Went in for a day after Father's Day dinner. I had the bacon mushrooms burger on happy hour. All day Monday is happy hour prices. It came with curly fries. To get regular fries it will cost you an extra $4.00. Overall the service and the food was pretty good. The key lime pie was super delicious. They also gave a really good spicy corn with chips appetizer. Our waitress was super sweet and super busy as she was the only waitress there in the whole restaurant. read more

Having lived nearby since this restaurant was under construction, I've visited several times and always enjoy the experience. The aesthetic is incredibly well-done-dark, stylish, and perfect for a night out. The highlights for me are the Nola sauce (highly recommended ordering a side if it doesn't come on your burger!) and the beverage program. While the drinks lean toward the premium price point, the attention to detail, like the specialty ice cubes make them worth the splurge. Tonight was a bit of a mixed bag for my family, as my son and wife didn't quite click with their specific orders, but I believe it comes down to personal preference as my other guests have always been impressed. This was a late night stop for us after traveling from up North. We got there around 8:30 and they were closing at 10:00. Starting with "The Good". The food was amazing. Burgers, sandwich, wedge salad with chicken, and the Mac and cheese. My beer was good, my wife's drink was good. The bar wall and presentation is awesome and impressive as a great display. "The Not So Good" my daughter's sprite was flat, even after asking for a new one and letting them know it was flat. The service was fine with a hint of "we want to go home, so we won't offer anything extra" so that kinda made our experience less than we would had hoped for. read more

My husband and I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. During this hour, it was free sitting so we picked our own seats. The server quickly came by to take our drinks and food order. We decided to order a few appetizers: pork belly burnt tips and chicken wings alongside the Magnolia fried chicken (with tavern fries and mac & cheese) to share. We asked for all of the food to come out at the same time. The chicken wings were okay, and the pork belly burnt tips were very flavorful. But the star of the show must be the tavern fries. The popcorn chicken was nice and juicy and packed with flavor and the dipping sauce made it much more amazing. We sat at the bar on high chairs. The bar was nicely stocked and looked amazing. Absolutely enjoyed every bit of our visit! The server, Alexis, was so helpful and friendly. The shrimp and grits were perfect. The grits were creamy, seasoned well, and comforting. Best I've had in the PNW by far. My husband said "The Burger" was exceptional. And those collard greens...tender and spiced just right. Not to be missed. I'm not a bourbon fan usually, but I tried the Up in Smoke and thought the pairing with a candied bacon strip on top was definitely in my top 3 of favorite cocktails I've tried. The dining and bar area are welcoming with touches of the south throughout. I especially liked the fireplace area with cozy couches to relax in when our weather turns colder. Tried this place for the first time with a group. The waitress was new, red haired girl and very friendly and helpful. Zero complaints about her. The food is where my complaints lie. I ordered the Caesar salad with fried chicken. The salad had PINK all over the edges from clearly expiring and it was very wilted. My margarita was really watered down. No flavor at all. The jambalaya was ok at best... quite bland and the shrimp was undercooked. Seasoning wasn't stirred in and it was clumpy! Vegetables weren't cooked enough. The kitchen needs work. Don't serve wilted salad. The drinks need work. The owner needs to address this. I was in the service industry for 10 years. Things could easily be better. If I'm contacted I'd gladly have a conversation with the owner or manager, but at this point we will take our business elsewhere. read more

New place to try! North East Vancouver off of Padden Parkway. Magnolia Tavern behind Walgreens on the corner, was a nice place to stop and grab something to eat. We were greeted and we chose our own table. Magnolia Tavern is a nice and clean bar and grill, with a patio outside for extra seating. We like dark beers and they happen to have 2, a Milk Porter and a Peanut Butter Stout they were delicious . It happened to be a Friday and Happy Hour! So we ordered from the Happy Hour menu. Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Tavern Fries, and Buffalo Cauliflower, all were great. Our server was great and attentive. Give Magnolia Tavern a try! read more

My friend made reservations for his birthday dinner here for a group of 11. This was our second time here. It was dinner time so it was a little busy. We had to ask the waitress for waters a few times. If there was a reservation for 11 people, you would think they'd have enough water on the table for everyone. They only left 8 waters on the table. The waitress took so long to bring the waters and took even longer to take our orders. Food was good, but a little on the pricey side. Drinks were good, very refreshing. Came here with a few friends based on the reviews. It was pretty empty around 4 on a Saturday afternoon. We seated ourselves and shortly after a server came along to offer menus. Keeping this review short, here are my take aways for Magnolia - 1. The service was ok, definitely not a warm, fuzzy feeling but not outright rude so I guess there's that. 2. It is incredibly pricey for a tavern! My teenager loved the Mac n Cheese with bacon added, it is the reason for 3 stars and not 2, but it also cost 25 bucks. Even the happy hour prices were a little stiff. 3. I was overcharged for the happy hours items I ordered but failed to notice until the next day when I looked over the receipt. 4. There is a 20% gratuity added on automatically, despite the fact that my tab only consisted of 3 people. I do not mind tipping for great service, I and certainly tip well, but this was a situation where 20% of a large bill was not warranted based on the service we provided. I cannot recommend Magnolia, unfortunately. read more

