Sour cream out of a tube. You know, like those icing bags they use to decorate cakes. Chip quality ruined this otherwise delish dish :(

Hey kids, let's all take a trip to Divey McDive-Town. This place is beloved by the locals. And why shouldn't it be? It has all the calling cards of your favorite local hole in the wall. Off the beaten path? Check. Unassuming, plain Jane looking structure? Check. Simple, straight forward menu with comfort food classics? Check. Smiling, friendly service? Check. Where this place kind of drops the ball, though, is the food. The beer selection is also severely limited. The wings are decent - medium size, nice crispiness, wide sauce selection. The nachos were dreadful. Topped with a paltry amount of dry meat, they really left something to be desired. And somehow, the chips themselves were overcooked. It looked as though they took old chips and tossed them back in the fryer. I know the tortilla chips in nachos are supposed to simply be the vessel in nachos, but in this case, they were burnt, bitter, fried beyond all recognition, and actually took away from the dish. Not sure what they were thinking there! My burger was completely overdone. When I ordered, I did so assuming they'd overcook it. Sorry, I'm just paranoid. So in this case, since I wanted a medium-well burger, I asked for it done medium. Well, it came out well done. Just like in a diner (no matter how you ask for a burger in a diner, even if it's rare, it WILL come out well done). So I told the server, she took it back, and it came out well done AGAIN. I think it's literally impossible for small, divey places and diners alike to cook any meat to order. It must just be an unspoken rule that I wasn't aware of. As for the beer selection, if you like IPAs, you'll be in luck. Outside of their IPA selection, it's Miller and Coors variants. I can see myself coming back here for a beer and finger food with a few buddies, but I would never consider it for a real lunch or dinner.

Every time I'm in town, I must stop here. I always start with a bowl of crab soup, followed by a double order of wings. The Ghost of San Antonio is a genius concoction of taco seasoning, ranch and ghost pepper sauce. Yum! It is the perfect blend of creamy and heat.

The Sam's not too heady tonight!

$5.50 for a craft beer during happy hour is a bit much when there are other choices nearby...

Fun restaurant and bar in the Reading, PA area!…read more My friends and I were traveling through Pennsylvania and we wanted dinner, a place to watch a football game, and good food/beer. We found Brewer's on Yelp and and were very happy with our visit. Brewer's had a local feel to do it and a lively atmosphere for a Thursday night. The food menu has a large selection of different types of food so almost anyone can find something to eat. Great selection of beer with a lot of regional offerings. Also seem to run a special for different types of alcohol for most nights of the week ($6 large draft IPA beer on Thursday night). I ordered the brisket meatloaf sandwich that came with BBQ sauce and gouda cheese on top. The sandwich was very tasty and I especially enjoyed the pretzel roll it was served on. I liked that I was able to substitute a side of perogies instead of chips. The moon ranch grilled chicken sandwich was a little underwhelming and the moon sauce was the only positive to that sandwich. The service was good and our server checked back in with us multiple times during our visit. There's also a beer outlet with a large selection of craft beer attached to the restaurant so you can take local craft beer home with you. They call themselves a small place with the BIG selection!

Our waitress, who chose to wear air pods, was crass and impolite. She was sarcastic in a negative way towards one of the members in my party about their drink choice. She also stunk of heavy cigarette smoke and was coughing all over the place. The food was nothing special - just standard bar food. However, the prices here are outrageous! Unfortunately, it's just not worth going here when I can go elsewhere and get a real meal, not just bar food. I'm actually sad that I have to leave a negative review. In the men's bathroom, the sink has next to no water pressure and they were out of soap. I wonder how the employees wash their hands... On a positive note, the food was served fresh and hot!

The drinks are served up strong and service by our server tonight, Grace, was very attentive. Every time we come here we order the crispy potstickers appetizer and we agreed that their fried pickles are the best we've had anywhere. The dill dipping sauce that comes with the fried pickles is the bomb. My husband loves burgers and it's not always easy to find places that actually serve great burgers, but tonight he said "this is delicious!" Our server, Grace, was friendly, helpful and paid attention to the right time when to offer another drink or see if we want anything else. The music playing is a mix of genres so there's something for everyone and we enjoy it. They play it at the perfect volume. Loud enough to hear it well but not so loud that we can't hear each other talk. And, the outdoor patio seating is dog friendly! Reading some of the other reviews, I am baffled that people are leaving three and four stars when they have nothing but raving positive things to say (awesome, fantastic, etc) about the food, drinks, ambiance and service. That makes a place worthy of a five star review. Do yourself a favor and visit the Liberty Taproom!
