I used to eat at the burger barn frequently, but today changed my mind. We arrived about 1115 in the morning and had to wait 20 minutes for our meal. My burger was over done and dry. Tasty burger if you can eat it without having to take a shower between bites. It was the messiest burger I have ever eaten. I got the BBQ burger, which had nothing to do with BBQ. We had to wait 45 minutes before we finally got our food. If our young kids weren't so hungry by then, I would have told them to keep it. Actually, I did tell them to keep my burger because by then I was so frustrated, I had lost my appetite. When I complained, at first they said it was because I ordered a #14 (double meat). Really? Throwing an extra patty on the grill takes another half hour? Then they said it was because they were really busy. I get that. Totally understand. However, getting food at another decent burger place takes around 15 minutes. Waiting 30 minutes is tolerable when the place is unbelievably busy. But to wait 45 minutes for a double burger, a jr burger, hot dog and chicken nuggets that taste like they were frozen is just p#ss poor service. On top of that, my wife's junior burger tasted like shoe leather, like it'd been waiting under a hot lamp for a while. They refunded my money on the double burger and gave me a $15 gift certificate. A friend and I ordered ahead so the burgers would be ready when we went through the drive through. I got the grilled chicken barn burger which was pretty good and the Frito pie which was okay. The burger was a bit greasy but that was to be expected from this joint. It's close to my friends house and if I'm looking for a quick bite to eat then I will definitely go here again. My wife and son drove from Baytown to the Frobergs Farm to pick strawberries and on our way home we stopped for lunch. We ordered two burgers and a kids hotdog for our 3 year old. We waited for over 45 minutes for our food to the point where our son was even asking to eat. We finally got our food after asking and the burgers cold in certain places and warm and others. Went to this place thirty minutes before closing with SIX people, they were rude and said we can only order a carry out, I understand to an extent but they were extremely rude about it! Was by there just this evening and was very disapointed . We thought we would take a break from cooking and use the 10 percent of coupon from the paper . Called in our order told them I had the coupon and would be picking up our order through the drive through window . When we got there took them awhile to noyice we were at the window even after getting out of the car and tapping on the window. The drive through window is really high even if you were in a truck. The guy said we should have cut out their entire advertisemsnt from the paper not just the small coupon that was outlined as the coupon but he took it this time . Now for the food we have eaten at Burger Barn several times in the past with no complaints , but I will NEVER CALL IN FOR TAKEOUT AGAIN the jalapino burger was ok but the chicken fried chicken steak platter was very dissapointing the generous serving of fries you get when dineing in was a tiny hand full 8 fries to be exact , the lettuce has several brown spots on the edges about 1/4 in. wide and 1/2 in. long needless to say we just thought we were not going to have to cook tonight . Let me preface my comments with the food is very good here that is why we have been customers since they opened. With that being said my complaint is about customer service. My sister and I came in on a week night a week ago. The sign says they close at 9 we got there at 830. When we started to order we were informed that they were only accepting take out orders. When we asked why the guy did not have an answer other than that is all we are doing now. I do not understand as a restaurant owner myself, how do you not serve your customers until closing. We were not coming in to take our food to go and eat in my car. If I wanted food to go I would have called it in or gone to a fast food burger place. Someone there needs to rethink your customer service or change the hrs on the door stating that 30 min before closing that only take out orders will be made. I do not plan to come here again.
