High expectations as this was a well reviewed restaurant. We had a reservation for the work team. We were seated quickly. The interior is dark but had that nice quaint feeling. The menu looked interesting and following the reviews, we wanted to try a lot of items. In general, the appetizers were good. We liked the brussel sprouts, hummus and burrata. The bread was good and had an interesting flavored butter. Our main entrees came out a short while after the appetizers. The ribeye was good and cooked to temperature. Good but nothing great. Another had the beef tips and thought they were just okay. Another had the egg noodle linguine which was way too oily. And another had the salmon which they thought was fishy and mentioned it to our waitress. Service was okay. Our waitress stopped by several times to check on us. The food came out pretty quickly but we were not in any rush. An okay experience but definitely did not live up to our expectations. read more

Came in on a Friday night for dinner. Place is very quaint and small. The bar takes up half the dining room! Started with their version of an Old Fashioned "Our Old Pal" which features squash infused bourbon. Now, who in their right mind would find that a good thing? The waiter said it was very subtle, so I had to try it. It was nicely prepared and tasted like an Old Fashioned. We had the Brussels Sprouts and charred Octopus for appetizers. The Sprouts were outstanding. Never had them prepared with blue cheese, apricots or toasted corn nuts. The Octopus and smoked sausage was also good, but I wouldn't order it again. For dinner we both wanted the chicken, which I have a rule against, so my daughter got that and I got the beef tips. The chicken was outstanding! The beef tips were good, but not great. Came here on a Friday night for a date night. My husband made reservations so we didn't have to wait. The place was no overly packed so that was nice as well. The server was super friendly and everything came out quick but timely. My husband and I tend to like the same things so we only had the wings appetizer and the lamb chops for dinner. Tried Alqueria out for Restaurant Week and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is inviting and bright and the service is incredibly friendly. I walked in on a busy night with no available tables. But the hostess quickly offered me the last bar seat- thank goodness. They had a dinner special which included an app, main, and dessert. I had the butternut squash soup, cassoulet, and crème brûlée. The food was spectacular. Each dish individually flavored but it seemed the menu all balanced well. Although crowded, I was comfortable at the bar. And the bartender made me a special mocktail to go with my meal. This was one of my favorite meals during my time in the short north. read more

Nice neighborhood dining spot with a small eclectic menu. The food is farm to table and made from scratch and anything but boring. Great local brew offerings as well. The fried chicken is spot on. Crunchy, juicy in the inside and full of flavor. Delicious. The blackened shrimp pasta with arugula pesto was equally delicious. Nice mix of flavors and the pasta and shrimp were cooked perfectly. This little out of the way spot, nestled in a neighborhood close to campus, is one the best hidden gems in Columbus. We went in for a date night based on reviews and we were glad we did. Starting with the drinks, the "Our Old Pal" the "Rose Spritz" and a sangria, which were all perfectly balanced and delicious. We started with bread & butter, brussel sprouts appetizers. The bread was good and the sprouts were fantastic. For dinner we had the crispy pork shank, the plate of all the meats and cheeses along with a chopped salad. Lovely spot but excessively noisy - my watch registered a noise alarm for 30 minutes above 90 dB. My blackened shrimp consisted of 8 30-40 size shrimps slightly seasoned on a shallow bed of simple polenta and 6 or 8 green beans for $31. Nicely presented but wholly unworthy of the menu description and the price. I was particularly amused when glancing at the drink menu and noted that Knob Creek 9 was $16 while Maker's Mark was $8. Both sell for the same $45 at retail. My Makers was a 3/4 oz pour. Overall it seems the owners think somewhat more of their offerings than would be appropriate. read more

