Love Urban Mo's! I came here twice with my friend. We went here during pride a few years back and the latest time was for a show! They do shows every Wednesday and it's super affordable. It was my first time watching a drag show and it was the best experience ever. There were the perfect amount of tables and so so much fun. My friend and I got tater tots to share (which were absolutely delicious by the way). I can't wait to come back here and try more of their food and watch some more shows!

Came here for happy hour and dinner. Amazing service from Becky really set the tone from beginning to end of our visit. We got the Cheap Slut Burger, Chicken Wrap with Fries and beers of course. The food was delicious and the music made it so much party. It's definitely always a party when you visit MO's.

Review is for Babette's Bingo! @ MO's. First time here for bingo. This is not a drag show with multiple entertainers. It's just a bingo event hosted by the legend Babette Schwartz. As a group we were busy eating/catching up and kept missing numbers being called out. There is no digital board to show the numbers visually and recounts were rare. Overall, Babette is amazing and kept us entertained. The crowd is so supportive and fun! Tips: Put in your food and drinks order early as they get busy and wait time for food might take longer than usual. Ours took over 30 mins. It didn't help when some of our orders went to the wrong table. The food menu for these type of events are limited. You don't get the restaurant full menu. Our waiter is very attentive and cute. For dry January, I ordered a soda and he gave me a mini pitcher of coke. Overall, we had a great time.

I absolutely love MO's and have been a regular for at least the last 15 years. They have the best drag shows, food is exceptionally good for being a "bar" and of course the yummiest and strongest cocktails! Mariam T is my favorite drag performer and Becky is always my server and girl when we visit. I can't say enough good things about this place!

Saturday night, Pride weekend 2025. I'm so surprised how good the food was, how great the service was (Adrian thank you!) and how quick we ate and then out on the dance patio for a few more drinks. Urban Mo's was a great starting spot for our Saturday night. The burgers were delicious. The fries were great. I thought okay...a gay bar on pride weekend...good luck finding a seat, good luck finding something good, and friendly?!!?! Urban Mo's was all of that and more. We will be definitely be back! PS - We also got to meet Lexi Love from Rupaul's Drag Race. She was so sweet.

Seriously, I'd give nine stars if I could. The space in Hilcrest is cute, with a relaxed vibe during the morning and party vibe later on. We were there on a Sunday and the servers were all dressed to match a midday drag show that was scheduled for the day which made it extra fun. Everyone working was so nice, and our server was the exact right level of attentive. The menu is fun, with lots of great drink options and plenty of NA drinks too. We had breakfast, and I ordered the chilaquiles, which is a risk if you've read my other breakfast reviews. But in this case, while it was a bit more of a deconstructed vibe vs traditional casserole, the dish had the right texture and amazing flavors. Total flavor bomb with tons of sauces and salsas made in house. I was super impressed and can't wait eat it again.

Medium rare prime rib special on Wednesdays.

Stopped by over the holidays; the decor was over the top with an abundance of teddy bears. Imagine my surprise when I saw prime rib on the menu. This is a Wednesday special for $29, and I had to get it. I ordered it medium rare but it came grilled on both sides. It was dark inside and I was initially worried that the piece of meat would be well done. But, as I cut into it, I could see that it was at most a medium, and it was tender. I think it's a faux pas to grill prime rib slices, but I think they do it as their way of reheating the (usually) pre-cooked prime rib. The meal was satisfying and well worth the $29, but my cocktail tasted a bit dilute.

