I decided to dine here mainly because I am a lover of savory pies, and the Duck Pie did not disappoint. So many times when I eat out and a savory pie is on the menu I find myself staring at a deconstructed thing. All the ingredients piled on a plate in a lovely gravy with a Pie Puff on top. Good, but not great. In this The Silverspoon already has my vote as they made an honest to god PIE. Full crust top and bottom and when you factor in that the filling was spectacular, the duck juicy and tender and the crust not too flaky and not too crunchy? I was in heaven. Piled atop the Pie was a veritable mountain of watercress and Pomegranate seeds (next time I will set them to the side so I can choose the proper amount per mouthful) and it's here that the Pie really took off. The Pomegranate seeds were little jewels of sweet and tart juice that gave a little pop of color and cool to the delicious duck with every bite. I was so very thrilled with it. I got an opportunity to speak with the new proprietor Michael and he was also an absolute pleasure. The service was friendly and the food was incredible. I will absolutely be back! The only thing I wish was that I had checked my doggie bag before I left, sadly my pie leftovers must have been placed in another bag. Best BYOB around. The menu is consistently updated but all the old favorites are still available. We had the new corn dip appetizer...just amazing. If you order the half roasted chicken as an entree be prepared to bring half if home it's huge. And delicious, would be my go to choice! Home made I cream desserts were also awesome. Had a really disappointing experience at Silverspoon recently. We came for lunch on a Saturday and were seated outside. The experience started off fine and we ordered Brussels sprouts to start and then the French toast and grilled Rachel (basically a hot turkey Reuben) for our mains. About 15 min later, the waiter brought out the sprouts which were charred beyond belief... I like a good char but I'm not joking when I say that a strong breeze literally blew sprouts off of the plate bc they were burned to crisps.. they were plated on some type of sauce that was delicious and was the only saving grace. Then, nothing.. 45+ minutes go by after finishing the brussel sprouts and still no French toast or sandwich. The waiter did mention the kitchen was backed up so we tried to be patient but when we saw 3 separate tables who were seated well after us (talking 30 min or more) get their food first, including the table next to us get what I had ordered, we called the waiter over and asked what was going on to which he replied that it was "crazy" other tables were getting their food first and he'd go check again. Some time after that he finally comes back with our food only for me to realize they didn't add any sauerkraut to my Reuben sandwich... They also used one single slice of Swiss cheese for the whole sandwich, which wasn't even melted. I called this out to the waiter whose solution was to bring me a side of cold sauerkraut to add myself, so not warmed or mixed with thousand island dressing. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes for a cold and incorrectly made sandwich, I ended up sending back. They did end up comping the Brussels (though not the turkey sandwich I didn't eat any of) and my boyfriends French toast was good so I'm giving 2 stars but we definitely won't be going back anytime soon. I get things happen and my best guess is either the waiter or the kitchen lost our ticket but the way they handled it was really poor. read more

