This legendary Hillcrest gayborhood bar and club has friendly folks and amazing Happy Hour that goes till 8pm featuring $4 beers and $8 cocktails and pitchers. Big spaces and nice dance floors, with windows wide open on two sides of the building. The last Friday of each month is country line dancing! Free lessons, so fun!

We came in because of the deal they had advertised but I think it was misleading. They had one that said $8 for a pitcher but the pitcher is the size of a glass and they charged more anyway. That wouldnt have been too bad since its still a bit of a deal but the staff was very rude (which is something I never say). When we asked for the $8 pitcher and he asked which one, we said the one that was $8, he said he still needed to know, so we got the hazy. When he gave us a higher bill, we asked why it wasnt $8 and he said "tell me what you got" multiple times even when we asnwered to drill in that it was a hazy and not whatever the other one was even though we originally tried to order it. Overall I think we probably just had a one off bad experience but I probably wont be back.

The bartenders were quick and sociable. Wasn't really a busy night so it was not hard to get anything from bar. Watch a great show with good ppl around. The lighting in the bar was very chill and not too flashy. Didn't try any food since we ate before coming out. Definitely would come back again.

Beer bottle and ranch water with tequila and a splash of grenadine.

Does anyone know if you can avoid cover charge on Saturday if you come before 10PM (as Fuego is scheduled from 10-2A)?

It depends on whether or not there is an event before with cover. We host multiple events throughout the month, some with and some without cover.

The daytime bartenders are the best and a big part of what makes this place such a great local hangout during the week. Weekends have a different vibe and tend to bring in more out-of-towners, so you get a bigger mix of people and a livelier crowd. Whether you want a laid-back afternoon, something fun to do during the week, or a busier night out on the weekend, Flicks is always a good time.

Honestly, this could probably be a really great spot, but they seriously need to pay closer attention to capacity limits. There comes a point where a packed bar stops feeling fun and starts feeling like a human game of Tetris. I definitely don't wish anything bad on a gay bar or a space that's meant to be safe and welcoming for our community. That's exactly why I think this is worth saying: if there were ever a fire, emergency, or any situation where everyone needed to get out quickly, the level of overcrowding I experienced could become incredibly dangerous, very fast. Hopefully management takes a closer look at this, because a fun night out should be memorable for the right reasons -- not because you spent half of it wondering where the nearest emergency exit was.

It's one of the few lesbian bars left in the US, so that alone makes it a must-visit, but the experience keeps us coming back. The vibe is always energetic, and the staff genuinely make it special, their personalities suit the place perfectly. Even though we're just visiting, they make you feel like a local who's been coming in forever. It has that neighborhood bar feel every single time. Food-wise, this last visit we had the steak sandwich and it was delicious. Their chicken fingers and fries are also excellent and as a self-proclaimed chicken finger connoisseur, that's saying something. Also a great spot if you're nursing a rough "morning" (or afternoon depending on when you roll out of the house) after. Gossip Grill is a staple every time we're in town, and Hillcrest in general just has such a great energy. Highly recommend.

My friend ordered some green drink too. Avocado Toast was delish, the bread was killer and avocado to veggie ratio was on point. So . . . About last night was a very generous portion and definitely on the heavier side but very yummy. Shrimp and Grits was full of flavor and cheesy grits were so velvety smooth. Stitch gobbled up his eggs and my friend thoroughly enjoyed her drink too. Definitely coming back for music and trying their regular menu items.

It's so easy going and chill here, but also very social and friendly at the same time. It reminds me a little of my home bar in North Hollywood, Los Angeles (The Bullet Bar). Bartenders are amazing (including Dutch who I remember from his days at Redwing) and I even got to reconnect with some of my SD friends I haven't seen in 7 years. Nor been into Pecs since 2018. I've been here during San Diego Pride in summer (July), causal hangs in the winter (like now) and a variety of fun things. We've been in a bit this weekend. Including on our way to tthe "Bad Bunny Bowl"! But also Go Seahawks! Nice bar eats when available. Veggie friendly. Website could use a little modernized tlc, but their IG and FB stay updated. Parking isn't your bestie, boyfriend, sir, or someone you know well lol, but the true locals recommend a ride share, early times and carpooling. We drove around on a Saturday night for quite a while and lucked into a sort of parking spot without restrictions. Restrooms are solid. Seating around the bar area and on the outskirts including a long beach or two fills up, but if you're patient something will open up. They typically card everyone at the door so please bring your non expired ID since no matter your age it's prohibited to serve adult beverages to anyone. Pecs does it's best to be a great bar so let's do our best to keep it that way. Open 12PM til Midnight daily, and until 2AM on Friday/Saturday.
