Best burger and hot dog I've had in a very long time.

The burgers are good and fries are good. Thick patties cooked to order. It's a little pricey for a hamburger joint $9 for the burger plus another $3 to make it a combo. Family of 3 cost $39 plus tip. read more

This place is so insanely good, I literally cannot figure out a way to describe it. I usually hate burgers. Actually, scratch that, I hate all burgers- that is until I tried this place! I can't believe how flavorful and juicy the burgers are. We got the fire burger, a side order of fire pickles and chili cheese fries. Everything was SO good! Walking out of there, we were in zen. SEATING BEWARE: we got there and had to turn around and leave due to being a small place and not being able to sit down to eat. Didnt get a chance to eat here so cant review honestly BUT wanted people to know to is a small place. Were were excited to try it out while in the area however there was no seating available and people waiting in line. It was nearly impossible to find parking at the little lot in front of the restaurant. There were maybe 6 non-handicap parking spaces all together. We were coming from Chantilly area and missed the restaurant. From that direction, we saw the back of the restaurant. It was right next to the car wash. We asked for burgers in medium. The burgers we got were more like medium well. But it was very juicy. The buns were buttered and toasted. The burgers and fries had a little too much salt for my taste. But it was a very good burger. Wow. I'm so glad that my friends told me about this little burger shack tucked away in Chantilly. They cook it the way you like and they do it right. The meat was juicy. The ingredients were fresh. The service was great. I got a custom 4 oz burger with grilled onions, pepper jack cheese, sriracha mayo, and lettuce. On the side I got Parmesan garlic fries, which were so delicious. It's definitely enough to share with 2-3 people. My boyfriend and I will definitely return sometime soon. I think he went again the next day! read more

Little hole in the wall place with great burgers and hot dogs. I love everything they have on the menu and I wish there was one in Alexandria so I could try everything at least once. I was too busy scarfing down my Coney Dog to remember to take a picture but if you like chili dogs, I'd highly recommend. Their onion rings were on point but nothing special about the tater tots. I was just happy they even offered tater tots as a side. My boyfriend got their Ring of Fire burger and it was phenomenal. Will definitely be stopping here any time I'm in Chantilly. read more

Have been putting off writing a review to keep this place a secret but I think the secret is definitely out... This became our go-to place for burgers after just one visit -- my family loves the Ring of Fire AND the fact that you can get a smaller version while I am a make your own person... Pretty much everything right with America. Equal parts lovely roadside tavern with absolutely gorgeous scenic terrace, neighborhood burger joint, airport-proximate waiting spot/pre-flight lunch spot. Burgers are very aptly-sized. Not too huge, but not small at all - quite sizable. Parmesan fries? Easily the star of the menu. Huge basket of fries with Parmesan and garlic sauce to feed the soul. Staff was really friendly and it had a great warm family atmosphere (: the fries are super crispy and fresh! I recommend ordering the garlic parmesan fries which was a huge portion enough for 2-3 people to share. The name tells you all you need to know; this is a no frills, burger-centric roadside shack. If you are a burger lover, and particularly of the griddled type with a nice char, this is the place for you. You can build a burger, and they offer two sizes (4 oz / 7 oz), or there is a menu of specialty burgers. We tried a single build with a 4oz burger, a hot dog, and the patty melt that came on Texas toast. And why not - the loaded tots, too. The burgers were delicious; cooked to specification, a lovely char on the outside, a nicely grilled bun on the 4oz, and the Texas toast on the patty melt was perfectly crisp and not overly greasy. The hot dog was forgettable; no char, sad and lonely on an un-toasted roll. The tots were truly loaded; no skimping on the bacon here, crispy underneath, and a dieter's nightmare. There are 7 or 8 tables inside, and a few on the porch. Other reviews mention parking issues but we had no trouble finding a space. The menu offers other sandwiches and a few salads, but I'd go back for the burgers. read more

