I do not usually write reviews of businesses but this case is an exception. I had a 30' pine tree that was slowly dying in my back yard. I contacted the Branch and Derek came out the next day to take a look. He assessed the situation and estimated a fair price. He said that he had a crew in the area and that they would be able to remove the tree when they were finished with their current job. Within a couple of hours Trevor and his team showed up and within an hour they had the tree removed. They did an excellent job and also cleaned up after themselves. The next day Derek called and was kind enough to instruct me as to how stop the stump from regrowing. We were referred to them by someone in our HOA community for tree and stump removal at being excellent at what they do, efficient, timely, and fair in their pricing. My husband made a call, we got a quote in, and within days their crew came out to take out this tree that was eating our front yard. We didn't even know what type of tree it was (who ever built our home didn't specify what or how big it would get) and they told us after the quote. The day of removal they were in and out in about 10-15 minutes shaving off the huge tree, clearing the stump until it reached the tops of the grass blades (which were short), and cleared all debris for us. The stump removal was an extra fee but it was necessary--we wanted to remove all we could. Super impressed and I got to watch them work through our security cam. Now we don't have to duck under the branches, or brush up on our sweet karate moves every morning, wondering if spiders have taken refuge and created a large home covering our walkway from the top of the tree....it was that bad-- the karate and overall situation. I used The Branch on a couple of occasions to trim trees at my home. The work was okay and the pricing was fair, so I was a returning customer. My experience this time was not nearly as good as the prior times. What I noticed is that this small company has gotten really busy - probably the success due to Yelp reviews. This time I did not feel that the company valued my business. Getting a bid required me to take a lot of photos which were too many to email. I was on the verge of giving up at that point having to do all of the work to get a bid, but finally after a lot of back and forth, Trevor agreed to come take a look at the work. The verbal bid that I got was very high, so I reduced the scope down to 6 medium sized trees from 21 small to medium trees -- likely will be about 4 hours work for the six trees as the trees are not large. Even with the substantially reduced scope, the revised written bid only went from $4K to $2K. Also, it's summer so they are really busy and it would be a month wait until they could do the work. Because I was struggling this time with The Branch getting a bid that seemed fair for the scope of work and the long wait to get the work done, I decided to get comparable bids from other licensed, fully insured, tree service companies that have certified arborists. I recieved 3 qualified bids, all of which were approximately 50% to 65% less than The Branch. Turns out that because I felt that my business wasn't being valued this time by The Branch it ended up be a good idea to seek other bids. Obviously, The Branch can charge whatever they want, but in my case this experience was a good reminder to myself to always do my homework before contracting for work at my home. read more

Trevor and his crew are just finishing up a big job in your backyard. A couple of years ago. Trevor cut down a 90 foot Mexican palm in our side yard that any other tree service would have used a gigantic cherry picker to do. He did it all with ropes and pulleys. His skills as an arborist are incredible. After this job, he honestly told us that we didn't need to water our podocarpus trees as much and that might be why they needed so much pruning. Tree service companies can be marginal or very good but the very good tend to be expensive. The Branch turned out to very good and reasonable in price. First - I called and someone actually answered the phone. It was Trevor. He arranged to come give an estimate the same day. Second - he explained what he could do and what he recommended we not do. We wanted two trees close to the house removed, the queen palms trimmed, and the pygmy palms trimmed. Third - he send us an a proposal by DocuSign which was detailed and very professional. Fourth - he showed up on time. Fifth - he requested that I do a walk around with him before he left during which he explained all that he did. Sixth - his clean up was immaculate. He had to trim 6 queen palms around a pool so I was worried about debris in the pool and on the deck. He got it all and just few pieces of plant material ended up in the pool. I could not be more satisfied. Seventh - Trevor quoted the job and did the work himself - that is all the climbing, cutting, and trimming. He had help with the clean up. Eighth - Owner Derek Long is a certified aborist and his son Trevor, who is studying to take his aborist license test, clearly knew his trees and possessed good trimming and climbing skills. Trevor dressed professionally when he made his bid, he spoke professionally, he was not at all pushy, and worked with me on the scheduling of the work. Ninth - This company is fully licensed, insured, and has work comp coverage. As a homeowner I wanted to make sure I was covered should something happen. I know this insurance is expensive because tree trimmers have the highest work comp insurance of any profession in this country. So I knew this would be a big factor in pricing, yet I was pleasantly surprised with the price - it worked out to about $200 per hour for two men, a truck, a chipper, and all the climbing gear plus chain saws. This is a very reasonable price. It was nice to see that Trevor and his helper, Gustavo, wore all proper safety equipment from helmet, to goggles, to ear protection. Tenth - I had two stumps removed close to the house. Trevor used multiple shields to protect the stucco, the sidewalk, and to prevent debris flying around. He went at least 10" deep so I can grow plants over the old stump area right away. All and all I could not find any fault with this company and would strongly recommend them to anyone. I intend to use them again when those dang palm trees need their annual haircut. read more
