We recently read a Newday article that said they had a lobster roll special for $25 so off we went. It was a beautiful day and we sat on the dock. The atmosphere and our server were great. After some drinks, we started with fried calamari. You have your choice of three sauces we asked for the traditional marinara, but asked if we could also try a different sauce. I was a little turned off by the up charge for another dipping sauce. The calamari was pretty good but it is a small portion. For our main dishes, we got a burger and fish and chips. The only issue I had was that the burger was undercooked. it was ordered medium and it was extremely pink. The food is OK. I guess you're really going there for the atmosphere. read more

Great place located in Lido Beach on Reynolds Channel. Cool bar area and there is outdoor seating as well as seating on the dock. There is a little beach area where you can sit and enjoy the sun. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Overall service was good and they did not rush you. I had the mahi mahi blackened fish tacos which were very good. It came with a black bean and salsa relish salad which was very tasty. The only issue we had was my wife is not a big seafood person so she asked if she could order the chicken fingers off the child's menu and the waiter said "absolutely". When she got her meal the chicken fingers were fresh and tender and there was a nice portion of them. When we got the bill we were charged $7 more and when we questioned the waiter, he said that was an adult portion. When my wife said that he did not tell us that it would be a higher price(and this item is not on the adult side of the menu) he said to her well "I thought it was understood that it would be more $". We said to him why would we think that since we asked if she could order off the child's menu and you said she could and never mentioned an up-charge to make it an adult portion. He apologized but did not take anything off the bill. We ended giving him a smaller tip because of that. Parking is very difficult and we ended up having to park on lido blvd after driving around for about 20 minutes. The walk to the restaurant was about 7 minutes. Well the place has a great location but there is not where to park nearby all the streets don't allow parking we had to park at a marina but he bridge when you enter town.... As for the food the mussels seemed not fresh and real expensive but I did enjoy my lobster roll but the fries were cold and my frozen pina colada was way too sweet didn't lick it much. It's also hard that get a table so we sat inside by the bar. Some girl was playing a guitar war to loud right by us...it was better outside by the water on the side without the kids beach it's like a sand box lol read more

The free parking lot across the street wasn't crowded on a Tuesday afternoon and we no problem getting an indoor table. An outside table on the pier might've been nicer except it was too windy. This is not the beach, but an inlet, so I wasn't wowed by the views. The menu online seems to have been updated, so I added the photos of the ones we were shown. The experience for me was good, not great, but I only had a house salad and a too-large-to-finish Bavarian pretzel for lunch. My wife enjoyed their lobster roll. The others were all happy campers with the place, the ladies enjoyed their Cosmos, I had a Stella, and my buddy with the burger and sweet potato fries was a good boy and stuck with a non-alcoholic drink. If I could give no stas I would. My daughter and I planned a nice afternoon to get a bite and drink at The Buoy Bar. Parking was difficult so we went to Valet parking. The young man there looked at us and stated that he couldn't park our car because it wasn't fair to the other people, I was totally confused, what other ppl? The towns people?. He told us to park on a main road knowing full well it's impossible to find a spot. What is the deal with this place, you can only come in if you live in Point Lookout? Or is it just a racial issue? whatever the reason its just rude, disgusting and I will NEVER return, in fact I will spread the word! Good atmosphere, but that's about it. The food is very pricey for what you get. We paid $7 for a small portion of French fries, which were overcooked. We also ordered the mussels and filet mignon sliders, and unfortunately both dishes were bland. The Aperol Spritz was disappointing as well--it tasted like almost all Prosecco with barely a splash of Aperol. To make matters worse, all drinks were served in plastic cups. We were also charged an extra $0.50 for a side of chipotle sauce to go with the $7 fries, and $2 for additional bread with the mussels. Extra bread should really be included when ordering mussels. Overall, the atmosphere was enjoyable, but the food, drinks, and extra charges made the experience feel overpriced and underwhelming. Our server Sarah was wonderful! read more

We stopped in on a Friday evening. Even though we were early, there was still a 45 minute wait for a table. We didn't have time so we had to do the takeout by the beach. We ordered shrimp, tacos, cheeseburger, tacos, fried clams, tuna, tacos, and multiple cocktails. The drinks were tasty, we enjoyed them. The shrimp tacos were beyond bland and needed sauce in a bad way. It was just a lot of lettuce with two shrimp on top. No lime no nothing. Clam strips were very disappointing not fresh obviously frozen out of a box. My girlfriend enjoyed the tuna tacos though. The best was the cheeseburger tacos, which at least had some sauce and flavor to it. I'm really disappointed we couldn't get into the restaurant but we had a show to see. I would assume the food would be better there. Atmosphere is nice, people are very friendly. I think it's a better place to just have cocktails outside. read more

