I contacted The Branch on July 8th for a quote to remove 1 Jacaranda tree. Derek asked me to send several pictures and replied with a price range of $600-$700 and we set up an appointment for a site visit for July 11th. On July 10th I received a call from Derek, saying he was confident he could do the job for $600, which I accepted and scheduled their first available for August 14th. On August 1st I texted Derek to confirm our appointment and get a bid for further work, trimming a couple large Eucalyptus trees. This time Trevor wanted to come out and he did so on August 4th. When I received the revised bid with the addition of the Eucalyptus, they increased the original quote they gave me for the Jacaranda to $850, almost 50% more than originally quoted. When questioned about this increase on a already agreed upon price, Trevor and Derek said they were glad they actually came out as the Jacaranda was larger than they thought (even though they were the ones who cancelled our July 11th appointment and told me it would be $600). After some arguing, Derek begrudgingly agreed to the original price. But then said his first available is September 17th (I already had a confirmed appointment for August 14th, however Derek claimed he didn't have it in his calendar). It appears The Branch does great work from the many 5* reviews but have become too busy to stay organized. I do want to point out that both Trevor and Derek stayed cordial and professional throughout, and I'm sure they do excellent work, they just need an office assistant. read more

Had sort of a tree-emergency where our tree had half fallen over due to a recent wind storm. The Branch was able to respond in less than 24 hours and even on a weekend and resolve the issue by safely removing the tree. The whole process was super fast and they quoted a very reasonable rate. Derek and his crew did an amazing job removing a large queen palm and some boxwood hedges from next to our driveway. He was on time for our estimate appointment, gave me a quote via email within a few days, and was able to schedule the work to be done quickly. Derek called Dig Alert for me so I had one less thing to worry about. When I told him we wanted to cement over the area where the tree was, he offered to run the stump grinder over the entire 9x12' area to break up the palm roots and make the concrete layer's job easier and cheaper. I really appreciate this "above and beyond" approach. The crew showed up on time, had the work done and cleaned up in 1.5 hr, and Derek came to my door to have me look at the work before they finished up to ensure I was satisfied. Derek himself worked the job with 2 other crew members, I was very impressed that he had such a hands-on role with the job rather than just passing it off on his crew. We had called the Branch a few years back to trim the 9 Queen Palms in the back yard. They did a great job. Then when the time came to trim came around again, we (sadly) chose another company recommended by our HOA as they were giving "deals" to residents. Wrong choice! They trimmed the trees, but left a mess in the pool and we still see the spike marks on the trees from their boots. So this year, when the time came to trim the trees, we didn't even consider getting other companies to bid-- we called Derek. He came out to give us the estimate, which was right on what we remember and exactly what we budgeted for the work. He scheduled us out a week or two because of his work load. Less than a week later, he called and said they "had a crew in the area that had finished up early, and could they come by now?" Trevor was professional, as always, and did a fantastic job. He asked me to come outside so he could explain what he'd done. And the clean up was wonderful. We had an Oak Tree that from the first floor of our home, blocked the view of Lake Hodges. We had The Branch (Derek) come out and take a look at it. It was also near some power lines, they gave us a very fair price and we had them proceed to just cut the top of the Oak tree down so we can see the lake, we didn't want to cut it all the way down. They showed up early, made sure we were happy with the view and had their chipper there to clean up after. We are incredibly happy with their professionalism and service!!!! Don't bother requesting quotes from anyone else. Of the 6 that responded, 3 made appointments, 2 showed up and this was the only quote I got. It came with proof of insurance and workers comp. They were cheaper than guys that left flyers in the driveway. There was a bit of a wait between contract and removal because they are booked up, another good sign. On removal day I knew I had chosen correctly the second they backed the wood chipper in. All employees had eye pro, ear pro, helmets and were a professional crew that knew what they were doing. The Branch is awesome. We had 10 very large trees which were planted way too close to the house. I was concerned for my property but also for my family. We hired the Branch to remove all 10 of the trees. Some of the trees were growing over my house. I was worried about damage to my house during removal. A big tree (18 ft) in our front yard fell over due to rain and wind last month. It fell onto the front sidewalk and we wanted to get it taken care of as soon as possible. We had Trevor from this company come by for a quote. They came quickly and on the weekend even. Trevor seemed to be very knowledgeable and willing to explain things to us. I told him that we were shopping around for the best company at the best price, and he seemed to be understanding. His quote was a little higher than others but said they would work with us and could get it to one of the other companies quote. While we didn't use this company, not because they didn't seem good but we were able to get another company in quicker and cheaper. We were so pleased to find the Branch on Yelp. Trevor was so professional and when he came to give us a quote on doing our trees. A Japanese Maple that had quite a few dead branches and a very large Elm. The quote was extremely fair but at the time we could not afford it. I wish I had gotten to see how great this company was per the previous reviews but he made an appointment to give me an estimate then called 5 minutes after he was supposed to be here and said that he didn't have any other work in the area and asked him if I could send him photos instead. His estimate was fair but I had many other questions that needed addressing that required someone in person...so gave my business to the guy that did show up. Call me crazy..but I'm getting really sick of flakey business practices so am quick to reward the good ones Update: Wow..surprised by the owners reply to my post. My husband and I were very pleased with some recent work we had done by The Branch -- removal of a very large alepo pine tree and maintenance work on three palm trees. From the beginning they were GREAT at communicating and always returned phone calls and emails promptly. This might not seem important but when we had tree work done a couple of years ago I was a bit surprised at how many tree companies (didn't know of The Branch back then) never return phone calls or would just no show for an appointment to provide a quote. As for appointments, they showed up for both the quote and tree work day early/on time, and the maintenance and removal were finished within schedule. I was quite surprised on how smooth everything was handled. I called for a quote and Derek showed up and I explained everything I needed done. By that night I had received a quote. I had one more company coming over for a quote and they were $200 more than The Branch. I accepted the quote from Derek the next day and he was able to schedule me two days later. Seriously, I was considering hiring my gardener to trim my trees, not really knowing the difference a certified arborist would make. I'm SO GLAD I made the right choice and went with Trevor and The Branch. They are awesome. The quote for 4 trees was about $400 and they did all the clean up - and our trees look amazing. We had a 14 year old ficus in our back yard that was causing problems with its invasive roots. We needed the tree removed as well as removal of large bushes, ground cover, and pruning and trimming of giant bird of paradises and palm trees. Been putting off having our two large Trees trimmed for years. Time seemed right so we dove into the process of finding an arborist. Didn't want someone who thought "topping" is the same as trimming. Looked around on line and was very impressed by the before and after shots The Branch showed. Found out we had alders as soon as they got here for the estimate. (I just called them Big and Messy).
