This used to be one of my favorite places.. EVER. Not sure if it was COVID, or their rise in prices, but I felt slightly disappointed about the experience I just had there. I ordered to go on a kiosk in the wegmans. Cool idea, but when we got our order, each menu item was several dollars more expensive then on the kiosk. Had I known that, I may have changed my order. Also - why why why did you get rid of the zucchini fries?!? That was my absolute favorite thing about this place. Now the sides are just different variation of fries. As much as I felt disappointed about the above points, the meal was very high quality and delicious. I've worked down the street from Pittsford Plaza for going on four years but only just came in to The Burger Bar today. I visited on my lunch and got the Fried Chicken sandwich with Tuscan fries. The first thing I noticed was that the prices are kind of high, expect to pay at least $10 for your sandwich. The Fried Chicken was $11 and came with a side (I chose the Tuscan fries, but you can get regular too) and after adding a fountain drink my total was around $13. Normally I wouldn't spend that much on a sandwich, but this ended up being a pretty filling meal so I could justify the price once in a while. When you first walk in you'll order at the registers and then if you're staying to eat they'll give you a number card to place on your table and bring your food out to you when it's ready. It was fairly busy when I visited (but not overly crowded) and it took about 10 minutes for my food to come out. The portions are huge! The side of fries was generous. They were perfectly fried with herbs and garlic added. I would have preferred a stronger garlic flavor, but overall they were very good. The Fried Chicken was fantastic, but very messy to eat. I ended up giving up on trying to eat it as a sandwich and just used a fork and knife instead. When I first bit in, the oil and sauce and everything kind of went everywhere (down my hands, down my face, etc). I didn't really mind the mess, though, because the sandwich was so, so good. I loved the spicy ranch dressing and pickles. The buttermilk coating on the chicken was delicious and perfectly crispy. Everything came together really well on this sandwich. I'll come back to The Burger Bar for sure, but I think next time I'd order ahead of time online and pick it up. read more

Visited the Burger Bar for the first time yesterday and it has now moved into the number one spot on our list of best burger joints! The speedy service, quality ingredients, casual atmosphere, great prices, flavorful combos and cleanliness are exactly what you would expect from Wegmans and the kind of place you would happily return to. Based on reviews from other Yelpers, we got the lamb burger and the mushroom burger. How convenient that they cut each burger in half so you can share! Both were cooked exactly as we asked, and were delicious. I would have liked a little more tzaziki on the lamb burger, as the bun soaked up a lot of the juiciness, but flavor-wise it was excellent. The mushroom burger had a really great strong earthy mushroom flavor balanced well with the beef flavor, and the brie was a great addition. For our sides we had their Tuscan fries, which had big pieces of roasted garlic and sage leaves - so awesome - and their soup of the day: spicy red lentil. You can never go wrong with Wegmans soup! We will definitely be back and look forward to trying the other burger combos. By the way, though we didn't try it, their Hometown burger (quarter pound of beef with cheese and condiments and a side) is a STEAL at only $7! Considering the quality and the fact that fast food burgers and fries (when you embellish with bacon etc) are approaching the same price point - there is NO reason to ever eat fast food again! The Food Bar, if you haven't been there yet, occupies the space vacated by Tastings and is attached to the Pittsford "mothership" Wegmans like a fanny pack on Napoleon Dynamite's hip. Most folks rave about the Food Bar's seafood, however I am addicted to the chicken breast sandwich and the wide range of sides: zucchini fries, Mediterranean salad, green beans al dente or the extremely tasty french fries. Rochesterians are very particular about their burgers. The aptly named "Rochester" burger is an interesting take on the type of burger sold at the local "Ground Round" palaces like Shaller's, Don's Original, Tom Wahl's & Bill Gray's. The Pub Burger, a carry over from the original in-store Food Bar, is very nice. You can order it rare if you like due to the fact that the beef is irradiated. As per Wikipedia, irradiation is a process "of exposing food to ionizing radiation to destroy microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, or insects that might be present in the food." All very nice. I seriously doubt, though, that you'll see the Food Bar migrate to lesser Wegmans. I view it more as the chain's lab for ideas it may or may not roll out to the lesser stores in the hinterlands. read more

