I always wanted to go here ever since I saw that burger preist won the burger award for toronto a few years back. The Vatican burger was the one that did it so I really wanted to try it. My girlfriend and I went last Saturday and honestly I was a little underwhelmed. The burger was impressive but still didn't look like the one in the picture but besides that the burger felt like it was missing something. There was no zip, no special taste to it. I mean like it was good but a bit basic taste. Was hoping to be wowed but just wasn't happening. In a nut shell, a good burger but not a great one(taste wise). And the price for 1 Vatican burger combo and 1 bacon cheese burger combo was alil under 40 bucks. Not to crazy now a days but there are better burgers in the city. I have been wanting to try Burger Priest for a while. It was a snowy Saturday night, and the hubby and I were starving. I ordered the impossible burger (veg option) and the hubby asked for the spiciest burger on the menu. I forget what was recommended to him, but it had crispy jalapenos, and he said it was very hot, but good. We also ordered two fries on the side. We ended up bringing one home and reheating it later in the oven, and they were still delicious. The fries were very good, but on the saltier side. It also tasted like they were brined in vinegar before cooking? The hubby got the poutine and I did not like the gravy at all. It was a thick dark gravy, and there was no seasoning to it. I do not recommend the poutine. He liked it though. I devoured the impossible burger. It was great. Restaurant is small, and with the two of us and 2 small kids (who decided they didn't want to eat anything), the seating was a bit odd, with mostly tall tables and chairs with no backs. There were lower tables by the main entrance, but it was too cold to sit there with the door constantly opening. Most people were taking their meals to go. I'm glad I tried out Burger Priest finally. Customer service is good. Decor is good as typical chain burger joints go, and clean. My Low Priest burger was overall good. It American cheese aka processed cheese on it which always surprises me at the higher end places. No option for cheddar, which I would take, at a reasonable extra charge. Though honestly, does cheese belong on a chicken burger? I ended up pulling the chicken out of the bun and eating like a large chicken finger. No gluten free options on the menu. It's my first time here, and the person who took my order was warm and walked me through some of the menu items. I ordered the Vatican--cheeseburger with grilled cheese as the upper and lower buns. It was so good--unholy, if you will. I got it as part of a combo; I was curious about the Stern fries--fries with cheese, sautéed onions, and secret sauce. Good but definitely couldn't finish them all. My milkshake was good but not noteworthy itself. Overall, I'd be comfortable returning if I found myself out this way again. read more

So the Burger's Priest is a chain from Toronto, although the founder is actually American and from California. I tried it for the first time though at this location in Ottawa (their only Ottawa location currently, and in fact their only location in Ontario outside of the GTA). Overall, I thought it was pretty tasty. So I went there with one of my COVID-19 friends (my COVID-19 friends are people I met during my Pandemic Emergency Response deployment, not people who have COVID-19. They have a special place in my heart because we were thrown together abruptly and worked closely for long hours during a stressful and intense time, particularly when our city was in lockdown). I got the Chicken Low Priest ($6.99) and an order of fries ($3.99). My friend got the double bacon cheeseburger ($10.49) and made it a combo ($4.88) which included fries and a can of pop. So my COVID-19 friends are different from my Yelp friends so I felt weird asking "hey, can I take a picture of your food?" So I just took pictures of my own food (sorry). The Chicken Low Priest is a breaded chicken breast, with cheese, lettuce, pickles and their secret sauce. It was delicious! The chicken was real lean chicken breast and it was crunchy on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside. The bun was soft and fluffy. The sauce was not excessive and complimented the burger well. The fries were too much in quantity and too high in price in my opinion. I would have liked half the amount for half the price (but I know that the profits are in the fries, so this is why restaurants do that). They were crispy and tasty. Service was good. Since we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic, mandatory mask rules are still in place, plus there is plexiglass by the cash register. They ask you for your name and they call it out when your order is ready. However, it's really hard to hear what name they are calling out as everything is muffled by the mask and you can't lip read. Every single name sounded like the teacher in Charlie Brown was saying it. No one's fault really, just kind of funny. Indoor dining was still closed during our visit (although the law permitted it as we were in Stage 3 of re-openings), but they have some patio seating to the side of the restaurant which was open. This location is in the plaza at Baseline and Clyde. It's the same plaza as Walmart, Sally's Beauty Supply, Zaky's and Mucho Burrito. Lots of free parking. read more

