Game night UYE. Doesn't need to be a UYE for there to be a game night

The Bottle Shop reminded me (fondly) of a few other beer stores in Philly. Great selection, market prices, a place to sit. What makes the Bottle Shop different to me is the staff and atmosphere. It's a seriously chill spot to hang out and they embrace that. My most recent visit was for Bill M's game night UYE. We had a nice table in the back where we could play games, enjoy any of the beers we wished to buy and even order food from local restaurants. Picture it as being at your friend's place where they have an awesome beer selection (that they charge you for). Other folks and pups were making themselves at home as well. When planning your visit, keep in mind BYO paper goods and plastic ware. Speaking of plastic, it's cool if you use a charge card, but don't forget cash for a tip- you can't add it onto the bill. Bottle Shop, you are a standout establishment!

For beer and wine lovers, this is a must-stop shop conveniently located on the Passyunk Ave. strip. Coolers full of specialty beers ( literally 1,000's ), and a very nice and fair-priced wine bottle selection make this gem the best place in Philly to grab a quick bottle of vino. A small bar with around a half-dozen handles lets you taste test, and even pour larger portions of beer or wine to go.

The folks were friendly. The space is OK, not as inviting as Hawthorne's but nicer than the Foodery in the gayborhood. A row of tables on the left side (with no one sitting), and row of big fridges on the right. It was a bit dim and low-ceilinged. Most of the beers I have tried before but the selection is not terrible. Overall, I think I'm just a bit hesitant to buy into the bottle shop idea... I know many people are in love with it but whenever that 6 pack rings up at $20 I just end up being disappointed. I feel speciality bottle shops are in a bit of a no man's land between great beer bars in the area (Devil's Den, SPTR, POPE) and great beer distributors (such as Bella Vista). If I'm going to spend upwards of $20 for 6 beers, maybe I should have spent $20 on 4 and been social at the bar or spent an extra $10-$15 to buy an entire case of good beer for home. The variety can easily be tried and surpassed at all of these bars too (and can be had even cheaper at happy hour!). I think this is just the way my mind works but I'd rather spend $100 for 3 variety cases at the distributor to keep a mix of beer on hand at home. Overall, a good addition to the neighborhood for people who occasionally grab a sixer, but I'm not sure I'll personally be heading to pay $20 for a 6 pack very often.

I live on Passyunk Avenue and have been supporting this place for years due to their expansive collection of beers and wines. However, after my experience this past Saturday, I will never be going back. My fiancé and I had stopped by to grab a few bottles of wine. While we were waiting the sandwich board in front of the shop slammed into my leg very hard. Not only did the staff not apologize, after seeing it happen. But they then thanked the person who picked the sign up. Needless to say they lost a loyal customer because they clearly do not care for the safety or satisfaction of their customers

I had been wanting to check this place out since they had opened earlier this fall, and finally went Saturday night when they were doing a special Stoudt's beer and cheese tasting. It was definitely worth the trip. This place has a good selection, and they also have a box on the register where you can suggest beers that you want to see in the cases. This place has a nice feel - sort of like hanging out in a friend's rec room, you can sit down, have a beer, and eat popcorn or hot dogs. My boyfriend and I each tried a few different winter seasonal beers, which we were really pleased with. They seem to also host a number of special events, which is always a nice perk. All in all, a good place to stop in.

Pricey six pack of Russian River beer, but worth it.

I lucked out and asked our server at Stateside about the local beer places in the East Passyunk area. I was looking for some Russian River beer and I was able to make my own 6 pack of pricey yet hard to find Russian River beers at the Bottle Shop on this evening. They have an extensive beer fridge selection from local bottles to ones from all over the world. They do offer a few brews on tap and you can open bottles there to drink, but mostly a carry out bottle shop. The Bottle Shop is a cool hangout in a cool neighborhood.

The bar is split with the restaurant half (though I think technically combined?) and I can absolutely see this place being PACKED for an Eagles game. Very reasonable pricing for beer. The service was superb. We happened to be there when AirBNB was there to take pictures and we requested not to be part of the photos. Not only were they super nice about it, they actually gave us free drinks for the "inconvenience" of having to move bars. And the vibe overall is great, very laid back but with tons of TVs bound to have whatever game you want to watch on. If you live in the neighborhood, this could easily be a go-to spot.

I especially like it here on a Monday's when they have a 1/2 off growlers. There's indoor out and outdoor seating you can also get specialty beers to go from the case and there's so much to choose from. I generally sit at the bar inside to get myself a couple samples of the new beers on tap just to help make a decision on what I'd like to take home. The staff is helpful, very efficient and friendly. The place is very clean well lit. Parking may be at a premium on certain days. What kept me from giving this business five stars is how food is ordered. I knew that they sold hotdogs because they're right on the counter next to the draft beer but I mentioned I needed a little more sustenance. ' we have a food menu you can order food' it was with other items next to the register. I had no idea it was food from across the street and it caused two different tabs. I should've been told is an advance in the end it was fine the pizza was good as was the beer but I would have preferred a heads up. If you use a credit card there is a $10 minimum if you get eight dollars worth of beer like I did it may have been a problem because I couldn't use my card for lack of cash! The items together were $24. When closing out trying to get to my movie the restaurant took an extended period of time bringing me my card back.