Got a deep tissue massage from a place in PB and she recommended MO's as the service is fast. Loved the tortilla soup and the chicken sandwich, fries were crispy and delicious. I also asked for the thousand island dressing, bleu cheese, ranch dressing. My only complaint was the music was way too loud and I sat behind the stage. Will come back when no music is playing. :-)

MO's is one of my favourite places in Hillcrest. I love this venue! I've been dined, danced, drank, and enjoyed drag in Mo's for the three decades it's been in business. Back in the day, I enjoyed the weekly ritual of Spaghetti and Show-tunes with friends which is still a staple of Mo's. The diverse drag shows and drag queens that perform here are exceptional! The long running Dreamgirls Revue with Chad Michaels is always professional, well done, and fabulous show. Mariam T. is absolutely wonderful! She's the ultimate wacky comedy and performance queen with the most incredible and realized costume visions. Her Lisa Frank inspired Bride of Frankenstein and Pride fits this year have been a couple of my favourites. The food is very California Mexican fusion. I highly recommend the nachos with chicken and the shredded cheese. Perfect shareable meal. You can never go wrong with their breakfast style brunch options either. My favourite servers, Danny and Danny, always greet us with a smile and a hug and fantastic service. Now for the cocktails...drinking in Hillcrest is not for the faint of heart of the weak of stomach. Bartenders like Pablo know how to take care of their customers. If you are a lightweight I cannot stress this enough stop overindulging and not making it to the toilet and soiling the bathroom floors for someone else to clean up after your foul habits! Be kind. Respect the community and the establishment. And for Pete's sake...tip the staff! I love you, Mo's!

Was invited to the Christmas drag show. Packed house and the servers did a good job but they were way over worked. Food was good and the show was good but there were so many people the performers could not properly work the room so the energy was off. Other than that a good time was had by all.

Happy hour sign that they will not honor

My friends and I stop here every time we are in SD- I love the ambiance and have always had amazing service from the bartenders on both sides. Recently however the waitress wouldn't honor their own happy hour...the signs were on every table and outside and it was well below the cut off time. She was SO rude about it- she said they stopped happy hour at 5....we were polite but again, the signs are clear so it was odd.

Looking for a lively good time where the vibe is always inclusive? MO's is always where it's at, and beyond their ample bars there's even food to ensure your energies are well-stocked. Servers are all great in their own unique way. Dennis is my standout for fact that he was my first server at MO's (Hamburger Mary's back then). He's always "on it," ensuring every guest is well taken care of each and every time. 5 out of 5 for sure!!

LOVEEE trivia night with Miriam's!! This is a very spacious bar with I'd say 3 sections: 1 section that is mainly seating, 1 section around a middle room placed bar, and then 1 section towards the back for dancing and where trivia happens. Food is delicious and the servers are so kind. I don't come here to dance just for events. Parking can be hard since it's hillcrest but that's usually well known. There is a paid parking lot on the corner of Washington and 4th. read more

Updating my review since their menu has changed! Honestly? I think it's even better then before. We got the French onion short rib skillet and it was rich, delicious, and so tender. Hard to believe it's bar food to be honest. We also had an amazing server in Dennis. He was attentive and so kind when we brought concerns up. More then accommodating and wonderful!! Friday's don't feel right without seeing Dennis (server) and a martini at MO's! I love that he knows my order, anticipates our needs, doesn't rush us, and never spills a single drop of my martini...ever! He's a total animal lover, so I vibe with that! He's genuine and is one of the biggest perks of going to MO's each week! In addition, the food is great, which I had never expected the very first time I ever ate there. In general, I'm obsessed with the pot pie, wraps, and brunch entrees. But to be honest, it's easy to find great eats in SD, but much harder to find overall great energy! It's the staff that keeps this place in our weekly rotation; THAT is what makes MO's special. It doesn't get much better than weekend brunch with Marcus and Marisol! Or having a a fantastic bartender (Jimbo, Pablo, Brandon, etc.) make you a cocktail! Side observation: They have a host (Collin) who is the nicest, most efficient host I've ever seen in San Diego! He really should be a server though because his talents are not being maximized (just my opinion). All in all, this place is one of my faves!! read more

