Butcher Block 2280 OH 56, London, Ohio · (740) 490-7777 · Menu: ieatdrinkgather.com Hours: 11 am-11 pm (Sun 11 am-8 pm; Fri-Sat until midnight) https://www.facebook.com/share/1D9SfHT6qT/?mibextid=wwXIfr Like, follow and.share! Walked in expecting a meat cathedral or a place where steaks whisper "buy me." What I found: cozy wood-fire vibes, a very friendly (non-biting) bear, and enough bourbon options to make an old man consider rewriting his will. The fireplace smelled like nostalgic childhood and good decisions--10/10 for ambiance and for making my sweatshirt and joggers feel almost fancy. #KindaUnderDressed #WelcomedAnyway Service Taylor is the reason civilization endures. Smiling, attentive, and kept my drink full even when I'm notoriously bad at hydration. If you know this bald guy, you understand how important my hydration is. #RefillPlease Food I ordered the French Dip: shaved prime rib, caramelized onion, provolone on a rustic roll that should have its own fan club, plus a cup of au jus that practically deserves a hug. Fries instead of the famous house BBQ chips because I'm a rebel who pays extra for potatoes. Fries were excellent., but who charges extra for fries? The audacity. Sweet tea was dangerously on point. Menu Notes From steakhouse splurges ($25-$45) to bar sandwiches and a 30-tap beer situation that reads like a sommelier's fever dream, there's something to fit every budget and ego. Apps include deviled eggs with ambition and pork belly that knows what it's doing. Desserts are fancy enough to make you consider wearing socks with sandals. Vibe and Price Felt classier than my usual sweatshirt-and-wind-joggers combo, though several patrons were clearly auditioning for "dinner with a trust fund." It's a little pricey, which is trending everywhere these days -- so I blame inflation and the 1845 potato famine. Also -- again -- fries cost extra. Someone explain this economy to me. Who should go Date night, impress-your-in-laws, or take your friend who brags about beer knowledge. Say "ask for Taylor" and thank me later. Final Score 3 out of 5 Bald Head Emojis: ‍‍‍ Minus one for price. Minus one for charging extra for fries. #CheapOldMan Would I go back? Yep. Had a great time catching up on the Madison County Gossip, excellent sandwich, great server, and atmosphere that makes even a bald guy feel a little fancier. #followforsnark Recommend to anyone who wants good food and a cozy, slightly upscale small-town vibe. #ShopLocal Walked in expecting a meat cathedral or a place where steaks whisper "Buy me."

Not our first time here and definitely not the last. Cannot get enough. We were able to get reservations for Valentine's Day and it did not disappoint. Can't wait to come back. Hospitality is wonderful, drinks are great, food is wonderful. They had a live singer creating the perfect mood for the special occasion.

Got the pleasure to come here with my brothers and step father. I stuck with the NY strip steak which was cooked to absolute perfection. Exactly how I asked for it! My brother wanted to try the Alligator bites. Very underwhelming in flavor and the breading really wasn't bonded to the meat so it would just fall off. Just really needs to be cooked using a better binder. But the dining areas all were very nice and clean. Staff all seemed nice and friendly.

Scalloped potatoes and fried Brussels sprouts

First class all around! Perfect for big groups, a special dinner for two, or hangout to watch the game. Big bar selection. We sat at the bar and were entertained by Lacey and Morgan, top notch service and funny too. The food was sublime, each bit was a discovery of flavors and textures. The deviled eggs! The smoked gouda scalloped potatoes are thin slices potato cooked Al dente, so much texture, in a wonderful smoked Gouda sauce . Fried Brussels sprouts blackened with a maple glaze, it's candy. So good, but we might go for light glaze next time. The lobster bisque is more tomato based, so again a soup with made us discuss the flavors with each bit. Smoke chicken Cobb salad is huge, enough for 2 as your main entree. I believe the avocado was dipped in lemon and a little firm for me. I little ripper would have been perfect for me even if the texture is butter soft. My only confusion is the description for the smoked chicken salad says chicken, but my bill showed an added charge for chicken. I saw the add chicken, shrimp, salmon to a salad on the menu, but I didn't think I was adding chicken to the "smoked chicken Cobb salad" that has chicken in its description. I didn't ask because we were so happy with everything, but maybe the menu should say Cobb salad and remove the chicken from it's description.

This place is amazing the place is beautiful the service great and food excellent. My hazelnut creme Cafe was wonderful. My friend had the salmon patties and she raved about them. This place is a bit pricey but worth it. I will definitely come here again

We had food catered in today and was honestly the best meal I've had in a long time. High quality for sure.

This place has the most overpriced mid food. The place is nice, but that's about it. Menu is lacking.

Wings with Cheese?... Ok, I'm down for a good garlic parm wing, but WTF was this concoction. It was…read moreway better after removing all of the cheese. Way too much but the wings were edible... and that's where edibility ends! The tofu with peanut sauce sounded good to me, but I swear they took a whole block of tofu and cooked it as one piece. The exterior was bland which meant the inner depths of said tofu was even blander. How do you make peanut sauce bland? The drinks had to be good, right? After all, they're also a distillery with their own craft whiskey. Nope... Epic Fail on the blandest old fashioned in Ohio (I'm guessing). If they're trying to showcase their whiskey... maybe they shouldn't. Just really not a fan. Other Old Fashioned fans in the dining party weren't impressed either. The margarita wasn't much better either. What about a refreshing peach dessert? I'll give you 3 guesses and they all start with B! You guessed it, so flavorless and the pound cake was dry! It was even dry if you were calling it a biscuit. If you're going to serve this, then maybe a peachy sauce to cut through the dryness. Oh, the description promises that, but it did not deliver on those bourbon macerated peaches by any means. Even Bowser would send this peach back! TLDR: Bland food, Bland drinks, Dry Bland Cake, and Bland Drinks (a no-no for a distillery themed place). So many other great restaurants in Columbus, but this is a pass from me.

A spot that will be missed!…read more Decided to go just before they were closing for good. Was able to split the Caesar salad, in which the dressing was more mellow and less acidic than typical Caesar dressing, but was accompanied with a charred lemon wedge to add however much acid your heart desires! The crispy potatoes albeit fried were extremely light, and the aioli complements well the shaved cheese placed on top. Then came the burger, with the fries being extremely crispy and perfectly seasoned. The burger was very good as well, but I could do without the mushrooms added. It is a wet burger as well due to the mornay instead of a typical slice of cheese that just sticks to the burger. Most importantly, the cocktails are FANTASTIC as always. A seasonal menu always gets created, with the staples of course always available, typically using their own products within.
