    Beef Greek Salad
    Jeff D.

Sam's Gyros is a hidden gem tucked into an average looking strip mall in Bowling Green, KY. My big regret about Sam's is that though I've spent months in Bowling Green, I hadn't tried Sam's until last week. Well, after my first visit, it's safe to say I've found one of my new Bowling Green Staples! Because of its nondescript location, it can be easy to overlook Sam's as just another restaurant in a sea of restaurants in a bustling College Town. However you'll find that it's often recommended both online and by locals as one of the ideal spots for a Mediterranean lunch. The menu is refreshingly simple, and offers most (if not all) of the entrees for less than $10. The ingredients are basic, but pack a punch where they're needed the most, taste and value. As a dining experience, it's no-frills, and honestly that's not at all a bad thing. Keto/ Low Carb Folks: I'd recommend going for a Chicken or Beef Greek Salad (It's even advertised as 0 carbs!). While there can certainly be some sneaky carbs in this dish, it easily fits what you're looking for in a Keto Meal. Overall, if you're looking for quick, high-value, low-cost, simple and tasty Mediterranean meal in BG, you owe it to yourself to give Sam's Gyros a try!

Note the hair on the end of my finger. Definitely not mine as I have very long ginger hair.

Anna's Is the Foundation for My Love of Food…read more I first walked into Anna's in 2007 at the old location on Three Springs Rd. I was a 21 y/o small-town Kentucky kid whose culinary range extended to chicken tenders and French fries. I had no real curiosity about other cultures through food. I wasn't looking for adventure. I just wanted dinner. Then I took my first real date there. We ordered the lamb gyro, saganaki, and tzatziki. I still remember that saganaki arriving and the server screaming "OPA!", as it hit the table. That meal changed something in me. It was my first true cultural food experience, and it expanded my imagination in a way I didn't even understand at the time. From that point on, I went almost weekly. Everything Anna touches is gold. There is intention in the flavors, pride in the execution, and warmth in the experience. One night around 2010, I was the only customer in the restaurant. Vilson was serving me. I confidently ordered a White Zinfandel. He laughed and said, "Oh, some sweet tea with a bit of alcohol in it, eh?" Then he brought me a glass of Greek wine on the house instead. That small moment meant more than he probably realized. It was my invitation to GROW. I live in Seattle now. I've become an Elite Yelp reviewer and spend much of my time exploring restaurants, chefs, and cuisines from all around the world. I seek out bold flavors. I travel for food. I write about it constantly. And yet- twice a year, every year, when I return home to Kentucky, there is one place I always make sure to visit: Anna's. Always. Because this is where it started. If you read my Yelp bio, you'll see that saganaki from Anna's has been listed as my "last meal" choice since the day I created my account. That isn't nostalgia. That's impact. Anna and Vilson didn't just open a restaurant. They ignited a lifelong passion in a 21-year-old country boy who didn't know what he was missing. Some restaurants feed you. A few change you. Anna's changed me. Forever grateful.

The waitress was lack luster in personality, we sat down asked for hummus and the young guy with long hair on staff said they didn't have change for a $20 so a 7.99 hummus turned into a 20 dollar bill when he never brought back the $5 my friend said just to bring back as a tip. Then my mom's hummus lamb plate had a clump of hair in the hummus. The staff, "would you like us to remake it or a refund" no I'm sorry not anything to remedy the situation. Between the 5 of us with to go plates was nearly $130 ish. I'm so disappointed and know the owner would be upset with how his staff handled this. My chicken saaj bowl also was lack luster in flavor, I go to another Mediterranean place locally that is way way way more flavor. Hope the owner has a talk with his team about back of the kitchen etiquette so there isn't food in other people's food.

I ordered the ribeye with a side of broccoli, and it was absolute perfection. The steak was cooked exactly as requested, which for me was medium. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will absolutely be returning for another ribeye. The service was equally impressive. Despite our larger group of firefighters and family members, the staff managed everything seamlessly. My drink was never empty, and the attentiveness at the table was consistent throughout the evening. The team delivered a high standard of hospitality with professionalism and efficiency.