A welcome local edition to the burger scene! They're located off Rt 50, on a service road behind the Staples shopping center. I really liked the historic building, and it looks like they're still setting up and adding more tables/chairs. The burgers were thick, juicy, and cooked to order, with all sorts of toppings for customizing. The bacon on my burger was meaty and thick and made for a great bacon cheeseburger. I don't think the fries are fresh cut, but with the plentiful garlic parmesan topping, they were still tasty. The burger is the real star here anyway, so it's not a big deal. This place is located off 50 next to Lee's corner road and is nicest hearty burger around. You pick you own toppings or a specialty sandwich. Small but well run and neatly organized. Efficient service and cooked upon ordering so very fresh. A little expensive like five guys but no peanut oil for those with the allergy. Nice place and nice atmosphere. I got the portabello mushroom cap burger with fries and it was easily the best portabello mushroom burger I have ever had. The bun was toasted just right, the mushrooms and onions were perfectly cooked as well. I didn't get anything else on it, because I just don't like a lot of stuff on my "burger", but that worked out perfectly because it didn't really need a lot of stuff on it anyway. The fries were also pretty much perfect as well. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. They literally bring the food directly to you right off the grill so you get it when it's nice and hot. If I had to criticize anything, it's just the size of the restaurant itself. It really is small and when it gets crowded, that can be a problem if you want to eat in the restaurant. They expect you to know what to order as soon as you walk in. There is no posted menu - so save yourself the aggravation and grab a menu from the counter, so you can look and decide without the glare of the staff. The food here was good. Our group ordered a burger, wings and a buffalo chicken sandwich. The wings were pretty spicy for "mild" and really needed to be fried a little crispier. The buffalo chicken sandwich was a preformed chicken patty, not what I expected for over $8. There was a generous amount of blue cheese on the sandwich. Burger was juicy and flavorful. The staff is RUDE! I was looking in the direction of the kitchen and one of the employees said "we cook to order!" in a very nasty tone of voice. When I replied that others who ordered after us were getting food - she then said (again in a nasty, condescending tone) "They ordered medium rare." Remember that I simply looked in the direction of the kitchen - didn't even inquire about our order. So eat here with the expectation of non-existent service and you should be fine. read more

I was real excited to order from here as I had been eyeballing this place for weeks as I've been driving passed. I was not impressed. The food was fine and that was about it. Nothing overly tasty, burger looked like a hockey puck that oozed grease and not juice. Fries were fine. I ordered the toppings that I would have put on it as if I was at home which were American cheese, BBQ sauce, mayo, red onion, and jalapeños. Like I said, it was fine but I wish I had cooked it myself so the meat was juicy and medium (which I ordered but it was well done and crusted) and that the red onions were separated and not some slab slice. Needless to say, it's sitting heavy in my stomach because of the lack of juiciness of the meat. I won't be ordering here again. Again, it was fine but not worth what i ended up paying in the end for all the hype. I'll stick with Five Guys for the burger meat quality and the fries being real. read more

We had lunch at this burger place this weekend and I was amazed how allergy friendly they are. My son is 4 years old and allergic to gluten, dairy and soy. He was able to enjoy a normal meal at this place and he was so excited that they had Toy Story apple juice too. Burgers are delicious here and service is excellent. The only downside is pricing. I could buy this burger for the same price at a different restaurant that would give me fries too or a side. Burger shack, you did well. I am giving the Burger Shack 4 stars for taste, customer service, having a large vegan selection on their menu and for being located in an Historic Landmark (how cool is that!). The Burger Shack looses 1 star because the size of the space is very small, cramped seating; that I will probably always just do take out and the parking sucks which is primarily why I had never been there before today. Now back to the taste, today being national cheeseburger day; I only wanted a burger that had received high reviews and one I hadn't tried before so this lead me to the Burger Shack to get the Famous "Ring of Fire" burger. Parking is terrible. But the food is pretty good you go ahead and order you grab a number and they bring you your food. I got a burger combo and a hot dog. The burger was okay it was a little greasy for my taste the french fries were fantastic. And the hotdog was okay I'll try them again. Maybe I'll try a different Burger next time I had got the sandwich with bacon and cucumbers because I usually like cucumbers on my sub sandwich but they were just greasy they had a ton of oil on them. Don't let the outside fool you, this place is amazing. We've been coming here on a pretty regular basis over the last several months and every single time it's been perfect. We've tried just about every burger and hot dog on the menu and they are all delicious. Our favorites are The Ring of Fire burger, the Sunrise burger and the Chicago dog. The burgers are cooked to perfection and no matter how messy the burger, the bun always holds up. Chili cheese fries are great and so are the mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers and sliders. Even the milkshakes are delicious! The only other burger that compares to this in the area is Market Burger out in Purcellville.
