I tend to like medium to dark roasts with warm and chocolaty notes. This one def had a honey taste (I had their house vanilla syrup added) and it was delightful! I am saddened to say, but 3rd wave is dead. If you enjoyed the heyday of original G&B and the likes 15 years ago, you'll realize quickly that as shops are now roasting their own, that the taste profile is now hitting the "sophisticated Charbucks" drinkers. As of late, every shop that we have tried either roasts their own or use roasters that are heavy on the burned taste side. I understand, majority of "coffee lovers" would probably order a 32oz coffee that tastes like horchata or some sugary flavored. I would predict that at least 75% of orders are some sort of latte iced or hot. The Boy and The Beat is a nice little shop, very modern and chill vibe. If I enjoyed lattes, this and many of the newer shops would be a pleasure, but since my palette revolts to the burnt aftertastes of a cortado and even a cappuccino, I will need to hard pass. The service was ok, one person was nice and the other hated life. It's unfortunate, but I do get it. Cater to the 75% who really are not serious coffee drinkers because they will keep coming back for that "strong" coffee. read more

I've driven and walked by this coffee shop countless times and its vibe is just so cool! I finally stopped by on a Tuesday morning and it did not disappoint. It was actually busy with folks enjoying their coffee on their comfy chairs and tables and folks lining up for their morning coffee. They had sandwich samples at the counter which was rather impressive, although I couldn't try any because they had dairy. I ordered the mocha with oat and was even more impressed with this place when I learned the chocolate sauce was made in house and vegan! I found it to be a bit watered down. The food and drinks were both excellent, and we genuinely enjoyed the quality. Unfortunately, we weren't able to fully enjoy the experience because there were no available tables. Nearly every table was occupied by one or two people working on laptops, many of whom appeared to have been there for quite a while. As a customer, I believe it's important to balance being a welcoming workspace with providing seating for guests who come to enjoy a meal. From a business perspective, it seems more beneficial to prioritize table availability for customers dining in, while perhaps designating a specific area for those who want to work on their computers for extended periods. My husband and I love visiting different coffee shops and sharing our experiences with others. We were really looking forward to dining here, so it was disappointing not to have that opportunity despite the wonderful food and drinks. The coffee shop is on the corner of the street and inside it is very sleek/modern looking with tables for working. It isn't too loud so it is definitely a place that one can work at. I am typically an iced Americano drinker, but today I got a cold brew with a heavy splash of oat milk. The drink itself is quite interesting as initially there is a bitterness that hits the back of your mouth and kind of coats your whole mouth. Then comes the sourness with a hint of something that reminds you of fruit/floral notes. It keeps me coming back for multiple sips. I would say half way through the drink, I do find the sourness that lingers not my favorite. It could be that I am used to cold brews that have sour notes that mellow out into sweetness. The lady at the counter did tell me that they offer a cold brew latte that offers a heavier pour of milk which I would be interested to try since I think with some more milk and maybe with a bit of syrup, it would round out the bitterness and sweetness will bring out the more fruit/floral notes. Overall I give this cold brew a 5/10 as it is a drink I would like to play around with customizing it to be a drink I would get more often. I would love to come back again, but I would admit the parking situation was a bit difficult so may not return as often. I will say allow yourself more time to get there to look for some parking on the street. read more

This is a quiet coffee shop with a great atmosphere! There is a good amount of seating along with moody green and black decor. There is plenty of seating, but only street parking. The building itself is handicap accessible as is the restroom. Again, parking close by may be a challenge. The pastries look delicious and had a good variety. I truly love this place. I learned about TBTB in 2016 when my pet food store and I collaborated with their Redondo store in 2016. I tried the coffee and realized they were doing something special. They don't just emphasize quality, the OBSESS over it. The staff is always immaculately trained on the equipment, technical notes of the coffees and provides super professional service. I've been meaning to visit all their stores and this weekend's Emerald Series Tour was the perfect catalyst to finally visit all their stores. There only two I've never seen and Pasadena was one of them and holy smokes is it nice. The decor is on brand and beautiful and the space is ample and comfy. I was walking after my appt and saw this coffee shop on the corner. Had never heard of it but the name was interesting and there were a lot of people inside. I decided I needed to do a little work so I went inside and decided to ask the person behind the counter any recommendations. She was very nice and I decided to get a Tea drink called Stockholm Fog which is Chai and Mocha Latte. I wanted it hot. The ambiance of the restaurant is very relaxing and there are a lot of tables and chairs to sit at. I was able to do some work while having my hot tea. The chai was very good and I liked the mix with the Oat milk. It came out in a mug with a cute flower design. This is a nice place to sit and have a drink. There was street parking so I didn't have a hard time finding a parking spot, although on same days, it may be challenging. I look forward to coming again and trying something else. read more

I love the ambiance of this coffee shop here in Pasadena. They call this the Green Shop and most fitting as i looks chill and kinda tropical. It's quiet and perfect for an early morning coffee if you want to be left alone to savor your freshly brewed cup of joe. Service is excellent. This gentleman (who is in the photo - should have asked his name) who was at the counter was gracious when I said it's my first time in the shop and he right away welcomed me with a little intro on their specialties and products. Lots of regulars getting some work done while enjoying their morning cup. For full disclosure, I ordered a sea salted latte and a carrot cake pastry. The coffee is good. 8/10 from me- smooth flavor, not too overpowering. The pastry was not palatable. 2/10 from me- way too sweet and had the consistency of a cronut. I had to toss it after two bites because I just could not. Service was fine, I didn't exactly feel welcomed upon entry. Rather, I felt like I was at a conference where I know no one.
