What a nice surprise! We were attending a performance nearby and I saw a decent review on Yelp so I thought we'd give them a shot. Upon entering, we were greeted immediately and told to order at the kiosk and then to sit anywhere. By anywhere, that meant one of two or three tables next to the window. I was a bit taken aback by the sparseness of the place and the fact that one of the refrigerated cases was completely empty. But the server, who seemed to also be the owner, quickly updated us tray it was only the second day they had been open following a remodel. We placed our order and grabbed the only available table. It was explained to us that the menu isn't very large so that they can focus on quality over quantity, something I appreciate. The food came out quite fast and was in a bag ready for us to take home. Except we were dining in. When I mentioned that, he shrugged. Okay, I'm thinking. Maybe it was a simple mistake, so we took everything out of the bag and arranged it on the table. Over the course of the meal, I noticed that all orders were prepared that way, whether dine in or take out. We ordered the Crispy Rice, Yellowtail Serrano, Ponzu Albacore, the Spicy Tuna Avocado Crunch roll (I believe) and two orders of the Tuna Lovers sushi. After fidgeting around with all of the individual containers and setting up some wasabi and soy sauce in one of the lids, we indulged. By this point, I am slightly annoyed that we are essentially serving ourselves, and no dipping bowls or other items were offered. But my annoyances were quickly overcome at the first bite. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was incredibly fresh and delicious. The assorted Tuna Lovers sushi featured 4 different preparations, each one better than the last. The sashimi slices were amply cut and the toppings perfectly complemented the fish. The crispy rice was fairly standard and the roll was nice and flavorful. The bottom line is that I wish this place were closer to me. I'd be eating there frequently. My inclination was to give them 5 stars due to the freshness of the food, but I need to knock off a star due to the ambiance and service. For the price, I really expect to be served and not have to order at a kiosk. I also expect food to comer out on actual dishes, not in a take out bag with disposable containers. So...4 stars it is. But I look forward to returning at some point and if they correct those things, and the food is just as good, I'll write a new 5 star review! read more

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon when craving some sushi. I was at the SAG building and this place was near by. The plaza is small and shares it with several other businesses. Parking is very limited. I had to park at the nearby residential area and then moved my car once a spot opened up. Couldn't find any meter parking as they were all taken. I got 3 Kumo sets. I ate 2 and my kid ate 1. It was fresh and great quality sushi. We enjoyed everything and we will be back next time we are in the area. You order from a tablet and pay on your own. It was quick and easy. Check their hours. They are open from 4pm. Definitely recommend. read more

Heard so many good things about this new sushi restaurant and was so excited to try. I got their set that came with crispy rice tuna, two pieces sashimi, nigiri, spicy tuna roll and edamame seaweed salad and miso soup on the side. Price came out to be 37$ but I wanted to try a little bit of everything and was down for this little sampler menu. Really wanted to like this place but the sashimi was thrown around randomly, every time I picked a nigiri piece the rice just fell off and I thought the texture on the crispy rice tuna was stale. Side dishes and miso soup were fine but was genuinely not impressed. read more

Came here after my friend told me about their $20 Kumo sushi set, and it was totally worth it. FOOD: 5/5 The set included crispy rice tuna, a tuna roll, and four pieces of sushi. Everything tasted super fresh, and one of the sushi pieces was toro, which melted in my mouth. Amazing quality for the price. Would definitely come back and recommend supporting this spot. SERVICE: 5/5 You order at a kiosk when you walk in. Seating is limited (only two tables for now), so it's more of a quick bite place, but service was fast. The girl who gave me my order was really nice, and the sushi was made fresh without a long wait. ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 Small, casual sushi spot with minimal parking, but there's street parking nearby. All this for only 20 dollars!!! The dish was fresh, melt in your mouth, and buttery. Please go support this newly opened business! It's mostly take out for now but they have 1-2 tables for you to sit and eat there. It's a music go if you are anywhere near the area because it's an amazing deal! They make everything fresh to order. The chutoro quality was crazy! For a 20 dollar set. The spicy tuna crispy rice was perfectly crispy and the tuna was melt in your mouth and so fresh! I drove through traffic for this and have to say it's worth it. Packaging is a 10/10! They give you everything you need. Their prices for their other rolls are super fair and affordable for the type of quality they're providing. It's too tier restaurant quality! read more

This is really unfortunate but this is so of most disgusting sushi I have had ever. We came here and got the buy one get one free on the tuna and shrimp tempura. Boy, should have known the price was too good to be true. Upon walking in we notice the B rating hidden off to the side of doorway. We pick it up and the staff was helpful but when we got to the car we checked the food something was off. The tuna was a sticky texture and pink not normal spicy tuna is like that usually red. The tuna was rancid and off (fishy) and rice was old (stale) the tempuras were in-edible and rubbery and sweaty. Definitely won't be coming back, avoid read more