I wish we hadn't because the chef didn't know to let them rest before putting them on the buns. Holy sogginess, Batman! It was like a French dip we didn't order. And the cheese wasn't melted at all (see picture). And, on that note, American for this? Come on. Saving a few pennies where they shouldn't skimp. I thought it needed something sweeter so I dipped mine in ketchup, but my partner didn't. Looks like it used to be served on a nice(r) plate with the fries in a bowl and a pickle. Now it's just on a plate all its own and the fries are in a bag. The Tuscan Herb fries ($4) were just okay. My partner liked them more than I did; I thought the spices were too imbalanced. There no napkins on the tables and all they give you is a fork/knife/spoon packet with the crappy napkin- be sure to ask for more (and extra ketchup, if you're like me) before you sit down because once you do, it will be quite difficult to get anyone's attention for more. $28 for two burgers, fries, and one drink, so not bad, but still not sure we would be back. read more

The sweet potato fries were ordinary with a grainy mustard. The onion rings were excellent - Super Crispy and not oily. I had a side salad with my burger and it was fresh and tasty. There is ketchup, Mustard, BBQ sauce and a variety of hot sauce and vinegars you can get on the side. They have Coke Freestyle which is fun also. I got a small choc/vanilla twist which was rich and creamy and for 1.75 was perfect size and great price. My husband got a small choc milkshake which was also very good and perfect size after a meal. I love all things Wegmans, and this burger bar is no exception. Hungry from a long drive on the NYS Thruway, we passed by several rest stops in order to make it to Pittsford to eat lunch at Wegmans. The Burger Bar did not disappoint. Despite being a very busy day, ordering went smoothly and we were served quickly. I really enjoy the fast casual style of ordering at the counter, putting your number on a table, and having the food brought right to you. It makes for a much more pleasant experience than eating at a typical "fast food" place. I also like how you can get a "fancy" burger here (my husband had the lamb gyro burger for $11) or a wonderfully down to earth burger that has all the flavors of Rochester and tasted like home to me. "Danny's Favorite" ($7) is my favorite too: ketchup, mustard, dill relish, and meat sauce. In fact, the cashier was too occupied with completing an order to take our order let alone even acknowledge us. The Burger Bar used to be great, but has definately gone downhill. A visit before a Saturday night shopping trip was less than fulfilling. The organization and layout is chaotic, the order line is right by the front door, and even a moderate amount of traffic blocks the entrance from others exiting or who have pickup order, and requires people standing in line to sometimes leave the doors open or to stand out in the cold. Apparently the same folks that designed the East Avenue Wegmans parking lot were commissioned for this layout. In today's fast food layout, the checkout process is very inefficient, further exasperating the problem; it appears to be very manual. There is no easy pre-ordering process or efficient use of technology that would move the line faster. Even the payment terminals are different and more primitive than Wegmans uses elsewhere and take longer. And some genius actually thought it was a good idea to raise the price of online pickup orders by over 20% an item, which discourages the use of technology for pickup orders which might siphon off some of the line traffic. The food was definately mediocre and it's quality has deteriorated since the burger bar opened. The salmon tasted like it came out of the freezer, the fries were less than crispy, and the burger patty was too mushy and falling apart. Moro er, the place was messy, trash h cans were overflowing. There were trash items on the floor in front of the trash station, and ketchup and food remnants on the surface around the trash receptacle. It was just a disappointing experience and not the quality and thoughtfulness I've come to expect from Wegmans. read more

