The wife and I closed out our Pokemon hunt at this little gem. The beer selection was extensive and well-rounded. The space was reminiscent of my favorite pubs in the UK. Service was friendly, if a little slow but the wifi was speedy. The food was a bit hit or miss. We loved the peri-peri hummus served with a pretzel, spicy and well-balanced. However, we both found the BBQ sauce on the sliders to be a bit sweet and one-note. The chicken nachos were not my favorite. I love the idea of using peppadew peppers, however, there was nothing else on the nachos to balance out the sweetness. The pico de gallo was fresh but lacking in spice. Was SO excited for the Brass Tap to open. Looked EXACTLY what I was looking for in a local pub. So when I saw the fB post to come and enjoy the Spurs game, I was in. Took my hardworking 20 year old son with me for dinner and a top shelf beer for myself. AFTER opening a tab was informed 1) the Brass Tap is 21 and up only after 8:00. We arrive at 7:35. So your son will have to leave in 25 minutes (the game started at 7:00) 2) Well at least we can grab a bite. Nope. The BT offers no food, but you can order in or go get food from the other Main Street restaurants. Remember to ask them for silverware. Promptly at 8:00 a different bar tender arrived to tell my son he had to leave. Now. Wow, was so excited for this place and it really turned off in a matter of 30 minutes on day one. read more

Can I give 10 stars? Because this place deserves it! Don't even know where to begin with how much I love this place but I'll start with the fantastic staff. They KNOW their beer! And I certainly do not know my beer. So I loved being able to tell them what I like in a beer and next thing I know, a fantastic tasting brew is sitting in front of me. I have never in my life liked any dark beers, until the staff here introduced me to one they knew I would like based on what I told them. And it was great! There is something for everyone, even non beer drinkers have a good selection of ciders that I'm going to bet you will like. The decor and feel of The Brass Tap is great. The inside feels like an old pub, with hardwood floors that were original to the old soda fountain that was once there. And the outside deck off of the back is extremely comfortable even in the Texas heat with the fans blowing. Round Rockers have a new gem in this place! I think I'm going to become a "regular" here. I met my coworker here after work this weekend. I had NO IDEA this place existed! It's a pretty nice little spot. Their focus is mostly beer, craft beer to be exact but also have a full bar and a kitchen. We met with one thing on our minds, BEER! The staff was extremely friendly and almost always smiling. We tried some beers that we've been wanting to try and had some that were totally amazing. I really enjoyed hanging out here and will probably go back again. My only gripes? Be expected to drop some $$ on some rare or hard to get beers. We spent $22 or so on ONE 12oz beer. Our server did the right thing by making sure we knew. read more

They've priced me out of their business. This market won't stand these prices. We've been to the Brass Tap several times and thought it was great. Always paid with credit card and never thought much of it. Tonight I paid with cash and looked at the bill. We had two beers and the total was $16 because the Paulener Heifeweizen I had was $10 and the tap beer my wife had was $6. Never again. On the Saturday before St. Paddy's day me and a friend of mine (who recently moved here from Ireland) decided to check out Junior's. As they have picnic bench seating it wasn't long (the first ten minutes) before my friend accidentally placed his beer right behind me and I knocked it over with my elbow. It was early in the evening (around 10pm) and we WERE NOT drunk. It was just one of those things. I asked to be comped since we were new to the location and it was an accident. This was a draft! I have been to bars where they comp you a pint just for being new. The assistant manager said no so I asked to speak with the head manager. She was incredibly indifferent and rude. She said she can't comp every beer spilled and even smirked when I implied I would write this review. That people would think I was crazy for believing mistakes happen. She was truly an awful person and should not be in management of any kind. Well, my friend and I moved over to The Brass Tap after she ASKED US TO LEAVE. The Brass Tap treated us like kings and even comped a beer just to make up for Junior's bad behavior. I can't recommend THE BRASS TAP more and they have made a customer for life. As for Junior's--- I will never set foot in that joint ever again. And I will recommend such to everyone I know. They lost a potential customer over a $7 draft pint! THE BRASS TAP is my kind of place and the design is truly beautiful. The General Manager actually designed it himself! And Brooke, who was our bartender, made sure we felt like respected patrons. I'm not going to comment on prices here. That's been done and I don't want to be scolded by the owner. I am definitely going to comment on the lack of knowledge the staff, especially the bartenders, have about beer...in a beer bar! Good grief. They are not helpful or engaging in any way. In a bar, the bartenders set the mood and can really make or break the experience. Our server did try but told us she wasn't necessarily a beer drinker. I was excited to see this bar come to Round Rock and it looks cool. Love the cigars and such. However, it was a rather uncomfortable experience. Sad. Superb bar in the heart of dt round rock. Super comfy booths, rotating beer selections on tap ( this time around I tried Mead!) They opened a great backyard section with indoor and outdoor tables. They have some stellar music options- my favs are the elvis impersonator and the blues singing- both stellar. Will visit this place often. read more