Great experience at Alqueria Farmhouse Kitchen. My friend and I went on a Friday night and had a reservation and at first I wasn't sure why we needed one because it was very empty until all of a sudden people started arriving. A reservation is a must as it is very busy starting at 6:30. It is a plus though we arrived before happy hour ended. Happy hour is Monday through Friday 4:00 - 6:00 pm. My friend and I both tried the Rosè spritz. It is Campo Viejo Rose Cava,Peychaud's Aperativo, simple & Passionfruit Puree served on the rocks in a wine glass with an orange wedge. For appetizers we split the Fried Ravioli and Whipped Ricotta and Feta. The whipped ricotta and feta came with caper relish, pickled sweet peppers, extra virgin olive oil, herbs toasted Hazelnuts, Ras El Hanout spiced flatbread. It was so good. All of the food that we got was delicious. We ended our evening with splitting the main entrée which was still a huge portion, we split the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The chicken came with herb mascarpone potato purée, roasted green beans, local honey hot sauce. This was a fun evening out. The food is delicious. We started with the sweet potato breve for a starter. The flavors blended together beautifully. I got the lamb shank as the main course. It literally fell off the bone. It is a bit higher priced, I would consider Alqueria more for special occasions. We were there for my sister's birthday. The service was good. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. While I'm glad I went, it fell short of my expectations. Our greeting was not great. It was okay but not overly friendly. There is no designated parking so it's find your own street parking (not a big deal, just an FYI). The space itself is very open and the lighting is extremely bright. This sorta set the tone for the night which was not cozy. I never fully relaxed. The food : We started with the meat and cheese plate. While it was okay- it was nothing special. Again, tasty but nothing you couldn't find at the grocery. The burger and fries were very good. Also very much enjoyed the shrimp & grits. Service was decent but nothing great. I discovered Alqueria Farmhouse Kitchen from Yelp and it is by far one of the best finds. Hands down I recommend the Mushrooms for an appetizer. Second time I have had them and they are phenomenal. If they have the Duck Confit Gnocchi that is a must too. Confit is pronounced kawn-fee if you're wondering, I always second guess it. Ambience - is an upscale-rustic setting and they carry out the farmhouse motif within. It's a great vibe. Parking - Parking is always a bit challenging in the area but street parking is available on King Ave via the Park Columbus and ParkMobile App. Reservations - definitely a good choice given limited seating. Alqueria surpassed my expectations ten fold. You can tell that their food is authentic farm-to-table and is just incredibly fresh. We ordered the shrimp and drunken goat cheese as our appetizers and they proved we made the right decision in choosing Alqueria for dinner. The shrimp, with the oil that it is in, is unrivaled. I would come back just to eat more of this! The lamb and spaghetti squash were also very good. The lamb fell right off the bone. Our server was very sweet to us, offered her suggestions, and always checked in. I do love the intimate feel of the restaurant, however, reservations are necessary since it is a smaller place. The menu changes often which I think is a fun concept, but I am really hoping they don't ever take the shrimp off the menu! read more

We made a reservation for a Monday night and we actually arrived at the restaurant about half our early. Soon as we went in, we were seated right away. Since we went on a Monday night, we didn't have any issue with parking. We found parking right front of the restaurant. The place is very warm and cozy with friendly staffs. Our server Cat, was great, friendly and attentive. We ordered the pan roasted blackened salmon and the buttermilk fried chicken for the entrée. Salmon was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The fried chicken was on top of pureed potatoes, broccolini, and a hot honey sauce. It was delish. For desert, we ordered the dark decadent truffles drizzled with salted caramel salt. The chocolate was very rich, but the salted caramel gave it a nice balance. Overall, we had a great experience. Definitely recommend and will come back to try other dishes on the menu. read more

We don't often dine in this part of town because of parking, so on our visit to Alqueria, we deliberately picked a weeknight to avoid parking hassles. Thankfully, we found nearby street parking very easily. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and cozy, and while small, it still has a couple of longer tables for larger groups (definitely recommend reservations in advance), and also has a full bar. Our server, Cat, was top notch. He was very personable, made great suggestions, and checked in on us regularly throughout the evening. As a restaurant that offers farm-to-table food, the menu here is deliberately condensed. If you are looking for a place with a huge variety of microwaved frozen food options, check out Cheesecake Factory. We ordered the fried chicken and the salmon. Both were delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying grits was a nice complement. The chicken is a large portion, and the honey hot sauce elevated its flavor. Even though we were full, we ordered the dark chocolate truffles for dessert, and while they were good, they disappeared fast. As a chocoholic, I do not recommend this as a shareable dessert! All the other menu options looked great, so we will definitely be back here to try them out! read more

Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus, and conveniently located next to the Bottle Shop which is such a cool bar and beer/wine store. Incredible 1-2 punch and the half-off bottles of sparkling wine make for a great Monday dinner. Because why not? Alqueria is a farm-to-table style restaurant and as a fan of farm-to-table it's probably the best in Columbus and rivals similar style restaurants anywhere I've been in the world. I've also been fortunate enough to book their large dining table for a group and it was a blast! Though one downside is that room with everyone talking can get as loud as a concert. Seriously. I also enjoyed their crème brûlée though the crème was just a tad bit burnt in some spots. Decent bourbon selection at fair prices. Great food. What's not to love? read more