Came here to catch the Halfway to Halloween show and was so excited! The space is so colorful and enticing and I loved how organized the staff was with helping us find our seats, and friendly throughout the night. I ordered the fish and chips, and though they came a little late (during the show so I felt like I couldn't eat out of respect to the amazing talent) it was pretty delicious, even cold haha. It is on the pricier side but the portions are generously sized. My only complaint is that some of the bathroom stalls don't close or lock, so it was a little awkward/uncomfortable. I did ask someone if they could guard my door and they did lol. Otherwise a great and fun space that I'd definitely come back to. read more

Great food with many choices on the menu (including brunch), generous on the drinks, good selections for non-alcoholic choices and some of the best live entertainment around. Stage area, bar area and seating...you'll find a spot to be loud and visit, or be just a little more low-key. Fair prices, great service! read more

Bianca, the security at the front, did the most amazing job not only handling a very intoxicated guest who broke a glass but also made sure he got water and an uber home. I was beyond impressed with her sensitivity and skill at deescalating the situation. Great job Bianca and great job Mo's with hiring the right people! This is why I keep coming back! Great people, great energy and everyone is well taken care of! read more

How is it a gay bar and yet an amazing restaurant? MO's is just sheer joy. So fun. We go for dinner all the time and stay for the drinks, the shows, the many amazing events that happen. It's kind of indoors and kind of outdoors, which works great in San Diego. And the food is really wonderful- and healthy (try their ahi tuna anything). What an awesome spot. It's fun and energetic- it's the epitime of an awesome gay bar to hang out. And the staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. Thanks MO's - you are a highlight of HIllcrest! read more

Think of the meatiest Bacon Cheeseburger you possibly can imagine. Now make it meatier. Now add garlic fries and call it $18. That's Urban MO's. Each portion size is massive and made with lots of love, and the servers are eager to make any and all accommodations. We were bummed we came too late for the drag show that night, but the DJ had all the hits playing and we couldn't help but be the only 2 on the dance floor after a mango margarita. The place is massive and has an area for everyone, how could you not be entertained!? read more

Such a fun place with already fully loaded and grand holiday decor! Great spots for pictures, two fully stocked and functioning bars and a good sized dance floor. The staff was awesome, helpful and friendly and the bartender was generous with the pours. We had some food leftover items from our dinner and although these were not allowed inside they have a designated holding spot, which we totally appreciated because we didn't have to carry them around inside. We stopped by on a Friday and my only reason for the missing star is due to the music that night. I was hoping to get a little dance in but all that was playing was Taylor Swift music... then again with all the TS pics everywhere, maybe it is a Swiftie locale and I wasn't informed either way, would prob give it another shot and just visit again on a different night. read more

Saturday brunch is ON ONE. Our faves we're Edamame and Sakura. Lovely host, they took care of us. For$10 ticket we got 2 hours worth of a performance. It was 5 or 6 queens doing 2 routines each along with crowd work and crowd participation. They have 1's ready to go if you need cash. Their drinks are fun, also strong lol. Food is solid. I mainly go to Urban Mo's for the drag shows hosted by Meriam T and all the other fabulous performers! Five stars for the shows, and I will continue to support them! BUT..... the last three shows we have had Derek as our server and he is absolutely the WORST SERVER THEY HAVE! Our orders are wrong - the drinks are wrong and we had to finally go to the bar to order more drinks! Everyone we talked to near us had the same reaction!!! I met some family friends for happy hour on a variety afternoon. Don't sleep on this place. Get there early as the dining room fills up quickly. We had some delicious martinis and tasty. Food has been happy. Everything is in the service. I even came back the next night For some cocktails and wings while sitting at the bar great establishment great service unbeatable value. The decor is absolutely stunning. They have a cute flamingo neon lamp at every table when you're ready to order, you just turn it on! It's a great touch. Our host was Strawberry Corncakes and she was hilarious! She was very engaging and shared a lot of funny stories about herself that kept the crowd laughing. This felt like cashless event, so have your Venmo ready to tip the host. My friends arrived 15 minutes early, but the server didn't mention the 4-6 PM Happy Hour; when we asked at 6:00, we were told we'd missed it and the next one wasn't until 8:00. We ordered right at 6:00 PM, but food didn't hit the table until 6:45 PM. The room seemed understaffed with what seems like only one waitress and one server. Once it arrived, the food was actually very good. Our favorites were definitely the devil eggs of the month: Spam Musubi Deviled Eggs and the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. They advertised a $5 "Pussy Punch" special, but we were charged the full $7 on the bill. It's a small discrepancy, but it felt a little dishonest. Also, note that a 22% gratuity was automatically added for our party of six. Overall, I love the aesthetic and the talent, but I'm not sure if I'd come back specifically for bingo.

