Like many people who try out The Camp with the 6-week 20-pound challenge, I thought, "Will this work?" 6 weeks later I can attest that it isn't easy but it does. In 6 weeks I was able to lose 25 pounds. I did this by following the meal plan and showing up for class 6 days a week at 5 am most days. I just finished my second challenge in a row. I am down a total of 51 pounds. I have learned how push myself harder than ever before. The workouts are awesome. I really liked Bryan's classes, he was incredibly enthusiastic and would always mix up the workout routines. Mike is also a great trainer, he adds cardio to keep your heart rate up. Both these trainers were very attentive to all of the clients making sure that they were in the correct form and not giving up. It makes difference when you feel like you are getting personalized service. I want Alex to get her own class because she kicks butt too! I suggest reading the booklet and ASK ASK ASK a lot of questions. Do not go shopping for answers, stick to Adrian's advice, that what he is there for! If my school schedule was more forgiving I would definitely do another challenge even though I missed the 20 mark by 4.5 pounds. The challenge holds you accountable. The workout room could be a little bigger. This gym does not make me feel self-conscious, maybe because everyone there has the same goal in mind and not there to impress. read more

I am so thrilled to have discovered The Camp Transformation in Palm Desert California! I never work out very much so I have always been very skeptical about group classes and how well the instructors are. But by my surprise all the trainers were so professional, caring and enthusiastic. The best park was being able to workout with other people of all different skill levels. From day one I was greeted like I had been going to this gym for a very long time. Prior to starting my six week challenge The Camp explained what to expect, what to eat and how to succeed. They added me to The Camp group discussion where I can get more support and ask questions of others participating in the program as well. The Trainers and staff really want you to be a winner not just get you in get you out. I right away felt like this was a very unique program that I will recommend to anyone new to fitness and dieting. After my first workout, no lie, it was hard and painful. Everyone said, keep going, you can do it, it will be better and worth all the sacrifice. My body had no concept of this kind of abuse. Drinking a gallon of water and restricting calories. And oh how my muscles ached. Then sure enough week three I notice major weight lose results and the soreness was much better. So I pushed through harder every week to beat my previous record. Working out 5-7 days a week and a very strict diet. I have also established new friendships with some of the gym members. This review is SO overdue! I could literally write a mini-novel explaining why The Camp Palm Desert is an amazing place & how much it has changed my life. I started going here back when they opened in 2017 and I was a part of their very first challenge. I didn't lose the 20 pounds, but I knew going into it that I lose weight differently than others and I didn't put expectations on myself and I knew this was going to be a lifestyle change for me. Does it work though? YES! I have been seeing people transform in front of my eyes and it's unbelievable how fast they can lose the weight just by following the rules and giving it their 100%. The pictures of me below speak for themselves, but going here has helped me with more than just losing weight, it's also helped my anxiety tremendously, has boosted my overall self-confidence, & my immune system is stronger than its ever been. Months passed by and I finally decided to get up and go sign up best decision I made for myself. I was extremely nervous to get back into a gym environment it can be intimidating at times. Turned into $297.00 (summer deal rate), and if you make your 20 pound goal you can get your money back. What would I have to lose? I can do this, I want my money back. I've got this! Right? Best (prolonged) decision I've ever made. Money is a great motivator! I was on my path, trecki along, doing great, but I knew by week 5 of the 6 week program I wasn't going to meet my 20 pound goal. (17.1 lb So close!) And guess what? I was so excited about the positive changes in my diet, my exercise, my heath, and my strength, I DIDN'T CARE my initial drive of getting my $297.00 back wasn't going to happen! As a matter of fact, I signed up for a membership AND another 6 week challenge! Seriously, the trainers CARE, the other members CARE, the workouts can be modified to ANY fitness level. You will get stronger. You will get healthier. Follow the program and you will see results. You work at your level. You work at your pace. But push yourself (safely) and you will be amazed. The facility is clean, the staff are pleasant. The front desk does get bombarded before and after classes, so I recommend messaging you director and assistant if the matter is non emergent. If you are using FTDI bars (delicious) I recommend buying more than one box at a time as they are not a stock item and only come in sporadically. The camp has been very good to me, the workouts are hard but I enjoy them more than any other workout, and it always feels very good to complete them. It's nice that the trainers know what they are doing and offer modifications or help when posture is off. There is also a good variety of equipment in the gym. At first I wasn't really sure of the place, there's a similar style gym nearby and I hated it because of the snobbiness of the other people. Eventually I ended up just saying I'm going to the gym for me and can ignore the people around me. Funny enough I love the people here. It's