Chicken salad sandwich and kettle chips.
    Jill M.

Lunch was great. Started with fresh brewed iced tea and the Peach Gazpacho soup. The soup was an unexpected surprise. I would go for an entire bowl next time. The omelette and sandwich were what you would expect. Both lunches were just what we were hoping for at a quaint little restaurant. Our server was happy to explain the menu options. I wouldn't come with a large group, but 2-4 would be perfect party size for a nice meal out.

    Chilean sea bass special

Very good. Michael was our server and he was fantastic. Definitely an older crowd, and BYOB only. Had the evening's special - sea bass on a purée of parsnips and some other veggie I can't recall. Had a few apps to start, all good but nothing overly memorable. Room was relatively quiet and tables spaced out enough to have a conversation without shouting, which has become my latest pet peeve. Great place to have a relaxed, quiet meal.

Nestled among some very nice shops, The Silverspoon was a delight. Very comfortable dining room experience. They have a decent number of inside and outside tables. The host was very warm and accommodating. The food here was very good. I noticed a few delicious plates go by. I ordered two eggs over easy with roasted potatoes and maple bacon. Nice experience from start to finish. Looking forward to coming back.

Visited on a Sunday and was very pleased with my meal and service. I hd a nice little table on the outside patio. It was a little loud inside and out but I'm not sure what could be done about that. I got the chicken cutlet sandwich and it was very good but very difficult to eat because it was so thick. The fries were cooked perfectly!

You can see the half slice of unmelted Swiss cheese and a side of cold sauerkraut bc they forgot to put it on my Reuben. Sent it back.

Had a really disappointing experience at Silverspoon recently. We came for lunch on a Saturday and were seated outside. The experience started off fine and we ordered Brussels sprouts to start and then the French toast and grilled Rachel (basically a hot turkey Reuben) for our mains. About 15 min later, the waiter brought out the sprouts which were charred beyond belief... I like a good char but I'm not joking when I say that a strong breeze literally blew sprouts off of the plate bc they were burned to crisps.. they were plated on some type of sauce that was delicious and was the only saving grace. Then, nothing.. 45+ minutes go by after finishing the brussel sprouts and still no French toast or sandwich. The waiter did mention the kitchen was backed up so we tried to be patient but when we saw 3 separate tables who were seated well after us (talking 30 min or more) get their food first, including the table next to us get what I had ordered, we called the waiter over and asked what was going on to which he replied that it was "crazy" other tables were getting their food first and he'd go check again. Some time after that he finally comes back with our food only for me to realize they didn't add any sauerkraut to my Reuben sandwich... They also used one single slice of Swiss cheese for the whole sandwich, which wasn't even melted. I called this out to the waiter whose solution was to bring me a side of cold sauerkraut to add myself, so not warmed or mixed with thousand island dressing. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes for a cold and incorrectly made sandwich, I ended up sending back. They did end up comping the Brussels (though not the turkey sandwich I didn't eat any of) and my boyfriends French toast was good so I'm giving 2 stars but we definitely won't be going back anytime soon. I get things happen and my best guess is either the waiter or the kitchen lost our ticket but the way they handled it was really poor.

Went here for brunch. It was parents weekend for Villanova and every other place in the area was jam packed. We waited a few minutes and we seated. The menu is small so there aren't many options. The food wasn't anything special. The sandwich was served on bread you'd find at your grocery store and same with the English muffin and the pita. The service was absolutely terrible. Our server was trying her best but she had too many tables to manage. With so many other options in the area, we won't be back.

My friend and I came here for an early dinner Tuesday night. The place is super cute and cozy! I had no idea this place existed. The menu is small and simple but looked really good. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice evening to dine out. We both got the steak frites. This entree came with sliced steak, plenty of fries and a veggie kabob. Fries were nice and crispy, steak was a little overdone (asked for medium rare) but seasoned really well and was super tender I didn't send it back. Veggies were fresh and delicious and overall was a solid meal. For dessert my friend got the special peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream while I got the chocolate truffles. Didn't care for the vanilla sauce that came with the truffles but the truffles itself were rich and chocolately. My friends peach cobbler was divine with that melt in your mouth brown sugar crumble on top. Service was also attentive and friendly. Would love to come back to this neighborhood spot in the future:)

I thought I'd reviewed this spot before. My mom and I first came a few years ago when visiting a lot of the small towns and main streets around greater Philadelphia. We had gone to Valley Forge Flowers after spending some time at Chanticleer Gardens and spotted The Silverspoon in the plaza. It looked adorable and busy so we stopped over and had a nice breakfast. Last year, we ended up staying the area when we visited the Philadelphia Flower Show so we stopped in for lunch. Our most recent visit was for dinner. We'd eaten a later lunch so we weren't starving but wanted to have a meal here since we enjoyed the food and atmosphere both times prior. All our meals have been good but dinner was excellent. We shared an order of homemade pierogies, We are Polish and found them very tasty. The horseradish cream sauce elevated them a bit. For my meal, I had a large and delicious salad the apples, cheese, crispy sweet potato, and pepitas. I added grilled chicken to my salad. The chicken was cooked perfectly and very tender and flavorful. If I'd been served the chicken as an entree, I'd have been pleased. We had enjoyed dessert here on our last visit but were too full to order anything this time. Our server, I believe his name was Michael, was so friendly and welcoming. He made it feel like we were regulars. If we lived nearby, we would be! This is a nicer but casual spot for breakfast or lunch and felt a bit fancier but still casual for dinner. The menu wasn't huge but had nice selection of dishes. Everything we saw going by to the other tables looked amazing. Even though we had a smaller meal with salads and a shared appetizer, we received the type of service I'd expect at a much fancier restaurant. It stands out to me when a restaurant provides excellent service, no matter what you are ordering- it makes me more likely to keep going back. This restaurant is in a really cute plaza. I would recommend this spot for any meal. It seems to have become our tradition to go every year so I'm looking forward to my next visit, when I'll leave room for dessert!