It's difficult to even get into the parking lot, which is in a tight strip that's in between the sidewalk where the restaurant's building was located and Harbor Drive, which has its own navigating issues with the street also being the main drag to have access to the airport. I had to circle around the area using PCH to get back onto Harbor, then approach the restaurant from the north. When I got into the "lot," I had to flag down a couple of valets to ask if they had any open spots. One of them told me to circle back around AGAIN to get an open spot. I decided to heck with that and just pulled into a parking garage on Ash St. just 50 yards away from the restaurant. Once inside, we were able to get into a private dining area for my mom's party. The eating space was nice and spacious, acommodating for our party of at least 20 people. The restaurant is also very nice and clean. The entrees and appetizers did seem like standard wedding fare, though. I ordered the braised shortrib, and while it was good, I couldn't escape the impression that it was something that one would normally eat at a wedding reception. The beef was soft and tender, the mashed potatoes creamy, and the carrots were cooked very well. I enjoyed the strawberry lemonade cocktail and appreciated that they reduced the vodka content so that I wouldn't get so buzzed from one drink. Eventually, I had to order a regular lemonade though, which I did enjoy. It was sweet and not overly sour. Also one point in their favor was the clam chowder starter course. That also had a little sweet flavor to it, which was definitely preferable to having an overly salty taste. The bits of bacon in the chowder helped to cut down the sweetness. The desserts were pretty standard fare. I liked the chocolate brownie more than the raspberry cheesecake. I will also note that the two servers we had for the dinner party were terrific. My name is Taj and I am the resident DJ at Urban Mo's and also have the honor of being a guest DJ in a few other popular clubs in town. I would like to take this opportunity to respond to Zack A's misrepresentation of me and my career. I normally would not bother responding to anything on Yelp but because of the nature of Zack's posting, I think it is very important for me to clear up some of his inaccurate information and defamation that he has written about me and my work. (which I believe goes against Yelp's guidelines for reviewing if you take the time read them) Listen, I am a DJ and I completely accept the fact that there are going to be people who are going to criticize me and my music because it's all subjective and it just comes with the territory. I have been doing this for over 10 years now and understand that we are all entitled to that opinion. Heck, there are some big name DJs that have legions of fans that I am not a fan of! No one is exempt from that! The way I see it is that for every person who thinks "I suck" there's going to be 10 more who think the complete opposite. So if Zack is not a fan, I'm OK with that because I know I can't please everyone all of the time and that I have built a pretty solid fan-base for myself over the years who I try to cater my music to and keep happy. What I DO have an issue with is the blatant mistruths that Zack has written in his review about me that I wish to address and clear up here and now... In Zack A's very derogatory review, he resorts to a lot person attacks and name calling, claiming that I am a "DJ impersonator" who "mimes" my way through the craft and throws on "mixtapes" (which I believe he means "mix CDs" since you wouldn't find tape decks in any respectable DJ booth in this day and age) to deceiving people into thinking I am spinning when I am not. This could not be further from the truth and goes completely against everything that I stand for when it comes to my work ethic involving my career. I have NEVER practiced this kind of trickery that I adamantly look down on and would never consider it! Heck, I only recently converted to digital DJing with Serato because for years I was under the false impression that the software would beat-match for the DJ, taking all of the practiced skill out of it which I am also very against! It wasn't until a peer of mine sat me down and showed me that the Serato software does not integrate this kind of feature or any other cheating "short-cuts" that made me decided to convert! My old-school train of thought about DJing is that if you are not going to take the time and energy to learn and practice how to mix yourself, you have no business in a DJ booth! Does that sound like someone that would want to "mime" his way through his craft? I have worked very hard and continue to do so on a daily basis to provide a sincere and enjoyable live set for my dancefloors. To address Zack A personally; From the language & name calling that you used in your review of me, I think it's pretty obvious to anyone who reads it that there may be something else below the surface that's really going on here. It's not even a review as it is more of a personal attack. If all that you have to back up your argument that I am a bad DJ is a blatant lie, then I think it goes without saying that you don't have a whole lot to stand on in the first place. You called me a "mime" in your review but even your analogy couldn't be further from the truth... You see Zack A, not only do I not "mimic" the skill of being a DJ but also unlike a "mime" I will not stay silent as you make these false accusations and I will use my voice loud and proud to defend myself and the career that I love and have worked so very hard at to get me