    Bacon Cheeseburger

Tried it today for the first time. Been living in Conroe area for 20 years. We both ordered burgers and were so impressed... loved the grilled bun also.. onion rings were to perfection and the curly fries were also... we will definitely be back and try something new!!

Still the best deal in town

Awesome hole in the wall. The kind of place where you know the burger is good because you can see thru the greasy paper wrapper. Crinkle cut fries and even shakes! They have a unique lunch menu too, with chicken fried steak, fried shrimp, and philly cheese steaks. The prices are fantastic, especially the specials. Just found out they have breakfast so I'll have to come give that a try. Inside is a bit dingy, but it's the perfect atmosphere for a burger that sticks to your ribs.

The food was Amazing we went back again for a second day. This time I got the Giant burger with onion rings and a strawberry shake and my boyfriend had the chicken fried steak sandwich with cheese tots (he ordered the cheese on the side) and a strawberry malt. When I tell y'all we will make this our go to burger spot because it's so good I'm not exaggerating. Please stop by and give them a try. Best spot in Conroe hands down. Service and workers were nice and friendly!!

Cheeseburger and last surviving onion ring!

Been meaning to stop here for years. It's been around. The place has to be the oldest one in Conroe, it reminds me of a place in my hometown which has been open forever, and like that place back home it's good. Love trying these type places in small towns all over Texas and elsewhere. All I can say is go. I had... a cheeseburger and onion rings, though the order was to go, sadly the rings didn't make it home. Next time am dining in because that's part of the ambiance.

Best Damn Country Breakfast on side of Highway 105 (on the Eastside, Conroe, TX). Gotta try it, for yourself, it's really good.

Great, old-school burger. Just a fantastic, delicious cheeseburger. Good, quick service, but in an old, run-down building. I'm ok with that.

Tonight, 3/5/26, we revisited The Red Brick Tavern, in Conroe for dinner…read more We walked in to some local talent on stage belting out song after song. At some point, we lost count on the songs, as one blended into another and each sounded just like the one before it. Hey, it was Thursday and he was a local putting himself out there for us to listen to. It's nice to have live entertainment during dinner and the background music was just background enough. Our seats were near the bar at the high top tables that gave a commanding view of the stage and bar area. The place was crowded for a Thursday night, filled with regulars enjoying the food and ambiance this century old building exudes in spades. Much like the breakfast menu we enjoyed a few weeks ago, our meals were almost identical. We both enjoyed the Reuben sandwich for our dinner. I personally wished it had more kraut, but the corned beef was tender and flavorful. I had added the sweet potato fried and we shared the cheesy fries as an appetizer. Cheesy fries do not do it justice. They were coated with more than enough cheese, accented with chopped onions and other herbs that added flavor and texture. Our waitress was wonderful and explained anything we had a question about during our meal order. I had an amber beer with dinner that really accented the reuben nicely. All in all, the dinner service was as enjoyable as our venture in there for breakfast. The Red Brick Tavern has now become a place we will go to more often ... not only for the food, but for the ambiance. Ciao, Darrell