So I would rate Silverspoon 4.5 if permitted. This is a BYOB. We had a couples dinner recently. We tried we tried the pear salad and the shrimp appetizers. The pear salad was really good with an interesting dressing. The shrimp were good but based on the menu for some reason I expected a little zing (didn't get it). The mains were the chicken and the short ribs. The chicken was delicious as was the short ribs. The short ribs had a great addition of veggies, sliced potatoes and mashed potatoes. The food was very filling. The prices are appropriate. The service was very attentive. We will go back to Silverspoon!

Deviled eggs topped with crab meat and bacon on top of hummus
    Christina G.

Service is always great. I've eaten here several times for brunch. I love that they source their food locally and often change up the menu while still keeping some favorites (like the BLT). Today I LOVED the deviled eggs. The hummus that came with was so creamy and delicious. My only wish was that it came with more. I ordered a side of potatoes to help fill me up. The quiche and omelets are always great. The caramelized bacon makes the BLT. Even if you don't get the BLT I highly recommend a side of caramelized bacon for the table to share. We got 6 slices of bacon for the side dish.

I'm sorry I missed her name, but she definitely made our experience even better! The place is mostly cat-themed, which makes it extra cute, and it's such a nice touch that they have cats there. We tried the special French toast with mango butter (very sweet, but absolutely delicious!), blueberry pancakes, chicken quesadilla, and turkey panini. Everything we ordered was tasty! It can feel a little pricey, but knowing that the profits from the meals go directly toward supporting animals makes it totally worth it. Such a wonderful initiative, and overall, a great place with great food and a great cause!

Today we ordered an item so new that it's not yet on the printed menu: Waffle Sticks. What in the free world are they? Well, picture a waffle shaped like a corn dog, except it's a waffle. I have to say this is like having fun carnival food without the hassle, heat, lines and crazy pricing. I got mine "plain" (you can get chocolate chips inside them) with sides of maple syrup and Nutella for dipping. Yeah? It's Heaven. Lovely little cafe, great service, and the money you spend goes to a nonprofit animal rescue. What's not to love?

And the ambiance is really nice -- fancy farm to table with plush seating and pillows. If you're going to get an appetizer, I would highly recommend getting the snack board to share (unfortunately this was eaten before I got to take photos). It includes delicious biscuits paired with the most perfect sausage gravy, thick cut bacon, fruit, croissant, warm donut holes, deviled eggs, and dips/jams. THEY ARE INCREDIBLE. The gravy is jaw-dropping and perfect with the texture of the biscuit -- trust me, you have to try it!!! The donut holes are fluffy and soft fritters. I also really loved the deviled eggs' flavor. For my entree, I got the breakfast pot pie (in the photo) which had the same incredible gravy and biscuit crust as the appetizer, topped with a crispy fried egg. My sister had the Challah French Toast (peach compote) which was also incredible -- perfect without being too sweet. Both were huge portions. Service was also excellent -- our waitress very kindly brought out our toddler nieces' kids' meals first along with our appetizers. She even brought out a little sorbet on the house for my sister's birthday (which also was very very good!)

There was…read morea lot of snark and attitude detected, and we were a big party, which means she's automaticaly raking in 20% on a substantial bill. And we all got alcoholic drinks, and many with desserts. The Smoked Old Fahioned was very not good. It smelled nice, but tasted like cherry cough syrup. It was like smoked cherry cordial with a splash of well-shelf bourbon. It's probably not literally well-shelf... just an emphasis on how unpalatable this was and therefore expensive for what it is. I didnt pay $15+ for some cherry cordial. Waitress vocalized distaste when we wanted to spit checks - which we told her before placing orders. Then she gave sh** about seating arrangements; since we wanted to split checks she ordered us to sit by how checks are being split. That's a new one... She said she would have to write separate checks... an obvuous approach... I endorse that plan smh. Wouldn't that be easier when it comes to "splitting checks" when all is said and done? To treat us as separate tables but still tack on 20% per check? As we are wrapping up dinner and everyone else was looking over dessert, I told her she could bring mine now since I have a 45 min drive back to CC and I have perishables. People are now eating their dessert and she's still fussing aroundat her kiosk. I eventually approach her and asked for mine again. She got super frustrated and unprofessional, and said us wanting to split bills is (exact words) "tumultuous." Does she even know what that word means? "I thought you wrote separate checks?" But she's trying to figure out how to split like $8 rolls among like 12 people. She was like, "Then who is paying for the rolls?" That is her job to find out. I am a guest, not the host of the party. I only know three other people there. She walks to the table and says (again..exact words), "Who's paying for the rolls?" As if we are planning on dining and dashing with basic dinner rolls. Why? Because we are a table of minorities? Had we been a table of all white, would she have asked HOW we would like to have it split? I was in the dine-in food service industry for several years. I had thought splitting checks was a very common practice, and I absolutely did NOT ask patrons to sit in specific order. White Dog in UC didn't do that either (or anywhere else). Perhaps White Castle is more within her playing field. Some courses in sensitivity training may aid in her professional development. And they wanted to charge like $4 per person since someone baked cupcakes.... reminder that most people also ordered dessert on top of all this. They can go pound the sand.
