Great little restaurant for a quick bite of sashimi and sushi. The proprietor was super friendly and accommodating. The venue is clean and airy. We tried a number of items and everything was great. The shrimp and pork katsu were both nice and crunchy. The seafood was all super fresh. The quality of the food is on par with premium Japanese restaurants but at a much more affordable prices. I'd definitely be back for more.

Quality of food and service are excellent. We have ordered chirashi in the past, which we also enjoyed and tonight my son asked for the karage appetizer (though he likes it with his siracha spicy mayo..) and the eel tempura bowl.. portions are generous and always a hit!

    Shistachi bowl excellent

Yes it's great and lot of fresh sashimi. I try 2 shirachi bowls both were huge I ll be back

Bop kitchen was awesome! My tuna tataki bowl was fresh and delicious, as was the salmon skin salad. The service was so nice and friendly too! Would definitely stop by again for a healthy and delicious meal!

Stumbled upon The Bop while washing my rugs across the street at a laundry mat. Asian food is one of my favorite genres of food, so I set to give The Bop a try. What stood out to me was that this place is a fusion of Japanese and Korean! The menu offered a variety of choices. I ordered the kimchi fried rice. Boy, I was in for a treat!!! The kimchi was spicy just at the right level! The amount of kimchi in the fried rice was perfect. The seasonings, green onions, and seaweed is also on par with the total eating experience of the kimchi fried rice. The store is mainly a small "order to go" brick and mortar. There are only two tables, so don't expect to have a dine in experience like a regular restaurant. Make sure you order your food to eat elsewhere. I appreciate the person I ordered from explaining to me about the place not being a regular sit in place to eat. So take note if you come to The Bop to get food. The Bop is a pleasant surprise for sure!!!! I am definitely going to go back to try some other items they have to offer!!!

Good food and very friendly staff. The bowl I ordered was good but I wouldn't say it's anything special. Raw fish with rice and good sauce. The worker was very nice and gave us thorough explanations of each dish, with suggestions on how to eat them.

One of my favorite spots to go around this area. Since I work close I stop by couple of times per week. Fish is always fresh and prices are good! Portions always are good size My favorites rainbow poke , chips with spicy tuna and tuna crispy rice

So glad we found this place! My boyfriend and I were in the Melrose place looking for something to eat and we came across the Bop. We ordered for pickup and got the salmon ikura don and bara chirashi don. Both bowls were way bigger than we expected! The fish was super fresh and had a generous amount. The prices were fair for the amount you get as well! The bowls were pretty big so I could only finish half and saved the rest. Great place for some delicious sushi!

Drove by and found this tiny little spot serving up some amazing food. The menu offers so many options. I ordered the bulgogi bowl and it did not disappoint. Definitely recommend this place

SOY happy that I discovered @the_bop_on_3rd It's rare that I find a sushi place that I'm impressed with, and I loved how The Bop has some of the freshest sashimi in town while at incredibly affordable prices (especially for LA!) They definitely didn't skimp on the quality, quantity and authenticity of their bowls, and I would highly recommend checking out both their cooked Korean/Japanese sushi bowls. Featured here: Bara Chirashi ($24.90): absolutely loaded with salmon, tuna, albacore, ikura, shrimp and tamago! Highly recommend if you're looking for a fresh sashimi bowl without the sauces typically found in poke. Beef bulgogi bowl($19.50 buy one get one free on UberEats): really impressed with how well packaged it came, and how they have a generous portion of beef. I thought the beef could be a bit more tender/have a stronger flavor, but it's definitely authentic! Also comes with complimentary miso soup and salad

This place is SO so good!! As a lover of sushi and chirashi, I can say this is some of the best I have ever had. The pieces are super duper thick and the quality is amazing. This is a great spot for takeaway if you're craving some quality sashimi and their other options. You definitely don't want to go somewhere with low quality seafood and risk getting sick. Also in a great location. Staff is very friendly. Will definitely come back for more!

The Bop is a small shop located near Melrose street. They specialize in Japanese and Korean rice bowls. The shop is bright with an orange and white color palette. There's no restroom and parking is a bit hard to find. There's a few areas to sit in front. The staff was super helpful which was nice. Overall, ambiance was fine and the service was nice. Food We ordered the chirashi bowl and the spicy pork belly bowl. All bowls are $16-$22. They also came with a salad and miso soup. The bowls were pretty large portions and the pieces of fish were big in the chirashi bowl. The spicy pork belly bowl had the meat and rice split up which was nice. The food was pretty good but there was a lot of rice. Overall, the food is worth the price. Overall The ambiance: 4.5/5 The food: 4.5/5 The price: $$

As I was driving around, I was looking for something to eat. I came upon this place and wanted to try it out. Since I was craving a poke bowl, I saw that they had a Chirashi Bowl. So, I ordered the bowl with regular white rice. For $27-, the Chirashi Bowl filled me up. Also, it came with miso soup and a free soda with a Yelp Check-in. Plus, I got a tip on how to eat the fish which I appreciated.

It was a little before noon and there was only one party in the whole restaurant. We got seated right away and it was by the front window for everyone to see. The menu had a lot of options and priced like all other places or I'm just getting used to the prices these days. They did have a lunch special for $20 and you can get a small pho, and then some other choices and then a drink. I couldn't tell you what the other choices were because I didn't order it. The waitress was efficient and got the job done. She did get a little overwhelmed since after 1230pm, everyone decided to grab lunch. Here's what we ordered: lunch special with small bowl of beef pho, a beef banh mi and unsweetened black tea. The hubs said that his pho was decent, the flavor was simple and didn't have that deep rich flavoring like other pho bowls he has had. The banh mi had great bread and the filling was pretty flavorful. The black tea was good. I had the build your own pho because I have to have vegetable broth but I added in chicken meatballs and shrimp. The broth was pretty tasteless so I had to add in some hoisin sauce, and sriracha. There were other condiments but I was too lazy to grab it from the other table. That helped out with the soup. The chicken meatballs were questionable as in I wasn't sure if it was chicken. There were plenty of shrimp and they added pieces of chicken. The noodles had a nice chew to them. Overall the pho was okay but it didn't hit the pho craving/spot. We also ordered pork egg rolls and they were interesting. They weren't crunchy at all. It was a bit oily and at one point, I wasn't sure if a part of it was cooked. There was more other filling than meat. The nuoc mam tasted like watered down fish sauce. I guess I was so hungry that I didn't mind it. Overall, the food was just okay. Nothing exciting to report and unfortunately I wouldn't go back.

Their happy hour is one of the better ones I've found, with a great selection of rolls, nigiri, appetizers, and more, mostly ranging from $7-10. Parking is easy too, with plenty of street parking nearby. I sat at the bar, and the service was fantastic. I ordered the chicken karaage, which only comes with three pieces, but they're huge, incredibly crispy, and still juicy inside. I also tried the wagyu taco--it was fresh and flavorful, though the sauce wasn't my favorite, but that's just personal preference. I finished with a salmon hand roll and upgraded to salmon belly for a small upcharge, which was absolutely worth it. For the quality, portions, and prices, I think this beats a lot of other sushi happy hours in the area. I'll definitely be back... although part of me wants to keep this place a secret.

Even their dim sum items are discounted during lunch too so I got all my favorites like shumai, radish cakes, green onion pancakes, string beans, and even the rainbow xiaolongbao sampler which is basically Russian roulette for you to guess the flavor of each.
