    Yo Gabba Gabba colors cake!
    Jessica C.

The Cake Shop did my daughter's birthday cakes (yes, two of them!) for her first birthday party. I wanted a bit of a splurge cake so I got two cakes professionally made which seemed very strange to my frugal Midwest family. Worth it! We decided to go with a Yo Gabba Gabba themed "main" cake (the one for the grown ups) and a small custom cake for the birthday girl. The two cakes were $50 altogether, which seems a little bit steep but I have never ordered a cake from a bakery and I'm used to Costco sheet cakes. The "main" large cake was beautiful, they bakers totally used my guidance and came up with a great, inspired piece of cake-art. I loved it! Trendy and cute and yummy. It was chocolate with buttercream frosting and it was just DELISH! In fact, my mouth is watering just thinking about this cake. YUM! The small cake (the smash cake) for my daughter was very cute. I asked for pink and green with her name on it and it came out looking very nice. This may be totally standard, because its just a 'smash cake', but it didn't taste as decadent as the larger cake. And yes, my kid ate only about two handfuls on her smash cake and the rest was for mom and dad. I understand why the smash cake was less indulgent so its really not a problem for me. We had a great experience with The Cake Shop and we will be loyal customers for all of our cake ordering needs.

Tasted as good as it looked. The BEST buttercream icing around.

I ordered 2 full sheet cakes from The Cake Shop for my mother's 90th birthday party after doing taste tests with other close bakeries. They have the BEST Buttercream icing around. The cakes were absolutely wonderful. They were so moist and delicious. All of the guests raved about how tasty the cake was. The Cake Shop will always get my business when a special cake is needed.

The best ever strawberry cupcakes I have ever had! The cupcakes were moist with small chunks of strawberry on the inside. The buttermilk icing was so flavorful! Service was excellent. Very affordable. I would go back every day if I could. This is the best place in Dayton to get your sweet treats from!

This place was wonderful! Super easy to place an order for a custom cake and a discount when I paid in cash. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Placed a huge order for cookies, a cake, and cupcakes for a very important baby shower -- all of which needed to travel to Indianapolis and survive. All we heard were raves about how cute everything was, how moist the cake and cupcakes were, and how delicious the cookies were! Very pleased and will definitely order from them again.

Ele has been my go-to cake place for about 8 years (since I first had their cake at a co-workers…read morebirthday). I don't really care for sweets (I even recycle Halloween candy from year to year!), but I dream of Ele's white cake with butter cream frosting. Last week I threw a party - I ordered the cake online on Wednesday for a Saturday pickup. The website is really easy to navigate and allows you to customize your cake. As this was a landmark birthday party, we wanted all black and gray frosting - weird, I know, but it came out perfectly (and was actually very pretty). I arrived on Saturday an hour before I had stated in my order, the cake was ready, and since you can pay online too, I was in and out in 90 seconds. Now, at the end of a grown-up birthday party, you're usually putting the extra cake back in the box and counting the days until the frosting is hard enough to throw the leftovers away and you don't have to feel like you're wasting food. Or is that just me? Regardless, at the end of this party, there wasn't a crumb left (anticipating this, I had already put a generous sized slice in tupperware during the Passing of the Cake Plates cake-cutting ritual - heheheh). I once drove through a massive snowstorm to get one of their cakes (for a party being thrown for me, in fact), because, although the roads were treacherous, they were open for business, my friends are apparently timid drivers, and the cake really is THAT good.

They had three small cakes vanilla, chocolate and marble. I was hoping for something more interesting but no other choices. I went with the marble. The woman put my husband's name on it with Happy Birthday. The cake also had flowers decorating it. I was disappointed that this cake did not taste any different than the ones in the grocery store but it cost a lot more. I won't be back. The bakery was clean and big and in fact seemed too big.

So when I found Purely Sweet Bakery on Instagram, I was super excited and wanted to try them the next time I was in the Dayton area. Since I don't live close by, I ended up buying everything that was GF/DF. I wasn't sure how long they had been sitting out, but I found majority of the items to be dry. Good flavor, but dry. I've had cookies and bars other places near me that are GF/DF and not dry...the only difference I can think of is that I was able to get those items fresh, whereas with these being on the shelf, maybe was the difference. Or maybe the cookies were meant to be a crunchy cookie. Chocolate Chip Cookies - good flavor, crumbly Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies - good flavor, crumbly Oatmeal Cream Pie - dry and too sweet for me Buckeye Donut - delightful flavor, very dense and a lot of icing, but I know that kept it on the moist side. Cinnamon Roll - great flavor, but still dry on the inside even after heating it up per instruction. Sticky Bun - great flavor, but dry on the inside as well after heating up. 6 Layer Bar - too too sweet for me Salted Carmel Cookie Bar - too sweet for me What I'll probably do next time is order some of the items ahead of time and pick them up day of. All in all, I'm always a huge fan of bakeries that have allergen friendly items and create baked goods for us allergen peeps to partake in. I give a shout out of appreciation to you. Thank you!

After I chose a seat, they brought out my breakfast croissant on a paper plate. I wish the cheese was melted, but the sandwich was really good. The croissant was impressive-it tasted like I was back in Paris. It just felt like I was in my hotel lobby having breakfast with all the paper products. I opted for an assortment of to go pastries to try--almond croissant, lemon blueberry scone, and coffee cake. They were all pretty delicious, except the scone. The coffee cake was the best. There were also other parties in there that I didn't get a chance to even get too but there was a cinnamon roll and some pastry with strawberries and crème in the middle. 10/10 will definitely have to come back and get some more pastries and goodies
