I spent last Saturday afternoon at The Cabin At Old Irving during their 5 day Beach Party with a friend and their gang of good friends. This a small cozy bar with a charming ambiance. Patrons were decked in their beach party themed attire and the bar brought in 60-80 yards of sand for the floors to lend a bit of authenticity for event. The a nice selection of liquor, 6 beers on tap and about 20 bottled/canned beers and offered house wine as well. The have popcorn available to dole out if you need something to nosh on. The regular customers and their friends were very nice and hospitable. If you're near and want place to chill and have a drink this place has got you covered. read more

Probably the friendliest neighborhood bar I've ever patronized. The owner Harry introduced himself, and a bunch of other customers. Andrew the bartender is just as friendly. We only had draft beer and free popcorn so can't comment much except that the price is inexpensive. They had the beach vibe going on, sand was all over the floor and beach decor hung from ceiling. I was only in town for the weekend but would definitely recommend going to The Cabin. read more

Checked out this bar recently because it looked cool. It's a pretty friendly neighborhood bar along Pulaski. The Cabin gets its name because that's what it looks like. Has kind of a rustic European feel. There's good drinks and music. About as cozy as a bar gets. It's certainly not well known outside the neighborhood. This is just a place you happen to come across sometime. It's about $9 for the better cocktails. There's cheap and more expensive. Also they happened to have a nacho bar. This is usually when there's a game. Good place to hang a bit. It's on Pulaski a few blocks north of Irving Park. They have some good drinks and even maybe free food sometimes. read more

Highly recommend the Cabin if you're looking for a small place with fantastic atmosphere and friendly people. We came in here on a Sunday afternoon and we're immediately welcomed and the owner even came over and introduced himself. They were playing '80s music which is right up my alley and have great beer specials every single day. Excellent bar. I really enjoyed The atmosphere of the place. One of the most comfortable bars that I have went to in the area since I have lived around these parts. My apologies for not updating this review sooner! My experiences at The Cabin have been nothing but terrific for the past year and a half. We've made it one of the places we frequent most often in the neighborhood and truly enjoy our time there. Long story short, after our initial experience, noted in my original review, we gave it a second shot and told the new management that exact story. They apologized profusely and begged opportunities to make a good impression. We did, and haven't looked back since, the original "visit" forgotten completely. We're on a first name basis with most of the people that work there and in fact, I've guest bartendered there myself! I encourage anyone that likes a friendly atmosphere and great prices to swing by and have a drink. It's a small treasure in our neighborhood now. read more

Found a great place with good food and friendly staff. This is not your typical bar, it has been updated. Makes you feel like your at a wooden cabin. It is small but cozy. What I love is that they outlets thru out so you can charge your phone and hooks for your purses. Added bonus for me is that they have the beers I like Crispin and Respoado. read more

Not sure where these bad reviews are coming from... came here for a friend's birthday yesterday night and I love it! I wish I lived even closer than the 10 mins I already do because I would be a regular! Even if I don't drink, I would even go there just to hang out for the ambiance and the star of the bar.. BRYAN! He was so nice. At first we were the only ones in the salon so all the attention was on us. He chatted, gave us life advice and joked around. I felt like I had known him for years! The decor is so cute... it's decorated just like it's name, you walk in and boom! A cabin. Warm, inviting and right now decorated with the cutest Christmas decorations. The decor here is adorable and, just as the name suggests, cabin-like. Drinks are affordably priced and the place is much cleaner than other nearby bars. They even have special events, such as a beach party, on occasion. Popcorn is never in short supply and there's quite the array of popcorn salts to compliment it. That being said, the staff seem to be a tight knit group of friends. If the staff spending time socializing and drinking with each other is a problem for you, then maybe skip this place. read more

I've been eyeing this space as work was done on it since I pass it every day on my walk to the train. It's opened within the past few weeks and already seems to be doing pretty solid neighborhood business. The interior is definitely cabin inspired and on a cold winter night, felt very cozy. Lots of wood, faux fireplace, some stuffed deer heads on the wall, etc. The beer and liquor selection were solid, including a few choices from a Montana brewery that I'm not familiar with. I think everything might have been out of bottle -- perhaps they are still working on getting taps in there. It might help to get a few local brews in there, which did seem to be missing from the lineup. There is no kitchen, but the bar is tucked away into a smaller space so this isn't surprising. There is, however, a crepe place right next door that stays open until 10pm or so. I hope these two businesses figure out some sort of weekend brunch cross-promotion -- that would be excellent. They do, however, have a popcorn machine and kept our little basket of popcorn full. In all, definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood, even with Paddy Mac's right down the street. This place seems like a quieter spot to actually meet up with friends and have conversation instead of hanging out at the bar and eating nachos during a loud sports game down the street. It will be interesting to see how this place does over the summer -- I certainly wish them luck and will be back. read more

Not sure what the bad reviews from 6/30 is all about considering I go to The Cabin pretty regularly and I like the bartenders, as well as the owner. When going to a bar, I want to relax, not analyze the name or premise for the naming of the business....way too complicated. This place has come a long way and hats off to finally having a great establishment to relax at in the hood! My friends and I were just bar hopping around the area to get to know the neighborhood, as I moved here around 4 months ago! We stopped into The Cabin and were all so charmed by it! It definitely feels like your Uncle's Northern Michigan Cabin on the inside! It's really cute and cozy, but as seating goes... not so cozy. It's really small, probably seats 15 people. The chairs are uncomfortable, but, whatever, you're probably drunk anyways. The drinks are cheap and the bartender is friendly, and the music is great! Now... If they only served food, i would be here all the time. read more

Very welcoming place. The staff, the owner, and the patrons are all very friendly. I've been here several times, and after buying a few rounds, I inevitably get a round of drinks comped. The prices are also very reasonable, such as $3 for a tall boy of Schlitz. I do wish they had more food, but that's not what this place is for. Nice little place with unique lodge decor and a very friendly bartender. There was a Blackhawks game on, so everyone was watching that. It got pretty loud in the small wood-paneled room, but just during the game. Mostly a locals crowd, regular folks just hanging out. Smoking area out back. Beer selection was fairly limited for craft beer, mostly Big Sky and Sweetwater, i'm guessing due to the wild game on the labels. There was Anti-Hero IPA on draft, but it wasn't on the laminated list of beer logos. Lagunitas too. Overall i'd probably drop by again for a beer, although Independence Tap has a much wider selection. The Cabin is a nice addition to the area. read more

First time at the Cabin and what a treasure! Loved Paul the bartender, couldn't be nicer. Harry the owner made "SingleL" and myself feel like we were regulars. Saw the outside after going to the church across the street for a Latin Jazz Christmas sponsored by Carlson Community Center and Irving Park Lutheran Church, and we had to check it out. Almost five years old, the Cabin feels like a Chicago bar that's been around for decades. Thank you Harry and we will be back. read more

Bad experience here. The owner was mean, drunk, unfriendly and rude. At one point, he yelled at customers, saying "This is my bar. I am the f****** owner of this f****** bar" and turned on the lights of the bar, telling everyone to get out (before closing time). The bartenders were very nice and friendly, but from the minute my friends and I came in the bar, the owner was rude. I wanted to like this place and come back, but I will just go up the street to Paddy Macs like we did that night. read more
