Decent but NOT great. I had a box which I wanted to pack in a larger box with more packing to protect it. The UPS Store had nothing large enough and it and a customer there recommended this place. They had a decent selection of boxes but they were either marginally bigger or much bigger. Alright, much bigger with much packing materials. But packing materials for a single box were woefully lacking. Some very thin bubble wrap sheets and some foam sheet about 3/4" X 10" X 10". Everything else in bulk and, even then, not what I wanted. I bought the larger box and went to the UPS store to get a roll of decent sized bubble wrap which then worked perfectly. Staff did not offer to do the packing for me. read more

After dealing with archival companies based on the east coast with high shipping costs and a lengthy shipping timeline, I sought a local source for our company to be able to obtain the ever exciting polyethylene ziploc baggies with varying degrees of wall thickness that we require for curatorial purposes in packaging artifacts for long-term storage. Though I have offered to pick the items up due to their close proximity to our office, they were typically delivered within a 2 day timeline after placing the order with their excellent customer service team. I was also able to add bulk polyethylene saran wrap at a discounted rate, for the purpose of wrapping and preserving over-sized historic garbage to encapsulate it for all time. The Box Store/g2g Packaging has surely ensured that thousands of modified rocks, bags of loose soil, rusty cans, bags of broken bottle glass, unknown metal stakes, and countless other treasures of man will never be exposed to the harsh conditions of the real world outside of a designated storage facility. read more

Went in for small boxes.... as soon as I walked in the door I saw I was the only one in the "lobby". Standing behind the register was some kid..... like high school age, as soon as I merely looked at him he said " I'll help you in a minute", then just stood there. Couldn't figure out what he was waiting for that was too important to help me.... a couple minutes roll by and I wait to ask my question. Then a customer walks out of the back and completes his transaction. In that 2 minutes I could have asked "Do you have any small mailing boxes" and it would have taken 5 seconds. But NOOOOOO this kid needed to stand there silently and unbothered until the guy got back. I see people had good experiences with the ADULT staff there, maybe they should volunteer to run the front instead. They would have made a sale but instead I just walked out. read more

We had a very odd shaped antique chair we needed to have securely packed to go from Carson City to Hilo, Hi. The guy custom made the box with double walls and odd shape. The box made it to Hawaii with chair secured safely inside. The service was great and fast for such a complex package. Got it in one day. Highly recommend this store. read more

Don't expect them to know who you are or set you up with wholesale but if you just need a few boxes its fine. We've spent hundreds of dollars here and they still never know who we are and wont give us an account, unless we do a projection of future business. So... theyre just not really set up for corporate customers. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER...STAY AWAY! I honestly prefer to spend my time on Yelp writing positive reviews as a "thank you" to businesses that do everything right and deserve success and customer loyalty. Then, there's The Box Store (cue theme from Hitchcock's 'Psycho'). I should probably mention that this could be my last Yelp review, as the owner clearly stated "I will come after you" and "take you down" if I wrote this review. That's right, provide a customer the worst retail experience of their life, then proceed to threaten them. I've been here several times, but this was the first time I've had to deal with the owner, and as far as I'm concerned, will be my last. I purchased two boxes on a Tuesday, got home and found that one was too small, and went back on Thursday to exchange it for a larger size. The main sales rep, Mario, had just gone to lunch and the owner's son was on duty. I explained what I needed and quickly realized he wasn't going to be much help, pointing out boxes that weren't even close to the right size. I found a ski box that would do the trick and asked if he could trim it down. The guy looked at me like a squirrel in headlights, and said the person who normally does this hasn't shown him how and wasn't in, but he'd go ahead and take care of it. I could not have been any clearer the finished box size/packing space needed was 50". Went over it 3x - allow 50" for the box size, in addition to the end flaps. He cut the box, and proceeded to process the exchange which took so long his mom had to come out and help. The simple exchange and box trim took over 30 minutes. That evening, I found genius cut the entire piece to 50" including end flaps making the box way too short. To his credit, he was very polite, although a bit timid. I was about to find out why. I called Mario the next morning, explained the problem, and asked if he could cut a new box so that when I came in, could just swap the mis-cut for a correct one and be on my way. I was told I'd need to bring the old one in first and he asked if I wanted to speak with the owner. I said it wasn't necessary, I simply needed a box cut to the size I ordered. Told him I had a family member in the hospital and was on my way to visit, had already lost too much time the previous day, and now had to make another 30-mile R/T drive because of the mistake. Finally, Mario agreed to have it ready but 5 minutes later the owner, Shauna White, calls me...and all hell breaks loose. She refused to believe her son could possibly have made a mistake, and over the next half hour, during which she hung up on me 4x, I am treated to a yelling, screaming, crying, bible-thumping, hysterical tirade. I have no idea how religion came into it, but this woman completely lost her s*** over a box (remember the mom in Stephen King's 'Carrie'...bingo)! I've seen poor customer service by retailers in the past, but this was the most unprofessional, irrational display I have ever experienced. Every time I asked her name, she refused to provide it. When I called back after the first hang up and asked Mario her name, he said he could not tell me, then she told him to hang up on me...again. Instead of considering the possibility that maybe her son made a mistake and replacing the $14.99 box to keep a customer, she ranted and raved about her expertise, what a great business person she is, how confused she was because I seemed so happy the day before (yes, until I drove close to 20 miles home and found it was the wrong size), and then the preaching began. I could not get a word in edgewise as the histrionics continued, blabbering on and on about "God" and "prayer" and what a good person she is, all the while throwing insults my way. I gave her every opportunity to do the right thing, but you just can't reason with crazy. I would strap an item to a flock of carrier pigeons before I'd set foot in this place for packing materials again. read more