where I am at today. With that said, I invite you Zack A to please introduce yourself to me and I would be more than happy to let you into my DJ booth wherever I'm spinning to demonstrate to you my mixing abilities and that there are no "mixtapes" required in the booth when I am spinning. This invitation is open to anyone actually! As a matter of fact, when I DJ at Rich's on certain Saturday nights, the DJ booth is pretty open for people to stand directly behind me and watch me work. People do it on a regular basis and until this bogus Yelp review, I have never been accused of such a ludicrous claim in my entire career! If you actually read this entire posting... First off, sorry it was so long and secondly thank you so much for taking the time to read this and allowing me to defend myself against Zack A's inaccurate and defamatory remarks. Obviously I am very passionate about what I do, so it would be nearly impossible for me to stand up for myself in only one or two paragraphs. I go to this place many years and wow security is so bad now to the point he called me names and was starting a fight with me but i decided to ignore him because he was probably drunk !!! Yeah the SECURITY!!!!! So what happed was I went alone to the bar to meet people and eat and drink . The people to the right had issues with this guy but was so nice they didn't tell him to leave after he kept drinking and smoking inside and he was told 4 times not to smoke at the bar . Instead of kicking him out they gave him 4 chances until one of the guys had enough and went and got security because he was touching his friend and just being a drunk . Well they finally kick him out made a big show and the guys was talking to me and ask me questions like who's fault it was lol so I answered and started having a conversation. Well another security comes this is the RUDE ASS DRUNK one probably !! And says I need your number just in case if the police gets involved because when they finally kicked him out it was to late he was drunk drunk and they PEPPER SPRAY THE DRUNK !!!! So unprofessional from the first security for not kicking some one out the first time and the 2nd security soooooooooo unprofessional because he told me I was a little girl and I'm a lonely bitch that has nothing to do but get into peoples conversations , he said so many more bad things to me that is like really ? People come alone to meet people so how am I sad loser??? That security is so bad I don't think I'll ever go again !!! Also little that he knows they asked me for my opinion !!! And also I ended up going out and drinking with them some more at number 1 because I was leaving because of the security was a ass hole to me when I did nothing and they decided to come with me so security looked stupid when all 3 of us walked out together! I still can't believe he was calling me names and being aggressive. SO IF THIS ASS HOLE PEPPER SPRAY HIM I CAN BEAT HE DID IT JUST TO BE A ASS HOLE!!! First, let's be clear... I am a fan. There is so much culture going on here, it's ridiculous. What kind of culture... I'm not sure exactly, but it put me out of my element, fer sure... and that's always a good thing. Came here with a girlfriend on a Saturday morning desperately looking for a good breakfast after a workout in the park and G'dammit if that line at Hash House gets any longer.... So, Mo's it was. Service is lacking a bit, but it does have that "you're at our house" feel to it, so you're just casually kicking back waiting for your friend to come by and give you some attention. Problem was, we did not feel like part of the "friends & family"-- hetero, female-- nuff said. Ok, so we get it and we're still able to enjoy the scene, just leaves you feeling a little awkward, you know? Like the real friends and fam are wondering who let the strangers in... Food was good, large portions-- breakfast, pretty easy. We had a breakfast burrito and the Huevos Mexicana- both delish. And all the other plates surrounding us looked pretty great as well. Was not a fan of the baby bottle creamer-- something just kinda gross about that. The only real bummer, however-- is the smoke. Such a great patio, would love to be able to enjoy it and a great meal with friends, without feeling suffocated by the smoke-- it's just not appetizing at all. At the end of the day... I have so much fun here every time we go! ANY day of the week is always going on! I took my friends here during City Fest and of course it was packed full and people were smiling and having fun. I have spent many night in SF where the fun never stops but this place never stops even if it's a sunday night and we all have to work in the morning! The nights differ in terms of music or what's playing in the speakers. One night was cowboy country night with line dancing and the two step. There are drag queen shows whcih light up the night and always keep you amused. The bartenders are known by name and many people come JUST to see the them. The are not your typical bar tenders, they are upbeat, colorful, and always ready to make you anythingh you can think of. Watching what goes on behind the bar is like watching a show, itself. people flock to the bar area because the vibe is always good, its like the heart of the place. I've seen magazines and various media types come in to take pictures or film the bartenders. Never a dull moment there. You can eat there, too, but its not the place I would suggest for food. Its just simple dishes, hamburgers, fries, etc. but for fun, this is definately the place to see and be seen, gay, straight, or just curious. Early fun any day of the week. read more