I stopped in The Brass Tap to give the place a try. I was greeted by Erica who at first thought I was there to clean the tap, which I can understand since I wasn't wearing my Sunday best lol. After that confusion was cleared up I had a cigar on the back patio and sampled their bar food and tried the banana bread beer. I've been to the brass tap many times. It's a great place! However, our trip today, and possibly the last, is due to one bearded gentleman. He was more concerned with the guys at the bar (one being an employee) to mind the people paying. Our questions were answered in a demeaning way and his overall attitude left us with a very bad taste in or mouths. Last night a small group of us were out Celebrating a Birthday and walked in the last few minutes of the UT game. Which we were EXCITED that they were winning and were expressing that excitement. A few of the guys were WHISTLING and the OWNER TRAVIS came to our table telling us NOT TO WHISTLE, when we asked why, he told us "Im the OWNER and I said so" Im sorry but WRONG APPROACH for the OWNER to #1 be a JERK and #2 to allow his Customers be ENJOY their selves while at a BAR. Now I understand if we were the only ones BUT NO WE WERE NOT \the only ones expressing our excitement but I guess thats against ALL RULES at the Brass Tap. We still really like this bar. In fact, I'm pretty damn tipsy as I write this and it's because of the deliciousness that is Franziskaner Weissbier (my spell check is saying this spelling is wrong sooooo yeah I hope I didn't butcher the spelling because I totally thought it was right but I'm drunk so I'm not very reliable) among other draft beers that they provide. We like everything about this place however that Franz is freakin $6.50 a beer. OUCH! However, it's f*cking amazing sooooo it's okay if I only order two. A shit place with a shitty staff. Took us more than an hour to get our order of two tacos and a small pan pizza. Ridiculous. All the staff knew what was up that we were unhappy and our food was taking forever. Instead of fix the situation they went out of their way to avoid us. The kitchen guy who delivered our food simply said sorry guys and didn't look us in the eye or provide any explanation. Absolutely livid. Horrible place. 10/4/16-The owner already reached out to me and let me know that he'll take corrective measures. Not only does this place over charge for beers, but it has bitchy bartenders. My friends and I went out and had a total of four bar transactions here, and we were cut off. My friend and I are both servers and I personally have bartended for 5 years. To be cut off by a bartender that had not served us at all is ridiculous. Btw, this is 20 minutes after the fact and we ate as well. I won't be going back to this place,only so that some bartender can feel self important at my expense(trust, there is a difference). My wife and I were excited to go on a date night last Friday. We arrived at 730 to a packed house of highly intoxicated patrons. I was amazed that people would be that drunk at a beer bar that early in the evening. We found a table in a dark corner outside and tried to order a flight of 5 beers, 3 of which they were out of. Our server (Dan?) was very busy drinking with another table on the patio so I would rate the service low on the scale. Another server saw we were ready to bail and brought the check. I was very excited about this place opening but there's not much chance I'll go back. We ended up going to Spec's and taking some beers home. The Brass Tap is yet another example of a restaurant/bar in Round Rock that I would put up against anything in Austin. It's well run by curtious and knowlegable employess who really know their taps well and are willing to suggest something new. I went for the first time last week not really knowing what to expect. I was really impressed. It kinda has a old world charm yet is very clean and modern looking at the same time. The wall of beer taps is the first thing I noticied, impressive. Tons to choose from from lots of local breweries. The booths and tables were very clean and had a giant list of beers ready to oder from. The beers are listed by draft and bottle and then further broken down by style. The ABV is listed as well so you know what your getting into. The prices were very good as well. I noticed that they have a Sunday happy hour that takes a dollar off all taps, I'll have to come back for that. My friend and I walked up to the bar and placed our first order, the beers themselves came out quick. The pints were clean and the beer was cold but not too cold. Just right. The food situation seems to really revolve around their pretzels. The pretezels with cheese, the pretzels with mustard, the pretezel crust pizzas...All tried and all very good. The pretzels themselves were really good, the beer cheese dip was a little clumpy but it dipped well. The pizza was really good, although a little small and I feel a little overpriced for the quantity, again the focus here is the beer. There is a patio in the back that seemed nice but I cannot comment about it, not used. The Brass Tap also has a small humidor that sells cigars, I assume you can smoke them on the patio. BTW, the wifi is really good as well. Parking is what it is but if you drive up and down main, you'll find something. Great staff, super beer, nice prices, good atmosphere, and most importanly local and close to home, I think I've found my go to place in Round Rock for suds. read more

I feel that Round Rock needed a place like this. It's classy, but not snobby classy. More the laid back atmosphere. They have a huge array of beer and the bartenders and servers are very knowledgeable. They have beer from all over the US and the world. Pretty much anything Texas will let them carry. The only downside is there is no food, but bar food is always greasy anyway, right? The neighboring food joints will bring you food though. We loved this addition to Round Rock and it is exactly what downtown needed. It had a classic up scale pub feel without feeling snobbish. We had a great server who knew his beers and could suggest pints for us to try. Live music was a little late but was worth the wait. Sure, they don't serve food but salty snacks hit the spot and there are plenty of local places you could grab take out. Great place to go when you don't feel like messing with the drunk kids downtown (which in my case is never). If you live north then you know the choices of cool places is super limited. I tolerate most places but I actually LOVE the Brass Tap. It's got lots of little nooks to chat in. The night we went there was a very cool band. There's a huge selection of delicious beers on tap. As for the price, no it's not cheap but you're actually getting some good selection and a nice atmosphere. We found it comparable to any other nice bar you'd go to. I highly recommend checking it out but go early if you want a seat. Next time I'm ordering those pretzel bites! Mmmm! read more

I love this place and go there regularly, the staff is always kind and super helpful and incredibly knowledgeable. I think a lot of the people posting complaining about service either A expect to be treated like they're in a restaurant trying to get in and out as fast as possible or just have absolutely minimal patience; of the times I've been there (loads) I've only ever had to wait for service a few times over ten minutes. Further, if you're in any hurry, you're absolutely able to just go to the bar and order and they'll have your drinks almost instantly. If it's an issue for you to walk eleven feet to the bar for your drinks, I suppose don't come here? Food is solid, it's not a restaurant but I've never been upset by what's come out or had a bad experience. read more
