My first review did not post, so here is my second attempt at posting this... If you are looking for great wedding dress shop where you get one on one attention, a great person to work with, and a great selection of dress styles and price points, then you should work with Alison at The Bustle in Del Mar, CA. I recently had a beach wedding in Mexico and thought that I would just get a simple dress online somewhere as our wedding was very low key. My sister strongly urged me to try on "real" wedding dresses and said that what I think I may like I may not like once I try it on and vice versa...and she was exactly right! I was a little hesitant to go to a dress shop only because I thought it added a level complexity to my planning that I did not want. However, I decided to listen to her and made an appointment at The Bustle along with some other dress shops that some of my friends had recommended. I first chose The Bustle simply because it is about 2 blocks from my apartment and I drive past it all the time and I figured it would be a nice, convenient place to try. I got an appointment on the day and time that I wanted and once I arrived with my sister and cousin, was delighted that the store was open only for us...I got on on one attention from the owner, Alison, who is a complete sweetheart. We went through the dresses and I ended up trying on about 12. Alison pulled one without me knowing and put it at the back of the pile for me to try on last. Once we made our way through the other dresses and came to this one, she said it was her favorite one in the store at the time and that she thought it would look wonderful on me, and she was completely right! I bought it right there and then, cancelled my other appointments and never had any second thoughts! I had two dress fittings, and the designer, a local resident was available to assist with these. I had some changes to the back straps that I wanted to incorporate and this was not a problem at all. She was so sweet that I eventually began to feel that she was more of a friend than someone trying to sell me a dress. The flexibility with her time and patience was appreciated. My experience at the Bustle was absolutely wonderful. Upon walking up to the store, they have my name on a cute welcome sign and was offered champagne and water as soon as I walked in the door. I worked with Brooke who was exactly the type of girl you would want to help you pick a wedding dress. She was warm & welcoming, sweet, attentive and invested in my vision, asked about me & my fiance, the theme and colors of my wedding, and she listened to what I was looking for and looked at pictures I had saved so we could be on the same page. When Brooke went to pull the dresses for me after we browsed the collection in the room, every single one she pulled for me was exactly what I had asked for - she did a fabulous job and was so helpful with information in regards to what could be done in alterations or what I could add or take away. She also had my favorite type of music playing while trying on dresses which helped keep me relaxed and excited. While I live in San Diego, my family doesn't which Brooke understood because she is also not from San Diego, and she was accommodating and patience while I FaceTimed my sisters and attempted to to get in contact with my mom but couldn't. Brooke understood how I needed to show my mom before saying Yes to the Dress, so her being incredibly understanding said that she would honor the 10% discount you receive when buying the dress that day, once I was able to speak with my mom. In the end, I did not end up getting my dress from the Bustle but I was so close and all because Brooke showed me dresses that I loved and that I could see myself getting married in. She was the best part about trying the dresses on! The Bustle is such a cute, well maintained store that really seems to care about the bride that is coming in to make a really big decision that she's been dreaming about since she was a little girl. While you might think there isn't a large selection based off the dresses they have on display in your private room, there are so many more that can be shown. This was my first appointment for a wedding dress and I was super nervous! However all my worries went away as soon as I met Paytin! I'm following up on Nikki H.'s review - I had the same experience with her and agree that The Bustle largely inflates prices vs. other bridal salons. I went to The Bustle, met with a very nice woman, and tried on a few gowns. One dress I liked was priced at $1300. I asked for the designer and style number so I could look up more pictures of the gown, see them on other women, and send them to my mom and best friend. The woman said she couldn't give me the style number and they didn't use style numbers because it would mess up their inventory (it was a b.s. excuse - I've been to 10 different bridal salons and each is happy to provide the designer name and style number). I went home and ultimately found the EXACT wedding dress I tried elsewhere for under $1000. In other words, The Bustle is charging 30% more for the same dress. read more

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. THEY ARE EXTREMELY OVER PRICED. Let me first start by saying that the person that was helping me at first was very sweet and wonderful. However, while trying on dresses, another employee walks in and stands in the doorway. She was there for the rest of the appointment. Any person with half a brain would know that that woman came into the room simply to close the deal. I had been very clear when I called the store that my budget was $1,500, of course they had me try on a beautiful gown that was $1,800 and didn't tell me the price until I fell in love with it. Luckily, before the "woman in the doorway" was in the room, I had asked the sales associate who the designer was and she told me. I asked them to get together how much the dress would cost with tax and everything. The dress would be $2,000 out the door, with a $35 fee to have the dress shipped to The Bustle (are you kidding me? They should cover a shipping fee to their OWN store). After seeing this number I was a little upset, mainly because The Bustle was not respecting my budget. I told them I needed to think about it and the woman in the doorway told me that I needed to make a decision fast because I was going to get a rush fee... of course, she's trying to close the deal.... I left the store feeling upset instead of excited, aren't you