Although our experience wasn't amazing, it's one of the better Hannibal dining options. The decor is kind of tacky and "over-the-top" faux Italian, but it's kind of cute and charming. The service was kind of slow (especially considering their were only two other tables) but our waitress was very nice. I had the spaghetti, and my boyfriend ordered a Margherita pizza. We tend to share our plates, and I wish we would have both ordered a pizza. The pizza was good- hot and fresh and they use decent mozzarella. The spaghetti was pretty bland and just kind of tasted like a jarred sauce they jazzed up a bit and the actual pasta was super overcooked and so soft it was falling apart (like it had been cooked and reheated multiple times) and it wasn't drained well and made the whole dish watery. We each had a couple of glasses of wine (decent) and finished the pizza. I think the pasta is pretty overpriced for cheap noodles and sauce, but we did enjoy the pizza. We would give this place another shot and just order pizzas next time. read more

The Brick Oven makes a delicious thin crust "cracker" pizza! We ordered pizza with Italian Sausage, mushrooms, 3 cheese blend, fresh spinach & onion. The onion was caramelized which was a delicious surprise, added depth to the flavor. The Italian sausage was high quality with excellent flavor, seemed fresh. Our waitress was friendly & decent, albeit a bit slow & didn't know the menu. Perhaps she was new? We ordered lava cake for dessert. Nice presentation. Disappointing dessert. Not horrible, just not very good. It seemed to be microwaved. We would return again for the pizza! PS Make sure you eat in the 2nd dining room! The entry room/bar area REEKS of mold. Food here is very good we have been several times. My wife a lasagna and it was a little dry so she told the waitress. The waitress thanked her for letting them know and said she loves feedback even if it's something they need to work on. They charged us half more than fair, even if it was a little dry it was still good. Love the way they turned a negative into a positive. We will continue to go here! read more

Love this little hole in the wall in Downtown Hannibal!! Been there several times, and have never been disappointed! Their pizzas are my favorite things off the menu - even just classic cheese is incredible! It's a small establishment, so if you're in town during an event, be prepared to wait. This place use to be the go to place in Hannibal, but now I'm extremely disappointed. Not only has the menu changed for lunch vs dinner, the service is piss poor. Just tried calling to order a pizza and calamari to go and was advised that they can't serve me because they have a "party" come in. Me being half Italian and I know the owner is would be highly upset to see and know that customers are being turned away especially after dealing with a pandemic. Was in Hannibal for a training and asked the hotel for recommendations. They gave me Brick Oven...loved the ambience and the food was great. They used fresh ingredients and you can tell the crust is made in restaurant. Had a problem with my brick calzone but they immediately made it right. Lacks a good liquor selection or I would give 5 stars. I realize it is a "wine " place, but some good whiskeys would go along way. I would definitely eat here again. read more

This place was right across the street from where we were staying so we had supper there one evening. I got an Alfredo Penne dish with chicken and spinach and it was wonderful. I expected nothing but unhealthy food at this place, but got an excellent large salad with strawberries and a raspberry vinaigrette. Their other dishes were artery cloggers, but decent. My family treated me to a trip to the Brick Oven last night. Since I don't live in the area anymore, I was a little concerned given the reviews on this board. However, my parents had been down there several times and really enjoyed themselves. I am giving The Brick Oven two very enthusiastic thumbs up. I have to say, it was one of the nicest dining experiences I've ever had in Hannibal. They had an impressive wine list, fresh ingredients and original menu choices. I was with a party of six, so we did a lot of sharing, in addition to "oohing and ahhing" - and this was before the fireworks! We started with what I believe was a Russian River chardonnay - my dad was ordering the wine, so I couldn't be sure. It was a good wine and complimented the warm July day and our food when it came out. We ordered the Canneloni bites and meat and cheese platter to start. We knew it would take some time to prepare our entrees given that they cook everything in the brick oven, so this provided a smooth dining experience. The bites were filled with chicken and artichokes, then fried. They were delicious! I would go back just for these. They had great flavor and were warm and gooey. The meat and cheese platter was as promised - meat and cheese. The selection on the platter was fresh and tasty. I especially enjoyed the goat cheese and hot capicola. I really appreciated the fact that our server, Ryan, was able to find out which cheese and meat was which. My brother also ordered the ceasar salad, which must have been yummy, because it was gone in a flash. I was impressed that the restaurant offered fresh anchovies for the salad, if you so desired. This isn't something you see very often. Very nice. For our entrees we shared three pizzas: pepperoni, the Italian sausage, and the shrimp pesto. I also ordered the cajun pasta. All of these exceeded my expectations. The pepperoni was out of this world - probably the best pepperoni pizza I have ever had. I commented to my mom about how good the slices of pepperoni were and she said that is because it is fresh - the restaurant gets their meats from the same place the Italian restaurants on The Hill in St. Louis go. The crust on these pizzas is the star, given that they are baked in the brick oven. They were nice and crispy, cooked very well. My pasta was one more hit around the table. It was a little bit spicy and the tortellins were excellent. The other two pizzas were also very good - fresh. The shrimp pesto was good and a surprising addition to the menu. For dessert we ordered the brick oven chocolate cake, tirimissu, and hot fudge cheesecake. These were all sweet and sinful and were passed around the table several times, before we fought over the last bites. Overall, I was impressed with this new restaurant and I think it is a great addition to downtown. My only criticism is that I have a tree nut allergy (allergic to everything, EXCEPT peanuts) and the menu doesn't list everything that has nuts, i.e. the hot fudge cheesecake came out with nuts on it. When we asked our server, he was happy to clarify, though. And, it is my responsibility, as the person with the allergy, to make sure food is safe for me when I am eating out. I am looking forward to my next trip back to Hannibal, so I can dine here again. If I am lucky - maybe I can talk my mom into stopping by for lunch, today! Picked this place based on reviews I found on Yelp and love of Pizza. My husband and I were headed to St.Louis and needed a place to take a break from a long drive. It was mid-week so not much happening in the area of this pizza place. The surroundings looked a bit depressing and there was only one other group inside when we arrived so I was a little scared of what might happen but I was happy with the turn out. We ordered the baked garlic for an appetizer. It was okay but wouldn't do it again. We then shared a thin crust sausage pizza and I loved it. It was thin and crispy and the toppings were great. It really is upsetting that a business creates something that worthless and actually sells it for about $10 to customers.
