strange, I have not seen this kind of custormer service in modern day businesses. I won't recommend this shop to anyone. read more

I was looking for a good mechanic to service my 1994 Volvo when a friend told me about Anil at Auto Analyst II . I drove there , and saw a sign specializing in Volvos. My car was repaired professionally at a decent cost. When my car was ready to be picked up, Anil asked why my radio wasn't working. I have to add my praise to all the others about Auto Analysts II. Anil and his team are so easy to work with and so helpful. I recently took my 2007 335I to the dealer for inspection. Their analysis included suspension and oil system work totaling over $4800. After reading about AA II here I called and asked Anil to review the estimate. His initial assessment was $2300 for the same work! I had him do the suspension first, paying under $700 for work the dealer estimated at $2000. While completing that he also inspected the oil system. He didn't believe it needed the extensive repair the dealer had recommended. Bottom line...my car is now completely repaired for under $1300. I can't believe it took me so long to find this wonderful repair shop that is within walking distance of my home! I will continue to bring my car to Anil for as long as I have it; which now will be for many more years. read more
