Ordered online when I seen the pictures of food.. but I'm very disappointed in this meal. For $20 and a $2 tip-- I come to pick up my order just to find out that the host didn't "push it through" so I had to wait an additional +20 minutes on top the the original 20. When I received my food, I was disappointed to see that it was only 2 wings--- with one being way too charred and then the rice and veggies. For 20 dollars.. I think $20 is WAY too much. Food was cool-- but the customer service and accommodations could've been much better.

Wow! What an incredible little gem! I'm visiting from Maryland, my cousin was visiting from California, and we chose this spot since my cousin saw them on the Food Network. Five stars for service. The owners are both very, very nice and attentive. They made us feel right at home and ensured we had everything we needed. Rarely do I receive service that amazing anywhere - even at the most upscale restaurants. The food was good! I give it. 4 out of 5. The wings had a nice smokiness to them, which I really appreciated. We tried all of the wings except buffalo. They were all good - our least favorite was the jerk wings. The sandwich was also good - I can't remember the name of it, but it was like a chicken Philly. My cousin and I agreed that it was good, but it was missing something - a sauce specifically - so we used the dipping sauces they gave us and those helped! Overall, this is a cute little spot. They have TVs and projectors and also play music (which can be a little loud if you're sitting right in the back by the speaker). But we loved it! Highly recommend.

THE Boomerang wangs!!! Lolol... yea I ordered extra.... :)

Ok! Saw this restaurant on the food network show....I knew I was coming to Indy....so immediately put them on my list of spots I had to try..the owner on the show is the same guy at the restaurant. TRULY BIGGER THAN LIFE PERSONA! Real as it gets. My cousins and I stopped by, I'm just gone say no one complained about their plates. That's said!!! As I told the owner, I came for the wings...the boomerang wings...thet were spot on! Fresh, moist, spicy, big, thick, worth every mile to get there..I am saying this spot was worth the drive. Excellent!

I can't say enough great things about our experience. I'm a huge Great Food Truck Race fan and I loved these guys on the show. I saw they were from my home town, so I knew I had to give them a try when I came to visit. I'm in town this weekend for a funeral, unfortunately, but this was a perfect chance to check them out! My cousin and I headed in and were seated immediately. We asked for some recommendations and made our decisions. What really stood out was the service. The co-owner (Mark, I believe) checked on us repeatedly. He made sure drinks were topped off, that we were enjoying our food, that the music was the right volume, and so much more. He almost bordered on harassment but in a good way LOL! Then the other owner Terry (who was on the show) arrived. They are total opposites lol! He is full of energy, and when his brother told him I was a fan of the show, he yelled "I heard somebody is looking for me!" Then he ran to my table and said "come on man let's take a picture!" He turned up the music and the party got started. I know I haven't gotten to the food yet, but the biggest complaint about many restaurants is the service. The Block is the example of what they all should aspire to be! Now, the food was absolutely delicious. The wings are smoked so it gives them a great flavor beneath the sauce. Some were better than others though, so here's my ratings: Chicken Philly sandwich - 4.5 out of 5 Thai chilly wings - 5 out of 5 Garlic Parmesan wings - 4.5 out of 5 (could have used a touch more garlic) BBQ wings - 4.5 out of 5 (a little too sweet) Jerk wings - 3.5 out of 5 - pretty good but could have used a touch more heat, less sweetness, and actually a little less sauce. They were covered Bread pudding - 4.5 out of 5 - great flavor, loved the texture of the nuts and edges of the bread pudding. It was a lot of the Grand Marnier sauce, which overpowered the middle bites. Once I scraped some off and spread it to the edges it was perfect. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Great food and amazing service! If you're in town, I highly recommend you check them out!