Two stars. One star for the stiff drinks, one star for the pretty good sandwiches. Negative one million for the most obnoxious staff I've ever seen at any business, much less a restaurant. You walk in, the hosts (there are a couple just standing there) ignore you for a couple minutes, then finally seat you. Then it's 10 minutes to get your water, and the waiting begins. It's pretty clear that this place is popular and has lots of regulars, that may be the only way to ever get a refill or have your server ever come back. Because there might be a slim chance that you were never given any silverware, and be forced to eat like a chimpanzee. To the semi-drunken tranny that said "whatever" when we simply asked for napkins, you hit the nail on the head. As in "Whatever the h-e-double hockeysticks are we doing here when they clearly don't want us?" You were just the icing on the "I'm never coming back to this place again" cake. Unless you're a 19 year-old slosh, or want to spend hours getting two drinks and watching the bartenders play grabass while intentionally ignoring you, avoid this place like the plague. Hula's is right across the street, you can get good drinks, good food, and have a kickass time without being around snotty A&F juveneilles. read more

My favorite place to eat, gossip, be seen and see friends! First off, it's a very fun atmosphere. Lots of people always popping in and out, music is fun, screens are full of interesting videos and TV's play some sports etc. The waiters are super nice, the bartenders make really good (and strong!) drinks, and they're really fun and cute too :) Then there is the food. It's a bar and restaurant and really the food is outstanding. Casual and plentiful, the food does not disappoint. I highly recommend the chicken wraps and the club sandwich. Their french fries are crispy with good seasoning. And now to the best part...chicken strips and mini mo's! Those two I dream about. The ranch is outstanding!! You really won't get a bad meal here. AND try it for breakfast. Sometimes I take myself to the bar on Friday mornings (Jason is the best bartender) and get the Eggs Benedict...perfectly poached eggs and nice lemony hollandaise. They have fun happy hours, lots of entertainment options to choose from beyond the restaurant and it's always hoppin there. I call it the nexus of alternative lifestyle!! Ok, I KNOW this used to be Hamburger Mary's - the legendary place of the gay party scene of San Diego. In fact, that is why I am still giving it 2 stars. This place was like the gay wild west - drunken frat boys yelling and making out with their girlfriends and each other, military brats drinking away at the bar watching sports, big groups of sexually undetermined girls, straight and gay couples drinking together - ALL SMOKING. Isn't bar smoking illegal in California? All I know is my clothes reeked of cigarette smoke after I left and the even more tacky scent of Mardi Gras-ness and Boy/Girls Gone Wild will never come out. I know it should seems like some great big free love paradise, but the result was more like mixing polyester plaid pants with a silk ruffled top, a handlebar mustache and a neon orange afro. Uuuuuugghhh! I wanted to run, not walk, RUN out of there after being in there for just a few minutes. Staff seemed nice and all, but again, it just felt like getting a nice massage after being raped. Sorry Original Mo's - there will be no MO of me going there - I don't think I could take it! read more

