I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I've ever had. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely full, but it's a very small dining room with only about 10 tables. We only waited about 10 minutes to be seated, and after seeing the great Yelp reviews, we were excited to eat there. There was only one larger party of eight; the rest of the tables were small groups, so nothing suggested the kitchen was overwhelmed. We were seated at 6:10 p.m., ordered drinks, and placed our dinner order shortly afterward. Then...nothing. We waited so long that we ordered a second round of drinks, assuming our food would be arriving any minute. After finishing those drinks, we finally asked about our order around 7:30 p.m.--more than an hour after ordering. The response from the other server was disappointing. Without any real apology or concern, we were simply told it would be another 10-15 minutes because they "had lots of to-go orders." If the kitchen was prioritizing takeout over guests who had been sitting in the dining room for well over an hour, that should have been communicated from the beginning. Then 10 minutes later, to make matters worse, the other server to whom we inquired --not even ours--brought peppermints to the table to "help with our hunger." Whether it was intended as humor or not, it came across as incredibly insensitive given we'd been waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes. At that point, we asked for our bill for the drinks and decided to leave. Unsurprisingly, our food appeared almost immediately after we asked for the check. By then, the experience had completely ruined our appetite. Our actual server did apologize, and I appreciated that, but it was simply too late to salvage the evening. I've eaten at countless restaurants over the years, and I have never experienced anything quite like this. Long waits can happen, but a restaurant should communicate honestly, apologize sincerely, and make guests feel valued. Unfortunately, none of that happened here. We left disappointed and I feel the need to warn others. I felt bad for our actual server (who we tipped normally) because she couldn't help the delay in the kitchen or her coworker's behavior. read more

New name: Ethiopia Burger. I was just covered in flies for an hour while I waited for one of the most mediocre burgers you could pay for. HOW ON GODS GREEN EARTH DOES THIS HAVE 4.5 STARS?! I kid you not, this was hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had in my entire life. We waited over an hour for an overcooked burger with a leather bun. The windows are covered in tiny bugs, flies galore, and the service was god awful slow. They went on a 30 minute wait with 3or 4 open tables that they were too lazy to bus to get more people dinner (there's only a dozen tables). This review doesn't do this dump justice. Save yourself the pain of waiting at your table and go anywhere else. Drive to Jackson for Pete's sake. Don't forget to tip! read more

Teton Pass was closed due to a road collapse, so we decided to stop here for lunch before taking the long detour to Jackson. Glad we did! Friendly staff, excellent burgers, fries and onion rings. Speaking of staff: it's only two people - the cook and a server. The place was busy for a Sunday (Father's Day no less); but these two handle things wonderfully. Bathrooms were quaint, clean and well stocked. Great little place - prices are commensurate with what is going on in with the current inflation. Regardless, will go back when passing thru. read more