FINALLY got the try this place! I was recommended the California Classic. I got a single and the husband got a double. I'll be honest - the only reason I got a single was because I also wanted a milkshake, so that evened out the calories, right? I ordered both burgers and the Riggs and Murtaugh shake, and then decided last-minute to get fries. Guess I didn't cut back on calories after all. Juicy burgers, tasted like they were made in-house, not at all dry. The beef is ground fresh daily. The California Classic is a cheeseburger with "Secret Sauce", a ring of sautéed onions, lettuce, and tomato. They also ask you if you'd like sautéed onions (already on it so I said no) or mushrooms (I also declined). There wasn't too much sauce (even though it looks like it's spilling out in the photo), which I appreciated. The buns were the best part about it. They flip them over, butter them, and grill them like a grilled cheese. Crispy, indulgent, delicious. Makes for a greasy outside, so eat it with the wrapper to hold it and a napkin or two on the outside as well if you don't want greasy hands. Forget the calories. The Riggs and Murtaugh shake is named after Mel Gibson and Danny Glover's characters in Lethal Weapon. It has vanilla ice cream and chocolate milk. Never had a milkshake with chocolate milk before and I really enjoyed it! Sweet but not overly, not too chocolatey, and not too plain. The fries were fresh and crispy, not too greasy. They're hand cut in-house every day. I didn't get to eat them all right away, though, since we got ours to-go, so the vinegar they gave me was perfect for when they got a little soggier. Calories don't exist anymore. Worth it! Service was really great, too. Very friendly and fast. We'll definitely be back. Maybe I'll try something from their not-so-secret "secret" menu next time, but it'll be hard not to get something with those buttered and grilled buns! read more

Mediocre at best. I ordered the California Classic with cheese fries. Darn, should've taken a photo of the "cheese fries" - barely any cheese and the fries were soggy and soft. Where are my crispy fries at? The burger itself was nothing to write about. It was fairly bland and the cheese was sliced processed cheese. Blah. The burger bun was nice. Thank God I didn't pay for this because I wouldve been more upset. I stopped in with my daughter for take out recently and loved this spot. I opted for the Impossible Burger and it was delicious, pretty much how I remember beef burgers tasting and the fries were amazing. My daughters real burger was also a hit, she thoroughly enjoyed it. I heard great things about this chain being from Toronto but 2/3 burgers were slightly underwhelming (maybe we had high expectations?). I had The Priest burger with the panko-crusted, cheese-stuffed portobello cap and the portobello cap was super crispy and delicious! The cheese was melted and warm too - I would definitely reorder this and highly recommend if you enjoy crispy foods! With tax it was just over $12 so it's decently priced for the taste, it's also quite tall! My parents had the low priest and bacon double cheeseburger, they said it was ok (average, nothing special), but would order something else next time. The portion for fries is quite large - looks small when you first get it but it's comparable to McD large size fries. read more

Big disappointment. I had to visit the store in order to find out the prices. They are not posted on your internet site. The staff told me they have been getting this complaint for a long time, and although they have asked for it to be remedied numerous time nothing has been done, Stupid on your part as all other restaurants including chains post the prices. I ordered "The Token" crispy chicken sandwich expecting something like Harvey's or McDonalds which is decent. What I got was crispy chicken that I might have tasted if it wasn't for the slathering of hot cayenne based sauce all over it. totally obliterating any taste of the chicken. and constantly dripping I can eat hot, but this would totally turn off the average person. The bub wasn't even slightly toasted. So a really unpleasant surprise for $7.69 before tax. Would sure hope that "secret sauce" on your chicken sandwich isn't the one on your burgers-but somehow i think it is.... The medium sized fries were good, but why cut them into small portions that are difficult to eat as NO FORK was included in the serving. Also many people might prefer a smaller size. Thought expensive at $3.99 and $4.11 after tax. Milk shake was thick, tasted good. Would be nice if you had coffee the everywhere else has... In summation, I can get a better chicken sandwich at many other restaurants along with fries and a shale for far less that $18.12 before tip. A buddy of mine told me about this place. I actually spotted a few weeks ago, and filed it in the back of my head of places to try. The fact that he mentioned it jogged my memory. He then started to describe the ingredients and the menu. My mouth started to moisten. As luck would have it, we happened to be in the area a few days ago when my stomach started to rumble. Parked the car, put my mask on, and went inside. Decided with something basic to test the waters - a cheeseburger, with all the fixings. As I waited, I wanted to take pics of the menu to post here, but in the excitement of getting in here, I left my phone in the car. I guess I'll have to go back. And, indeed I will! The burger was fresh, juicy, and had no funky aftertaste like so many do from takeout joints. It was everything my buddy described.
