How could I have forgotten to write this review for so long? Well, the answer is simple: when you walk into The Breakers, you are in paradise. You quickly learn to get your cyberspace BS under control, unplug, and pay atention to every little detail, and most importantly, the people around you. When you are here, it is so important to just breathe and ground yourself! We have come here over 10 times over the past 9 years, and we always have a top-tier experience. Here is why this resort remains unmatched for us: The valet is incredibly efficient despite the large crowds. The front desk is always kind and accomodating. Truly, every single employee is impeccably trained. Walking through the property feels like being in the Titanic movie, absolutely grand and timeless.The restaurants and bars are excellent across the board. Our absolute favorite part of vacationing here is heading down to the beach, grabbing a couple of beach chairs and umbrellas, and spending the whole day there. We love getting food from the nearby pool restaurant and staying put for hours. One main difference between The Breakers and any other hotel is that they never force you out of your spot just because it is 6 PM. If the staff has to leave, they let you stay on the beach for as long as you want. While the beach itself is not the absolute best in Florida, the natural rock formation gives it a beautiful, unique touch that is incredibly refreshing for the view. They also offer water sports for the young and enthusiastic! The Flagler restaurant is fabulous, but I will leave that for a separate review later since it is currently undergoing a major renovation a may be a whole different universe once it reopens! If you want a true luxury escape where you can actually disconnect and be treated like royalty, this is it. We will keep coming back for years to come! read more

Came here for the Florida justice association annual convention which was hosted here again this year. Valet guys were awesome upon arrival and there was a kind lady directing us where to go at the entrance. During breaks some of tend to venture to the seaside to take in the beautiful views. The lovely food staff brought us a plated lunch which featured a bread basket with monogrammed butter. I wasn't a fan of the seeded bread and salad but the chicken over risotto with vegetables was definitely tasty. The mini cheesecake was a sweet finish to a successful seminar. We finished early so I just killed time walking around the lovely property until happy hour at the surf break. It was a delightful day but still pretty sunny so when the waiter came over to take our orders I asked for a frozen cocktail. He was super helpful in recommending a margarita. Had the opportunity to brunch here recently and it was truly fabulous. The setting alone is worth it. Classic Palm Beach elegance, bright and lively, but still refined. It feels special the second you walk in. The food selection was beautiful and thoughtfully presented. This hotel has a lot of potential and there are definitely some really great things about it -- free ice cream, awesome kid activities, beautiful grounds, and overall it does feel like a luxury property. But honestly, customer service really needs improvement. The room numbering system feels like a complete labyrinth, finding your room can turn into a full adventure. The chains on the playground? Really questionable choice for a family resort. And getting a seat by the pool feels about as likely as finding a $100 million lottery ticket laying on the ground. Is it one of the best hotels? Maybe. But with better organization and much stronger customer service, it could actually live up to the reputation. read more

Stunning property, fittingly named as you can watch the waves breaking against the rocks right along the shoreline. This historic hotel and event space reminded me in some ways of The Biltmore in Asheville. Everything is clean and pristine yet kept in a fashion that feels true to the era it was built. We did not have a great experience and as many others have told us, they didn't either. First off. Stunning and beautiful. 10/10 aesthetics. Now the bad. There are unspoken rules and if you break them or dress wrong, they will make an attempt to embarrass you and make you feel foolish. Wearing $10000 flip flops? Well you can't eat small plate food. Better go back and find shoes they let men wear. Women. Have different rules. Servers were nice. Aside from that, no one else was. Bad attitudes all around. Rooms are $700-$10000+ per night. They better be more service oriented and show better attitudes, in my opinion. Bed: 4/10. You will get lower back aches. It's alike a cardboard box. Disappointing. Beach: 0/10. Last but certainly NOT LEAST. After 2 days of skipping housekeeping, security came and knocked on the door to make sure my wife was ok or in trouble. Never inquired about my safety and security. So say I felt offended and insulted is a major understatement. We will never stay here again. read more

