great service ! the service was alone and doing everything herself, with a smile and didn't forget anything or mess anything up ! we were sat after 2 larger parties - so our food took a bit longer, which is how restaurants work and that's okay! we had more time to hang out and talk at our table. the brakeman burger was HUGE. i ended up tossing the buns to the side and just eating the patties - which were delicious. i got a side salad i could barely get to, also large portioned. friends got the cheesesteaks ... they were fucking delicious. i work at a sports bar in philadelphia slinging cheesesteaks everyday - and brakeman's knows how to do it right.

The Brakeman American Grill has top-5* burgers on the menu. Check out the Specialty Burgers, many of which are listed as 1/2 pounders, but (thankfully!) can be ordered as 1/4 pounders. We ordered The Southern Pacific Cajun Burger (1/2 pound burger topped with Cajun seasoning, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, and Frank's Red Hot Sauce, served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo) and The Crazy Brakeman (subbed 1/4-pound burger topped with bacon, grilled onions and mushrooms, pickled jalapenos, melted Colby-Jack cheese, served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo), which came with fries--we subbed one fries for onion rings, and highly recommend! Though the onion rings aren't the rough-batter, they were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Burgers were cooked to a perfect medium-well** and jam-packed with flavor. Indoor dining is available and there are ~6 picnic tables to the side for outdoor dining*** during these COVID-19 times. Staff were friendly and diners who'd just finished were eager to share their favorites for our next visit. Highly recommend. *Potentially #1! **All burgers come medium-well, though one might be able to request another temperature. ***Order takeout for outdoor dining, note, you cannot order beer if you dine outside.

So happy we stumbled upon this place. We were starving after driving through Yellowstone and the Tetons but didn't want to stop in Jackson because it was so so busy. We looped up through Teton Pass and north through Victor, ID when we saw this burger joint and it was awesome. When we walked in there were some people who had just left and they couldn't finish their fries. Idk how they couldn't because the fries were BOMB. Hand cut shoe string fresh French fries. The burgers were massive in the 1/2lb variety so I guess I can understand that but we were so hungry we cleaned it all up. Absolutely love a true craftsman making great food in a place like this.

Dropped in for dinner our way from Jackson Hole to Big Sky. I read the online menu before arriving, good selection but expect it to take longer than a "fast food" place. Our table of 6 was sat and they never gave us our menus, so we pulled it up on our phones. They gave us our waters, then finally we asked to order and they noticed we didn't have our menus. We all got different things on the menu. Yellowstone, crazy brakeman, brakeman, Buffalo, elk etc. These are big burgers! Everyone liked the fries. It's crazy how they Nickel and Dime you on the grilled onions, mushrooms, fry sauce, etc. My jr burger was cooked well done, even though it says medium well... I wanted pink. Another thing is that the online menu says prices include tax, but they didn't. They added tax. And the sweet potato fries were a $3 add on instead of $2 listed. Overall, the burger was ok but I thought everything was overpriced. Slow service. Cute dive I suppose.

Best sweet potato fries and fry sauce I've ever had. Hubby ordered The Brakeman burger with regular fries and I ordered The teriyaki burger with sweet potato fries ($3 up charge). We loved our burgers. They give so many fries, I dare someone to finish all of their fries PLUS their whole burger. ha ha It's a small place so there was a short wait for a table. (we just went to the neat gift shop two doors down while we waited) Loved the railroad decor.

Super nice people and a very friendly atmosphere were the first things that popped out to me here. A nice little place on our way back from the Tetons that we wanted to stop and get a burger at. The fries are top notch 5 star fries all day long. Hand cut and delicious spuds that melt in your mouth. The burgers we had were big but the flavor was just okay on them. Patties were a little dry and they lacked on flavor in my opinion. We very much enjoyed our meal and the service was fantastic. My only area that didn't fully meet my expectations was the burger.

I've been told by locals to visit the Brakeman American Grill when passing through. The interior is cozy and there were multiple board games available. At the time, multiple families were dining with their kids and they were having a great time. However, due to overeating in Jackson WY all I could manage was "The Little Brakeman" burger with fries off the kid's menu. Even though I ordered a Kid Menu item, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the burger; it's about the size of a slider and tasted excellent. I can already imagine how amazing their other burgers must be. Just keep in mind, even for "The Little Brakeman" burger the beef is cooked medium-well unless requested otherwise. The fries are string fries but cooked and flavored real well; they deserve an A!