First time at Block Bistro & Grill, party of three for an early week day dinner . We shared a Biochos (Chicken Nachos) platter and we all had the Shrimp PO' Boy Sandwich. The Biochos were tasty and had plenty of grilled chicken, cheese and garnish. It was served with salsa and sour cream. The PO' Boy had five tasty fried shrimp on a French bread with lettuce, tomato and a remoulade sauce, served with fries Quaint ambience, reasonable prices, located in a historic district. Not a large space but comfortable looking patio. Service and food were good.

We went on a Saturday (8/17) at 6:00pm. We though it would be busy, not at all and I know why. It's located in a prime location. The space is small, could use some TLC but intimate with outside seating. The service, none. It was the bartender who was working both areas and had a hard time keeping up. We ordered and the food was not that good. It all tasted as if it was reheated from the night before and wings burnt. The fried would be good if they were hot. I will wait to retry this restaurant again. It's not worth the price of the food especially when you have so many other places to pick downtown Indy.

The salmon entree was maybe the best salmon I've ever had: moist and well-seasoned. The presentation was impressive. My entire party liked their meals, especially the thin-cut homemade fries. The variety of options for cocktails is great. Food options range from simple lunches to sizable dinners (e.g. club sandwiches to lamb entrees). Interior (rather crowded) seating is available, but I would highly recommend the extensive patio seating on a nice day. You'll have views of Monument Circle, the State Capitol, and more urban scenes. I will say that the interior decor is lacking, but it looks like they're in a renovation phase. If you go on a sporting event day, the interior is usually packed with fans (e.g. Purdue basketball) as they have a projector set up and several TVs. I don't believe they have a customer restroom available. Unlike many of the more upscale restaurants on nearby Illinois St, The Block Bistro has more of a local feel. Service was pretty quick. The owner and chef is so friendly and visited our table. The Block Bistro is involved in the community and will have fliers for local candidate they support for political office. The location of The Block Bistro is excellent: in the heart of downtown very close to the Convention Center and mall. The entrance is on Market St, a wide brick-paved city street with cheap street parking. On busy days, you may need to park in the garage by the Avis rental car to visit The Block Bistro.

Love the vibe and the ambience in this restaurant! Not to mention, of course the food is delicious, and the drinks are exquisite. Great place if you want to bring some friends listen to some 90s music and catch up. Will be back for sure!

Margarita flatbread? Pesto flatbread? Pretty good but make sure you have mints for afterwards. Ha!

Server, who's name I didn't catch, was fantastic. We sat outside, so I didn't get a look at how crowded the entire restaurant but the window by us led me to believe it was pretty empty. We went on a Tuesday for lunch during our workday. We were in and out in about an hour- friends got a chicken sandwich and a burger and fries. I got the pesto flatbread. They raved about their dishes, mine was just okay but I'd come back and try other things on the menu. Prices were decent, I think most entrees were $12-$15? I'll be back, but I'm not sure I'd add this to my "cravings" list of restaurants.

Ordered the Thai chili and jerk chicken wings!!! Absolutely delicious and falling off the bone!!! I'm not sure how this isn't a certified wing spot!!!

I visited this place last night for the first time to check out the devour menu. When we entered the restaurant, there were some gentleman off to the corner who were watching the Bengals v Chiefs game. When one of the gentleman noticed us, he introduced himself as the owner and told us to sit wherever we would like and got a waitress to bring out some menus. We ordered the chicken blochos and Thai chili wings with rice and veggies. The blochos were really good. I was hesitant because the chips were supposed to be spicy but the jalapeños were spicier. Thai chili wings were okay. The sauce was perfect. I'm not a big fan of blackened chicken but they were well cooked. The rice was rice and veggies could've been warmer. The blockarita drink was really good though. My only real complaint was how long the food took. On this specific night, The Block became a sports bar. Based on the owners' comments this was unusual but I throughly enjoyed the shenanigans. It was hilarious. I also really appreciated the owner checking in with us. I don't usually go downtown but I think I will come back to try the actual menu in the future.

