This is by far the best place for burritos in the Northwoods. Wet burrito with peppers and onions smothered in white sauce. Shockingly good!

The good is good, but their service is great. If you have kids, this is a great sit down option in Minocqua.

In the middle of the summer tourist and fishing season, when most people are eating fish or burgers, this restaurant blew us away. It's located in a Woodruff, but is close to Minocqua. We shared the the fish taco dish and the jarocho. They were both delicious AND GLUTEN FREE! There was a greater variety of foods available than I've seen at other Mexican restaurants. The atmosphere put you in the right frame if mind to be eating Mexican food, including showing a line of Jarritos soda bottles and the various flavors. The old lady was they serve New Glarous Spotted Cow beer on tap in small, medium, or large chilled in giant mugs like you find in Germany during October fest. I've eaten here several times and it started out ok but has declined. I usually order the chili rellenos that have gotten kind of soupy but today ordered the nacho supreme but they were more like nacho wretched. The meat looked and tasted like mushy dog food with a glob of sour cream plopped in the middle and some cheese. I had to send them back. Never, never, never order them. I won't be going back. I got the Taquitos and a large guacamole. Everything that I had was great! From the start you get chips and salsa which are just the right amount of spice to flavor. The large ceilings and cool paintings on the walls made the inside very nice! The food came out within ten minutes of us ordering and was hot and fresh. First off, what caught my attention about El Tarasco is that there was a veggie/vegetarian section which is quite rare for up north Wisconsin restaurants. As a plant based eater, that alone caught my attention and my eye. I came here with some friends and we all ordered something different, including drinks, appetizers, and main courses. My main course was great! I ordered the Veggie Yucatan which was a grilled veggie plate with rice and a salad. It was super yummy and unlike anything I've ever tasted. I would recommend this plate to anyone, even meat eaters. The guacamole was not good though, it was unflavorful. My company enjoyed their food too; I would say it was not top notch food but a good meal in the company of good friends. The service was alright, not over the top and not terrible. I took my wife and daughter here based on he recommendation from my brother in law. To start off, they couldn't get a drink order right. My wife and daughter were fine, but they. Pilsner remember what I ordered since they wrote nothing down. I ordered a Diet Coke with lemon and they brought it with a lime. The first time the waiter returned to take out food order, he asked if we were ready with quite a bit of sarcasm. We had never been here, so it took a little longer to read the menu. Apparently, that's our fault! They brought chips and salsa as soon as we were seated. That part was great, but didn't pay attention to the fact that we had devoured them. Two trips past our table, and we had to ask for more which was accompanied with a nasty look. We finally ordered and they got my wife's order wrong. They got it corrected, and we thought this was a sign that things were getting better. Wrong! They didn't ask about refilling our drinks until the meal was all but over. They must have wanted us out of there, because the waiter brought us our bill without asking if we wanted dessert (which we did). That's salesmanship 101...try to get an add-on. I found the manager and told him we were disappointed and told him why. He didn't express any compassion or sympathy, and he did not apologize for the poor experience. I'm fact, he didn't even say anything to me. I have never been so disrespected at a restaurant. Long story short, this establishment doesn't deserve your money.