supposed to be happy when wedding dress shopping? When I looked at the quote they gave me on paper, I also realized that they "name" their gowns and don't give you the style number or designer name because they don't want you to be able to look up the dress and find it for less expensive. Well, thank goodness I already knew the designer, I found the style number on the designer's site and looked up the dress. I called various stores and found THE SAME DRESS for $1,200, just to be clear, I found this dress for $1,200 at 3 different stores. The Bustle's prices are super inflated. After replying to the follow up email that The Bustle sent me, the woman at the Bustle called me to try to "make things right". After I told her I found the dress for much cheaper elsewhere she said "Well, sometimes our dresses are mismarked , let me check for you." She came back on the phone telling me the dress was actually $1,600. Seriously? They were about to take my $2,000 when I left the store that day. I told her that still wasn't low enough. Then she said "Well let me make a few phone calls, we do price match." At that point I was not going to buy from The Bustle, but I wanted to see how far she would go. She called me back and said the lowest they could go was $1,300 and that that was the MSRP and the designer wouldn't allow them to go lower. I kindly declined. At first I thought, well she's trying to work with me, but after thinking about it, The Bustle got caught in their lie and she was trying to save face. It is very disheartening to me that they original told me the dress was $1,800 and then could drop it to $1,300. It's so sad that these brides are paying more than they should for these dresses. Shopping for your Bridal gown should be a wonderful and exciting time, you shouldn't have to be on the defense, afraid that someone is ripping you off. DO NOT GO HERE, unless you want to try on your gown and look for it somewhere else. If you go here, you will most likely be paying more than you should for your dress. read more

Leilani greeted me with champagne, and asked me a couple questions before beginning to look through the gowns. She was very specific when asking what styles I preferred, and was very sensitive to my budget. She let me browse on my own while suggesting gowns she thought I may like (which I really appreciated, as some bridal stores don't prefer having customers browse the racks on their own). From the adorable chalkboard sign out front welcoming me by name for my appointment to the champagne toast when I found the perfect dress, it was the dream wedding dress shopping experience. I'd had a not-so-great experience at another shop the day before I went in, so was feeling a little jaded, but my consultant, Matija, really renewed my excitement about finding my dress. Matija was so patient, really paid attention to what I said I did and didn't want, and made fantastic suggestions. Such a wonderful experience-- attentive to detail throughout the entire process! Love the welcome sign on the door, champagne and cupcakes, and the rose to end the experience. However, I would have loved to have been prepared to know about the 15% discount if you find "the dress" on your first appointment. The location of the store couldn't get any better-- not only do you have natural lighting, but you're right across the street from San Diego's best beach. I loved how this store had a variety of styles for every taste, so it was easy to explore different dress styles. They also had so many accessories, and Leilani did an excellent job of making dress favorites into a vision of the full experience of what your wedding day could be like. She didn't make us feel any pressure to buy dresses, and understood the need to take our time in this big decision (bummer that the discount is only applied for that first appointment though). I can not rave more about my experience with this Shoppe. I came here last year for my girlfriend and honestly thought I will just come here for the bride, dress up experience and figure out what kind of dress I need to look for at a less expensive place. Maria helped me and I instantly felt so comfortable with her. She was so easy to talk to, honest and fun. I tried on 6 dresses before I put on the dress we ended up purchasing. I came to the bustle with no intention of finding a dress. My future mother in law was in town and I wanted to make an appointment just so she could see me try dresses on. I'm typically really indecisive and this was my first stop so I wanted to keep my options opened. I was nervous and when we got in Jordan sat me down and asked me questions. I told her what I liked and what I didn't think I liked. She picked all my favorites and came back with a dress that wasn't in my look book, wasn't anything like I had pictured myself wearing. She had me try it on first "just to see" how I felt. I walked out and my whole group cried. It was the most magical dress and we all knew it was the one. Jordan had me try on almost a dozen more dresses and listened to every request I had before putting me back into the first dress. Five star service! The staff were so understanding and welcoming from the second I walked in and explained my exact needs. They greeted me with smile sand were happy to help me search for the perfect gown. When I finally came across the gown of my dreams I was not rushed to make a purchase. They allowed me to put on the dress and look at it in both outdoor and indoor lighting, and play with different types of accessories like veils and belts. They were completely willing to design any accessory you could imagine and their seamstress skills were top notch. After a horrible experience at another bridal store in Los Angeles, this boutique made me feel like a beautiful bride who deserves good treatment. Probably experienced the worse customer service ever. I was in the area and have friends who bought their dream dresses here. I eagerly decided to drive by to check it out. First, I stop by and stand at the door for a few minutes. They have this dutch door which is half open. The stylist then comes out and sees me and asks me "can I help you?" I told her I was in the area and wanted to look around. She was hanging up a wedding dress and had not even invited me to come inside. Not only that but continued to give me this snarky attitude and said "we are by appointment only." I said I'm sorry and didn't know that they were by appointment only. After she tells me that and finishes hanging up the