Went in but didn't end up buying anything. Not that the selection was bad. But I got a phone call and had to leave. They have 2 wine fridges (one double door and 1 single door) as well as an open fridge near the cash registers. Had decent selection of cans and box wines. The set up was extremely similar to the other Licquor stores I visited in the 2 block area (Herald Square Spirits and epic liquor). I really think it is the same owner bc 1. Set up exactly the same (wall to wall wine in same wooden shelves. 2. Prices and even the Price label is the same and 3. Selection is exactly the same 4. Same marroon sign. Yes they are more expensive than everywhere else. In queens lagavulin 16 is 70. In nyc its 80 ish. Here ita 100+. If you have issue is pricing then I suggest going to outer boroughs. Convenience = more money and I wont take off stars bc they have to pay rent. read more

On a whim, the Buzz was calling for some liquid revelry after an exhaustive Friday which includes two prior respective stops at FedEx. The sales associate noticed me leaning over browsing for a bottle of wine as my party of three was getting impatient waiting for me to make a decision, so he interjected with a 2012 Californian Pinot Grigio at $10.99. Normally I do not like when sales associates interject when shopping, but in this case I was glad as I needed assistance for my impulse purchase. The Buzz is a nice wine store. At the counter lies small shots under $3.00 each who need a quick buzz without attaining a whole bottle. Their business card also serves as a magnet. The next two days, in my solitude, I drank 1/3 after struggling for half hour to get the stupid cork out!! Surely then, I was buzzed. read more

As other Yelpers have mentioned, the prices here a few dollars more than you would find at other wine and liquor stores - though they seemed comparable to another store down the block. The store is definitely clean, and there's a lot of space to mill around if you're trying to make up your mind. Buyer Beware! I usually trust a store to be fair about it prices. I also know most of the reasonable price ranges so am not usually taken advantage of. Unfortunately I tried a new scotch (a reasonably expensive one) that I didn't know. I anticipated the price could be maybe 20% high. What I found out later was their price was 80% higher than other stores in Manhattan! When I called the store to work out an acceptable arrangement I was told there are no refunds. An exchange may be possible but had to occur in a time frame I couldn't accommodate. staff when I bought the item were pleasant but the manager (owner likely) the next day was not at all accommodating or apologetic for the ridiculous over pricing. read more

I stopped in a while back, did a once over, said, "NYOPE!" after that first glance of their prices, and went on my way, making a note to maybe come back if in the area and wanting to purchase wine (as, for a Wine & Liquor joint, they are a bit heavy handed in the Wine area, and needing more balance with the Liquor). Popped back in a few days ago when I was in the mood and mindset to take my time and really look at their options. Yeah. A ton of overpricing, even for the area. But, if you take a second to really look at their options, there are multiple within regular price range, with some options matching my local joints in Queens, including selections I've never seen in any of my three rotating spots, and at Queens prices. There is also a good selection of higher-end gifting liquors which would make for a really nice show at any dinner/event. I definitely recommend - if you're not a hootch and/or vino aficionado - having your phone at the ready to do some searching on average pricing. But, if you know your pricing and labels, you can get some good stuff here. read more

You ever hear the one where a guy walks into a liquor store and there's an Asian cashier and a black dude stocking the shelves? Well it goes like this: The guy is paying for his bottle of Jameson (it's fairly priced at $40 or so) and the cashier looks to the stocker, and says: "Hey. She's got a picture of you on her bag!" You're super cramped, you have a mediocre at best selection, and, most annoyingly, are *really* overpriced (as in, the exact same bottle of wine or liquor can consistently be found for about a third less within a couple blocks). My main impression of the Buzz is that it's very clean. Extremely clean. It's just really, really, clean. Every bottle is neatly in place. There's nothing sketchy at all. Although it's mostly wine, the wine selection is fairly small and uninteresting. The shelves aren't too high, and they've taken to putting wine two or three bottles abreast, you know, like a supermarket does with its cereal boxes. The European wines are a little more dense, just like Europe! There's also a small but decent selection of upmarket mainstream vodkas, agaves and tequilas, Prices are a little on the expensive side. It's not a bad place at all, I would not feel bad about buying from here, but it does not elevate me. I think a liquor store should elevate you and engage your imagination, but maybe that's just me. read more

It's in my neighborhood - I drink - It's simple - It works. Thier logo is a bee in a sleeveless sipping a cocktail - so cute. This joint is less than two blocks away from my house which makes good on a rush run over or a delivery, thank you. It is a pretty small store only offering two rows of liquor of about 14 feet each. However they do offer all the essentials on getting you to where you need to be. They have the reds, whites, and will have you feeling blue - very American if you ask me. They have the hard stuff too like patron and etc.Who could forget the bubbly, not Buzz ! The prices will suit any budget which is great, being nearby FIT probably has some affect on this. The staff is really nice and friendly, though im not sure on their knowledge of the items they sell. I've never walked in there and asked for their suggestions only asked to point me to the south american reds. They dont card, which makes me feel 35 - hence the low yelp rating - boo hoo, hoo boo ! read more

Good selection, very clean and presentable store, but I have to dock this place for their crazy prices. A standard 750ml bottle of Buffalo Trace is $47.99 here...that's a bottle that normally goes for around $33-$35 around NYC. They are selling bottles of Elijah Craig small batch for $37.99 -- a bottle that is widely known in the bourbon world as running for $28-$30 depending on where you are. I could write so much more about their price gouging but it would take all day. Ok fine one more...if this doesn't steer you away I don't know what will. A bottle of the delicious, the wonderful, the always reliable George Dickel Rye is going for $52.99 here...a bottle I've seen for $35 just a few blocks away. Again, great looking store, but only buy here if you don't mind losing money on the deal. read more

I like this place, fast delivery if you tell them you need it asap. The major downside for me is that I plan a lot of lunch time events and they don't open until 11am which means it's a bit of a rush last minute to get it over here. Wine and alcohol shop... not extensive, but quite expensive. I love this place mainly for these reasons: 1. The employees are great. Happy, friendly, and very nice. 2. They have wine tastings on Friday and Saturday evenings and offer really good cheese with about 4 tastings of wine. 3. They happen to be located across from my apartment. Like literally, seconds away. They also deliver but since buying a bottle of red by myself usually means it's going to be a lazy night, I think I can do with walking down my apartment's stairs and across the street. On the downside, as I said earlier, they are kind of pricey. I mean, it's not ridiculous, but you can get a bottle elsewhere for probably $1-$3 cheaper. It's a very small place, which means there isn't a huge selection. Definitely perfect if you just want a bottle of wine and don't care about brands... same thing goes for hard liquor. read more

Free local delivery is hard to beat, the small but eclectic selection offers something for everyone I would think, and the friendly staff makes it a no-brainer. It can be a bit crowded in there as the place is on the tiny side but no big deal.