The Breaker is always a top notch experience: brunch is one of the best I've seen anywhere--the variety of food is vast, the music is lovely, the views and space are beautiful. It's great for those special occasions. The Seafood Bar is fun as fish tanks with clown fish are the bar counter--so entertaining and flaming. Cocktails are good and mocktails as well. Their store has a great variety of goods, and we made the most of some of the sale section to pick up some things for the home. It's nice to walk around after eating and enjoy the beauty of the hotel. There are exhibitions to learn the history of Palm beach and Flagler, and artifacts of hotel history. Their ballrooms are magnificent, and although their Spanish ball room with portraits of Spanish historical figures are mislabeled (yikes) it's still a lovely space reminiscent to Spain. read more

I had a horrible experience here. I got in late in the evening to check in, and I wanted to explore the beautiful hotel. Apparently a place like this needs actual police officers on duty? I can only assume, but I'm fairly certain I was profiled - and this police officer followed me around for a little bit. I can hear him gaining on me, so I turned around to address him cordially, and he would not respond to me. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable, and I went straight to my room. I guess my clothes didn't look fancy enough? Hard to say, but this was disappointing. I've lived in places more upscale than this for years, and never had this issue before in my life. Amazing family friendly resort hotel. Breathtaking views and the service from every staff member was superb. The restaurants all had great drinks and food and had a children's menu. Kid friendly pool access, and kids entertainment center with outdoor playground, basketball court, mini golf and arcade. 10-15 min from airport and free shuttle access to any of their restaurants that are not in immediate campus. Only thing to be prepared for is that given Palm Beach is bougie is general, that some of the guests are "aloof", rather than friendly, if you get my gist. read more