5 Stars - Early Bird Special with Sass! Listen, I'm not one for crowds, so Urban Mo's at 9 a.m. on weekends is my version of church. You've got the place practically to yourself, which is perfect if you're allergic to people like me. Now, let's talk about the real gem here: Mike Munson, the bartender, a legend in his own right. Mike's got that unique charm--you know, the kind where if he acts like a bit of an ass, congrats, you're in his circle! But if he's nice? Either he doesn't know you yet, or he's made peace with the fact that you're only here once. Pro tip: if you ask him for silverware, don't hold your breath. Forks and knives are apparently only available on a "fingers-crossed" basis. I think he's testing my patience, but hey, that's love in Mike language. The drinks are solid, the vibes are unparalleled, and Mike might throw in a bonus smirk if he's feeling generous. If you're up for some early-morning shenanigans with a bartender who keeps you on your toes (and your food utensil-free), this place is for you. I am brand-new to San Diego, and this is one of the first spots I checked out this past weekend... and boy, was I not disappointed! Being a now-single older gay man, I was nervous and skeptical about checking out the gay bars, since my experience has been that they are composed more of younger gay men. I simply thought I would be out of place, but Urban Mo's proved me wrong! It was a very diverse demographic at the bar (and at the tables), and everyone was super-friendly! If you have never been here, you have to check out their food menu! I have never had a burger so good at a gay bar (of all places)! It was one of the most delicious burgers I have ever had! The staff was all very kind to me, and they also took the time to give me suggestions about where all I should check out in my new home of San Diego. I am so excited that I can walk here from my new home, and with Pride right around the corner, I cannot wait to continue supporting my new Cheers! I came to this place for the Taylor Swift dance party. I came with some friends and made a new one so I'm glad I wasn't alone here. Some people were weird and others looked sketchy. Nothing wrong to say about the staff though. The staff here was super friendly and great. For the bar, I got an Afterglow drink which was pretty good. One of my friends got the same one and the other got a Reputation drink. I didn't taste that one. I didn't like the fact that they played mostly dance remixes of the Taylor songs. They also kept repeating the same ones after a while. I've been to several of these dance parties already and I liked the music choice better at the other ones. I also felt that the DJ did not interact with the audience as much. Overall, decoration was good, staff was good. It's just the vibe of the place felt off. I probably won't go back here for another Taylor event. read more