Food was good. Got there at open (we were 3rd table). They have a sign about not being fast food, but we had no idea it would take just over an hour to get our food. What was weird the two tables that walked in mins before us got their food in about 30 mins, ate and left before we got ours. There was one guy in the kitchen. At just less than an hour, we were ready to walk, but knew we would have to wait some anywhere else we went. Assume it was not the norm, but when the food came out almost all the tables came out at once. We can't believe it can take over an hour, then 6 tables come out all together. We ordered The Southern Pacific Cajun Burger (1/2 pound burger topped with Cajun seasoning, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, and Frank's Red Hot Sauce, served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo) and The Crazy Brakeman (subbed 1/4-pound burger topped with bacon, grilled onions and mushrooms, pickled jalapenos, melted Colby-Jack cheese, served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo), which came with fries--we subbed one fries for onion rings, and highly recommend! Though the onion rings aren't the rough-batter, they were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Burgers were cooked to a perfect medium-well** and jam-packed with flavor. Indoor dining is available and there are ~6 picnic tables to the side for outdoor dining*** during these COVID-19 times. Dropped in for dinner our way from Jackson Hole to Big Sky. I read the online menu before arriving, good selection but expect it to take longer than a "fast food" place. Our table of 6 was sat and they never gave us our menus, so we pulled it up on our phones. They gave us our waters, then finally we asked to order and they noticed we didn't have our menus. We all got different things on the menu. Yellowstone, crazy brakeman, brakeman, Buffalo, elk etc. These are big burgers! Everyone liked the fries. It's crazy how they Nickel and Dime you on the grilled onions, mushrooms, fry sauce, etc. My jr burger was cooked well done, even though it says medium well... I wanted pink. Another thing is that the online menu says prices include tax, but they didn't. They added tax. And the sweet potato fries were a $3 add on instead of $2 listed. Super nice people and a very friendly atmosphere were the first things that popped out to me here. A nice little place on our way back from the Tetons that we wanted to stop and get a burger at. The fries are top notch 5 star fries all day long. Hand cut and delicious spuds that melt in your mouth. The burgers we had were big but the flavor was just okay on them. Patties were a little dry and they lacked on flavor in my opinion. We very much enjoyed our meal and the service was fantastic. I've been told by locals to visit the Brakeman American Grill when passing through. The interior is cozy and there were multiple board games available. At the time, multiple families were dining with their kids and they were having a great time. However, due to overeating in Jackson WY all I could manage was "The Little Brakeman" burger with fries off the kid's menu. Even though I ordered a Kid Menu item, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the burger; it's about the size of a slider and tasted excellent. I can already imagine how amazing their other burgers must be. Just keep in mind, even for "The Little Brakeman" burger the beef is cooked medium-well unless requested otherwise. So you can't really fault them for taking that long to bring out the food. It took about half an hour for our food to show up on a less busy Thursday night. Note: there was only one other party of 2 in the restaurant when we ordered. Prices are mid-range for burgers, sandwiches, and salads. You can expect to pay between $12-15 + per entree. Sandwiches and burgers come with fries, which you can upgrade to sweet potato fries or onion rings for $2 more. Teriyaki Burger || $13 Tasty burger that comes with pineapple, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions. Solid choice. Steak and Cheese || $13 Mm... Thinly sliced beef with melted cheese and mushrooms. The toasted baguette is soft with a nice crunch. The Oregon Shortline || $13 1/4 beef + pastrami with horseradish, lettuce, tomato, onions. Great if you like a kick. Cajun Chicken Sandwich || $12 Soft buns - same as the ones used for burgers. They were running low on chicken, so this was the last chicken piece they had left. Lucky us! Really nice server who checked in often. Clean restaurant interior. Straightforward checkout process where she brought out a credit card reader and printed our receipt immediately after processing. The food is good, but these aren't the best burgers or sandwiches I've ever had. The fries came out cool (not as hot and crisp as I'd hoped, but well-seasoned). Burgers and sandwiches also were more room-temperatured, which I suspect was due to sitting out and waiting for all orders to be completed before being brought out. Unfortunately while I was eating, I took a mouthful of my cheese steak sandwich to awkwardly come across a course white hair. Definitely NOT a happy taste. I first was confused, wondering if I'd gotten my own (dark) hair in my mouth, but after a bit of flailing I pulled out that white hair. I momentarily thought it might be a dog hair and threw it out. That logic didn't make any sense after I thought about it a bit more (why would there be dog hair in my food???). I tried not to let that moment ruin the rest of my dining experience... But in retrospect I probably should have brought up the incident with the staff. Lesson learned. Hopefully this isn't a commom event here! Overall decent eating experience. read more

The portions are large, but my burger was not worth the $19 I paid, like I said I might have to try something else my next cidit The elk burger was decent, we don't get elk where I'm from. The problem was that it doesn't stay together. I'm all for a well topped burger, but I don't want it falling apart. I also don't want all the cheese to melt off. I want cheese on every bite. My recommendation is to scan through the photos & menu and give it a chance, but not sure what to recommend besides fries. The additional toppings are over priced, but taste ok. 2nd Visit - September 1st - the junior brakeman was just the right size, avocado was fresh & the fries are still amazing. Delicious! Hubby and I have driven through Victor many times over the years but never stopped to eat. We decided today was the day to enjoy some local cuisine. He ordered The Barnyard Special - they gladly customized his order: no onions or mayo. Egg was perfectly cooked to be included in a sandwich/burger. I ordered the Union Pacific and added sautéed mushrooms to the bacon and bleu cheese. Heavenly. Next time we will downsize our burgers to a quarter pound rather than the half pound as standard on the menu. (Comes with two quarter pound burgers stacked on one another). So much deliciousness. We set aside the buns and ate our burgers and toppings with knife and fork. And the fries! Not quite shoestring - moist and crunchy. Remember, "This isn't fast food. There was a line and we got in fairly quickly. The server was fine with me running to the drug store to get my wife. Service was quick and friendly. We had a Yellowstone burger, which was huge. My wife asked for the junior but I think they gave her a double, instead. No complaints! She had sweet potatoes fries which were cooked perfectly.
