My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and I adore this place. Super fine dining atmosphere and the food is 5 star. Very fresh and high quality ingredients. Super delicious. We ordered artichoke fritters which were very tasty. Not too greasy and sauce had very complementary spice to go with the subtle flavor of the fritter. Then we ordered the chicken and lobster, which we liked the best, it really was outstanding in flavor oh my goodness! And we also ordered the mushroom spinach lasagna added grilled chicken which was also super yummy. Then we ordered white chocolate raspberry cheesecake which was insanely amazing. Perfect creamy texture and the flavor was out of this world. And it was pretty cheap for all the food we ordered. Definitely will be coming back here! read more

Went here the Friday night for the first time. The service was very good, the bread and olive oil mixture they brought out was awesome. The atmosphere is nice. They have remodeled an older house into a restaurant, there was soft live piano music, and a romatic, modern feel. We got the antipasto which was also very good quality and had a great taste. The blue cheese was especially good on the platter. The menu items are pretty typical modern american-italian fare with a few new choices, but they do use fresh local ingredients from what I understand, and their menu changes seasonally. My lobster ravioli was very good, not too rich, but very tasty. My fiance's ribeye was cooked perfectly and was some of the best tasting ribeye I have ever had. That sauce on the steak had a strong mushroom flavor and was very rich for a brown sauce, but was also very good. They even cut the potatoes in to the shape of little mushrooms. An interesting touch that really made the dish feel specially prepared. Dessert was also very good. We had the layered reaspberry parfait, which was an amazingly light but sweet finish to the meal. It was the perfect after dinner touch since we were already quite full. Overall a great place with food that has been prepared so that you can tell a lot of care was put into it, and you can taste the fresh ingredients. I was very excited to try this Bosnian restuarant, recommended by a local who is in charge of multicultural affairs in the City of Bowling Green! So many daily specials the server needed a cheat sheet and had my mouth watering before the end. Tough choices had to be made-- love that there was a good mix of seafood and everything else. The crab beignets were just amazing! Puff pastry outside with crab meat inside and came with a lemon that went nicely over the top. I had a caesar salad to go with my appetizer. When the salmon dishes arrived for other members of the party it looked equally amazing, as did the hot brown, which was recommended by another local. Our whole group of 9 cleaned our plates completely. The service was excellent! Can't wait to go back. read more

What a find! We were midst and long I-65 drive and found Bowling Green was in our "lunch window." Yelp helped us find The Bistro and wow, were we impressed. It's a unique restaurant in an old home. No strip mall here. There is no cook...there's a CHEF! The food was fantastic as was the server. We ate like a king and queen, and tipped accordingly. Check it out. read more

Delicious! Seafood fritters were tasty and fun. Beet, goat cheese, pear, walnuts and greens salad was a taste sensation. We both had the salmon which was perfectly prepared over fresh linguini dressed with lemon caper butter and a side of seasonal vegis. It was incredible. There were many specials to choose from, but we were set on salmon. Glad we made this decision. We come into BG about three times a year and have been pleased with the Bistro every time we visit. First time for both my date and me eating here. They had a charred old-fashioned that was probably the best old-fashioned I've ever had! And I make my own old-fashioned's at home. We had the meat board for an appetizer, which was great! The only thing I recommend them adding to it, is a spicy brown mustard. I had the Ribeye and my date had the Scallops Carbonara, both of which were DELICIOUS! Our server was Chloe, and she was amazing as well! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I would say this is the best restaurant in Bowling Green. Great farm to table restaurant with creative takes on classic cuisine. The staff here does a great job accommodating any requests and it is always a welcoming atmosphere. This is a BG restaurant you cannot miss! Yay, finally, yay! A nice little Italian restaurant tucked away. Definitely date-worthy. We dressed up, but unfortunately were the only people who actually made an effort. Anyway, you wouldn't want to wear gym shorts and tank top to this place. Surprisingly, my grilled salmon was good! (Didn't taste frozen!) My date had the lobster ravioli but I'm no sure whether that's the best he had. The place was cute, I guess that's the best word to describe it. It's a little dark and I wasn't sure what kind of style the restaurant was trying to achieve (in terms of decorations, not food). Desserts were creme brulee and something with Bailey's. read more

