I didn't like the decor. I'm not sure why it felt dated and unclean. I didn't get a chance to try the food. I was too full from the supper that I had ate at home. The service was good and the deals on the beers. However I didn't like that the seats inside on the bench's were we sat were completely worn, very unsanitary. I wouldn't really recommend. read more

We came here for a special event, Karen's Diner pop-up experience. It was so fun and hilarious! The service was "terrible" and the Karen's were in full force! It was a really fun special pop up dinner experience. We went as adults only but there were some kids there too. The food was fresh and delicious. I had a "Karen's Breast Friend" which was a fully loaded chicken sandwich and it was so yummy. It came with fries and pop and a very entertaining show that involved audience participation. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone if it comes back to town. I was a bit worried that I would not enjoy the bad service but it was funny and sarcastic. The food was great too! And if you're really hungry you could order more food from the regular menu too. read more

The order received was very subpar. I believe the skip the dishes had a huge part in the problem. The driver appeared to take his time making the delivery allowing the food to be very cold. I'd say the food was also underwhelming but that may have been the time of night the order was placed. With all that said skip the dishes refused to do anything so I called today and found the managers to be very helpful I'd say it's because of them I would give it another try. I am from Ontario, however most of my family is in Edmonton. Have not been to Canadian Brewhouse as of yet, but my family loves it. I will give them a 10* rating as the guy I spoke with on phone from fort Saskatchewan restaurant along with GM there were very helpful in directing me to the right person about gift card situation. This is my fave Brewhouse and my fave overall local watering hole. One of the big reasons I'm such a fan is that they are always consistent. This is particularly appreciated during these crazy Covid times. There always a good special on, both drinks and food. The menu updates regularly but all the pub staples are always on offer. The beer selection is second to none and pints are poured perfect and frosty. The space is big with lots of tv playing the sports of the season. Patio is awesome too. There's even a grass patch which is a cool novelty. The staff is excellent as well. This includes the Manager who is very available and very visible. It only takes a few visits before they remember your face and name and you are welcomed as a regular. read more

We waited over and hour for our food. ( chicken burger and fries, donair pita with a salad). When we asked the server she said they only had two cooks and lots of skip the dishes orders. I didn't realize skip the dishes was more important then paying customers sitting at tables in their restaurant. When we finally got our orders the pita and chicken burger had no sauces. Alright so this is just your average bar. Service really depends on the day and who your server is. I live really close so I have has a mixture of good and bad experiences over the years. Food is pretty good! They are accommodating and it is a fun place to go. HOWEVER, there is something that needs to be mentioned! DOUGHNUT POUTINE This is the best thing I have ever gotten from the Brewhouse and I 10/10 recommend people get this for desert. I keep coming back here because it's close by to my home. I really don't know why after repetitive not so great visits. I always have impeccable service when sitting at the bar, it's usually the food that's just okay. But two nights ago we went for a late evening patio snack and a few drinks. We were greeted promptly, told to sit anywhere we liked. Awesome. When we sat down on the patio, three people noted us sitting there. Three. We sat there for 28 minutes. Nobody came to ask us for a drink. Nobody asked us for our order. They were not even busy. Other groups came in and our two top continued to be ignored, while they were doted on even exiting or arriving. Insanely disappointing. We left. This would never happen at a single restaurant nearby. Lesson learned. I tip extremely well, I'm eastern and kind, I don't give bad reviews easily. In fact, I think I only have two besides this one. I typically think even if a server might be rude or not on their game, maybe they're just having a bad day and still tip accordingly and be gracious to unknown variables. I came to meet friends for a weekday lunch and it wasn't busy when I arrived at noon. A few more tables filled up during the lunch hour but we still got our food and ate within an hour. We sat in a booth which was more comfortable than the stools closer to the bar. The menu has the typical pub food with burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and appies. The blackened chicken wrap I ordered had square pieces of chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and ranch sauce. It was ok, nothing spectacular or terrible about it. For the side, I could choose from salad, soup, or fries. I picked the beef vegetable noodle soup. I liked the large pieces of beef in the soup, the noodle was more like egg noodle instead of pasta noodle, that I was expecting, and good vegetables. What I didn't like was that it seemed a little greasy instead of nice clear broth. My friend order yam fries and dip and I tried few which were good. My meal was $13 and my friends' meals were around that price and the portion sizes were good. Service was alright. If I'm in the area and meeting friends, would return to try something else. read more