My friend and I came here for an early dinner Tuesday night. The place is super cute and cozy! I had no idea this place existed. The menu is small and simple but looked really good. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice evening to dine out. We both got the steak frites. This entree came with sliced steak, plenty of fries and a veggie kabob. Fries were nice and crispy, steak was a little overdone (asked for medium rare) but seasoned really well and was super tender I didn't send it back. Veggies were fresh and delicious and overall was a solid meal. For dessert my friend got the special peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream while I got the chocolate truffles. Didn't care for the vanilla sauce that came with the truffles but the truffles itself were rich and chocolately. My friends peach cobbler was divine with that melt in your mouth brown sugar crumble on top. Service was also attentive and friendly. I thought I'd reviewed this spot before. My mom and I first came a few years ago when visiting a lot of the small towns and main streets around greater Philadelphia. We had gone to Valley Forge Flowers after spending some time at Chanticleer Gardens and spotted The Silverspoon in the plaza. It looked adorable and busy so we stopped over and had a nice breakfast. Last year, we ended up staying the area when we visited the Philadelphia Flower Show so we stopped in for lunch. Our most recent visit was for dinner. We'd eaten a later lunch so we weren't starving but wanted to have a meal here since we enjoyed the food and atmosphere both times prior. All our meals have been good but dinner was excellent. We shared an order of homemade pierogies, We are Polish and found them very tasty. The horseradish cream sauce elevated them a bit. For my meal, I had a large and delicious salad the apples, cheese, crispy sweet potato, and pepitas. I added grilled chicken to my salad. The chicken was cooked perfectly and very tender and flavorful. If I'd been served the chicken as an entree, I'd have been pleased. We had enjoyed dessert here on our last visit but were too full to order anything this time. Our server, I believe his name was Michael, was so friendly and welcoming. He made it feel like we were regulars. If we lived nearby, we would be! This is a nicer but casual spot for breakfast or lunch and felt a bit fancier but still casual for dinner. The menu wasn't huge but had nice selection of dishes. Everything we saw going by to the other tables looked amazing. Even though we had a smaller meal with salads and a shared appetizer, we received the type of service I'd expect at a much fancier restaurant. It stands out to me when a restaurant provides excellent service, no matter what you are ordering- it makes me more likely to keep going back. This restaurant is in a really cute plaza. I would recommend this spot for any meal. It seems to have become our tradition to go every year so I'm looking forward to my next visit, when I'll leave room for dessert! read more

So I would rate Silverspoon 4.5 if permitted. This is a BYOB. We had a couples dinner recently. We tried we tried the pear salad and the shrimp appetizers. The pear salad was really good with an interesting dressing. The shrimp were good but based on the menu for some reason I expected a little zing (didn't get it). The mains were the chicken and the short ribs. The chicken was delicious as was the short ribs. The short ribs had a great addition of veggies, sliced potatoes and mashed potatoes. The food was very filling. The prices are appropriate. The service was very attentive. We will go back to Silverspoon! read more

What a great brunch we had. I'm not usually a 5 star Yelp review guy but this place checks off all the boxes. The ambiance is great with a high end French cafe vibe that includes a classic tin sealing. The wait staff was professional, well dressed, friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious! Service is always great. I've eaten here several times for brunch. I love that they source their food locally and often change up the menu while still keeping some favorites (like the BLT). Today I LOVED the deviled eggs. The hummus that came with was so creamy and delicious. My only wish was that it came with more. I ordered a side of potatoes to help fill me up. The quiche and omelets are always great. The caramelized bacon makes the BLT. Even if you don't get the BLT I highly recommend a side of caramelized bacon for the table to share. All food came out at a reasonable pace (we took ~60 minutes at the restaurant). Food: Tried the chicken salad and Grilled Rachel sandwich, and thought both were very well-prepared! I liked the extra crunch from the bacon in the chicken salad sandwich. That said, I felt like I could also have prepared a similar chicken salad sandwich since the ingredients were generally simple (lettuce, bacon, chicken salad, whole wheat bread). 4/5: I thought the food was tasty, and glad they offered reservations for brunch, though I personally wished the options were a bit less costly (~$15 for a sandwich that I could have assembled felt a bit high). The food was fresh and delicious and our server, Michael, was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Whatever you order, be sure to add a side of the house potatoes: thinly sliced and salted perfection. As for the food it was just okay however I was very disappointed with my French Toast. I will say the syrup and specialty butter was delicious however the French Toast was one piece of large hard bread that even soaked in batter did not soften. The edges of the bread was so hard it gave the feel of croutons or DAYS old bread, so I ate the middle. It lacked enough batter to add flavor I didn't taste egg, vanilla or cinnamon. Not good at all. My mother had two eggs, with potatoes and toast, we shared a side of bacon. The side of bacon was expensive but you get enough to offset the cost. It was tasty caramelized bacon. Moms meal was standard but adding fried onions helped the potatoes a lot. The coffee was very good. The food was average nothing special. I had a 5pm reservation today with the restaurant and when we got there to be seated, the woman went to seat us outside. I told her that our reservations were for inside, and she said that no, they were for outside. I told her that I called on Thursday to change the reservation to inside. I showed her the call log and she said, that there was nothing she could do. The gentleman seemed more helpful by offering to seat us near two heaters, but it's freezing, and that's not going to help. This is my first time in a year and a half going out to dine, and they ruined the experience due to poor management. The older woman kept insisting that she's the only one who could have made the change. All of this to say, if you are going to change reservation times there, make sure to call back several times to make sure that the change has been made. Otherwise, your SOOL. Heading back home as no other restaurant in the area has availability the day before Mother's Day. read more

