We have always loved Black Molly, but since moving to the new location we haven't been as impressed. The quality of the food has gone down. The restaurant itself is beautiful! We love the bar area and felt it wasn't crowded when it came to how the tables were set up. Their bread was wonderful and the app Shrimp bruschetta is a must have. However our meals did not measure up. My husband got fish and it was overcooked although the flavors were good. I ordered shrimp expecting it to be similar to the shrimp in our app but I was disappointed. Overall we had a nice time but may just go for apps and drinks in the future. read more

Went there tonight for the first time with a $100 gift card, with semi-high expectations based on the reviews. However while the service was excellent the food was subpar at best. The calamari was inedible, very fishy, too chewy and the breading was bland. We sent that back. The mozzarella triangles were good and the scampi bruschetta was ok although overcooked with mushy shrimp. My son liked his sirloin steak and my other son liked his mahi altho without the lemon sauce it was bland. I'd be shocked if that was really fresh caught mahi, never frozen. I had the chicken Datil which was decent and my wife had chicken Marsala that was also ok but she said it was loaded with salt. The Caesar salads were drenched in a commercial/industrial dressing with limp lettuce. I feel bad writing this because the service was excellent. But the food including the bread was just a low quality variety and possibly the cooks not properly trained. read more

ALWAYS a solid experience at the Black Molly. How have I never reviewed this place? Happy hour 7 days a week until 7:00. BOGO cocktails that are not all mixer or watered down. I typically don't order steak when I go out but this is the place to do it - their ribeye is just so consistent, cooked to perfection, seasoned just right, and man what a deal. It's listed as a 12 oz and this boneless ribeye may actually be after cooking weight. Comes with salad and a side - simply can't be beat. They are opening a new location relatively close so there is no doubt their success will follow them. Our server Alexandra was friendly and attentive and not overbearing. I usually say nothing . We have been dining at Black Molly since it opened at Cobblestone. A go to, especially for lunch. Today was different- something was off. There was an unusual wait in being acknowledged at the hostess stand. Ok, they may have had a problem . I understand. After being seated we were greeted by our server. She took our drink order. Upon receiving this we ordered- simple. It was when our order came out that things went totally downhill. My husband's order was correct but mine was not. I distinctly ordered the grilled Mahi sandwich. Even husband heard me. I got the fried Mahi sandwich with blue taco and slaw. When pointed out - she argued that this is the only Mahi sandwich on the menu. The one I ordered is below it - it comes simple either blackened or grilled. Ultimately she took it back to the kitchen and I told my husband to eat as his food would get cold. ( by then his fries were cold) . Also, after our server left she never brought condiments to the table. ( we called over another server who helped us and apologized, telling us that our server was relatively new., she did come over and apologized. Later,after receiving our check, she disappeared again and we grew impatient waiting to leave . My husband found someone else to take our payment. There appeared to us that there was no one in charge , like a manager. The other server tried to be that person. We were so looking forward to an enjoyable dining experience today. read more

Every dish we've had here has been great. The ribeye sandwich and the crooked Datil burger for lunch and any of the seafoods for dinner. Great food and great service. I do wish there was a little better sound dampening inside but that is a very minor concern. read more

Food was good, service was great, but it was very loud! We are going back in a couple of weeks and hopefully we will be able to have conversations among the ten of us that can be heard! We decided to try this place as we have heard good things about it from locals of St Augustine. This place is amazing. We enjoyed the calamari for starters and the bread with butter, warm and soft. Our server explained the menu and specials well. For our main dish, we had ribeye, fish abaco - halibut and datil chicken. The ribeye was seasoned well and cooked to the temp we requested. The halibut was not fishy and the cream sauce complemented the dish. The datil chicken has a kick but not too spicy. Surprisingly, we finished all our food even though the portions were good. This shows we enjoyed our meal. Another place we will frequently visit. read more

