KIDS CHEESY PENNE PASTA SOFT DRINK CAESAR SIDE SALAD
    Alexis K.

We finally decided to stop in after seeing several posts about the kids-eat-free promotion. Just a quick note for anyone interested: the offer is one free kids' meal with the purchase of an adult entrée. The restaurant itself is situated on the third floor and offers a really nice view overlooking the runway and hangars. My kids absolutely loved watching the planes while they ate, and honestly, the view was one of the highlights of our visit. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the setting this time around. The kids ordered the cheesy penne pasta, but it wasn't their favorite. Some of the pasta pieces were a bit hard, and because the dish wasn't served very warm, the sauce had become thicker and stiffer than we would have preferred. I ordered the steak frites and requested my steak medium, but it arrived well done. Under different circumstances, I probably would have asked for it to be remade. However, the wait for our food had already been fairly lengthy, so I decided to keep it as is. What truly stood out during our visit was our server, Sophia. She was attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. More importantly, she maintained such a positive attitude that she kept smiles on our faces despite some of the issues with the food. Great service can make a big difference, and Sophia definitely deserves recognition for that. Overall, while the food wasn't quite what we had hoped for on this visit, the unique views and excellent service made for a pleasant enough experience. I'd be open to giving them another try in the future, especially for the atmosphere.

Headed to black walnut cafe at the Conroe airport on a Monday during summer to take advantage of kids eat free and watch some planes and man was I surprised. The restaurant is on the third floor of the building and is a light and bright restaurant. You can order at the counter or take a seat at a table and order from scanning the QR code. We ordered at the counter and took a seat by the large windows to watch the planes. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken Benedict and the chicken had spice but not too spicy for my high spice standards and had really good flavor. Star of the show was the hollandaise sauce but unfortunately poached egg yolk was cooked through but lots of hollandaise made up for that. My sister ordered the lobster Benedict - wow- the lobster tasted like it was braised in butter and her yolk was runny on the poached eggs so perfect dish! Kids meals we got were the hamburger and penne pasta and both were great size portions. Usually I worry with kids eat free they're tiny meals but definitely filled our ravenous boys up. And the fries were thin and crispy, delish!! So impressed by the food I want to make my way through the menu. Highly recommend

Amazing view while eating you have the option to eat inside or outside in a 2nd deck patio while watching airplanes take off. Would recommend if you're in the area. Only thing I didn't like is that they took forever with my orange juice and asked about 3 times and had somebody come over asking for proof that I did get an orange juice like why would I lie about that...

My wife heard about Black Walnut Café and wanted to try it out for breakfast one Sunday morning. We have always found that any café that is located at an airport is always a great place to eat and Black Walnut was no exception although a bit different from what we are used to. After waiting in line to get in, we were served cafeteria style and this I was not expecting. It worked and was different. Just not used to this at an airport café. In any case, I tried out the chicken and waffles; a Belgium waffle with some really good chicken tenders to go with my Bloody Mary. My wife went with the ham and cheese omelet with her Bloody Mary. I really enjoyed my chicken and waffles. They chicken was crisp and flavorful and both my wife and I enjoyed our meals and Bloody Maries. Overall, a really good meal served by the window so we could watch the airplanes take off and land. I look forward to returning to the Black Walnut Café.

Ambiance: Cafe with breakfast, brunch, and regular menu items located at the Conroe Regional Airport. Clean, fast, & friendly service! This location is really neat because you can watch the airplanes land/take off and view all of the smaller aircrafts or helicopters. Highly recommend for families, kids, friend groups, or a unique brunch date. I love the avocado toast. My husband says the chicken fried steak is one of the best he's ever had. Highly recommend the mimosas or beermosas. This is a fun spot for bringing out of town guests or enjoying a unique vibe! Patio and indoor seating. Parking onsite. Do note that they are cashless!

We loved checking out the Black Walnut Cafe at the Conroe Airport. It was really cool to see the planes take off on the runway while eating our lunch. We really enjoyed chicken wraps, pork belly blt, & burger. It was a really nice setup to sit inside or outdoors and you order at the counter or at the table. If you order at the counter they give you a tracker and they find you to deliver your food. This was a great experience!

Food and service are always excellent. I ordered the Avacado toast with eggs this morning. Ahmed had the cinnamon roll French toast with eggs. Can't go wrong with that!