Have eaten here 3 times and decided that's enough to not go back. The food is nothing special. Their smoked meats are done on a Traeger; I can do that at home. Fried chicken is ok but nothing that screams "southern". Frankly Popeyes is better. The collard greens are amazing. Service is spotty at best. The servers don't seem to know how to be servers. Workers not properly wearing masks. Drinks are fine but like everything else on the menu way overpriced. Happy hour pricing is confusing (ends at 3?!). Teacher discount only available during happy hour, but schools are still in session at that time, so no benefit there. Seating in the family dining section is ridiculously laid out. Seats backed up against one another. No room to walk in between tables. There are TVs everywhere with sports on them...is this place a Southern-style tavern or a sports bar? To be honest the entire place feels like it is run by people who don't know what they are doing. If this place wants to be special and last in our neighborhood it needs to put a little more effort into making tastier dishes, fixing the seating issues, improving incentives (happy hour and teacher discounts), theme, and LOWERING THEIR PRICES. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend them. read more

I sat at the bar enjoying some off time tonight. I ordered the steak and some drinks. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the drinks were made to a high standard in both flavor and "strength". Overall ambiance is an upscale, relaxed environment. The bartender that served me, Chelsea, was exceptional, and friendly to everyone that came to the bar while I was here. Side note every staff member maintained a high level of professionalism! He never smiled ONCE, and was not very attentive when it came to replenishing our drinks at the table. Brunch is not very popular, and would not recommend coming here during football season due to the environment lacking the atmosphere necessary for a good time. My friend and I went there for brunch to celebrate our birthdays. We sat at the bar. Food was nothing to be excited about. Just meh. Service was even worse. As I waited for my friend to arrive I ordered the bottomless mimosas. The bartender asked which juice I wanted and came back with a stemless wine glass with about a 1/3 of the glass pour. Which by the way tasted like plain juice. My friend arrived and ordered the bottomless mimosas as well. The bartender brought out a bottle of Wycliff which I looked up and is about $6-7 retail. They charge $19 per person for the mimosas. We sat eating our food and drank the bottle. The bartender checked on us once during this time. We wanted a second bottle but the bartender would not acknowledge us. He stayed at the other end of the bar for the most part. When he eventually came over to us I asked if we could have another bottle. He said no. He said there was a time limit to drink it. That is not listed anywhere on their menu nor did he explain this when we ordered. He also said they didn't have anymore chilled bottles. Lol what a joke. He then went on to mansplain to us how much we drank. Yes, we already know we split a bottle + your tiny juice pour. I said we came here for the bottomless mimosas and we didn't get to have them so was he going to charge us less. He looked at me with anger in his eyes at my request. He did say yes to it though and charged us $20 total for the bottle. Which is still a joke when it's $6-7 retail and they probably get it for even less. Sunday brunch. Was busy but not crazy. Service was correct. Menus dropped off quickly. Water right behind the menus. Order taken without long delay. Food arrived in a reasonable time. Was asked if we wanted anything else at that time. Asked for hot sauce and that came seconds later. Food - shrimp and grits and jambalaya - was excellent. Service was correct throughout the remainder of the meal. Only two servers meant for extra hustle and if the place was to capacity it may have been a problem. Ambiance is a bit dark and combined with a cloudy day made reading a tiny-print menu a little difficult. Music was classic rock and likely easy to fit to the crowd. Absolutely love this place!! We have been twice once for my birthday and once with family. The first time we did it all. Apps, dinner, drinks and dessert. The burnt ends were good but not real burnt ends. They were good but I would probably do without. The food was nothing but amazing and the drinks were on point. The bar is beautiful and the alcohol is displayed in such a fun manor. The staff was polite and the place was clean as well. Now what I will say is our tab each time was about $100-$150. This isn't every day dinner or drinks joint. For special occasions or every once in a while it was great though. It is different then a lot of places food wise and I appreciated that. read more

The food is mediocre at best, and the customer service is beyond horrible. Employees are constantly vaping outside when they are supposed to be taking out trash. They pay no mind who is walking behind them, blowing vape into people's faces. The kitchen is noisy, it's obvious that the employees would rather goof off in the kitchen then be present to do actual work, aka their literal jobs. If I could rate this restaurant in the negative then I would. Don't waste your time or money here. The restaurant tries its best to appear fancy, but in reality it is a real shithole. We attempted to eat here a couple of weeks ago. They were jammed packed and the wait was going to be longer than we wanted to wait. They gave us a $20 gift certificate for our disappointment. We came back tonight. It was so good! Food was great, ambience was nice. It's half tavern and half family restaurant. Our food was so yummy. The service was terrific and it was so chill in there. It's southern food, which is my favorite food of all! Everything happens so timely. Starters, drinks, main course order.. and the food came very promptly.