I do think if I went on a day where it was packed, I would not have enjoyed it as much. The racing simulators are pretty cool! The chair shakes while you are racing in order to give it as much real effects as possible. As your driving/racing you have to pay attention to the guides on the floor in colors red, green & yellow signifying you to slow down on certain curves and turns on the different tracks. When you pay for a race, five rounds of racing is included. You can pick your level of difficulty for each round. I went with "rookie" for all of my five rounds and each track was different. It was neat not knowing what to expect each time you began and it was cool to know you could enjoy it even at the most basic level, which is rookie. The food was not bad, but I could've done without it. The fried chicken sand-which was kinda salty, but I was a fan of the truffle fries. The prosecco was good, light and extra bubbly (not pictured). I think the interior was very nice! Being that there was barely anyone, I got to capture some pics which was nice! I see this as being an arcade you enjoy, when it's not many people, as couples and with some friends. Not a place to frequent often, I think.

Very disappointing experience at F1 Arcade Philadelphia during NBA Finals Game 3…read more Our group of eight professionals chose F1 Arcade to watch the game, order food and drinks, and support a local business. With approximately five minutes remaining in the game, the TVs were suddenly turned off without warning. We initially thought there was a technical issue, only to be told that everyone had to leave because it was after 11:00 PM. The issue wasn't that the venue was closing--it was how the situation was handled. No one informed us beforehand that the game would be cut off before it ended, and when a member of our group respectfully expressed his disappointment as a repeat customer, the security manager on duty, Dante, responded aggressively, used profanity, and stated that he "didn't care" because he makes more money than any of us anyway. Customer service and professionalism matter. Unfortunately, the manager's behavior turned what had been an enjoyable evening into a negative experience that left our entire group questioning whether we would return. We hope ownership takes this feedback seriously and addresses both the customer service issues and management conduct at this location.

I have gone through many iterations of my relationship with being a fan of sports teams…read more Younger me's whole personality was based around Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, Angels Baseball, and USC football. I vividly remember after the Lakers game 7 Championship win against the Celtics in 2010, 14 year old me who had just wrapped up the 8th grade, had a major realization. After a night of pure exaltation and chirping all my friends who were Celtics fans, I woke up the next day and realized my life had not changed AT ALL. I had a metamorphosis of sorts, realizing that I should put all of this time, energy, and passion into myself rather than being fans of players and teams who didn't know I existed. While I remained a fan, it was never the same. I stopped wearing my Kobe jerseys everywhere I went. I began to look at grown men walking around wearing other grown mens jerseys like they were DORKS. Don't you want to do something impactful with your life to where people would want to wear your jersey? Or wear your own, at least in a metaphorical sense? Idk. In retrospect, I became a little asshole lmao. --I promise The Garage will tie in here in a second stay with me I love this place-- It wasn't until I went to Europe on a school trip towards the end of High School when my 2nd metamorphosis began. I was OBSESSED with everything about European culture, thinking how fascinating it was that people live so differently than myself, but it's just normal life to them. My American ignorance led me to believe that everyone lived like I did, had the same interests I did. Idk, it blew my mind and I just couldn't get enough. I thought it was SO cool how passionate the Europeans were about their soccer, not realizing how contradictory this was to my own beliefs about American sports fans. I even bought a Messi Jersey and allat! It wasn't until years and years later, when I really put it together. These European Football fans were essentially paralleled to American Football fans. Both getting SO invested in these games, SCREAMING at the screen between sips of beer at a local bar like that will have any effect on the outcome of the game lmao. The older I have gotten, the more I have begun to respect the passionate sports fan, no matter what sport it is. Even if, for me personally, this passion is better to be placed somewhere else, I respect and love to be around passionate people no matter where that passion is placed. Who am I to tell someone what to be passionate about? I have gone through this life meeting people who are passionate about literally nothing, just kind of numb to life and that makes me sad and just scares me. How could you be numb to life? It's such a beautiful gift tha---okay I'm getting way too existential, let me reign it in. All this to say, I watched game 1 of the NLDS here where the Phillies were playing the Braves the other night. I feel like the reputation of the Philly sports fan is the best we have in America, and they did NOT disappoint. They were going BRAAAZYYYYYY in here lmaaaoo. Every base hit felt like a homerun, every home run felt like they had just won the mf powerball. For every single out they were counting down for how many more they needed to win. "ONLY 18 MORE WE GOT THIS!" lmao. The passion was tangible and beautiful. There was a guy slanging $4 hotdogs that were delicious, 100% pure American beef (allegedly). The bartenders were LOCKED IN, getting people drinks quick and moving onto the next. This was one of the best, most efficient bartending performances I have ever seen. Almost as efficient as a Philadelphia Eagles QB sneak. Almost. You can also bring outside food which is IDEAL, as I saw some people walking in with a couple pizzas. That's a vet move, I'll be ready next time. Also, get the grape funbag for a drink if you're feeling adventurous. Well even if you're not feeling adventurous get the grape funbag. Have I ever lied to you, my dear reader? All in all, I can't imagine a better place to watch a game. I love The Garage and I love the city of Philadelphia.
