This place is truly professional and compassionate. Years back my puppy had come home with giardia after a week long stay. Not uncommon in pups while their immunity develops. I happened to have the flu and couldn't take my dog to the vet. The owner herself came to my home, picked up my dog, took her to her vet, paid the bill and brought her home. I was so impressed & thankful for how she handled it. How a business handles problems that arise tells you a lot. I can see they truly love and care for the dogs. I don't go there as often these days but when I do they always remember my dog and welcome her so warmly. Definitely the best boarding facility in town. read more

2nd Update: Over the course of the weekend, I was contacted by Brian and Diane from Bone Adventure. They both were sincerely concerned about the incident and apologized for it. They affirmed that there are processes in place in order to avoid such accidents and were in process of interviewing employees to find out where it went wrong. I was also assured that they will improve whatever communication needs to be improved in order to avoid such incidents in the future. Happy that the owners are involved in the daily operations and actually follow up on feedback. Pretty sure our puppy has forgiven them but as a fur parent I need a bit more time before I let our Brucie back in there. 1st Update *** Used to love this place till yesterday when they forgot our puppy in one of their time out cells for two hours! Had I not called to inquire where she was, she would've been in there till I went to pick her up half hour later. To top it off she was quite dehydrated as clearly no one bothered to check if she had water. My confidence in their babysitting services is completelyshattered. read more

The backyard can be overwhelming and possibly overstimulation if your dog isn't used to being around so many dogs . I have an easy going dog and one who does better in small groups . I didn't have the best experience at the superior location as my easy going dog was put on timeout for being excited to see familiar faces at the daycare . When we got a new Bernise Mountain Dog we knew we might need a trustworthy clean safe and fun place to leave him when we traveled. We first found a place in Irvine and weren't that impressed. A friend told us about the Bone Adventure and we tried it out and became instantly in love with it. From the friendly workers at the front to the dog groomers and dog watchers our dog bear has the time of his life while we can have the time of our life too. They have a great flexible policy and wonderful packages to help you plan in advance they make checking in and checking out super fast and easy and bear is always so excited to go visit his friends at the Bone Adventure. We love this place and recently we had a flood in our house which required us to stay in a hotel and even though they were already booked at capacity they made an exception for bear knowing that he has a regular there and they took great care of us during a time of high stress and anxiety. My 10 month old Lab absolutely loves this place. The staff is amazing with her. She has done really well developing her socialization skills. I had high hopes this would be her home away from home...I even had made reservations for overnight boarding and swim club this month while I took a few days vacation. Unfortunately, I had to cancel her stay - she has developed kennel cough again - this is the second time in 2 months...I know these guys do everything they can to keep our dogs healthy and this kind of thing happens - but I have a 19 year old dog as well (with kidney disease) and she now has the cough so we are headed to the vet once again (they were both treated with antibiotics in June as well after contracting kennel cough after a daycare stay at the Bone. (I know the Bone posts that Kennel Cough is self limiting but with an old dog I don't want to risk complications and I don't want my Lab contaminating everything everywhere we go.) Unfortunately, I have had to cancel my vacation plans (I can't in good conscious board my dog anywhere with active kennel cough). Im not sure what the answer is here but I know I won't be able to bring my dog back - I don't want to go through a 3rd round of kennel cough. To bad she really loved this place. read more

I understand the high reviews as the facility is very large with a pool, etc. but even given that, there are TOO MANY dogs as others have noted. They also don't seem to understand different breed personalities, or separate dogs based on energy level/temperament. Example: I dropped my dog off for a half-day of playtime to socialize and get some energy out. When I went to check on him via the webcams, he had been put into a side pen away from the other dogs and was pacing back and forth. I kept checking for over an hour and he was still in there. I called to see what had happened and they told me, direct quote, that "he was sprinting around the yard too fast." I responded that I would assume that's normal dog behavior for a young, energetic dog and asked if they could try letting him back out into the yard seeing as i planned to pick him up in the ~1hr that remained. I could've just kept him with me at home if I knew he was just going to spend most of the time in a pen. I understand that the root of the concern was that he might run into/knock over another dog too forcefully, but I think that ties back to the over crowding in the first place. In general, it seemed like they just wanted the easy, docile dogs that just lay around all day, so depending on your dog's personality, it may not be the best fit for you. We've since started going to Dog Republic which has been great, they understand normal dog behavior and certain temperaments given the breed to let dogs act like dogs while still keeping things safe. read more