Wonderful informal neighborhoody kid friendly hang. There was a solo guitarist the evening I was there. He was very good singing famous hits and wasn't over powering to thwart conversations. Small parking lot outside. Right in the bay. Starters - doz raw clams and fried calamari. I was actually very surprised that the calamari was totally delicious. Lump crab meat tacos and monkfish tacos were also excellent. Key lime pie was a bit small of a slice but was amazing. Very creamy. Decent decaf coffee. Excellent service. We had a great early dinner on the docks. It was high tide, customers' kids were swimming, enjoying last days of summer. Such a great atmosphere. Cocktails are great! View is awesome! First trip to Buoy bar by boat. Left our dock at 315 in Bellmore. I called the restaurant on the way there to confirm dock space. They said we have two spots left come on. Knowing the docks must be clear by six we were two hours early! Got there before 4. Early football games were still on. My wife, who has thick russian accent went to the hostess with my two baby girls. Lets just say this older woman was beyond rude to her. Let her know two hours wasnt enough time to wait for a table eat and leave the dock. Ridiculous. It was the way she spoke to my wife to. BTW is a full US citizen and I grew up in Baldwin. First of all, I've been a customer for years! Food is always excellent, service is always great. However, this year...what happened to the beverage cups? A 6oz plastic cup soda is just sad . To top it off $17 for a 6 oz plastic cup mixed drink is even safer! What a Shame...what a rip off and how do you take advantage of your loyal customers like this and sleep at night!!! People would gladly order a 2nd drink if they were reasonably priced and presented nice. But come on $17 for 6oz is just robbery. You will love the Buoy Bar. During the summer months you can enjoy outdoor dining on their deck or small private beach. Set your chair at the water's edge and enjoy appetizers and cocktails. The restaurant is open 12 months a year with indoor dining during the "off season". The seafood is fresh and the dishes creative. Some of the winning items I've enjoyed are Lobster Salad that is loaded with lobster pieces, fried shrimp dumplings and their surf and turf dinner with lobster and filet mignon. The menu is not huge. The scenery is great and if you have a boat, there is free docking available for diners. Check out the specials. If you are traveling by car during the summer get there early because parking is difficult but the trip is well worth it. read more

A trip to Point Lookout isn't complete without a meal or drink at the Buoy Bar. Luckily we were able to do both today! The sun was bright and there was a good breeze in the air which made a perfect day to take a seat out side around the dock. We got some Pina Coladas off the jump to get the afternoon going. Get ready for some brain freeze and a tasty colada. Oysters came after and were served with red vinaigrette, red sauce and lemon. Mixed em up and they were stellar. Great size and wonderful taste. Lamb lollipops and The Mini Taco Trios came next. Woah. First the the Lamb came with a ricotta cheese, arugula and garlic bread. Fine work because every single taste bud was going off. The mini taco trio did not disappoint either. One was lobster salad, another crab meat and the last tuna. Each one was better than the next. Unfortunately I was splitting it so I only got two bites of each. I ventured away from my traditional Lobster Roll order this time but look forward to giving it a go the next time I'm in town. Service was quick and cordial and were always around if we needed anything. No music was on while we were there but maybe it was a one off. Went as a party of 4 adults. We were buying drinks sitting and eating having a great time barely there for an hour, that was until either the owner or a managerial staff member rudely forced us pay assuming we were done without asking and making us leave when we had just gotten new drinks put down in front of us. She started her sentence with "not to be an asshole" but in all honesty if you have to say that before beginning your sentence then you already know it's going to be bad. Told us that we needed to move for the people who came in from the beach below (yet they didn't order food or drinks) because it started pouring...last I checked I didn't control the weather and it was none of our faults that it poured. She single-handedly turned a happy day/occasion into a terrible one. If it were my first time going there and I had that type of experience I would never want to go back. I don't like to start on a bad note, however, be careful when you eat here. Watch what they chare you. We paid with a debit card and they charged us the amount including the fee they charge when you pay with a credit card. Federal law prohibites debit card surcharges nationwide. Debit card purchases are exempt from the surcharge. I find it hard to believe that they only did this on our purchase. I brought this to the attention of the woman who was seating people while we were there on Monday May 4, and she told me I was charged the lesser amount. Not true! I also called on Tuesday, May 5 to get it corrected and was told someone would call me back in a day or two. 2 days later, no call back. I don't feel the need to go back there. Obviously the location is a 10 because of the potential of beautiful sunsets. However, our food was not good. Fish tacos were cold, fish from the fish and chips were frozen and then definitely overcooked. The salad we ordered was good. The server offered to have it chopped, good idea. Our server was great. Been meaning to post this... Buoy Bar is definitely the most beautiful scenic location to eat or grab a drink in the area! The inside seating is great for colder weather with a view... but when the weather is nice, you can't beat dining right on the water. There are tables along 2 docks to eat at. There are also seats and bar stands directly on the beach below the dock. There is also an adult area and a family friendly area! The sunsets are unbeatable if you go at the right time. They also decorate very well and the lights look beautiful! The drinks are good and the service is great with a very kind, attentive staff. The parking situation is an absolute nightmare if you don't live in the area, and the wait times can be very long during peak season. Definitely plan accordingly! If this review was based solely on food, I'd likely give my Surf & Turf meal a 3/5. It was good, but not anything special. The side of broccoli was almost completely raw. Overall, Buoy Bar is such a cool place and I'd absolutely recommend coming here for some apps and drinks and enjoying the views! read more