I can't decide if I like this place so let me break it down based on my last visit there. Plus 2 stars for putting on my Habs game on a recent Saturday night (no Oilers game on, relatively empty bar, plus it was Habs-Leafs - classic Canadian rivalry). But minus 1 star for repeatedly forgetting to put the volume back on (think: at least half of the period gone by!). Plus 2 stars for the friendly waitress who even squeezed in a last happy hour drink for us just as we arrived. All smiles and willing to ask the manager about putting the Habs game on for us. But minus 1 for the worst poutine I've had in a while (photo to be uploaded soon). Crinkle cut fries that look just like McCain fries (including the "baked" not deep-fried look), gravy that tasted like it was made from a grocery store powdered packet, and grated cheese. The horror! I don't think this was clearly communicated on the menu because I would never have ordered this poutine otherwise. If it was on the menu, I apologize - it's just that they feature so many kinds of poutine on the menu (including a smoked meat one that my friend had that was deemed equally sub-par) that I assumed they had to have cheese curds - why else would you showcase the variety? Viewing some waitresses, they are experienced and have it down. The newer ones are quite rough around the edges. (ie. Late food or no food at all, ringing in wrong drinks etc etc) Background: I've been going to this location quite frequently. The establishment as a whole, is quite nice. This particular location has better customer service. I've lived Northside my whole life I used to go to the one on 127th Ave and 97 st. But that one has gone downhill in terms of customer service. I was quite excited when I heard about the one in st Albert opening but Alas, same results. Poor customer service. This place is far too loud. When I first got there for a special event this year (I've been here once a year for the past few years) the music volume was reasonable but once the football game was on it was clearly too loud to conduct a passable conversation and then it was worse after the game with the music blaring. Ugh. I'm not particularly fond of the uniforms that the waitresses wear here. And the seemingly funny bathroom signs are not funny to me at all: they are disrespectful and encourage inappropriate behaviour. Which is not okay: in a world where women often get inappropriate attention (in particular at bars) why make stupid jokes in areas where women ought to feel safe: the restrooms? The food at this location isn't bad, but it's not outstanding either. I've had much better pub grub elsewhere (and even at other Canadian Brewhouse locations in Alberta to be honest). I doubt I'll come here more often than the MAYBE once a year that I've visited (mostly because of special events) as a result. Service here has been uneven. The location has ample parking and is reasonably well served by transit. The central location is a perk for sure, but there are far better pubs and bars in the area. read more

I love this bar. The service is exceptional nine times out of ten. The food is generally good and the atmosphere is inviting. My issue lies with some of the management. Some of them are amazing and will do anything for the patrons. But some are the most cowardly people I've ever met. This place has gone from first to last. We came for some nice patio beers. As my friends were deciding what to drink I was warning them that the sizes had changed and what the Brewhouse calls a 'tankard' is actually just short of a Pint so the $7.99 'special' wasn't a great deal. The server overheard us and interjected "oh no they're 22oz they're huge!" I pointed to their menu where it's printed as 530ml which is 17.9oz. Not even a small pint. There was debate back and forth with her insisting they were 22oz even though the menus specifically say otherwise. In a nutshell the beer is overpriced and the servers lie right to your face. It has one of the most varied menus I have ever seen in a pub, with pizzas, burgers, poutines, mains, and much more, all described with tongue-in-cheek humour. I had the Guinness beef stew pie. It was served in a deep dish with a crust over it, the word Guinness emblazoned onto it. And, a Canadian flag on a toothpick. It's little touches like these that make the Brewhouse stand out. Service was good, and the place is a bit loud - and it was only early on a Friday. I can imagine the place filling up and getting even noisier. So, when I do return, I will come early. read more

My adventure for the perfect football-watching brunch spot continues. This time I was brought to the Canadian Brewhouse on 293847329th. It took some time for the staff to get the football games playing on the right televisions but once they got things in order, we were all able to view the games we wanted to. It was a bit late for brunch so I decided to go for a burger instead. I was happy to see that they offer vegetarian versions of all of their beef and chicken burgers so I ended up going for the veggie version of the buffalo chicken burger. While I really liked the toppings and the sauces, I was disappointed that they used a generic veggie burger patty for it. It was basically just a veggie circle smothered in buffalo sauce. While it was tasty, it would have been even better if they used a veggie chicken patty. Our server was really friendly and attentive throughout our visit. However, we felt somewhat rushed out at the end. One of my friends wanted to order some extra spinach dip for the table but she showed up with our bills. Even though she told us there was no rush, she came over with the debit machine right away. We ended up paying but decided to stick around to finish watching the game. She never came by again to fill up our waters. We decided we still wanted the dip so after more than 30 minutes we managed to flag her down. She ended up passing us off to another server. Overall I enjoyed myself here. The service and food were mostly good and it's a good atmosphere to watch sports while still being able to chat with your friends. read more