dress then decided at that point to open the door to let me inside. She asked me which day worked best with my schedule and I told her Wednesdays work best since it's my day off. She continued to give me attitude and said "we are closed that day." I said okay, let me get back to you on that since I would like to bring my mom and sister. She explained to me that they block out the salon and provide beverages and cookies during the appointment. I said thank you for the information and walked out. I am so disappointed that this boutique upscale boutique had such poor customer service. I am truly sorry if there was an issue with the previous bride who came in before I stopped by or the stylist was just having an off day but it doesn't make it right for anyone to treat a customer like this. Show up to work with a smile no matter how bad your day is. You are a part of someones big day too! Had a great experience here today for our first appointment looking for my daughter's wedding dress. It has been hard to find the styles she loves online at the prices within her budget and we knew this store likely had very few options for her style preference, but it would give her the chance to try on some different styles she had not considered. The Bustle was also one of the few bridal boutiques that allowed more than 4-5 people. So this was one big reason for choosing them, so that she could be inclusive of all the family for at least one of her dress days. Leilani was the woman who helped us (I believe that was her name!) and she was wonderful. She asked important questions right off the bat (venue, time of year, wedding theme/style, what she was looking for in a style of dress and of course budget). She picked out 5 dresses to start and I knew immediately that none of them were really what my daughter had been going for but I knew she was willing to try on some other options. The dress styles Leilani picked for her were mostly trumpet and my daughter was very pleased to find that this was a gorgeous style for her figure. Prior to this she had no interest in trumpet dresses. Leilani really took the time to show us all the various options she could have with the dresses including cap sleeve additions, button changes, sash additions and changes and she even hunted down a few good birdcage veil options for her to complete the look. She even contacted the dress designer to ask specific questions about one of the dresses she was very interested in. My daughter found a lovely dress that she likes a lot and completely fits within her budget, but not once did Leilani ever pressure her to purchase as she knew this was her first dress day. She encouraged her to come back and she even set up an appointment to try on the dress again after the other dress days in the next month if she did not find the perfect dress at the other stores. This was excellent customer service. When you consider that the shop closes for 90 minutes to serve only a single customer and yet then encourages them to keep their other appointments at competitors, that's REALLY good service and speaks highly for the store and their staff. I don't know where my daughter's dress will come from, but I can say that the experience here was wonderful. It gave my daughter the confidence knowing she has already found a dress within her budget she can be happy with if she finds nothing from here forward. The experience also gave her more willingness to go out of her comfort zone with dresses that she wouldn't have chosen for herself because Leilani was right on the mark with flattering style to highlight her figure. I would absolutely recommend this boutique to any bride. They have quite a good dress selection under $2,000 as well which can be hard to find. My experience shopping with The Bustle was amazing! I'm so happy my MOH and I happened upon their yelp page and decided to give them a call. We had just finished at Here Comes the Bride and I hadn't found a dress I wanted to commit to. We called in to schedule an appointment and they had one appointment free the next day. Perfect! When you book with The Bustle, they give you a whole room to yourself (there are two boutiques right next to each other, and each boutique hosts one bride). The girls who work there transfer the dresses from room to room around the back. When me, my parents, brother and maid of honor arrived, outside was a welcome sign that read "Welcome Kaelyn, our bride to be". I thought this was adorable. It felt custom, personal. That is what The Bustle is great at. Being personal. I was greeted at the door by Tiffany, who immediately introduced us to free champagne and sweets, comfortable couches and a very chic boutique lined with beautiful gowns. She was very sweet, so helpful and knowledgeable. She never made me feel dumb, and I truly felt she wanted me to find my perfect dress rather than pressuring me into buying. The Bustle has a great selection of dresses that are perfect for younger brides. I think my difficulty with the other shop was that I felt the dresses I was being brought weren't age appropriate for a 21 year old bride. Tiffany brought in tons of great dresses, belts, and veils, kept it fun, and really encouraged me to not count anything out. I also love that on your first visit, you get a 15% discount off of anything that you buy that day. So even if you don't find a gown, but you love a veil or accessory, you can still purchase these for a great price. I'm so happy I found my wedding dress that day, I'm still amazed at not only how beautiful the gown looked on me but how little money it cost. I bought my dress, veil, accent belt and gown preservation kit through this shop. When I was about to commit to the dress I ended up purchasing, another gal who worked there peeked in and shouted in excitement when she saw me. I have a funny video that my MOH took of it, it makes me smile. That kind of excitement is what I really loved. There are hundreds of brides that come through those doors, but to still be able to be so excited by your job shows that The Bustle has really hired the right girls. Choose this shop! Such great and personalized experience :) Right away I was greeted with a chalkboard that welcomed me personally, and when we walked in there was champagne and sweet treats for us to enjoy. This was my first dress shopping experience and it did not disappoint. While I did not walk away with a dress, I walked away knowing what I liked and didn't like - which will definitely help in the future.