I'd like to give them more stars as they really do a good job with the dogs. However, and this is a big however, if your dog is social assume they will come home with some sort of infection. This is our fourth time boarding our dog and, again, she's come home with an infection. It's not Bone Adventure's fault but the owners who don't keep up with shots that are the problem. We had our first annual private swim party Aug 11. It's a new program for them so they are still working out the kinks. We had a couple of kinks come up but at the end of the day, Brian the Manager saved the day. He made our event AMAZING. Plus the pool attendant Zack handled 17 dogs. . We absolutely LOVE The Bone Adventure Backyard! We use them ever single time we travel! The people at "The Bone" treat our dogs with so much kindness! Oftentimes, I feel like I'm dropping my dog, Sally, off to preschool! They have so many great options. huge open spaces for your pup to run around. They are never caged up all day unless the owner needs them to be. The Dogs get to sleep where they want, unless it is specified they need their own space. It is staffed well by AMAZING dog-lovers. They play with your dogs, and do a great job working with them. It feels good to know my Sally is in good hands when I need a day to work or travel for weeks. I tried to get in for the required initial interview, so my 4 month old Golden Retriever puppy could start using the daycare and boarding services. The first available date just to get in for an interview was in 6 weeks! They said they had plenty of open times for boarding at my requested dates, but we're booked out for the interviews. I only have good things to say about staff and about the care given to my dog at this location. I have a long history with doggie daycares, spanning several cities and nearly two decades - I'm a dog lover with demanding work hours. This is one of the best. The place is very well run. Drop-offs / pickups are efficient and quick. The staff is courteous and helpful and friendly - and seem to enjoy being there and seeing the dogs. They are on top of things like making sure that we keep up-to-date with kennel cough vaccine, etc. And, most importantly, I feel like my dog is safe and well supervised here. I wanted to take a moment to update my review that was left previously. First - when we brought Roux home from the Bone, she had bumps all over her body. She was not taken to the vet until Sunday because I thought these bumps may be due to an allergy (because the Bone failed to tell me there was an incident needing attention). When we took her to the vet, the vet shaved the area where the bumps were, revealing the bites shown in the photos. The "puncture wound" was caused by a bite and the vet informed us that she could not have gotten a puncture any other way. Although the other injuries were "abrasions" the photos clearly show that they are injuries as well. Those too came from her time at the bone. I understand that things can happen in dog day cares. It is not the fight that upsets me. Instead, it is the owners refusal to acknowledge what has occurred and failure to take responsibility. As a business owner myself, I believe she should have stated she was sorry and asked what she could do to fix this. Instead, she did not believe me and asked for me to take our dog for a second opinion. She did not believe the pictures were bites and therefore asked for the second opinion. I will attach more photos so customers can be aware of the photos I shared with Diane. She still insisted she wanted a second opinion and that the "photos didn't help." Bottom line: my dog was injured and the owner (as you can see from her comment) is in denial. THAT is why the bone is an unsafe environment. Her lack of professionalism and failure to acknowledge these injuries is the reason I will never take my dog back. Read her comment for yourself and ask if you would want that explanation after your dog was injured. read more