First time here as new transplants from California, and we love it! The food was great, chicken and waffles - YUM! The customer service is beyond exceptional. Our server, Abby was gracious and very knowledgeable about the menu choices. The view of the aircrafts landing and taking off was spectacular!!! We will be back for sure!!! Oh, the Bloody Mary was greeaaattttttt!!!!!

Went for lunch with our office. The food was great and the service was great also. We had Thai lettuce wraps for an appetizer and my entree was the fish tacos. Everything was superb. Would definitely recommend and go back again.

Right in the midst of Conroe Regional Airport, this is a great place to eat and watch the arrival and departures of local air traffic. There isn't a bad seat in the house, but if you want to be at the window, grab a table when it's open and have someone else place your order in the line. Service is good with the kitchen following up with questions about dietary needs. The food is the same Black Walnut menu we all know and love but for some reason our orders were all over cooked. Likely an anomaly.

Wow! First, I would like to say I was pleasantly surprised. Driving into an airport for breakfast was a bit off putting, once I got to the 3rd floor, wow! The classic Pan Am posters, light music, and distant chattering of voices and plates clinging really made it a great atmosphere! Not to mention the view of the trees and planes flying. The service is great as well, thank you Brianna for tending to me and my date. Everyone had a smile and was happy to help us for our first time. And of course, the food was great. The potatoes were crispy, aromatic and fresh. The chicken sausage was juicy and had a snap. Pancakes were also fluffy and blueberries on top had a fresh snap as well. Finally the eggs were perfect as well. This place definitely deserves a 5 stars. It will be our main Sunday breakfast place from now on!

It has to be Conroe's most unique hidden gem such a vibey relaxing atmosphere even tho it's at a airport lol. Review time Lobster Benedict: 9.6/10 huge chunks of lobster meat and hollandaise sauce was absolutely spot on even with that they still put some smoked applewood bacon on it.

At some point, we lost count on the songs, as one blended into another and each sounded just like the one before it. Hey, it was Thursday and he was a local putting himself out there for us to listen to. It's nice to have live entertainment during dinner and the background music was just background enough. Our seats were near the bar at the high top tables that gave a commanding view of the stage and bar area. The place was crowded for a Thursday night, filled with regulars enjoying the food and ambiance this century old building exudes in spades. Much like the breakfast menu we enjoyed a few weeks ago, our meals were almost identical. We both enjoyed the Reuben sandwich for our dinner. I personally wished it had more kraut, but the corned beef was tender and flavorful. I had added the sweet potato fried and we shared the cheesy fries as an appetizer. Cheesy fries do not do it justice. They were coated with more than enough cheese, accented with chopped onions and other herbs that added flavor and texture. Our waitress was wonderful and explained anything we had a question about during our meal order. I had an amber beer with dinner that really accented the reuben nicely. All in all, the dinner service was as enjoyable as our venture in there for breakfast. The Red Brick Tavern has now become a place we will go to more often ... not only for the food, but for the ambiance. Ciao, Darrell

Come to find out days before our trip that Southern Star has decided to shut down at the end of June. Sad to see one of Texas' oldest breweries closing down. I had to get here before they did because their beers are great. It's right off 45 and easy to find tucked away off a side road. The grounds are beautiful as well as the building itself. The inside taproom isn't large but the building itself is so I'm wondering they have more hangout spaces. They also have a nice deck where a lot of people were hanging out. Customer service was great. Most everyone in our crew got a flight so we could try a few things. Prices here are excellent and won't break the bank. That's what I love most about breweries. I went with the Strawberry Blonde, Southern Brunch (citrus shandy), Texas Lager, and Pit Stop (cherry cider). I really enjoyed them all especially the Southern Brunch. My friends ordered some apps for the table such as fried pickles, fried mushrooms and waffle fries. They came out piping hot and were all tasty. I saw some pizzas leaving the kitchen and they looked excellent. They also had deals on whole cases of beer for 20 bucks. Killer deal that my friend took advantage of. Sad to see this place is closing. Great breweries are a dying breed from what I have read. If these places weren't so far I would support them more. And they nailed every single one perfectly. Braeden went with the Giant Burger (their biggest one), and even he said it was enough food--which says everything. It looked like it had been sitting in the skillet for a few hours and tasted no different. I reluctantly finished one of the mini rolls but it was not worth the calories. And I also ordered a campfire skillet. This is one of those situations where when you almost exclusively eat at highly-rated, mom & pop restaurants, you forget how bad these big, corporate chains really are. It was passable when I masked it with some ketchup, but the eggs look like they were spit out of some giant machine that makes 1,000 plates an hour.
