Beer and wine while you wait on line for Crane Ramen. Crane Ramen just opened and it is probably going to be very popular. Our wait was about 1 hour and we were able to give them our phone number to call us while we waited so we just entered this bar in the meantime. We most likely would have never come this way if it wasn't for Crane so I see this place getting even more business. They had a good selection of beers and wines and the bartender was very friendly. Although I know it's strictly a bar, I kinda wish they had finger foods like popcorn or nuts while we waited at the bar. Update: The first time we went to this place, the bar smelled pretty bad although it looked classy. It was a lot better smelling and tidier the second time around. I also saw the sell snacks now which is pretty great. We only had 1.5 drinks each and left but I could definitely find us staying longer if they had maybe some cheese plates or something too.

This is a great spot. The beer and wine selection is quite nice, the staff is wonderful, and some nights they have live music.

So far I've made it to the Italian and Georgian tastings, and both have been a lot of fun. The place is really laid back. Great ambiance, soothing background music, and it's the kind of place where you can strike up a conversation with just about anyone sitting around you. It feels comfortable without being stuffy or pretentious. Josh, the assistant manager, and his team are all over customer service. They're friendly, attentive and seem to genuinely enjoy making sure everyone is having a good time. The tastings are fun, the wine flows, and you get to try wines you probably wouldn't otherwise come across. The membership is pretty reasonable too. You can also order food from the restaurant next door, and they occasionally have a food truck, so you can easily make an evening of it. To me, Beaker & Flask is kind of like having a secret living room where you can hang out, meet interesting people, drink good wine, and best of all, you don't have to clean up afterward. The only problem with writing this review is that I really don't want too many people to know about it. Because if everybody finds out about my little secret, I'm going to have to fight you for a seat.

My boyfriend got a cappuccino with strawberry syrup but we didn't really taste the strawberry in his. Regardless, it was delicious. We also got one of their biscotti which seemed like they made in house but I'm not sure. It was yummy, but definitely was not a very traditional recipe. It tasted more like a short bread than a biscotti but still very yummy. We walked out to the food truck to get some vegan bites and they definitely met expectations. The crabby patty was delicious with a great texture, and my boyfriends patty melt was also super good. We shared a mac and cheese and honestly I was full before we even got to that. The Mac and cheese was great but did taste a lot like coconut so if you're not into that then maybe veer away. The ambience was a mixed bag. The initial shop that you order the coffee in had a very cozy vibe with great decor. If you walk past the patio into the overflow seating the vibe changes a ton. The decor felt very uncanny valley, back rooms, like very odd. I think they need to work on that side of the property a little bit and make it more cozy. Maybe it's a work in progress or maybe they like it that way, I'm not sure, but it wasn't the sort of vibe that made me want to stick around. Overall great experience though! Will be coming back & hopefully I can get seating in the main shop ;)

Sean, our server, was a knowledgeable delight who guided me through the menu's hidden gems. We had the deviled eggs with caviar and the duck confit bruschetta... both made me giggle they were so good. DO NOT MISS the lobster bisque. It will haunt my dreams forever... I had the surf and turf satay and my companions had the smoked scallops and the lobster parpadelle. All amazing dishes. The satay had ALL the flavors ... great for those with FOMO. The Zongo is a house made creation that was perfect with the Sauternes. Also- the wine list is well curated and reasonably priced. Can't wait for them to open their new location!!

First, the chef greeted almost everyone but us which was quite disappointing. Second, my order was messed up. I did told them i touched it since i thought it looked like my dish with the scallops yet the waiter still picked it up and serve to another table. Our food also took a long time to come out..water took a long time to get refilled along with the napkins and our wine did not come out until way later. Third, our bill was messed up as well. So definitely be cautious. Also, pro tip is it is cheaper if you pay in cash. We did try new stuff such as kangaroo tartare..definitely was a hit but crab fondue was ok as well as the pastas. You could definitely make them at home. The lobster pasta was too overpowering with garlic and there was barely any duck in the duck and pork pasta. For Ocala, i would say okay if you wanted to give fine dining a try. I just would not be back due to how we were treated, all the mess ups and underwhelming food for what we paid for. I do have to give props to the scallops. It was nicely cooked ( still soft, and could melt in your mouth).

Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

This time around, I had a real hankering for a steak, and I had heard that Loosey's had a decent one, so I figured I would give it a shot. It was a pretty quiet day, and walking into the place it was somewhat dead... only a couple of tables seated. A good thing, too, because parking in the area to eat there is an absolute nightmare thanks to the City of Gainesville's approach to managing the downtown area. This is what I would call a typical downtown pub in a college town, built for having a lot of standing folks coming in during the nighttime hours to drink and have a good time, but during the earlier hours the dark wood and faint smell of stale beer tells you just what this place is normally up to and how it thrives during its busy hours. I was greeted and told to sit anywhere, so I found a good two-top to sit at and looked over the menu, knowing that I was going to be going for a steak. I went with the New York Strip with fries as a side. The wait staff was cordial, and my steak came out in a reasonable amount of time. The steak is good, and the price is right in this day and age. The fries worked well with the steak. I would go back for lunch here. No chance of me going here in the evening hours though. Finding parking in the middle of the day was bad enough, I don't even want to imagine what it is like in the evening.
