I came for a drink on a Saturday night, and the bar area was pretty packed. It's a bit loud, but we sat at the bar, so it's what you'd expect. I got 2 of the same cocktails, and they were made by 2 different bartenders, and you can taste there was a difference. Parking lot in the back, came on a Friday night there was live music and wasn't super Busy for my party of 2. Price Point: Seemed a bit on the higher end for an American pub, but with the global craziness of items this could be the new normal. I get lunch frequently from the brook tap house and get the gluten free pizza. Usually is the best gf pizza in the area however this time was not good. We order three of the same and one pizza was left with one piece eaten. The pizza was over cooked and hard, falling apart. I called the restaurant to make sure the crust was gluten free because I noticed ed a difference in the crust. The short ribs were tender, but this meal was completely under seasoned with minimal sauce. I literally took it home and jazzed it up to make it more palatable. These were very good. Huge TVs over the bar which makes it good for game and boxing nights. This would be the place to go. Refused to turn off the audio to Cowboys game while a group of Giants fans filled the end of the bar with the Giants playing on the TV at that end of the bar. I get it. Went to The Brook Tap House on a busy Saturday evening. We had reservations for our party of 6, so we were seated right away. Our server seemed very young and she seemed somewhat inexperienced which was reflected in the service we received. So, the lower review is based on the service, not the food, which was very good. I would probably prefer to give 2 1/2 stars. Their tap list is heavy on New Jersey brews, which gave me a chance to try some brews from the Garden State (I live in NH). I had a Cassandra Gemini from Autodidact and Monotropa from Ghost Hawk Brewing-both were okay. We shared some apps-including deviled eggs and candied bacon which were very good. On the menu is Beef & Brew which intrigued one of my sisters. So, it's 3 sliders (beef cheeseburger, pulled pork & buffalo chicken) paired with a flight of beer. My sister can't eat spicy food, so she asked to have all beef sliders. Instead, she got all buffalo! And, one of the beers she ordered was wrong. When asked, the server said they were out of that beer, so a different one was subbed. Another sister had a bottle of beer and was brought a plastic cup when asked for a glass. I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla which never came out. The server did not check on our table- one of my sisters flagged her over to our table. It was hot & very delicious when it quickly came to the table, but everyone else was nearly done with their meals. Brook Tap House is our go-to order out place in our new home of Fairfield, NJ. Any local to the Essex County area know that Brook Tap is a sister restaurant to Angeloni's in Caldwell where they are known for their "thiny-thin" pizza, which is the best and my favorite (even el presidente of Barstool agrees). What is nice about Brook Tap House is that it is more than just italian food like Angeloni's and is a bar atmosphere than a BYO dining room. My friend and I went to lunch today at the Tap House. They have big tents set up so you can enjoy your meal in any weather. They have a bar set up along with cornhole games set up if you want to kill some time while waiting for your meal. I ordered a personal thin pizza with sausage- well done and my friend had a grilled chicken with arugula and mozzarella. Our food was PERFECT- My pizza was exactly like I ordered it and the grilled chicken on Italian bread was so fresh I could hear my friend moan with joy as she took her first bite. Our waiter, George was very pleasant and he didn't forget about us after we ordered he kept coming back to see if we needed anything else. I was so impressed, I came right home to write my review. Tonight was my last time at The Brook Tap House. It has become steadily worse every time I've been there. Used to be good. But no more. Ordered the Thinny Pizza and took over twenty minutes to serve it despite not being busy. The pizza was very dry with much less cheese and sauce. I guess Brook Tap is also cutting back on their ingredients to help their profit margin. This is ridiculous since they've increased the price of the pizza to $20! There is now a 10% credit card fee as they continue to fleece customers. They had a one man band tonight and he was playing very loud and it was very hard to talk to each other. When my coworker's orders came the Beet salads had no beets and one of our items was missing from the order. When the person who coordinated the order called the restaurant they blamed the Doordash driver. The Doordash driver shared that he delivered what he was given (the bag had a salad instead of fries). I tried to order a Vegan burger that I saw on the website that looked different from other Vegan burgers that I have seen restaurants put on their menu to diversify their offerings for those with different diets but when I went to order online the burger was not there. I give three stars because I know this has been a rough time for restaurants maybe their website person is no longer there or just an overlooked area with the focus on online ordering and keeping that portion up to date. I discovered this place recently while driving past and decided to put it on my list to try out. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. The inside is super cute. There is a bar area, then more of a hightop casual area, and then more of a quiet dining area. We sat in the hightop area and it was nice. There are tvs everywhere. I ordered a glass of wine, and the only downside was the waiter brought out a white instead of a red, but I am not one to complain. I think the waiter might have been new or something, he didn't seem as confident as some other waiters are but that's ok. Sometimes people just aren't having a good day. He was nice, just a little quiet.A ANYWAY, we ordered the pretzels and one of thin crust pizza pies and both were to die for. The pizza is absolutely amazing. I shared it with one other person, but due to the thin crust, I definitely could have eaten a whole pie all to myself. Next time, I would like to sit at the bar area. Nonetheless it's a nice looking space and even though i wish they had a stronger identity regarding the food I have high hopes that once they get rolling they will smooth out the wrinkles. There is a larger parking beyond the immediate one just across a small bridge. Service *** Friendly and somewhat competent but they are brand new and still getting the kinks out I hope. My beer was 30% foam, gin and tonic was made wrong and the pizza took 25 minutes to arrive. Food *** The menu appears like they don't know what they want to be; Italian, Mexican, BBQ, Irish, Steakhouse, it's just all over the place and to me at least it was concerning that they will excel at nothing. I didn't have a lot of time and they were still working with a limited menu so I just tried the extra thin pizza which I enjoyed. Many managers and bartenders were not wearing masks. Only servers were. Managers came around to close shades at night, I'd assume so people couldn't see in because they were being totally shady.