a much different environment than the other place. Everyone is encouraging and respectful of where you are physically. I started with the 20lbs challenge, and passed it and became a member. I started at 5"6 at size 11 pants, XL shirts. I was very weary about going to the camp in the first place but after hearing so many good things about it and seeing the different success stories I thought I would give it a try. Once I went in for my initial weigh in and the nutritional meeting I felt uneasy about what it would take to actually complete the challenge. I stuck to the meal plan 100% even to the point that for the last week and a half I had to eat only tilapia and asparagus every single meal. I never had a cheat meal, never had a cheat beverage and, begrudgingly, every single day ate what I was supposed to. At the beginning I was very encouraged because I lost a decent amount in the first couple weeks. However as a challenge went on it was getting more and more difficult to lose the pounds I was supposed to. Now when I worked out I went 110% no matter who the trainer was because it was important to me that I didn't give up on myself. In the end I went 40 different sessions even though 30 was the required amount. I barely made weight and lost a total of 20.1 pounds. The entire process was really frustrating because I was giving it my all following the darn instructions and it didn't seem to be working for my body type. But what was even more frustrating is the fact that I was getting conflicting information from different people who worked at the camp about what I should do to lose the last pounds I need it. There are times that they would forget they had told me to stick to one thing and would tell me I should be doing this instead. It seems like from every person I was getting a new set of "must do's" instead of one unified answer. Another thing they didn't tell me at the beginning but I found out in my last week is that the final few days you need to cut back on water intake almost completely if you still haven't met your goal. For the final few days leading up to my weigh out I was completely dehydrated and got sick because I wasn't constantly drinking the gallon of water that I had been used to for the past five weeks. Finally the last thing that I was not too impressed with was the fact that at the beginning I never had my height verified and therefore my "goal weight" was essentially whatever I wanted it to be. When I signed up for the challenge I was told that no matter how the challenge ended I would get to choose to continue on and do another challenge or get the refund for my money. By the end of the challenge they told me that only if I had met my goal weight that they would refund me. That is definitely not what they said during orientation. The workouts themselves are awesome. I enjoyed taking all of Mike's classes because he incorporated a good amount of cardio at the beginning of them and at the end of the class would always do something fun, like team competition. I also really liked taking Bryan's classes because he was incredibly enthusiastic and would always mix up how the class would be structured. But the main reason I like both of their classes so much was because they were very attentive to all of the clients making sure that they were in the correct form while lifting weights and doing the different workouts. This was important to me because I did not want to injure myself while on this journey to lose weight. James classes were good too, more so the upper body classes, however he was not as attentive to make sure our postures were correct. So in a few of his classes I definitely left feeling strained in certain areas. One thing I recommend to anyone who's read this far and is considering taking the camp challenge is that you should make sure you can see the credentials of each trainer prior to signing up just to make sure that they have the legitimate credentials to be telling you what to do with your body to make it stronger. The best is that unlike other gyms no one is judging you for what you look like or how much weight you are using. All in all I would suggest asking a lot of clarifying questions before starting the challenge and reading through the contract thoroughly. Do not go by what they say when they are going over the contract with you, go by what the contract says. Because at the end of the challenge they will only revert back to what the paperwork says. I would also suggest trying out a class with a friend before diving right into it. Like I said the classes are awesome and motivational but just realize that the diet portion is the main reason weight-loss can happen so quickly in the six weeks and be prepared for how limited your meals are about to become. I don't think I would do this challenge over again if I was given the choice but I would consider becoming a member because the high intensity interval training is something that definitely works for me and my body. So if you do decide to do it and take on this challenge all the best to you. Make sure you try to get classes with Mike and Bryan before either of them leave. read more