Everything was great. Fantastic staff and beautiful bar and views. They have a bar that stretches along a great glass windows with a wonderful view of the ocean. But what's really unique is that the bar is also an aquarium with fish and live reefs . It's very unique and incredibly cool to look at while you're enjoying your snack and drink. You're not going to get and deals here. But you're paying for a very nice experience. I highly suggest the bar for the fish views and the fast and excellent service. We had the we had the grilled cheese served on Parker House rolls. Although it was a little pricey, it was enough to share for two people and both be very satisfied. This is a beautiful historical hotel north of downtown West Palm Beach. To go in as a visitor you need to give your ID to the security guard before pulling in to the visitor parking area We walked around the grounds and we loved the decor and the details all around. One of the best resort experiences we've ever had as a family. The Breakers truly lives up to its five-star reputation. From the moment we arrived, everything felt seamless, elegant, and welcoming. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we even scored a complimentary upgrade through our Amex, which was a great surprise. The food was fantastic--especially the buffet, which had a wide variety of high-quality options. The entire resort is beautifully maintained, and the service across the board was excellent. While we didn't get a chance to play pickleball this time, we loved knowing it was available. The resort also offered a convenient shuttle service that took us to nearby restaurants, the museum, and Worth Avenue, where we did some shopping and strolling. The location really can't be beat--it's close to iconic landmarks, the ocean, and everything you'd want to see in Palm Beach. We also appreciated the wide, open green spaces where our infant could safely roam and explore. The landscaping is gorgeous and made our daily walks feel peaceful and refreshing. There was some construction going on, but it didn't really affect our stay. We were only there for a few nights and honestly, everything else made up for it. Check-in was quick, staff were friendly, and our room was cleaned twice a day--plus we loved the little chocolates they left behind. Yes, prices for food and some amenities are on the higher end, but the overall quality and experience made it feel worth it. Even small touches, like being served sparkling water by default and still water in cans, really stood out to us. We created some amazing memories here and we'll absolutely be coming back. The Breakers is synonymous with the wealth and opulence of Palm Beach. It is an icon of the Gilded Age, offering more than a century of history. In 1894, railroad and real estate magnate Henry Morrison Flagler built the world's largest hotel, the Royal Poinciana in Palm Beach to attract the wealthy to stay in the area when he extended the Florida East Coast Railroad to the isolated area of Lake Worth. After the success of the Royal Poinciana, Flagler built a second hotel that opened on January 16, 1896. The smaller Palm Beach Inn overlooked the Atlantic Ocean and guests started asking for rooms "down by the breakers." In 1901 Flagler doubled the size and changed the name of the hotel to The Breakers. In 1903 while working was being done to enlarge it yet again, the wooden hotel burned down. From the ashes, The Breaker II arose in 1904. Illustrious visitors of the time included the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Astors, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, William Randolph Hearst, W.T. Grant and J.C. Penney, along with European nobility and U.S. presidents. On March 18, 1925 The Breakers once again burned down when Mrs. Thompson, the wife of visiting Chicago mayor "Big Bill" Thompson left her new curling iron plugged in when she exited her room. The hotel was a total loss. The Breakers that stands here today was built by Flagler's heirs, William R. Kenan, Jr., president of the Florida East Coast Hotel Company and the Florida East Coast Railway Company, and the brother of Flagler's wife, Mary Lily Kenan Flagler. The architectural firm of Schultze and Weaver was chosen to design the new Breakers based on the facade of the Italian Renaissance Villa Medici (1575). Schultze and Weaver went on to design the Waldorf-Astoria, Pierre, and Sherry Netherlands hotels in New York City. New York City-based Turner Construction Company built the seven-story Breakers. Construction began in January 1926 with more than 1,200 construction workers working around the clock. It took 72 artisans from Italy to complete the hand painted lobby ceiling. The project was completed for $7 million in a 11 1/2 months and The Breakers opened on December 29, 1926. By 1935, The Royal Poinciana was torn down leaving The Breakers as the most luxurious resort standing in Palm Beach. On Sept. 10, 1942, The Breakers became the U.S. Army's Ream General Hospital, serving thousands of servicemen and women recuperating from wounds and illnesses during WWII. Anyone who visits The Breakers today can see that is a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance design with its dramatic arches, marble floors, and crystal chandeliers. The Florentine Dining Room beamed ceiling was modeled after the Palazzo Davanzati in Florence (1400). The North and South Loggias, shaded terraces, landscaped patios, lush gardens, elegant courtyards, and stunning beachfront make this elegant resort one of a kind. Especially awe inspiring is the 200 foot main lobby with its ornate soaring ceilings that typify the opulence that defines the entire property. Created in 1897 by Henry Flagler, the Breakers' Ocean Course designed by Great Britain top golfer Alexander Findlay is said to be the longest continuously operated golf course in Florida despite Flagler believing golf was just a passing trend. What a special treat! I've lived in PBC for almost 50 years and have never stayed here until this weekend. What a special time! We were celebrating my mom's birthday and I can't begin to express how much fun we had. From the moment you walk in the doors you are greeted with exquisite architecture and design. The fresh flower arrangements are incredible and everything smells wonderful! We checked in with Kate and she was phenomenal. She suggested a great place for dinner and truly was warm and kind. Our room was comfortable and stocked with great smelling soaps, toiletries and a nice reusable Breakers shopping bag. Our fridge offered complimentary sparkling or regular water with the bathroom having a separate spigot for filtered water. We also thoroughly enjoyed the buffet breakfast! I arrived and stayed at The Breakers as part of a wedding party. The moment you enter the grounds you are whisk away to the most stunning views. The main fountain is absolutely breathtaking. From the moment you arrive, you are treated like royalty. As you enter the hotel it is Old world decor that only Henry Flagler can provide. The architecture and design is beautiful. The gardens and of course the ocean views are spectacular. Checkin was fast and easy as they were awaiting our arrival. Once we got to our room, which was spacious and modern contemporary. Ooh and the beds...it was like sleeping on a cloud. They provided all the room amenities top notch and then some. The Wedding was in one of the massive ballrooms just lovely.