The decor/setup provides a slightly upscale, but still casual, sports bar feel that's family friendly. The lineup: SOFT SERVE MARGARITA: you read that right & The reason we came here (thanks Instagram!) we got strawberry and it was everything and more I needed it to be. Will be back for this alone. TRUST. although..... I feel like it should've completely filled the glass like it does in the advertisement $9.99 a piece! 100/10 Appetizer: fried pickles spears - YALL. I am soooo picky about fried pickles and these are the best I've had. The pickles were good, crunchy, not overly oily, and stayed together! 12/10 Pickle flatbread: apparently I felt in a pickle escapade mood. Surpringly not over pickly and delicious. I would absolutely get this again. The crust was soft and cheese was melty! 9/10 Fish tacos: average. The chipotle sauce was a bit spicy. Don't know that I would get these again. 5/10 Fries I could skip, not my fave. The street corn was so good, though I wouldn't consider it traditional &! A bit heavy on the red onion, but I enjoyed it! Their sauces were all so good! The prices were fair & I feel like the amount I paid was relative to what I had, so kudos to management for that! But the display case ahead of you shows you what your diet prohibits, proudly on display. decadent pastries drenched in dripping chocolate, others with white chocolate chips (possibly macadamia nuts imbedded in a white frosting on what would be an otherwise sensible breakfast pastry. The menu, continuing to serve breakfast through the lunchtime period, offers Benedicts (my favorite) and multiple variations at that. Migas (rare, and my usual testing ground for new places), Steak and eggs, Shakshuka, yeah, what ever it was you were thinking you wanted for your first meal of the day, they have exactly that or some variation of it. And whatever variant Black Walnut comes up with to land on the official menu. . . is worth it. Super original selection of "sharables", what the rest of the world is decreasingly calling appetizers. This is not our first time by far and away to try out the starters choices at Black Walnut. They are all worth the price of admission. Globally inspired Entrées: Vegetarian mains, foreign country flavored options Asian Glazed Salmon, Mediterranean Chicken, even Chicken-Fried Steak from the great country of Texas. Benches and Tables through out, umbrella tables on the veranda, small party room with a flatscreen and still more glass overlooking the runway. Exposed Central Kitchen area, staff dressing your plates with the final touches, filling drink orders and packing up the to-go orders. The patio is lovely. Is lovely a workable word in this scenario? It's more cool than beautiful. You still get a view of the planes landing and taking off, jets taxiing in and parking to unload. You can actually see inside the front of a couple of the hangars where the really neat planes are. Phillipe and multiple staff check on our meager table-for-two making sure everything is up to snuff. FOOD: I should mention: Prices are reasonable, but this is restaurant pricing, not Denny's. We get out for $41 including %18, but that is with waters to drink...which is kind of a shame, because they have to unique teas and drinks to choose from. Migas; I am originally not impressed with the presentation. The dish looks small, brown, and light on effort. There is a pop of bright green from the sliced avocado with a small sprig of something herbal and green (that I appreciate). It looks as if the small scoop of Chorizo is riding atop a mound of long rectangle fried tortilla strips; and I am thinking, this is just a mountain of chips...now don't be confused like I am from the pics of this dish. Underneath a single layer of chips is a mountain of eggs. Problem is they are exactly the same color as the chips and I think "this is just a soggy mash of chips". Quickly after a bite, I realize, this is a mountain of eggs. Well seasoned I might add, and not too few either, I am guessing 3 eggs, which although looks unimpressive: paired with a fistful of tortilla strips and a ladle of chorizo, is a LOT of food. Strike the mention of "small". Chef needs to envision a way to make the layers stand out, maybe a more deconstructed method, but, that's not my job...I'm just the reporter. The Peri Peri Chicken, however, arrives like a parade float in the Luanda Carnival. This thing is gorgeous. You had better appreciate chili peppers as an outright food or you miss out on 1/3 of the dish. Pile-o-rice that has some bits of meaty goodness mixed in with some herbal highlights (yes carbs, but I had to try it for the review) really good grains, I could munch on that all day! Mound of Braised Chicken, center-stage, smothered in Peri Peri sauce with a side of it in a cup, as well. Bring it! This dish kicks! Just spicy enough to keep the fans interested, and original in flavor enough that it is different than the Nando's Peri Peri I am used to, with some indiscernible tropical citrus behind the notes. Well done, Chef!! Relaxing, original and a break from the ordinary. You won't forget it, go...and tell us what you think!

[EDIT only to correct to "Postino"]…read more I use the one-stars sparingly, I really do. This has nothing to do with the food, as we never got that far in the course of my miserable experience at this location (not sure if it's a chain or not). Walked into a relatively quiet restaurant somewhat later in the evening after strolling a bit in the summer Houston heat around the Woodlands. A couple of people recommended Postino. The issue arose when I asked for a possible menu modification. Specifically, I was trying to avoid GOAT CHEESE on the meatball dish I had my eyes on (which otherwise looked pretty tempting). The server indicated that they probably couldn't do it but I nevertheless requested this... a couple of minutes later the server returned with the bad news. Apparently, it simply had to be served as-is, according to the menu. This in itself wouldn't have got me to the point of writing this review. However, I, incredulous, was kind of laughing (you have to laugh) and said something like "so I can only order exactly what's on the menu, and the kitchen can't do anything different?" (slight paraphrasing, perhaps). There wasn't much further conversation with the server but within about 30 seconds of this exchange, a "manager" stormed over to the table and borderline-abusively shouted "is there a problem?!". This "mini-manager" as I will refer to her, proceeded to inform me that they could NOT accommodate changes because it would "violate the integrity of the restaurant" ... I of course I also found a bit humorous, and in this state inquired further about what sense it made to be so obnoxiously strict for someone just trying to grab a quick bite about 30 minutes before closing. I'm sensitive to the work involved in running restaurants and serving obnoxious customers, but I was NOT rude, obnoxious, or difficult. Just blown away by this treatment. I was then informed by the mini-manager that she was from LONDON which I assume meant I should accept that her cosmopolitan background and (I assume vast and high-level culinary experience) meant that I should shut my trap and stop being so picky. At this point I was compelled to mention that I, too, grew up overseas and was very surprised at this complete lack of flexibility. Within another 30 seconds or so of this dialogue, the mini-manager tipped the menu over on the table and abruptly shouted, "you know what, I'm refusing you service!" That made it all easy from there as we promptly (while laughing, partly out of shock) exited the facility. Huge disappointment and embarrassing in my view for a restaurant that seems otherwise to have maintained a great reputation - and especially so for the fact that service (and people in general) in Houston tend to be kind and accommodating, not typically RUDE or reactionary. I'm encouraging this restaurant to have a look at the service model. I can't say I'll try Postino again the next time I'm in Houston, but I certainly hope it continues to truly earn its 4.5 star rating, 'cause they sure did NOT when I was there this weekend.
