We stopped at this neighborhood joint for lunch on a very hot summer day while we were in Indianapolis for a wedding. The air conditioning was very welcome and the interior was clean. The vibes are very, very hole-in-the-wall. But the reviews were good and the prices were cheaper than other restaurants in the vicinity so we tried out 2 offerings from their sandwich section, and hoped we could at least try to make healthy choices... Spoiler alert - our attempts at healthy failed. I ordered a crispy pork tenderloin sandwich with a side of fries while my boyfriend ordered a catfish po'boy with a side of fried okra and a grub drink (Kool aid). They were out of yams, my original plan for a side, so I impulsively got fries. They were basic so I should have chosen a different side, something more authentically soul. Or healthy!!! Lol whoops! Our wait was about 10 minutes so we chatted and thought about tagging them on social media to get a free side of fried biscuits, but decided against it for the sake of our health! (Looking back, we should have done this anyway). We grabbed our food from the counter and ate at a table inside. About 5 or 6 people came in and out to pick up to-go orders. No one else dined in. But we can see why this is a popular carryout spot! The food was sooooo good! Normally, I'd scoff at a slice of Kraft cheese on top of anything, but it was yummy on top of my MASSIVE portion of crispy pork tenderloin. The honey sauce was so good and I'm glad they forgot to put it on the side, like I originally asked. It added a sweetness to this fried sandwich I really enjoyed. My boyfriend was happy with his side of fried okra and hasn't met a fried catfish po' boy he hasn't liked. He didn't finish his kool aid but they gave him a lot so that's just fine. I am not local to Indy, so I don't know when I'll be back next, but I'd happily give my recommendation to anyone looking for a hearty, soul food meal in northern Indianapolis! Our meal also came out to around $30, which isn't too terrible.

2 stars. Disappointing. I patronized the food truck and was very disappointed by the quality of the Mac n cheese. I asked if it was a southern-style baked Mac n cheese or something more akin to a kraft stir-it-up-type and was told it's "baked and seasoned like what you would have at thanksgiving". Sounds good, doesn't it? (The lady cooking responded with less kindness and a bit of annoyance by saying, "it's Mac n cheese...ion know what else to tell you. I should've taken that as the correct answer! My fault.) Well, the noodles were mushy. Overcooked. Like, feed a baby mushy. And the flavor was giving microwave Kraft or velveeta type stuff. No cows or chickens were harmed in the making of this side dish because no real cheese nor any egg was used. Not inedible, but def not delicious. I chose to not to waste calories on food I didn't enjoy. So, I stopped after three bites. Not worth the $5. Wouldn't recommend unless you fancy a nice bowl of microwave Mac n cheese. Since they didn't pass the sides test, I am not willing to spend money on the proteins.

family owned restaurant on college ave. the place is clean and full of artwork on the walls . the staff is friendly , and they acknowledge you as soon as you come in . i feel they have some of the best seasoned chicken around . however this visit my chicken was not cooked properly. it was seasoned to perfection , but it was overcooked . the sweet potatoes were amazing . the mac n cheese however was just noodles and cheese . not an ounce of seasoning in site .

Stopped by on recommendation from a friend and will definitely be back sooner than later. The owners were there and fixing the food and they were so kind and attentive to us. The took our order and brought it to our table piping hot. The catfish was true southern style and exactly what we were looking for. The sides were all delicious too and it's clearly they are homemade and fresh. The owner was kind enough to bring some of the cinnamon treats over to our table just to be kind. The atmosphere was great, nice soft music playing and was very comfortable. We are already planning our next visit!

I can't stop grabbing the Grub House for a weekend breakfast. The pancakes are seriously the best. I love being able to get smoked sausage as a breakfast meat. Not pictured here are also the fried onions and potatoes which are SO good. For like $15 this is really a steal.

Nice basic breakfast with a slight twist. We both got the deep-fried French Toast Croissant with eggs, bacon and cheese. I took mine apart and ate the French toast alone. It had a great cinnamon flavor, very soft and fluffy. The bacon was just right with the eggs and cheese. Interior has a cool mural and mirrors to make it look bigger. Everyone was very friendly.

Same great staff, same cool space, same open kitchen where a party of one like me can grab a counter seat and watch the chefs do their thing. I've honestly always enjoyed that part of the experience. Today I had the avocado toast with feta and an egg on top, and it totally hit the spot. Earlier this week I tried one of the newer menu items -- fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, plus a sample of jalapeño cornbread and Asian slaw. Incredible comfort food. And as someone who normally isn't much of a slaw person, I was surprised by how much I loved it. They also tried to tempt me with the roast beef special, which honestly looked great, but at 10:30 in the morning I just couldn't fully commit to roast beef yet. Maybe next time. The new name is a nice tribute to the owner's mother, Arleen, but thankfully it still feels like the Milktooth so many of us have come to enjoy over the years. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been in awhile.

I had the southwestern salad with buffalo chicken. It had corn and tortilla strips (which I left off), black beans, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and bleu cheese dressing. It was super fresh and very flavorful. The chicken actually had a good buffalo flavor which many claim to have but don't. We also tried the Nutella crepes with bananas, strawberries, whipped cream and Nutella. In addition to being very large, it had a great taste and was very fresh. Another hit for sure. The avocado toast with salmon was really good. The flavors were spot on and as with the other food, very fresh and well prepared. The brisket burger patty melt was also done perfectly. The brisket patty was a perfect medium and the onions were grilled just right. We opted for mayonnaise instead of the Thousand Island dressing it comes with. The other dressing may have been good but the mayo really paired well. Finally, the club sandwich was again prepared perfectly. Fresh meat, perfectly toasted bread (some places under toast and many over toast) - it was quite tasty. **Bluebeard... wtf**…read more Bluebeard has been on my Indianapolis restaurant list since I moved here from Chicago in 2021. I've found some really great restaurants here over the years, so I was especially excited to finally make it to Bluebeard. Each year during Devour, my husband and I pick a restaurant for each other as a surprise, and this year I chose Bluebeard. We had a 6:15 reservation and arrived about 10 minutes late due to traffic. I apologized, and we were promptly seated. Unfortunately, that's where the experience started to go downhill. Our server took about 15 minutes to come over, and although our appetizer arrived quickly (chips&dip), our drinks took another 15 minutes. I held off on ordering our meal because I wanted to do the Devour menu with the wine pairing. The food & drinks was a mixed bag: - Beauregard cocktail: 10/10 - Chips & avocado ranch dip: 8/10 - Crudo: 9/10 - Smoked fish dip: 4/10 - Mushroom ravioli: 8/10 - Short Rib Ragu: 3/10 - Chocolate crème brûlée: 3/10 There were definitely some great dishes, but the slow service and inconsistent food were disappointing for a restaurant with this reputation. The biggest issue came toward the end of the meal. The hostess came to our table and told us we needed to hurry because she needed the table for another reservation. **We were still waiting for dessert.** I explained that the service had been very slow and that we were waiting on our desserts. Our server apologized and said the hostess likely didn't realize what had been happening and was under stress. I completely understand that Devour can bring in more traffic than usual, but that's also something a restaurant at this level needs to be prepared to handle. We shouldn't have been made to feel rushed when the delays were not on our end. I really wanted to love Bluebeard after having it on my list for five years, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. For comparison, some of my favorite Indy restaurants for both food and service are Bocca, Union 50, Matador, Rosemary & Olive, Tinker Street, Strange Bird, Delicia, and Bodhi. Maybe we caught Bluebeard on an off night, but for me, this experience fell short.