Such a lively & festive place to grab a cocktail! It's a very upbeat atmosphere with music always jumping. Although, I've never eaten a meal here, my friends say the food is great & they have daily/weekly food specials. This place gets packed & has indoor seating, a dance floor & an outdoor covered patio bar area. I love how they go all out with fun decorations inside & out. I love stopping in for Martini's AND they are filled to the rim & larger than other bars. BUT, my favorite part of going to Mo's is being waited on by my favorite server, DENNIS!! He works his adorable butt off! He goes above & beyond for his customers. Always has a smile, super friendly & engaging & has a very keen eye for detail! I will not sit in anyone else's section. I've been going to Urban MO's for over 20 years, and Dennis has been our server for just as long. At this point, MO's wouldn't feel like MO's without him. We come in weekly for happy hour and always make sure to sit in his section because the experience is just better with Dennis. He's consistently friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, the kind of server who remembers you, anticipates what you need, and makes you feel completely at home. Beyond the great service, Dennis is just a wonderful human. He's a big cat lover and has shared stories and pictures of his cats over the years, which somehow makes the whole experience feel even more personal and warm. Urban MO's is always fun and welcoming, but Dennis truly elevates it. He's a huge reason we've been coming back for decades, and he's a big part of what makes this place feel like home. read more

Holy crap, I love this place!!! I just can't help but have fun when I come here. I came here again just recently, but I want to talk about Mother's day this year, if not only cuz that's a better story. That was my first time here I think, and I volunteered to be DD so my Mom and Aunt could enjoy their mother's day in style. Bottomless Mimosa's and a Buffet fit for royalty for $20?! Hell yeah! Don't let my little bro hear it, but Mom totally called me her favorite child after drink five or so :) The servers (and patrons, actually) are always extremely friendly, and I always make it a point to bring out-of-town visitors here at least once during their stay. Racist staff. the vibe is very pretentious from most of the clientele...the drinks are a bit watered down & the bar tenders give service solely on tips even though tipping is common in bars they make it their focally point which gives a feeling of unappreciativeness...& this is one of the larger "Hot Spot's" of San Diego...Goes to show you a tiny snap shot of the party scene of "AMERICAS FINEST CITY" Oh & be-careful as the police wait around the Club to issue DUI's better to take a CAB or Park away from the Club so the Staff don't Snitch on you to the Authorities for having a few martinis!! You would be shocked how little alcohol it would take to land a DUI here in California! read more

My son and I totally enjoyed our recent visit to Urban MO's! We were greeted at the entrance and showed to a table immediately. It was a really fun atmosphere and everyone seemed to be having a great time! Our server was attentive and very helpful, giving us recommendations on what to order. I swear my meal was one of the best I've ever tasted! I had a chicken and cheese quesadilla with sides of guacamole and sour cream and it was incredibly tasty. My son had a Tuna Melt with fries that was also delicious. Throughout our meal, we were treated so well and we'll be back again soon! I went to a charity event where they were donating a part of proceeds toward charity. There was construction going on so the bar was split in two and it was kind of confusing. I usually see it crowded but it was about 70% full on Thursday night, probably due to the construction. It seemed like a good bar and happy hour sort of place but I'm giving it 3 stars because the waiter forgot my order and I had to wait like 30 minutes for a simple appetizer. The only saving grace was that it tasted pretty good. I recommend coming here with friends. It's also a gay bar if you didn't know, but there's usually a good mixed crowd on most days. read more

There's so much Mo's have going for them. The shows, great food for a gay bar, RuPaul's drag queens contestants on the regular, string drinks, etc. Then there's the smoking. Whether you're inside where it is not allowed or on the non-smoking side of the patio it is always there. People will smoke outside the plastic screen where your eating.They'll walk into the non-smoking section of the patio and it is up to the customers to say something. I've yet to see staff call them out. Sadly it has lead to me frequenting non-gay bars for a healthier, more breathable environment. It's a shame as the gay establishments are dwindling in SD. read more

After years of going there, and being a big spender and excellent tipper, I've decided to stop going there. It has become kinda weird the past year -- they have too many "security" guys, many of whom are hetero and homophobic. The last night that I was there, I was waiting outside for my cab and overheard the newer blond'ish security guy make a comment about "fags" to another newer security guy. I told them that I overheard them, and they didn't care -- in fact they asked me to "move along!" What the hell? They lost a high-value customer, and I'm telling anyone who will listen that they can have more fun going elsewhere. read more