One of Bowling Green's best. I sat at the bar with a very accommodating bar tender who was very attentive. Good selections of libations including whiskey, IPA and other spirits. For the foodie in me the BBQ pork sliders were on point, the crab beignet was great and my entree of the Rosemary Shrimp hit the mark. Wanted to find a nice place to take my grandparents for lunch and The Bistro's reviews made it an easy choice. None of us had ever been so we were very excited and were NOT disappointed. Between the atmosphere, food, and service we all left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. I will dream about the crab beignets tonight and the salmon crab cake was sent straight from heaven. April, our server, was SO knowledgable about the menu and the restaurant. She made great recommendations and helped shape our experience so much. The Bistro used to be our favorite go to place for birthday dinners...but no more....I mean it's ok, but not excellent....and here's why....if you purchase something like scallops, rabbit, Halibut, New York Strip steak special, your meals will swim in sauces that are way too rich, there is no need to use that much sauce, unless someone asks for it? I mean, paint a little on the plate, but don't put so much on the plate that your food is saturated with it...yuck...awful....I worked the food business for over 20 years and in some of the most top rated sophisticated establishments....The Bistro has a lot going for it, if they'd just cut back on the sauces and use it for decorations and not saturate the food in it...a little goes a long way...other wise, it's a great meal...but we (the 5 of us) cannot deal with all that sauce. It's clean, the wait staff is awesome...and for the most part, the food is pretty good...I'll go back but will be weary of ordering anything that requires sauce, or ask them not to use it at all on my food order. read more

Great flavors of food and really nice presentation. The duck confit was superb; seafood pasta excellent. Also had the Mathilda salad which was very good. After-dinner coffee tasted 'burnt', as if it had sat in the pot too long. But, the chocolate mousse cake made up for it. It was really good. Highly recommend the Bistro. read more

Nothing to brag about. Came through town, stopped at The Bistro for dinner. Service wasn't the quickest, considering the restaurant was less than half full, but we didn't mind. However, when we got our food, my chicken was super rough and dry, my risotto far overcooked, my partner's "red wine mushroom ragu" seemed quite similar to canned mushroom gravy, and polenta had no flavor. The sauces on both dishes were fairly tasty though. All in all, a mediocre experience. For the price per entree, I wouldn't return. read more

On a sleepy Sunday morning looking for a place to have breakfast/brunch, we roamed around downtown and found many recommended places closed... and stumbled upon The Bistro. Nice find. Incredible crab cakes eggs benedict, the best bread I've had in town and bottomless coffee.. which all made for a nice leisurely meal. Simply Divine. The service is prompt, courteous, and smart. Our waitress, Chrissy, did very well and was knowledgeable about the menu. The food is delicious. We had the bacon wrapped dates (sweet and rich) and the crab beignets (excellent) for an appetizer. I had the Black Truffle Pork Tenderloin for the entree; simply out of this world. The house-made bread pudding was delicious and sweet but had hints of the fruit and nuts which made it more flavorful. The temperature of the food was always on point as well. The decor is CLEAN! Very clean indeed. The seats are comfortable and the tables and nicely finished in dark wood with some having inlays of marble. I would DEFINITELY go back! I loved it! read more

Growing up eating delicious Chicago pizza on a regular basis, it is hard to find good pizza outiside the Chicagoland area. However, one of my friends lives in Bowling Green and recommended ordering the Chicago style pizza with some extra marinara on the side. Oh my goodness, this pizza was delicious! It was like this strange deep dish/thin crust mutant that made my stomach sing with glee. We ordered it simple, with mushrooms as the only additional topping. I'm not sure of other dishes outside of the pizza as this seems to be a favorite amongst the group I was with. When/if I'm ever in Bowling Green again, I'll be sure to make a stop for more pizza. read more

The menu didn't explain the food very well so I had to send my plate back: the sandwich I ordered came with this gross sauce that the menu hadn't even mentioned. The food was very good. At the table, we had an entree, a pasta, and a salad -- all very good. The service was very friendly and prompt. There was also a half-off martini special (yay!) the night we were there. I would disagree with Krissy C, though, that The Bistro is romantic. I went with my parents for which this was the perfect place -- quiet, well lit. However, The Bistro could do more for the date crowd by sprucing up the one large eating areas with some light fixtures or less random art. All in all, though, great dinner for the BG. read more

Started with the Sazerac cocktail, which was good(very strong) and the crab beignets which were wonderful, but I would prefer a bit more of the tart sauce that came with them, to balance the richness of the beignets. I had the scallop stuffed salmon special and it was cooked perfectly. Accompanying sides were also perfectly paired and flavor was wonderful. My server could not have been nicer and really made the meal even better. There are so many wonderful dishes on the menu, so I cannot wait to return. read more