Love the Black Molly! I would usually give 5 stars for every visit we have had here - its always yummy. Unfortunately, during our last visit the food was not hot. All the flavors were there but it seems that it was just taking too long to get to us and the food got cold. I have never been here when it isn't packed and there is a line out the door. This is a local favorite. We drive from 45 mins away to enjoy their food. My favorite apps are the hummus platter and shrimp snaps. The hummus platter took a long while to come out - but still delicious and worth the wait. I ordered the shrimp as my meal this time (instead of as an app) and they did NOT disappoint - yummy! My husband got the steak and potatoes. The potatoes were room temp and unfortunately dry. We will be back because the food is always flavorful, the staff are pleasant, everyone we have ever taken there also enjoys it, and they do happy hour drinks that are awesome. Awesome! 2 stars ... if based on hostess greeting - many might simply turn around and walk right back out the door. Not welcoming. I had a view of her off and on all evening & never cracked a smile. We were an inconvenience, at best and worse - her response "that's just the way we do it here" when we walked in at 4:45PM on a Monday night and requested either two tables or one large for party of 12 ... "not happening" ... we even called when they opened to provide a heads up we we're coming - response was, 'really, we don't take reservations' ... got it ... just thought you'd like to know. Oh well. 3 stars ... for food. Out of their special "salmon with cucumber dill sauce" ... ok ... understandable ... a few got Mahi instead or Rainbow Trout ... not a big deal. But trout was overcooked and a bit dry. The Chef's Salad was excellent & the Burger w/ fries cooked perfectly. Crab cake's okay and the shrimp good. Only my 2nd time eating here & first time for dinner - will probably hit up another place before coming back again. Parking close was limited as many cars were not parked inside their lines. But restaurant is in a large shopping center - so plenty of parking if ok to cross street. Seating outside was available, but the smoker's had overwhelmed the area and we definitely felt it would not be a pleasant dining experience. read more

We met our friend here to grab dinner at the new location. It was great! There is tons of parking and it's easy to get too. Inside it is bright and spacious. They have the same iconic large booths in part of the restaurant that they had prior. Our server was also great! He recommended a dessert, that we will also recommend to you! We did try it and loved it (see pictures)! The mushroom appetizer was delicious and you can't go wrong with any pasta choice either! My staple choices are usually the dátil chicken or one of the fish dishes. We had been going to the old location for years as a family and this new building is even closer to our family home now. We ate here at lunchtime yesterday. It was absolutely perfect. Our entrees were the swordfish, beautifully cooked with an excellent sauce; the red fish, wonderful as well; the veggie sandwich, delicious; and the calamari. It came as an entree and was a very generous portion. Kaitlyn was our waitress and was attentive, friendly and professional. She recommended perfect lunches for the four of us. Absolutely delicious meal and Wonderful Experience. First time at this place. Totally packed but we're seated in 15 minutes. Grabbed a cocktail before and it was a generous pour. Our waiter Colin was fabulous. We split a ribeye and crab cake appetizer. They brought the steak already cut and plated separately, each with mashed potatoes and a split Cesar salad. Started with the spinach dip that was yummy too. Ended with crème brûlée Very generous portion that you should share. Our waiter was so attentive but we observed the Most hardworking wait staff throughout the restaurant. Additionally, the twin bus boys, Anthony and Christian NEVER stop!! So, we started off on an EXTREMELY bad foot here. Went in around 5 and was told about an hour's wait. No big deal because that is what we expected. However, we literally watched a waitress sit someone who they had a relationship with despite the fact that they hadn't waited at all or even put their name in. That being said, we'll get to the actual review. We started with the stuffed mushrooms. They were really yummy! Don't do it if you don't like lemon though, as they are more lemony than buttery. If you like lemon, get the bread now! The Caesar salad was the perfect size - nothing overly special, but good (same with the bread.) We ordered 2 entrees: a ribeye and a filet. Both were cooked perfectly and cut like butter! Just amazing. Clearly, you will not go wrong with a steak here. Polished it off with a piece of chocolate cake. Better than amazing.