Really love the atmosphere of this camp. It's not regular gyms/weight loss centers. The trainers here actually care and pay attention! They help you fix your form so you don't injure yourself as well as push you to limits you didn't think you could reach! As for the members and challengers, everyone is so friendly and encouraging towards each other. You never feel judged by anyone! The trainers also modify workouts for those that aren't as advanced as well as modify for those that are well advance. Overall amazing gym and amazing people. Mandatory Review: I will have it known that this text was also sent in email form on 4/4/17. I have not received a reply back at this time. I have many concerns, the first concern being lack of communication. When we first signed up, or were contemplating signing up, we were bombarded with communication attempts via email and text. Once we were in the program, a lot of things were unclear, and my attempts to contact PD staff went unanswered. There was a person in my class that said, "Wow, they really seemed to be available before we signed up, but now that we have questions, no one is available!" That is NOT the type of brand that The Camp is trying to promote in their 'family-like' environment. I know that I am not the only challenger that has had trouble getting my questions answered, I have talked to several others who have voiced their frustrations as well. My suggestion is to have a client-liaison. This person will have each challenger's file and each week will keep track of their progress. When anyone has questions specific to their own progress they can ask thee client-liaison and get their questions answered directly. Another concern that I have is inconsistency. I have been told or read via the hard-body Facebook group a bunch of conflicting information. Information about when to carb cycle, how to carb cycle, who is supposed to tell you when/how to carb cycle. After the first 3 weeks, my body fat had only decreased by 1.9%, I had lost a total of 5 pounds. I messaged Adrienne 2-3 times without reply, I messaged Kylee who was attempting to get in contact with Anthony and heard nothing back after 2-3 messages. Finally, I ran into Adrienne and waited around after class to ask her what I should do. At first. she said nothing, just keep doing what you're doing-you're right on track, the next time I saw her she said, have you eaten today, you need to start carb cycling ASAP. How was this determination made? My BF% was never re-measured and I wasn't weighed. When scrolling the hard body Facebook page there is always conflicting info. When I asked Kylee for clarification. She too stated that she was receiving mixed information. Don't get me wrong, I have seen a great change in my body, and I am happy for that, but I did not meet the 5% goal, and I know it was because of poor direction and lack of communication, not because of lack of effort. I also think that calipers should be used along with the electronic BF% measuring device, because those types of devices can be so variable. A LOT of people have asked me about my experience at The Camp, and I have told them to wait til I'm done to give my honest opinion. Right now, I would tell people to proceed with caution. AND ONLY DO 20lb CHALLENGE, not HARD BODY! I will express to them my concerns about lack of guidance and direction. $500 is a lot of money to most people, and to feel like there isn't enough support to meet your goals is unacceptable for a place boasts "family-like" atmosphere. I do not plan to continue to work out at The Camp. Finally, I would like to commend Bryan Hemp and the absolutely amazing job he does. I have a fitness level that is beyond what most of my classmates have, and Bryan is always able to modify the exercises to ensure that I am challenged. He does a great job pumping up the energy and making sure that everyone is using proper form. Contrarily, Mike does not do an amazing job, or even a good job. Mike is too absorbed in himself to adequately train others. He does not correct form, he does not motivate with positive energy, and he checks himself out in the mirror while flexing. That is very distracting and arrogant. All Mike seems to want to talk about is himself; his body building days, his professional baseball career, or his famous father. NONE OF THAT MATTERS. We aren't here for Mike, we are here for ourselves. read more

There are lots of fitness centers and diet plans out there, but The Camp is simple if you only FTDI! The proof is in the pudding(pudding is not FTDI approved lol). The support and encouragement that the staff provides is amazing. From day one to the final weigh, I never had any doubt that I would not reach my goal. I really appreciate the knowledge that was shared about the muscle groups we targeted during workouts. I now feel equipped moving forward with the tools to be. successful in my fitness and health. I did the 6 week 20lb challenge and it was awesome! The palm desert location is great, the class sizes are perfect and trainers are all excellent. They offer classes through the morning and evenings to fit all schedules. I did not meet the 20lb weight after the 6weeks I lost 16.7lbs which is still awesome! Growing up I was always active but once I began working in office full time, It became more difficult for me to be active. I always had excuses and reasons for why I couldn't go to workout, I joined the challenge hoping the set schedule and diet would help me get back to an active/healthy lifestyle. The challenge did exactly that, I have lost weight and gained the energy and motivation I was lacking prior to joining. I was gaining weight from being stagnant and lazy during my nursing school program. I looked to get toned again before I graduate (I'm tall and was somewhat petite to begin with) and stay that way afterwards. The team at The Camp Transformation Center were great! They all motivated me stay on track with my meals (yes even through Stagecoach), exercise at least 5x/week, and continued to remind me that I will hit my goal even at the end of the first week when I was so sore I could barely walk or sit! I listened to them throughout the entire Hardbody challenge, stuck to the meal plan (which I loved), and pushed myself harder than I ever would have done by myself! The Camp has changed my life in a positive way! I am an avid gym user and have gone to almost every gym in the valley but have not been successful with weight loss because I am not consistent with my