The service here has been consistently getting worse. The servers are unfriendly, sometimes downright rude, and are unattentive, even when the bar is empty. The food is consistently good though. The cheesy garlic fingers with donair sauce is a person favourite. The menu is huge, so there's bound to be something that tickles your fancy. Plus, it's got the bonus of witty jokes in the food descriptions, which I love. If you're in a drinking mood, you have to try a dangle. They are delicious!!! They're meant to be taken as a shot, but honestly they are just as good to sit and sip on. The Ninja Turtle dangle is by far the best. It's just sweet enough and doesn't even taste like booze! read more

The Brewhouse is a great downtown location where you can grab a stein and chill with friends. As a red-blooded sports bar, it wouldn't typically be my scene. However, its solid food, great service and compelling daily specials lure me in at least once or twice a month. The Brewhouse's individual pizzas, boneless wings and sandwiches are classic pub fare, and I've never had a problem with any dish. I like the wide variety of sauces that your proteins can be tossed in, ranging from Korean BBQ to Spicy Dill. 90% of the servers here are extremely friendly and attentive, which is a huge positive for me. The atmosphere is typical sports bar - loud and boisterous, particularly during games. The meat-head quotient is drawn in, of course - although the downtown location seems to bring in a lot of MacEwan students and downtown dwellers too, by virtue of its location. During the summer months, The Brewhouse has an excellent patio, sheltered and comfortable. For a casual pint and pub food binge in the downtown area, I'd reccommend the Brewhouse. read more

I first stumbled upon the Brewhouse with my ESSC floor hockey teammates on a Monday night last year in 2014. Whoa, I didn't know that was Karaoke Night. Tip: I didn't use my real name when I belted out Lena Horne's Stormy Weather. So, if you see Ziggy sing next time, that's me. But hey, it could be someone else using my stage name too. Dear Brewhouse, I think I've got a problem. I've become to love tankards because they are (somehow) cheaper than a pint when tankards are on drink specials. Mm, a tankard of Shock-Top. Oh, and I don't know what's in their spicy mayo for the sweet yam fries, but it's hazardously delicious. Thank goodness there are some Vitamin C in yam, so I can justify cheating with fries, after an hour of team sports. When I last looked at their menu this past Wednesday, I saw that they've got this burger-eating challenge. I had almost fainted at the number of ounces of meat -- it is definitely not for the faintest of hearts. If you can eat it within an hour, like Homer Simpson did on TV, it's on Brewhouse -- otherwise, if I remembered correctly, the bill would be over $30. This is going to be a fun floor hockey season. I have visited this location a handful of times and really don't expect much from it. The only reason I keep going back in because its close to home. I find the service is slow and terrible. The bartenders don't seem to put much effort into their drinks and don't take suggestions very well. I've been ignored a few times and wait long periods of time in between sitting down, ordering drinks and food, and having my another drink brought to me. Not the place for me. I understand why its busy and how come other people like it. The servers are super cute in super short plaid skirts and there are tons of tv's and they show pretty much every sporting event. When its -10 degrees out and you are walking from rogers arena because you got there too early looking for somewhere to watch some american football, this is the place for you.(did I narrow down the groupings too much) Service was super friendly, like even above normal canadian friendliness. Didnt order food, but had a couple nice brews and enjoyed the games before fighting the cold back. I'm back! It's been almost 5 years but I finally broke down and made a (successful) attempt to figure out my log in info. This time around I'll try to post more than once a year over the span of only two years. LOL. Anyway, was going to go to Old Spaghetti Factory and then when that didn't pan out (parking) to Red Robin which also didn't work out (they took steak off the menu except for in the fajitas). So me and the friend I took out for her birthday ended up here for what I believe was the first time. First off, it's my thing to add an excess of extraneous info to whatever I write to "set the scene". So if you want the short version, read till you think you've gotten the gist then move along. LOL. I really enjoyed the steak dinner that I went looking for. So did my friend who also had the same. The steaks came with a nice dipping sauce and along with the baby potatoes (sour cream is extra) and a three vegetable medley (beets, baby carrots and brussel sprouts) as well as a little cup of baby mushrooms there was also a skewer of five shrimp included. I had my steak rare and it was perfect for me. My friend had hers medium rare and hers was also perfectly to her liking. The potatoes were perfect. Not too hard or too soft. The beets were the best of the vegetable trio. Very good. The carrots were a little too firm and could have been buttered. The brussel sprouts weren't bad considering they aren't a particular favorite of mine. I love sauteed mushrooms and these were ok although had a little more seasoning than I'd prefer. The shrimp weren't overly seasoned which was nice. As luck would have it we came on "Steak & Sangria Saturday". So we each had a sangria. Both of us chose to have it with the red wine. The ingredients were exactly the same in both the red wine and white wine sangrias with one exception. The red had raspberry and the white had peach included. It was my first time having a sangria (I usually stick to rum & coke or slushy cocktails). I really enjoyed it. Finally my friend and I shared dessert. I can't remember what it was exactly but it was in a separate place on the menu from the three main desserts. It was a white cake with caramel. Caramel is a favorite that I always look for on a dessert menu over chocolate if I bother with dessert. The cake was quite good and I'm often disappointed when I end up ordering dessert so I think that says something about this cake. On the side was a large amount of whipped cream. One thing that I wasn't impressed with is that on the menu it neglected to mention that the vast amount of whipped cream would be sprinkled with cinnamon (not a favorite of mine). My friend scraped it off & it was fine but it s/h/b mentioned. Oh, and I almost forgot I ordered an appetizer of sorts in the beef barley soup. It was heaped full of fresh vegetables. I have never seen a beef barley soup like it before. The profuse amount of veggies was a nice touch but it kind of replaced the barley element in the soup. Still in all I enjoyed it but truthfully it should have been advertised as beef vegetable and not beef barley. One final note, although we went on a Saturday night (late dinner) and it is basically a restaurant/bar it was quite quiet all things considered. Final verdict: I would definitely return. read more

