I visited this diner for the first time on a Friday morning with my father for my birthday. There was on-street parking available right in front, but in Gorham that varies based on the time of day. There is seating both inside and outside. To start, we both ordered juice, which came served in a mason jar with a straw. I ordered the House Braised Corned Beef Hash, and my father decided on the Veggie Hash. Both breakfasts came with a two eggs cooked "your way", and two pieces of toast. The food was ready fast, served at the same time, and delicious. Everything was homemade and fresh! My favorite part was the adorable salt shakers shaped like pigs. Was pleasantly surprised by a recent breakfast visit to the Blue Pig! I would recommend getting there on the earlier side, as it is a smaller restaurant (in the nicer weather, there are some additional tables outside). Parking is on street- we found spots down the block near the church. My friend and I each got bloody Mary's and they were really good! Our waitress was really friendly and patient with our questions. My friend got hash and I got one of the Benedicts...both were tasty but we agreed the potatoes could have used some more seasoning. read more

Specialty coffee drinks are decent but they only give a half mug. The eggs were cooked nicely and tasted good. The pulled pork hash was decent. The majority of flavor came from the bacon not the pork so I'd like to see more flavor from all of the elements. Girlfriend says: Decor too farmhouse "quaint" and Americana knick-knacks make it a bit cheesy. Caramel macchiato was tasty but very small in big mug so felt skimped. Veggie Benedict was okay--peppers overcooked and hollandaise can't compete with what's made at places in Portland. Home fries were good but so what? The blueberry pancake was one of the best I've had! The sausage links are pretty amazing too! The atmosphere was calm and welcoming and on a Friday morning we didn't have to wait at all! Went here for Sunday brunch with two others and overall it was just ok. I ordered a Bloody Mary, which was deliciously spicy. To eat, I had two eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. The over easy eggs were cold and the bacon was overwhelmingly smoky and chewy. Person #2 got the breakfast burger which was also just ok. Person #3 got the biscuits and gravy, which was phenomenal, I tried a bite and regretted my plain choice. Our server was very friendly and attentive and I enjoyed sitting outside. My partner and I came for breakfast. It's a very cute restaurant with a cafe/bar type atmosphere. It was very clean and there was self seating but the waitstaff was very friendly and prompt. My partner got the 2 eggs and toast special. He enjoyed the wheat bread the most it appeared to be fresh possibly made locally. I ordered the chicken and waffles without the gravy. I was pleasantly surprised that was option It's my favorite breakfast dish and almost impossible to find in the area. The waffle was nicely made and the chicken was alright it tasted like it could of been a pre made bag. My only complaints were I only had enough chicken for half my waffle and the syrup wasn't real maple. They gave me two small tender sized pieces of chicken that was smaller then the 1/4 portion of the waffle that was not worth $11 to me. I would go here again but try something else. read more

First timers, found on yelp as new to the area. Had family in town and we traditionally do a Sunday breakfast so was looking for a great new go-to location. Entered the restaurant, which was busy, and read the sign directing diners to seat themselves at any available clean table when the entire party was present. We were all there, and there were 8 of us, and after several minutes they began clearing off a 6 top. Next to the 6 top was two 2 tops sporting one couple. We asked them if they were willing to give up one of the two tables...they were all for it but the short haired blond was absolutely not. She was rude in her presentation of why it wasn't going to be allowed - the table was coming from another server's section. Okay, first off that is a logistical issue that should never be presented to the diners. Figure it out. I have years of hospitality experience including restaurant ownership and that is a lazy excuse for not accommodating your clientele. The positive take away - we did not have to have that woman as our server nor would she benefit from any tipping - and yes, we tip very well when warranted. After a 5 minute wait, another table departed so that the double 2 top could be split and the set without inconveniencing the servers. We were seated, orders were taken and within a reasonable time frame food was delivered. Two servers handled our table, a longer haired blond with the assistance of a long, dark haired woman. These ladies were friendly. The original woman we interacted with did deliver a couple of plates & she really poured on the charm but honestly the damage had been done. First impressions do count and they are lasting. Now, on to the food. It was an interesting menu, well presented, visually appealing and overpriced. The pesto omelet was good, as were the blueberry pancakes. The corned beef hash was prepared with massive chunks of corned beef (1"x1" cubes). We had two plates of the Barnyard Hash (3 kinds of meat) which was very inconsistent in content. One was heavy on potatoes had no pork and significantly less brisket than the other. The restaurant appeared clean in general though we had a fork at one of our place settings that was covered with egg and how the server didn't notice it is beyond me. The atmosphere was charming diner. Any one of the issues we experienced would not have deterred us from returning, collectively maybe, but the original server encounter....that was the deal breaker. Had there been another option, we would have walked out. Without driving 20-30 minutes, sadly there just aren't many options. This experience was fraught with almosts: almost reasonably priced for what you receive, almost clean, almost a friendly small town diner. We'll continue to search for a friendly, clean, reasonably price, local restaurant that serves quality food. Sorry Blue Pig Diner, cute concept but just missing the mark. read more

Alright Maine, you got me. I've been hunting for a place that serves up a decent plate of biscuits and gravy, and I think I've found it. It's in Gorham of all places. I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning and the place was full but not crowded. We easily got a table by the window and were noticed immediately by out server. They have a pretty decent sized menu and everything from the omelets to the Cuban sounded absolutely to die for. I settled on my fried chicken and biscuits topped with sausage country gravy and served with home fries and slaw ($13). My friend decided on the blueberry stuffed French toast ($8). Both were fantastic and to top it all off they have REAL maple syrup! We left stuffed and happy. We both vowed to become regulars or maybe move to Gorham! read more

Sunday was our first visit to the Blue Pig. We managed to find a parking spot on the street and seated ourselves without waiting. I had the Irish eggs benedict and my wife had the vegetarian eggs benedict. Our food took longer than normal to be brought out and it took two asks when we needed extra hollandaise sauce. This was an amazing brunch spot that the whole family enjoyed. We are traveling and wanted a quick breakfast that would taste good and give us energy. We walked in and waited for about five minutes to get a table. Definitely worth the quick wait! Soon we were seated and we ordered. I got their breakfast burrito, my husband got eggs, my two younger daughters got Lollipop Pancakes (Mini pancakes on sticks, very cute) and my older daughter got the croissant French toast. Our food came quickly and the service was excellent. My burrito was light, fresh, and flavorful, exactly what I had wanted. My younger daughters seemed very happy with their pancakes and loved that they were "lollipops." My husband described his eggs as 'simple but satisfying.' My older daughter's French toast looked delicious. It had two thick slices of french toast drizzled with raspberry sauce and white chocolate, with plenty of whipped cream.