A breeder once told me that Australian shepherds should not live in the city. I am glad I didn't listen and went ahead and adopted my sweet 1 yr old red-tri, Rolo. However, I quickly found out why she said that. He destroyed everything in and outside of the house. He made our other dogs crazy with his pent up energy. 5 mile walks and trips to the dog park/beach didn't seem to suffice. This is where The Bone Adventure came in and made my life so much better. I love this place for many reasons: 1- You can use webcams to watch your dog (creepy.. maybe a little). But its good to know for yourself if your dog is terrified and miserable..or if he or she enjoys themselves. Its also good to rule out the idea (nightmare) of not knowing that your dog could be hiding the corner all day and you keep dishing out the $$. 2- Dogs are strictly screened for vaccinations/ parasites. Unlike your local dog park, dogs have to be vaccinated and parasite-free to play here. This mandate does require you to visit the vet more often ($$ fecal tests and 6-month Bordatella shots), but it makes sense. Additionally, all dogs have to pass a free temperament test at the facility in order to board or come for day care. This is good, so overly aggressive dogs or dogs that hate other dogs aren't in the picture. 3- Packages are expensive, but well worth it. These packages are flexible and can be used for 1/2 days or full day daycare. You can drop them off whenever. No big deal. I am not sure what the price comes down to- I buy the 10 day packages but I think its like $5 and hour. Packages do expire, but I quickly found out that it wasn't a problem in my case. Rolo loves coming here & I love when he isn't herding my other dogs and getting into mischief. 4- Report cards. Although report cards are not written for your dog every time, you can request a report card to find out how your dog is doing at Bone Adventure. They did a great job transitioning my dog from the 'small dogs' to the 'big dog' section. They made sure he wasn't bullied and humped and gave me a honest report on what happened. 5- Unlimited play time. I have toured cheaper daycare facilities and they let their dogs out for 30 minute sessions and then put them back in the kennel. The kind of day care I personally want is where my dog running around all day or sitting in the shade, not locked up. Not all dogs like interaction 24-7, so its a personal preference. I think my dog would rather be at home then locked a kennel for most of the day. There will always be public health issues when there are lots of people or dogs in a small area. It's something you have to consider and accept if you bring your dog here. I am extremely happy that I found this place. It is too bad that they do not offer obedience or agility classes. I love my little Rolo, he's my baby. Taking your dog to daycare is definitely an expenditure that many owners wouldn't consider, but many do. This place is very popular and I would recommend it to owners with dogs that are playful, friendly, and like other dogs. read more

I just brought my dog here for a standard bath and grooming. For my little toy dog, the grooming was a total of $55 (30 for bath, 25 for cut) which I though was reasonable and comparable to other groomers. I liked their attentiveness and how they asked exactly what specifications I had for her cut. This was all taken a note of on the computer. The grooming took a bit longer than I thought, but I was very happy with the cut. The groomer even came out and asked me to make sure I liked it, and to ask if I wanted any changes. Looking at the facility I think I would board my dog here if I needed to. I loved that they had such a big yard and facility, and that there are cameras everywhere. A live link is also available to look at your dogs while you are away. They do seem a bit strict about current vaccinations, their release form says they need to be current within 6 months, but in a way it's good because you wouldn't want your dog to get sick. Boarded Frooney on Labor Day Weekend, 2014. I LOVE THE BONE ADVENTURE! It's our second time boarding my dog frooney the cocker spaniel to this location. I feel really safe and always have a peace of mind when I board him here. Last time, we boarded frooney here for 2 weeks while my family and I were on vacation in Hong Kong. Even when we're at opposite sides of the world, we were able to watch frooney on the webcams! There was always a bunch of dogs so it helped us to feel that my dog wasn't alone and missing us. It kept him occupied. It also kept my occupied as I can see him throughout the day. Also what I liked about this place is that they are very secured. There are practically double gates all around! (I observed during the first tour they gave us when we boarded Frooney.) I loved how this facility is cage free and the dogs can choose their own beds:) The staff here is VERY ORGANIZED. They actually communicate with each other and every staff member is on the top of their game. The customer service here is outstanding. They were able to answer all my questions regarding on Frooney and I was very satisfied with everything! The only downside is the fact that this facility is extremely pricey, but honestly it was worth it to have a peace of mind during my vacations. All their prices are on their website, but the boarding totaled us $102 for one night stay and full day dog care because we picked Frooney up an hour before they closed. The staff here are wonderful to my shy dog Rebel!!! Last time I took him there they noticed he had fleas. My doctor kept telling me he had allergies and no fleas. But the staff called me and asked my permission to give him a flea bath. Omg!!! Miracle!!! No more itching or bitting!!! He is so much happier. I felt like an idiot for not noticing myself. Love! I've been taking my dog here for about a year now, for overnight stays, daycare, and now grooming. The staff are always friendly and responsive, and they have reasonable rates. My dog is shy, and I really appreciate that the team doesn't mind letting him be their shadow. Compared to other daycare/dog hotels I've used, the format of Bone Adventure is by far my favorite. The "sleepover" style makes a huge difference - my dog is always much happier and more relaxed when I pick him up. Would definitely recommend! read more