I don't know what people expect from a sports bar, but this is exactly what it should be like! TV's everywhere, drink specials and great food. What more could you ask for? I tried the John Candy Burger and it was AWESOME. The only drawback? I couldn't fit it all in my mouth (that's what she said). It's 2 massive patties with a bunch of other toppings, so it's no easy task for anyone. Regardless, it was delicious. Yes, the fries are McCain-style, but who cares? Are they good? Yep. I came on a Friday work after work to meet a friend. Despite looking pretty big on the outside, it's actually not that big on the inside. With a pretty big chunk closed off for a private event, I was lucky to find an empty booth. Unfortunately, the two empty tables in the place were both filthy so I had to wait for a server to clean one for me while I awkwardly stood next to it. (and then they didn't clean off the actual seats, so I had to...) The server was pretty friendly and came frequently to check in our how our drinks were, etc. The poutine I had was actually pretty okay. No cheese curds and a pretty heavy dose of gravy but it filled a craving. A lot of the food actually sounded pretty decent but was kind of pricey for what is only a small step up from fast food... but whatever, personal opinion. The drinks were really reasonable at $4 for a mug (until 7pm), on ALL the varieties. You could get a Stella or Guiness for the same price as a Canadian (so make the right choice :)). They even had Rickards White on tap, white I never see anywhere anymore. Overall, a pretty a-ok spot for an after work drink and some junk food. read more

My favorite place to go for NHL games. Food is amazing and great atmosphere. Only issue is a parking and for big games you have to come 2-3 hours in advance or at least do a reservation. First of all, the food is absolutely incredible for a pub / lounge, and the portions are very generous. If you like sandwiches, I highly recommend the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich (but make sure you get it on the beef dip bun instead of the rye bread), or sink your teeth into the John Candy burger, so awesome! Gosh darn I loves me some Brewhouse. The decore is your usual sportsy stuff, but done in a creative and fun way. Service is usually pretty decent, and It has the best pub food in any city I've ever had. Best food, best portions, best value. No matter what you order, it will consistently be a surprise. Try the Pizza; NO REALLY, TRY THE PIZZA. IT'S AMAZING. I dare say it is the best in Edmonton.