Nice decor. Good food. Long wait. Like others have mentioned, the menu points out that food usually will take about 30 minutes to come out. So you can't really fault them for taking that long to bring out the food. It took about half an hour for our food to show up on a less busy Thursday night. Note: there was only one other party of 2 in the restaurant when we ordered. Prices are mid-range for burgers, sandwiches, and salads. You can expect to pay between $12-15 + per entree. Sandwiches and burgers come with fries, which you can upgrade to sweet potato fries or onion rings for $2 more. Teriyaki Burger || $13 Tasty burger that comes with pineapple, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions. Solid choice. Steak and Cheese || $13 Mm... Thinly sliced beef with melted cheese and mushrooms. The toasted baguette is soft with a nice crunch. The Oregon Shortline || $13 1/4 beef + pastrami with horseradish, lettuce, tomato, onions. Great if you like a kick. Cajun Chicken Sandwich || $12 Soft buns - same as the ones used for burgers. They were running low on chicken, so this was the last chicken piece they had left. Lucky us! Really nice server who checked in often. Clean restaurant interior. Straightforward checkout process where she brought out a credit card reader and printed our receipt immediately after processing. The food is good, but these aren't the best burgers or sandwiches I've ever had. The fries came out cool (not as hot and crisp as I'd hoped, but well-seasoned). Burgers and sandwiches also were more room-temperatured, which I suspect was due to sitting out and waiting for all orders to be completed before being brought out. Unfortunately while I was eating, I took a mouthful of my cheese steak sandwich to awkwardly come across a course white hair. Definitely NOT a happy taste. I first was confused, wondering if I'd gotten my own (dark) hair in my mouth, but after a bit of flailing I pulled out that white hair. I momentarily thought it might be a dog hair and threw it out. That logic didn't make any sense after I thought about it a bit more (why would there be dog hair in my food???). I tried not to let that moment ruin the rest of my dining experience... But in retrospect I probably should have brought up the incident with the staff. Lesson learned. Hopefully this isn't a commom event here! Overall decent eating experience.

Reviews and the sign don't lie. Food takes FOREVER. 50 minutes at least on a Sunday at 2pm. Everyone liked the burgers and the fries were my favorite part. Games are a nice Touch but of course missing lots of pieces. Small place. Only 10 tables or so. I tried to order the Rueben burger. They were out of pastrami. A shame bc two of their specialty burgers call for it.

Salad. Sweet fries

Be prepared to wait, but everything is made fresh and super yummy. There was only one cook and one server when we went. It's a small family owned place. The sweet fries were super yummy. I would ask what they're out of before you wait for a table. They were out of a lot of food, but we made it work.

Good food, fast service. Quiet on a snowy night. Portions were huge so glad we ordered smaller meals. Excellent for the price.

However, the weekend (when the friend group went without me) had a 2.5 hour dining experience, because everything is made in house, so there's no reheating, microwaving, etc. Things move a bit slower. I appreciate that. They warn you food may come out at varying times, but ours was pretty timely. Service was kind and warm. My Italian egg sandwich was flavorful, especially the pesto and the bread. Do yourself a favor and order the orange juice. Whether it's for a mimosa or by itself IT'S AMAZING. It does have pulp, but I am a pulp apologist, so I don't care. Restaurant is in a cute house painted the color of....you guessed it....butter. Happy to return next 4th of July!

Our coffees, regular drip and a latte, were solid and I loved how the waitress checked multiple times if I needed a warm-up (which I of course took advantage of). The smokey hibiscus chilaquiles were delicious as was the orzo elote salad. They each had very unique combinations of flavors and filled us up so much that we didn't even need lunch. We took the brown butter monkey bread with us to go and even though it wasn't warm when we ate it, it was still very tasty. Prices were as expected and service was amazing. Highly recommend.

This was probably the best meal we had while visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks…read more We had a day to explore the area and Grok (of all things/places) recommended visiting Victor and Driggs for the day. Kids had chicken tenders and the steak and fries. Both kids enjoyed their meal. The chicken tenders were huge and kid got 3 of them. The steak was about 5oz, which was a decent size for the kid. It came pre-cut, so the kiddo didn't have to handle a huge steak knife to cut it--which was nice. Both came with a generous serving of golden French fries. Fresh cut or frozen, these fries were good! Either a second ramekin of ketchup or a larger one is definitely needed for the amount of fries served. I had the burger. It wasn't fancy--just cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onions--but it was a thick patty with fluffy bun with lots of flavor. It also came with a ton of golden fries. My mom had the BLT that didn't skimp on the pork belly. I wish the stores sold thick cut bacon like that. She said it was delicious. Hubby had the lobster roll. The kids brought the purple potato chips were the neatest thing (they were good, too). The lobster roll was perfectly dressed--not too much and not too skimpy--and tasted surprisingly fresh. This place is a little more upscale than some of the other places we've eaten at this week. We were welcomed as we were--shorts and tees. Other guests were dressed casually, not overly fancy. The adjacent museum was a cool place to visit, too. It housed 3 restored Navy planes that were neat to see. Since we're headed home tomorrow, we won't be back, but if we were staying longer, we'd make the ~hour long drive just to eat there again!

However, our food experience was also mixed. We shared a soup du jour (potato bacon broth based) which was awesome. Parmesan fries app came as a generous portion and were pretty good as was our elderberry mocktail. The big disappoint was the tandoori chicken which the waitress recommended but we found to be very dry. It was described on the menu as having a yogurt marinate, which was already mixed into the dish, but we couldn't really taste it. The tabouli/rice that came with it was also dry and didn't have much taste. The waitress was nice and tried to get more sauce but when she couldn't, she brought olive oil and vinegar which was ok but at that point I would have just liked something different as it was pretty mediocre. Forage is a nice restaurant with some nice options but you should expect to spend a fair amount. I would expect the fine dining experience quality to match the price, but we had enough good food here that I would come back to try something different.