Loved the management standing around watching, no attempt to assist. Burgers were okay. Maple onion not note worthy at all. Let me tell you about the last time I went to the burger bar .... I used to like it, a good value and a good meal. That has now changed. I payed $9 for the equivalent of a quarter pounder with cheese and the side salad or fries that used to come with it were and additional $4-$5 (which I didn't notice at first... my fault). The $5 side Caesar salad was 25 cents worth of romaine with a bit of dressing (I asked for the croutons to be omitted) and nothing else. It didn't even fill the bowl. Well, if that was part of the $9 burger that is one thing, but for $5 that is quite another thing .... I had this meal on 11/09/19 and emailed my concerns to Wegman's. No response. I was speechless when I first tried the Maple Onion Bacon Burger. It was the best burger I have ever had. I got it with a side of sweet potato fries and a pickle with a coke to wash it all down with. Although I was skeptical at first, like I always am when trying out a new burger place, the first bite I took relinquished any doubts I previously had. Wegmans can do no wrong. The employees were very professional and friendly. The dining area was clean and everyone all around seemed to have been enjoying themselves. How did I go so long without visiting this place? Conveniently attached to Pittsford Wegmans, I should have been grabbing lunch/dinner every time I shopped there or in Pittsford Plaza, which I frequent about once a week. The french fries are great - crispy, thicker fries. The zucchini fries are out of control! One of my favorites to get here. They're lightly breaded and fried. The portions are big too - I always have leftovers to bring home for a snack later. As for the burgers, I'm classic all the way - it comes with ketchup, mustard and pickles on it + American cheese on a toasted sesame roll. There's a pickle on the side too, which is so good! It's a whole pickle and super crisp. The bison burger is good too, with pesto and arugula, but I find the meat to be too seasoned for me. I think I'm more of a classic burger gal. Either way, it was juicy and the toppings like the roasted tomatoes were a great addition! They also have gluten free rolls so my bf is pumped that he can get a good burger here on a GF roll (Udi's brand, I believe). You order at the counter, they give you a number and it comes out so fast. There's lots of seating. Great for families to enjoy a good meal, quickly. I'm not sure what other Yelpers are expecting when they come here, but all I'm looking for is fresh, well-prepared, restaurant quality food for a reasonable price. And I don't want to leave a tip. I returned to The Food Bar tonight with my mother for Lobster Tuesday. As the moniker suggests, every Tuesday The Food Bar has lobster dinners, which include a 1.25 pound lobster, salt potatoes, corn on the cob, and a tub of melted butter, all for $16. That's right, $16 for something that sells for $9-$10/lb in the seafood department just a few steps away. Because I'm Asian, I did that math and that's about $13 for a live lobster, with no sides. Add the $1-2 you'd pay per person for corn, potatoes, and butter, as well as the negative karma that comes with taking another creature's life, and cooking lobster at home seems like a completely absurd concept when this inexpensive option is available. Now, I don't know where you've eaten your lobsters and lobster-based dishes in the past (Heather L.), but I've eaten them exclusively in Boston and Maine for the better part of my life and I have consumed literally dozens of lobsters since I started eating them at the age of 10 (my record is eleven lobsters in ten days), and I must say, the lobster dinner here is comparable in price and quality to anything you can get in Massachusetts (actually, cheaper than most places in the Boston area). Sure, you can drive to a lobster pound on the coast of Maine and get a pair of steamed chickens (1 lb. lobsters) with no sides for $16 from the guy who catches them, but I didn't really feel like driving 9 hours for dinner tonight. My Food Bar lobster was perfectly cooked, which is often a surprisingly difficult task for people who don't cook lobster every day. The potatoes, which I almost never eat, were good and I actually ate three out of the four that came with my meal. The corn was local and far better than any corn I've ever had in Maine or Massachusetts. Wegmans doesn't cut any corners with low quality produce, even on Lobster Tuesdays. That's why I love this place. When all was said and done, and I had finished every edible morsel of lobster using next-level lobster eating maneuvers (a la Andrew Zimmern), I declared to my mother that Lobster Tuesday was the best seafood deal in the Rochester area.
