I really enjoy Baja Betty's. I have been there periodically through the years.... sometimes for happy hour and other times for brunch. In the past, I remember a large buffet brunch, which I hear they are brining back. Most recently, some friends were visiting from out of town. They make a point to go to Baja Betty's every time they visit. It happened to be my birthday weekend, and they let our server know it was my birthday. We ended up with free watermelon shots, and a funky inflatable crown and a sash for photos. Brunch was great. We did the bottomless mimosas and our friends enjoyed margaritas. They had fun virgin drinks with rubber ducks for the kiddos. I really enjoyed my breakfast bowl with chorizo. We also got a free birthday dessert which was plenty large to share. It was sort of an ice cream stuffed churro. We got a tour of the backroom, which is beautifully decorated and is reservable for private parties. What a great place for a party! Anyway... Baja Betty's is a great place for good food, friendly service, and a fun atmosphere.

Okay so Betty's is one of my San Diego homes-away-from-home. I've been a lover and patron of this establishment for almost the entire 22 years they've been open. What's not to love? The service is fun and no matter how packed it is they are always on top of their orders and their customers. The bartenders are fast and make a great strong cocktail. Betty's is a restaurant first and foremost so don't be shocked to see families dining here. The food is always yummy and well-portioned. The Mexican Pizza is my regular go-to with my bestie. He and I are absolutely creatures of habit. In fact we just visited for our regular order. There's always music bumping in the venue. During the day the ambiance is pretty mellow but happy hour definitely gets rowdy and loud and so much fun. Love you to bits, BBs!!!

this place was so cute and fun! came in for a brunch and ended up doing the bottomless mimosas with the 30 minutes we had left. our server i believe his name was jacob, was sooo sweet and quick to refill our drinks to make sure we got our money's worth. the food was pretty good as well. i'd definitely come back and do mimosas right LOL

Service is 5 stars. Very quick, efficient and friendly...Ambiance is the best...Great music, great people and quality food. The Guac is most try!!!!! First time here and I'm mad at myself for waiting this long. Patio was popping, drinks were flowing, and the service had attitude--in the correct way. Fast, funny, and on point. I ordered the coconut tequila cocktail (I swear it was called Coconut Chanel or something equally dramatic) and it was dangerously good. The chicken avocado tacos were gone in minutes. My friend got the mahi tacos and we swapped--because obviously--and that dill-cream situation on the mahi is unreal. Loud, fun, delicious. If you want a dead restaurant with whispering and sadness, go elsewhere. I'll be back.

The food and drinks are ON! I had the blackened shrimp taco and Baja fish taco. The guacamole is fresh. Their queso dip is also good (get the white cheese--much better). The only thing I didn't like was walking over to the bar to order my food & drinks then walking back to my table. I know they get busy, but I'm not a fan of this process--almost like do-it-yourself service. Besides that--I liked it!

If you want delicious, strong drinks come here! The margaritas are delicious and the shots are delicious. The servers are super sweet! However the food is not great, the rice and beans had no flavor and the tacos made my stomach hurt really bad. The ambiance is upbeat, a great place to come if you want to catch up with friends. Parking was pretty tough to find.

I'm visiting from LA, and have been fortunate to have had some amazing meals in SD, but I think Baja Betty's is the best yet. The bartenders were absolutely adorable (and one had the most amazing mustache), I love that the restaurant is openly LGBTQ friendly, but above all else, the food was just damned good. I ordered way more than one person can possibly eat, since it was my last meal before returning to LA, and I left bursting at the seams and happy AF. The chips, like other reviews have said, were spectacular. The queso blanco was so good, the ceviche was amazing, and I think I've run out of synonyms for how good this place is. The portion sizes were incredibly generous, as are the wine pours. At the end, I ordered a milk punch, which turned out to be the best cocktail I've had in recent memory. It is dangerously good, as in you can hardly tell it was alcoholic, it was so damn smooth and delicious. I wish I could stay another few days so I could return and try more of the food.

Papi Hour is potentially the best Happy Hour in this city! Every food item is $6.50, sometimes with a $3 upgrade for meat. And they don't skimp on portions, like so many places! Queso Dip: Had that nice nostalgic Cheez Whiz feel, but elevated. I think they might have mixed some salsa in here too, for extra flavor. Super addictive. Bonus, since you can eat the queso soaked bowl afterwards! Green Chile Queso Blanco Dip: Kinda like white American cheese mixed with green chiles. Though they might have used fancier cheeses than that. This too was delicious! I can't even begin to try to figure out which queso I liked more, since both were amazing. Mexican Pizza w/ Carne Asada: Way better than the Taco Bell version! Light crispy "pizza" base with so many great toppings like one of those 7-layer dips. Plus the nicely marinated and grilled carne asada was wonderful in the mix. Cheese Quesadilla w/ Chicken Adobado: Super cheesy. Stuffed with nicely spiced chicken chunks. Quite delicious and filling!

Its always best to have a reservation but I have gone many times without a reservation and was able to be seated within 10 minutes.

Hello, did they discontinue their weekend brunch buffet? Is it just order off the menu only now?

Unfortunately due to Covid, we now have a dedicated brunch menu for the weekend. You can view it on our website.

Are the beans (refried or black) and rice vegan (no chicken/fish/pork etc stock)? Looking for vegan items on menu.

They do have refried beans and black beans as well. Not sure if the rice is vegan tho. They do have some vegan options but it's best to. All ahead to see exactly what they offer.

Are there bottomless mimosas on Saturdays?

We do bottles of champagne for $15 everyday!

Is it a pet friendly place(:?

Yes, 2 of our patios are dog friendly

Hi, I'm looking to have a bridal shower here ! 👰 is that at all possible? And would a few decorations be allowed?

What happened to your kids drinks? We were told tonite, that you don't have them anymore. Also, when did you go to only Cole & Sprite? I could have sworn I've gotten Dr. Pepper there before.

Hello! We had to get rid of Dr. Pepper due to lack of use, but we still have Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Lemonade, and Horchata. We do still offer child cups so I am not sure what happened with your the server. Maybe just an oversight or they were…

Do you have to be 21 to have brunch here?

Hello, you do not have to be 21 to have brunch here.

Is there Happy Hour here? On food too?

    We do hae lunchtime specials.

Has anyone taken kids here before or is that frowned upon?

Definitely kid-friendly in the sense that Betty's is very accepting of their presence. As a parent you need to be aware that they have an extremely diverse clientele, and you may find yourself dealing with questions about lifestyles if your child…

Any vegan options on the brunch menu?

Not strictly identified as such, but like with a lot of Mexican places it is easy enough to make a vegan option, particularly with the customizable burrito option, which is what I did.

I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)

DJ decided on a house margarita. Both very refreshing on a still summer Sunday morning! The brunch menu has a nice variety to choose from, but choosing one can be a little hard. I ordered guacamole to start. It came with two delicious salsas. For breakfast, I ordered the pancakes and carnitas. I would say this would be the equivalent of chicken and waffles. This was really good! Especially when you drizzle the syrup on the carnitas and eat it with the pancakes. I also added a couple of scrambled eggs. DJ had the breakfast carne asada potatoes and eggs. Came with guacamole and pico de gallo. Soooooo good! The portions are huge which, in this crazy world of cutting back and charging more, is how it should be. I could only finish half, and had the rest the next day. Love when you can do that! Again, the staff is great! And the patio is well laid out for owners and their dogs. Cako Approves!