Menu is small but offers very unique options. I got the soup of the day, Potato Leek, and the Carrot Cake French Toast. Both were delicious! Serving sizes were just right; great flavors, textures, temperature, and presentation. Service was good. Our waitress was attentive and friendly enough, but not super "warm and fuzzy." He made sure we were comfortable and he was very professional. We received 5 star service. There were heaters available. Now, about the bacon! It was all that and more. I started out with a Caesar salad. The croutons tasted homemade. The Brussels sprouts were fried and on top of homemade hummus. The burger was awesome. Do not order a burger from this place. The kids burger I ordered for my daughter was RAW inside, not pink but raw. Thankfully , I sliced it in half for her before she ate it and got sick. My husband also ordered a burger, med-well, and his was on the rare side. so disappointed!!! read more

Oh my goodness! Where do we start?! Wife had brioche French toast with a blueberry sauce...she loved it. I had the Farmers omelette and we also ordered a side of the caramelized pepper bacon. It was Saturday, 9/12/15, early afternoon. I said, "I'm hungry, let's go to lunch". He said, "Where?" Selected the Silverspoon after scanning restaurants in the area and good-great reviews from fellow Yelpers. Located in the Eagle Village Shoppes, a high end consortium of restaurants, flower shop and boutiques. Indoor and outdoor seating is always a plus but the day we were there was cloudy so we opted to eat inside. Inside the restaurant there are large sized windows allowing an abundant amount of natural light in. The ambiance was airy with a fresh almost new feeling. Tin paneled ceiling, chic patina industrial table tops and natural material flooring. The brunch menu offered a combination of sweet and savory selections and was well portioned. I opted for the Salmon salad sandwich with home made potato chips. The sandwich was really flavorful, light and ample. Homemade chips were delicately salted, crispy and slightly darkened. Just the way I enjoy them. My guy dined on mixed berry french toast with vanilla sauce which was absolutely mouth watering and gastronomically pleasing. Of course, I had a bite or maybe two. Not a morsel was left on the plate. On the way out noticed a flyer that the restaurant which also serves dinner is having an upcoming lobster tasting menu mid week for 2 consecutive weeks. Originally I was planning on trying out The Silverspoon during the dinner hour but last minute plans changed and instead my husband and I went the next day to give the brunch a whirl. We were very happy with our choices and time spent at The Silverspoon. I am not a brunch expert like a few of my friends are but I thought the menu had great choices and I was happy with the food I ordered. To start with both got soups. I got the mushroom bisque and my husband got the lobster bisque. We each only got a cup size because we knew we wanted other options on the menu. He ordered the chicken and waffles and I got the chicken salad sandwich. Both meals were very tasty and I thought they came as a very nice quantity. I think the only downside is the prices of the meals. I knew before going there that this was a pricer place but I do not think I could frequently come here for brunch. The caramelised bacon was amazing and was a generous side serving for the table. Truffle fries came out a bit late but were worth the wait. Ingredients in my chicken salad platter were extremely fresh and the blackened salmon in my daughter's salad was excellent. Mushroom soup was great too.
