They couldn't care less. We wanted to eat here based on the promising reviews. When you walk in, the sign says "please do not sit at tables that aren't cleared." Unfortunately every single empty table was filled with dirty dishes. Several servers working but only one person bussing tables. Staff walked by, no acknowledgment, no "we will be right with you." Just empty glances like "whatever, we couldn't care less." When we asked if we should just take a seat, the server shrugged and didn't respond. The person bussing the tables was in no hurry to even clear one table, so we assumed they didn't want our business and walked out. Sad but true story here. read more

Stopped by on the way to bowling green Harley for lunch. Had a small wait but we were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was good at first but once we got our food there were no refills to be had. I had the chili which was supposed to be first but came out with the meal. It was homemade and it was okay. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it wasn't shredded and it was fatty. Ir looked like it was a roasted pork made in a pot. It was just okay. The Mac and cheese was plain. Overall it was an okay meal. I wished I would have gotten breakfast which looked better. read more

The food is good and the service was too. They did try to tack on an upcharge for the eggs, which should no longer be happening. We asked them to remove the extra charge and they did, but were laughing about it behind the counter. Probably won't go back just because of that. read more

Motor City has lost many customers because of the lack of seating for larger groups (5+) and they will have many tables with signs on them that don't allow you to sit at them so people walk out and you can't push tables together because they have different servers (that seems like a management issue to me). I really don't think that Doug realizes there are many other places to eat in Bowling Green and they are always glad to take our money. Doug I think you need to start running your restaurant instead of letting the servers call the shots if you can't do that I don't look for Motor City to be around much longer. My little "Breakfast Club" group will not be dining with you any longer and that is regretful since we have been eating there for many, many years. read more

I went Saturday afternoon. There weren't many people there and my experiences there before had been ok. There were four in our party. We ordered our food and I went to use restroom, there was a dirty rag in the sink and there were no paper towels to dry hands. The rest room looked like a truck stop rest room. We waited a hour before we asked about our food and was told by the waitress that the owner (she said was in kitchen) couldn't give her an update. After 30 more minutes we asked for our bills for 2 waters and 2 sweet teas. They did void those bills and the waitress was polite and very apologetic. She explained the owner had told her to stop asking about the meals! I left her a tip and told her I understood it wasn't her fault. I felt the owner was rude and the restaurant was NASTY! read more

This place sucks!! We arrived and nobody bothered to let us know that it's seat yourself. We waited 10 minutes before someone just walked in and sat down in front of 10 people who were waiting. Once we finally found a table it took us 15 minutes to get a waitress. The one we got wasn't even assigned to us. After ordering we had to wait 40 minutes for drinks. This place needs to get its management together before I come back here. I would stay away from this place. read more

We love coming here for breakfast. They have a full bar and I can get a Bloody Mary with my omelette. Great diner food.

My husband and I went to breakfast at Doug's on July 5. It's a diner by day and (based on the decor) a biker bar at night. We arrived and were told we could sit at any open table. We were given menus and then ordered Country Fried Steak with hash browns and eggs. The meal was AMAZING! Everything was freshly prepared for us. When we drove up, we were reticent about eating here (something about the atmosphere made us uneasy, but we couldn't discern the reason). Shortly, you will understand why we felt uneasy. So, 1 person in our party persuaded us to ignore the feeling and give it a try. We were greeted by seemingly genuine smiles and given a choice of seating for 5. Our server was very attentive and welcoming so we began to relax a little. Our party of 5 had ordered food before I spied a Confederate Battle Flag hanging on the wall behind the bar under a TV. That's the reason we felt uneasy when we drove up and parked. NEEDLESS to SAY, Immediately I wanted to leave. I didn't care that we had ordered already. History Lesson: The Confederate Battle Flag represents the history of bigotry, intimidation and murder imparted upon Black people when that flag was flown. Even though historically, there were at least 4 other flags that the Confederate States of America used and flew for various occasions, the Confederate Battle Flag (the only one you see flown rural areas of the South) was the ONLY one flown when someone was going to die. Additionally, The Ku Klux Klan used it exclusively to frighten, intimidate and threaten Black people to force us to "stay in our 2nd class" place in society or face death. As a business in this day and age, there is no reason to show that flag unless you do not want certain people (Black people) to enter your establishment and you fervently believe that Black people should have no rights...as the Confederate States and the KKK believed. As I said, I wanted to leave, but our party of 5 had two elderly people (who were not Black). They had just expended a lot of energy to get out of the car, walk (using their canes) to the place, get seated and order food. So, they were not inclined to leave this place and do that again at another place. The four in my party all claimed that the food was good. I could see that portion sizes were abundant, and our service was really good. But I can't tell you how the food tasted (my taste buds left the building, as did my appetite, shortly after I saw the Confederate Battle Flag and I did not want to eat anything from here). We have been coming to Bowling Green for the last three years to visit our daughter at WKU and have eaten many breakfasts. This was the best we have had! We had the Rookie and the biscuits are amazing! They are homemade and not to be missed. Chips were burnt and picante sauce was served in tiny plastic condiment cup. The pulled pork looked like dog food and the salad was not served as appetizer as requested. This place is so so. First the service is atrocious. You walk in and no one greets you. We just assumed we were to seat ourselves, which was accurate. After sitting for a while, in a corner booth, a fellow diner at the next table felt sorry for us and flagged down a waitress. The amount of food you get for the price is good, but the quality is hit or miss. The gravy and biscuit was good. Eggs were cooked spot on. The grits are awful and taste like instant grits. We were in town visiting our friend who just moved down to Bowling Green. He surprised us with Doug's (not much of a surprise) , so we gave it a shot. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the filth in the restaurant. This place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in decades. I ordered a breakfast burrito, and the amount of oil in it was atrocious. Now I see why they call it Motor City, because it looked like an oil change was taking place. French toast was great.