Overcrowded... that's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Bone Adventure. The facility here is so nice so I really wanted to like Bone Adventure, but after going to them on and off for about a year, I'm losing the confidence that this is the best place for my pup. The price is just slightly higher than some other options like Paw Sweet Paw but we figured that's okay because the location is so great. The problem is they show you the entire huge facility during the consultation but won't they don't tell you is that they don't use the entire facility at the same time. Instead, the groups of large and small dogs are contained to usually two or three other areas of the park and that just makes for a clustered mess. I've showed coworkers and family live feed from the daycare several times and they're all blown away by the amount of dogs in each section. Spread them out! Sadly I think this place has been more focused on growth and it's social media -- dumping money into a PR agency to secure broadcast segments on KTLA -- when already it seems too crowded for the amount of staff they actually have outside with the dogs. Report cards are a cute gimmick for the first few days but don't expect one after that, even if you ask. Not a big deal but weird when you offer it and then staff consistently just doesn't do them. Just a shame! Have been waiting to share this with other pup parents but just got around to making a Yelp :) Good luck on your daycare search! read more

Was planning a road trip to California from Colorado. The resort I was meeting my family at didn't allow dogs, so I sought out a place to board my pup. The staff at The Bone Adventure was fantastic to work with! They made the process easy. When I brought my dog for her test run day, the staff was great with giving me a tour of the facilities & explaining the set up for dogs being boarded there. My dog had a fantastic time the three nights she spent there! Added bonus...being able to check out how she was doing via access to their video footage! My Bella loves this place. I was hesitant to bring her there often, coz first time she got a big scratch on the tight, second time she got a kennel cough. Two times in a roll, bad luck. But it shouldn't stop Bella enjoying life. We go to the park almost everyday. We know how sometimes a play can turn into a fight quickly. No dog is aggressive there, but accident can happen when there are lots of dogs. We human still drives around even there are accidents happening everyday. Why stop going to a place where you know your dog loves. I figure out maybe she is just too robustious, so tell the staff to give her some break times if she plays too rough. That did the trick, she was in one piece, no scratch, no missing patch of hair, I was relieved. Bring your flur babies there if you don't have time to take them to the park. I love this place, and more importantly, my dog loves this place! The staff here is amazing. They all know my dog's name when we walk in and they all greet her enthusiastically. The staff is extremely attentive, quick to notice and report any issues your dog might be having, and keep an eye to make sure the dogs' medical records are up to date. My dog loves water and although she might get wet and run around all day, they offer fluff and puffs that dry her up and make her smell better before she comes home. My furry family loves this place! Nelson, Murphy and Keegan cannot wait to get out of the car and join the pack inside. I have used boarding and daycare at the Costa Mesa location many, many times. The staff is attentive, thorough and observant. They have treated my senior dogs with great care in the past and it was so nice to know that each dog was getting personalized attention. I love being able to watch my kids on the web cam when I am sitting in another ridiculous meeting across the country somewhere. Typically he prefers humans over his furry friends --but he loves the attention he gets and "observing " his playmates! We have been customers of The Bone Adventure since its first location. 5 years plus. We were super excited to see The Bone Yard open. It was going to be our local dog mecca. Well just with a lot of businesses that grow, things have grown out of control. I think the organizational setup is no longer organized. They may have bitten off more than they may chew. As the prices have gone up, the service level has gone down. From mixing up dog food, forgetting to feed our dog, giving our allergic prone dog ointments that cause breakouts (when firmly stated don't give), billing issues., puppy pink eye, fleas galore (which I realize tis the season)..I think the best service you may use them for is for partial day care and their grooming. I think we have lost faith in the overnight boarding @ 60 a night. You may decide to just go back to the old Bone Home for the old school personal service. Bigger is not better for you and your pups. I hope they seek consultation to get their service back to its glory days. I would advise the owner to send feedback requests after your dog's stay. Afterall, they give you a report card of your dog (sometimes). I think it is time we give them a report card too. Please get back to basics and bring your class A service back. Love this place for my puppy Xena!! The staff is helpful and there's a lot to do and see for the dogs here! We started off taking Xena to the other location on Superior Ave. and that one is also nice. The good thing about that location is that you can watch your doggy playing anytime on their webcam!