This is personally my favorite sushi spot in Los Angeles. I've tried a lot of different places in LA, but this one hits the nail for me because of how they season their rice and emphasize good quality fish. I've been trying to look for a go-to for a while now, but this one for sure is it for me. Chef Roy, George, and the staff are so welcoming and kind. They're funny too, I heard them re-enacting "Yes Chef" from The Bear TV show. It made me laugh as they definitely know how to have fun while serving their customers. Small spot with limited parking inside the plaza, but there's never any issues with street parking. Seats are also limited too, so order to-go if anything. Will come back (again) for my next sushi fix. I've come here twice in two days... the Kumo Set is too good. The tuna is the BEST & melts in your mouth. read more

This is the best sushi I have eaten in a long time! The fish quality is unbelievable, the tuna sashimi melted in my mouth. Chefs are super friendly, and prices are affordable. Kumo? More like "come mo" often. Never been here before but after today I am definitely coming back! Stopped by this place on a whim and boy am I glad I did. This place has fish quality that rivals if not beats sugarfish and kazunori. Not only is the quality great the flavor profiles they offer are exceptional. After hearing about Kumo Kitchen opening near us, we decided to give them a try last night. And I have to say, we were thrilled! I decided to drive over to their location to see it and order in person. It's a cute little space with a wide open kitchen and although it is rather simple, it was clean and had a good vibe. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a an extremely friendly and welcoming guy at the counter. He didn't hesitate to ask if I had any questions or if he could help me with placing my order. We ended up ordering quite a bit of food for just the two of us, but everything that we ordered was delicious, fresh, and looked amazing. We ordered 5 rolls, edamame, miso soup, salmon carpaccio, crispy rice and some salmon sushi. The rolls were the perfect size, the salmon and tuna melt in your mouth fresh, and everything else was just as awesome. We couldn't be happier with not only the food, but also with just how great the 3 guys behind the counter were when I got there. I would highly recommend Kumo Kitchen to anyone looking for fresh, delicious and well presented sushi! Definitely a 2 thumbs up experience all around and we will definitely be ordering again from them very soon!! read more

Kumo Kitchen is hands-down the best sushi spot around. Not only because the sushi itself is incredible, but because of the heart behind it. The fish tastes undeniably fresh every single time, but what truly sets Kumo apart is the charm you only find in local, community-driven businesses. You just do not get this kind of warmth and care from big corporations. Our friend group absolutely loves Kumo. We've chatted with the owners many times and they are genuinely kind, thoughtful, and accommodating. I'm vegan, and they went out of their way to create an entire vegan feast for me that was beautifully crafted, delicious, and incredibly well-priced. I felt so cared for. One of our friends eats here all the time, and she was having a really rough day. We wanted to get her a gift card, but when we went in, the owners did something even more special. Instead of a standard card, they created a cute little handwritten poster meal voucher with us just for her and found a giant bow to put on the sushi platter. They told us that when she came in, she could let them know there was a surprise waiting. They even asked us to DM them i'm Instagram when she was on her way so they could have everything freshly prepared and ready when she arrived. When she did, they made her and her girlfriend a decadent sushi meal, took a Polaroid photo of her, and she was so overwhelmed by the kindness that she hugged the owner, and she doesn't hug people often! Being able to help create that with my friend and the owners of Kumo was incredibly moving. This is what American business should look like. Community-oriented. Human. Symbiotic. Kumo Kitchen doesn't just serve amazing food. They create connection, joy, and care. And that is priceless. read more

Saw some deals online, so figured I check out in person. Spot is 2 months old and firing on all cylinders. All 3 were working relentlessly to kee up with online orders and in-person orders. Finally got home to try my rolls and sushi and was extremely pleased! Fish quality was top tier. Portion sizes were on the smaller end but correlate with price fairly! Definitely give it a shot but order online and over order! It was so good I wish I ordered more! read more

If the price point was $35 sushi set I'd give 5/5 but this is supposed to be premium omakase. I've been to other Sushi Enya locations and had good experiences, so this was very disappointing. Stick to the rolls and nigiri.

A lot more focus on creative cocktails and drink pairings instead of just sake or wine. This is a great place to try Japanese whiskey, they even have little lockers where regular patrons can store their expensive bottles they've bought for when they return, and you are welcome to grab an additional drink and chill in the space afterwards if you'd like. The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience. I like how the entrees come as a set meal with salad, miso soup, tofu, and small vegetable dishes. I've tried the nigiri sets, sushi rice bowls, and beef/rice bowls. Sushi is standard, nothing super wow but good enough. The servers are all nice and service is good. One of the servers was so sweet to my son last time. She was patient when he worked up the courage to ask for some items and brought extra cucumbers for him to snack on. We sit on the patio since our kids get a little rowdy and messy.