My husband and I came here and it was such a good time. We wanted to get away from the kids and enjoy some 1 on 1! We picked the best place that night. It's Black owned and located down town. Super proud about that. We walked in and the owners energy was on 10. Literally LOL. My Husband and I kept laughing about how energetic and loud he was but it felt like family. The owner is doing some great things to make his restaurant different and fun! First Friday of the month they have live music and also movie night as well. I believe the calendar is posted on their website or you can always call. The food taste pretty good! It wasn't anything crazy special about the food but I was happy leaving out that night. My favorite was the chicken wings! Now those are a must have. However my Burger was pretty typical. The only thing I would say is that the employees kind of play with their mask and not keep them on as much. I wish they would do better with wearing mask but you can always request them to out it up. This is a 5 star vibe for me, keep doing a great job!

So I get it...its Covid times and definitely not the best time to open a restaurant...so I commend the owners for opening The Block Bistro. Interior: it is small and pretty basic. Chairs are basic black with padding... something you would find at a church basement dining hall. There is one big tv on the wall and another small flatscreen on the bar..not exactly the type of setup for watching sports with a ton of people. Menu options and food: menu options to me was pretty basic. Burgers, flatbread pizza, salmon on a bed of rice with veggies...nothing amazing that was a must try. Tonight I opted for the Blochos..nachos with steak and all the fixings. The nachos had white cheese jalapenos tomatoes and a good healthy spoonful of sour cream. The steak was there..not plentiful but an ok serving of small cubes of steak. It was lacking in flavor and wow factor..it was pretty basic. Service was kinda slow. One thing I noticed was they didn't have a good rhythm. The female was a hostess and waitress and bartender. The one guy was a waiter and food runner and cleaning tables...and there was one other guy assisting as well. I watched as silverware was missing for diners...drinks took forever. We ordered a sparkling specialty drink and it was brought room temperature... alcohol is not to be served room temperature..it tasted horrible. We were allowed to order another drink but it was also mediocre. The beer on tap was expensive but good. Overall I was underwhelmed.

The menu offered a few different foods with multiple choices on sizes (by the ounce), and the lovely hostess taking our order was delightful. We had a really hard time deciding what to get as everything looked reeeeeeally good, but we opted to split the following: *Bacon Hash -- 4 oz for $4 -- well worth it! *Barnyard chili -- 8 oz for $7 -- pricy yet tasty *Jicama Tacos (one chicken guac and one chorizo aioli) -- 2 for $7 -- messy but pretty good *Fudge bites for dessert -- $3 for one -- dark chocolate, peanut butter, banana, sea salt, and applesauce mixed and formed in to a hockey-puck type solid mass. It was not really sweet like I expected, and kind of hard to eat. Probably wouldn't get it again. Next time I will totally get the Brussels Sprouts for myself when not sharing with the hubs :) I would say overall this was a 3 1/2 star experience for me as it was over $20 for 'snacks' and we were still hungry afterwards, but a star bump for using real, quality ingredients.

Still, I'll support a paleo food truck when the truck has "bacon (greater than) gluten" painted on the side of it. That's one way to get my attention for sure! On our visit my boyfriend and I shared two tacos--one chicken, one chorizo--fried plantains, and the brussel sprouts. I have so many nice things to say about all three. Instead of corn or flour, Caveman Truck uses fresh jicama as a tortilla to hold its protein + slaw + guac/aioli. It's the perfect starchy alternative to cut through the good greasiness of the chorizo. The plantains are not only fried in coconut oil beautifully, but also they are caked with a curry-based seasoning, providing you with a sweet plantain that also has some savory elements to it. The brussel sprouts--my favorite of the three--are fried in coconut oil and topped with an overload of crumbled bacon and a spritz of lime. It's a little bit of fatty, a little bit of zesty and a whole lot of flavor. All three dishes knocked it out of the park. From here on out, I'll be keeping an eye out for the Caveman Truck on the streets of Indy, because I still need to try the highly-praised barnyard chili and bacon hash. If this is how our ancestors ate, then I can't wait to eat the primal way again!