My husband I had tickets to go see the fabulous Steve Martin and Martin Short at the Wexner Center for Arts. I asked where we should go to dinner beforehand. Thank you to a sweet friend for the most wonderful recommendation to try out Alqueria. Alqueria Farmhouse table is located at 247 King Ave, Columbus, it has found its home in a building that is over a hundred years old. Nestled nicely next to Pelino's Pasta which looks inviting too. I couldn't get a reservation beforehand so on a wing and a prayer we turned up last minute to see if we could sit at the bar. The lovely host came to our rescue with the two remaining seats and we got comfy and warm while ordering drinks from our very well turned out barkeep, Tom. My husband ordered the Mezcalita, Banhez Joven Mezcal, blood orange puree, orange liqueur, hibiscus simple, lime juice, Tajin rim. Apparently it was just what he needed warming and refreshing all at the same time. I ordered a glass of the Noah River Cab which I haven't had before, turns out it's the perfect fall/ winter wine. So much so we looked it up on Viveno to buy some for home! We ordered the hummus and sweet potato bravas to start. The green chickpea hummus topped with pickled pepper radish came with lovely soft pita bread that was the perfect vessel for such a light tasty dip. The twice fried sweet potatos were adorned with maple rosemary pink peppercorn aioli and then sprinkled with crumbled bacon bits. An absolute melt in your mouth dish, all the flavors worked in harmony together. I saw people order the Brussels sprouts and they looked absolutely amazing, I will be ordering those when we go back! We ordered the braised beef short ribs and the buttermilk fried chicken for our entree's. Once again both dishes were exceptional. I have to give a special shoutout to the green beans on both dishes. They were crunchy and just superbly seasoned (I may have eaten all my beans first, that's how good they were)! The short rib was accompanied by herby puréed potato and a red wine gochujang demi glaze. Apparently the best short rib that my husband has ever had, which is high praise indeed. The chicken was juicy, covered with a gorgeous local hot honey, it was just absolutely flawless. Tom tempted us with a pear bread pudding to finish which we decided to share. It was so good I forgot to take a picture until we were half way through so please excuse my less than pretty picture. An absolute diamond of a find, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. People were lovely and friendly and there was an air of joy in Alqueria last night that made for a perfect evening. We will be back. read more

I appreciated the write up in 614 about the list this restaurant ranked at and went to try it. I will prefix this and say that I have extensively traveled and am from Chicago- a foodie city. So... let's begin. The concept farm to table or farmhouse kitchen is one that cannot be used to hide mediocracy. Everything was a bit like what I could have cooked and served at home. The decision my beau and I had to share an entree was a great choice and one that the service admired, which was excellent. Yet the meal was not equivalent in quality to a $104 dollar with tip bill. I have had better. We wanted to try the duck or lamb dish that was spoken about though that may be in the fall season. We instead went for the Drunken Goat Cheese ($7) and the Mushrooms ($19). The cheese was just that on a plate with some hard breads, while the mushrooms was interesting yet a bit too greasy for my taste. I think you are paying for all of the EVOO they add to it- unnecessarily that is. We splurged and had the Grilled Lambchops ($42) which was good yet the description over hyped what was actually what you are looking at. This dish is a better one to split as we did for the portion size was appropriate to do that. We said to hell with it and got the peach crumble to finish since we drove all the way out there and were heading to another event afterwards. Though we were the ONLY from blocks around lol, I appreciate small local businesses and the neighborhood support. This is much better a wine and cheese or happy hour with a burger vibe I think. The food and some presentations reminded me of visiting a co-workers or classmates family home in the burbs for a meal and my attempting to not offend the host in that I had better. read more

Alqueria was one of the restaurant recommended to me while in Columbus for work. I made a reservation on Open table and walked in right as they opened for dinner time / happy hour ( cocktails, draft beer, wine by the glass are $2 off). I had a seat at the bar and started with the Coconut Espresso Martini. I was mainly drawn to this drink because of the flavor mixture of the vanilla vodka and coconut puree. I picked the Grilled Lambed Chops for my main dish - it was filling and delicious dish. I was thrilled to have the chimichurri , mushrooms and potato puree bring a blast of flavor altogether. My last drink was the Sun Smoke - recommendation from the bartender. A must try as it has a great balance of smokiness and sweetness altogether. The staff was supper friendly, and was glad to enjoyed the restaurant before the dinner rush settled in.
