I placed an online order at 5:37 PM, and the estimated pickup time was listed as 5:54 PM. I was having difficulty finding parking and arrived around 5:55 PM- 6PM. I completely understand the store was closing, and I made every effort to get there as quickly as possible. When I walked in, an employee with long hair in a ponytail immediately approached me and told me the store was closed. While I understand policies and closing procedures, the interaction came across as irritated and unwelcoming. A little more professionalism and understanding would have made the experience much better, especially since I was there to pick up an order that had already been placed and paid for online. I also think the online ordering system should be adjusted. If pickups are not accepted after 5:30 PM, customers should not be allowed to place online orders after 5:00 PM with later estimated pickup times. Alfred is a solid cafe for casual coffee runs 9 out of 10 times. Not super craft but way better than many other chains. My husband only ever gets the vanilla latte while I rotate between random drinks such as the matcha latte, lavender latte, and espresso cloud which is quite tasty. Got UberEats since there is a promo of 15% OFF $12+ orders I was impressed I got my order in less than 30 min! However, I definitely think the drinks are overpriced and not worth the price. I ordered a Matcha Cloud Cream ($9 for a 12 oz). There are 2 options for the Cream Base - Organic Dairy OR Plant-Based Coconut. There are plenty of milk substitutions free of charge so I selected oat milk with less ice. I enjoyed how creamy and how the drink wasn't too sweet. However, I had high expectations for the matcha since I read that they use high grade ceremonial matcha but the matcha was very disappointing. I honestly couldn't taste the matcha at all so I'm skeptical whether they really use high quality matcha. Overall, I felt that the drink was overpriced and wasn't worth the price so this was 2/5. The World Famous Iced Vanilla Latte ($8.40 - 12 oz). There is the option for vanilla or sugar-free syrup, milk substitutions , choice of espresso, ice and sugar adjustments free of charge. The coffee was pretty good. It wasn't too bitter or too sweet. However, I don't think it was worth almost $9 so this was 3/5. I tried the DedCool latte with oat milk (lavender + blueberry + espresso) and I really wanted to like it, but it was honestly not good. For some reason, it had this salty, ginger-like taste. The lavender and blueberry didn't blend well with the espresso, and it didn't even taste much like coffee either. That said, the service was great, and I appreciated that they offered complimentary water and cups on the side for customers, especially during this hot weather. read more

I've been meaning to try this bougie coffee place for ages. So since I was in Pasadena the other day I made a point to swing by. Parking is a bit difficult sadly. The place was a bit unassuming...I thought it would be bigger I suppose. They have a cute little window sill area for pick up orders. My DedCool inspired latte was PHENOMENAL and so flavorful. The chocolate Babka was also tasty and I saved half for my daughter who also loved it. I don't know if they just forgot to put vanilla syrup in it or if the syrup was just very very mild but I definitely would not call it worthy of world famous stature. My bf and I ordered an iced vanilla latte sugar free. We found it expensive for a 12 oz cup at $7 but delicious. It was a little strong for me at first but as the ice melted it actually got a lot better which is why I'm giving it a 4. In all honesty we mostly just came to use the restroom for customers and I've always wanted to try it before given the past hype so it was a good excuse and I'm glad we tried it! Such a lovely location in Old Town Pasadena! The design inside is beautiful! During my visit I got a matcha with light vanilla syrup. It is not very earthy for those that like a more earthy flavored matcha, it is pretty smooth. However, do add sweetener if you are a fan of a sweet matcha drink. I would suggest a full shot of syrup because the light shot was not enough. I bought the cutest small sample bottle of vanilla syrup and I added more on my own and it did the trick for me. I've tried the jasmine green tea here and it's my favorite from a coffee shop. The flavor is absolutely perfect. I'm glad they sell the looseleaf bag on their website. Would love to know where the ingredients are sourced from. As for foods, I've tried the bacon and steak breakfast burritos and they were both delicious, would recommend. My experience with Alfred coffee was just okay. My sis ordered a 8 oz. hot matcha latte with oat milk and it came out to be $6!!!! For a freakin 8 oz!! Tiny little cup. I ordered their "world famous" iced vanilla latte with almond milk. 16 oz for $7.75. It tasted like any ol typical vanilla latte. Not sure how they claim to be "world famous." That's pretty far fetched. Ooof....two drinks for close to $14.00. The drinks were fine...served its purpose of getting my caffeine fix. But definitely not worth $8 for a latte. Small coffee shop..there's only a few seats facing out the window. There are some tables outside though. Closest parking structure to Alfred will be the Schoolhouse garage, $1 for up to two hours. $2 for each additional hour. Nearby stores are Alo, Nike, Sephora and Lululemon. 2 days after Thanksgiving and I wanted to test my patience and come to old town to shop. Of course I needed some fuel for this before anything. Decided to come here and try out their world famous vanilla latte I was very surprise on how good it is and had a slight sweetness to it. You can taste the coffee and vanilla. I came here with my mom after doing some shopping. Parking on Colorado Blvd can be challenging though there is paid street parking theoretically available. We parked at a parking garage located on Fair Oaks (2 hrs for $1!). This location is small with room for a maximum of 6 people staying inside, seated, to eat/drink. Definitely a to-go spot. We came toward the evening and the barista who helped us was very kind and answered some questions we had about their size options and location information. Hot matcha latte w/ whole milk 4.5/5, this is a traditionally bitter matcha latte, if this is something not up your alley I would recommend adding sweetener (which was offered by our barista). I always like to try a place's matcha without sweetener first hence the 4.5 rating as I could tell they used high quality matcha in a good ratio of matcha : milk. I was in the area to have lunch with some old coworkers and needed somewhere to wait for the Apple Store to open. Alfred's happened to be right across the street, so I thought I'd stop in and get some work done. This one is just as cute as the other locations. There aren't too many spots to work at but a bar top facing the street and a small bench on the side. Got lucky enough to get a seat at the bar to knock some emails out. Bonus points for music choice (Mandy Moore) and having a matchaga that doesn't automatically include sweetener. Will be stopping by again if I'm ever in the area! read more

Randomly stopped by when I was going to the Apple Store near by. It's a small shop with a few bar seats so you can work and outdoor seating along the alley but it's mostly a pick up and go shop. I've never been here but heard about it so I'm glad that it was along my walking route. I ended up ordering their iced vanilla latte with the cloud top, which also included some salt and cocoa powder sprinkled on top for a "tiramisu moment" which the barista mentioned. This isn't a fast coffee shop like Starbucks as they choose to craft their drink carefully. The drink was really good but I would expect it to be with the prices. I also got the feta and spinach pastry which was excellent- the croissant part was SO CRISPY but again it was pricey. Both workers were incredibly nice and the barista who took my order was super friendly and informative. Definitely stop by if you need a pick me up!