diet. When I made the choice to join the challenge I told myself that this time would be different; that I would follow through... and I did just that. I lost 23 lbs on my first challenge by following the meal plan provided and working out five times a week. I highly recommend The Camp; the workouts are engaging, everyone is supportive, the trainers push you, and the diet is challenging yet doable. I personally think that it is way to expensive for the type of workouts that the instructors provide. It is only an hour, but by the time they explain the work out, and stretch, it ends up being a 30 minute workout or less. Now with Covid the work out classes are outside and certain classes there are way too many people, that there isn't enough equipment for everyone (dumbbells). I believe that the meal plan is a bit extreme, if a meal plan diet restricts fruits/vegetables then I do not believe its healthy, a person will lose the weight out of starvation, but then once their off that diet they will gain it again. I would not recommend the camp to anyone, unless they truly have the money and no direction whatsoever to working out. I say stay home, put on a work out video on Youtube and get it going. Another thing would be to look into a gym that will truly provide you with access to all types of of equipment to work out & not simply outside in a dirty parking lot. read more

I have just completed my first ever body challenge thanks to "The Camp Transformation Center". I signed up for the 6 week Hard Body Challenge to lose 5% body fat...this was not an easy task, but being a part of The Camp Transformation Center made the road to a healthier lifestyle a lot easier than doing it on my own. The trainers I had for my workouts, Arnaldo, Alex, and Bryan were motivating and positive each and every day. The introduction to the challenge was very informative and the program is very structured and if you ftdi(follow the dam instructions), you will do well!! The protein shakes are amazing, my favorite is the pb/chocolate, also the pb bars are super yummy also. My final weigh in I lost 12.5 LBS and 7.3% body fat...Killed it!!! I was thrilled, and the reward of completing the challenge and feeling good, and seeing results was totally worth the dedication and 100% commitment that was put in each and every day. This was my 2nd challenge and although I was successful at loosing 20+ lbs. it was a bit harder for me as I wasn't as disciplined with the food. This resulted in playing catch up the last 2 weeks. The daily workouts were good and helpful. It appears that Bryan was promoted during this challenge however it seemed to have a negative impact on me and others I spoke to as now Bryan is behind a desk most of the week and not training the clients which is what we need. New trainer doesn't seem to know much and I think this is a negative for the business. I'm very glad I participated and completed the challenge successfully. read more

Today was the last weigh in and in 6 weeks I lost a total of 19 lbs!!! 1 lb away from 20! Even though i wasn't able to lose the 20 lbs, I am very happy with the progress I've made and the weight I've lost. I'm so glad that I joined the camp because without the help from the trainers and staff this would not have been possible.  Not only do they have the best trainers and staff but the classes are great! I never once dreaded having to go to the gym. The classes are fun and its great being around people that motivate and push you! I am type 1 diabetic and I take insulin and I haven't been able to lower my dosage in years...and since starting the camp I have lowered my insulin intake dramatically. Just for that alone I am very thankful for this experience. This isn't the end for me. I am now a member at The Camp and will continue with my journey to a healthier me! Joining the camp was by far one of the best decisions I've made so far this year. I was gaining a lot of weight and found myself a little lost. The camp gave me the discipline, accountability, and determination I had lost. They provided me with a very strict diet which includes eating protein, carbs, and vegetables about 5 to 6 times a day with a gallon of water each day. My first challenge went pretty smooth I lost a total of 22.5 pounds and had to do another one to reach my healthy weight. This is where things got a little harder because I got overconfident and wasn't putting that much effort as the first challenge which I should have considering that when you are closer to your healthier weight, it's more difficult to lose weight. I hit a big plateau for 3 straight weeks and by the fourth week I had just lost 5 of the 20 I had to lose .Even though it seemed impossible to lose a total of 15 pounds in 2 weeks and a few days I took this as challenge and overworked myself in the gym and pulled through. The camp staff is great they always greet you so pleasantly and the trainers are great as well they push you and modify workouts so you can get the most out of it. I really want to give a big shout-out to Mike he's such a great trainer he was always pushing me and giving me the best advice to come out successful in this challenge and he truly cares about the people that are there. I would recommend this to anyone that has that self-commitment to really lose weight because the camp just provides you with the diet and workouts and the rest is totally on you. Another thing I would like the camp to know which would be helpful is to remind challenger of deadlines, like having to be down 10 pounds by the 5th week and thoroughly reading and making sure the challenger comprehends the contract so that if we get disqualified the fault is on our end. I was about to get disqualified around 2 times if it weren't because I found out from another challenger and then talking to Adrian as well.
