Came here today in the early afternoon but was greeted by a banner sign saying come on up to the patio which we thought was weird but okay with no explanation why the main level was closed off by staff. The fake grass patio was nice but staff should really toss out the torn seat cushions at the other table. It's really unprofessional and looks unkept. I recently went to the Canadian Brewhouse on Remembrance Day to eat a meal for active members of the CAF - I ordered a small 2-topping pizza with pepperoni and fresh tomatoes, and a soft drink I had the pizza before at CBH, and they are great, very tasty and cheesy too. The location was full of folks, including many in the service. The restaurant was vibrant and very lively, which added to the ambiance of the place. Service was very good, fast and friendly. Terrible experience. We waited over 30 minutes for our food on a night when the restaurant was half full. When it finally arrived, the kitchen waitress literally dumped the plates on the table without cutlery, turned and left. We flagged down our table waitress and asked for cutlery and she brought 1 knife/1 fork for 2 people. Once we finally got cutlery for both of us, we tasted the food which was lukewarm and had clearly been sitting on some kitchen shelf for at least 15 minutes . The burger patty was so black and hard it was disgusting; the fries limp and tasteless. We spoke to the manager who cleared the food from our table and who offered us another opportunity to order food. We declined and she took the food off our bill. We paid for our drinks and left disappointed. We certainly will not be back. read more

My recent visit to Canadian Brew House left me with mixed feelings. While there were certainly highlights, there were some glaring issues. Let's start with the positives. The service was top-notch, with our server being attentive and knowledgeable. The food was solid, and the drinks were great - particularly the whisky maple sour, which was a standout. However, despite branding itself as a sports bar, the experience fell short in delivering on this promise. On a night filled with major sporting events, including playoff basketball and lots of baseball games, all they had one was one hockey game on the numerous screens (Leafs Bruins).The other screens were trivia. The lack of variety in sports programming was disappointing, and they didn't even have the volume from the game on, with low-volume pop music on instead. Canadian Brew House has the potential to be a great sports bar, but it's clear they need to focus more on using all the screens for sports. If you have a couple bucks on a multi sport parlay this may not be the ideal spot. read more

A little confusing to find even with Google Maps and you have to drive through a strip mall to get to it and it is hidden behind other buildings. Big parking lot but it was packed this Tuesday night. Place was spacious and tons of great TVs to watch the games. Waitress was very polite, and did not make us feel rushed. Came because through the app it said free cactus cut fries with beverage purchase 1 day only (only given 24hours notice!). Usually they are $14.99 so well worth the trip. Also Tuesday was taco night! The cactus fries were great. Not too crispy, and a ton of them. No way would I every pay $15 for potato chips but it was a great item to share between 4 people. They are not spicy like Boston Pizzas. They dip is quite bland but still creamy. Friend also ordered the steak bites - not sure they are worth $20 but they were so well cooked and the sesame sauce was so flavorful. I also tried the original beef taco and the fish taco. Original beef was very underwhelming but that's what you get for $3 taco. At least the soft shell was super moist and the same size as the more expensive tacos. Fish taco was good. Fish was well cooked and I liked the breading. Too much sauce for me. Friends tried the 3 more expensive tacos and said they were good. The chicken one comes on this weird hard shell but that made for a nice variety. Make sure to ask for sour cream and salsa if you want it!- but the tacos are already so full it was hard to add more to them! Friends got the Stanley Park Sunsetter and Okanagan on tap - both were excellent and came in frozen glasses which was extra nice. Red wine on tap (Bearpaw I think it was) was better than expected. I got an iced tea which tasted as expected. Overall not the best tacos but appropriate for the price. Freebies via the app totally worth getting the app (birthday nachos and every 2 months 1 free appetizer with beverage purchase so far). read more

Came to the Canadian Brewhouse last month with my son's hockey team for a party. There were a few hiccups in getting our party booked and then upon arrival the two servers on shift weren't expecting us. Despite our huge group, we had a great experience! Sure it took awhile to get our food and they were understaffed (as in one server for our party of 50) but the food was delicious and everyone had a great time. The Canadian Brewhouse is a sponsor for St Albert Minor Hockey Association and treated our kiddos to free pizza and pop as part of our party package. We ordered a regular nachos and medium donair pizza and hardly ate half - the portions were huge and the pizza very filling. I've previously visited the other St A location for a hockey party and that one had a few games for kiddos like foosball and a giant Rubik's cube - I didn't notice anything like that at this location. We popped in because it was sunny for only a short time and the patio looked so inviting. We were a party of 4 and we were seated right away (seat yourself). The patio is huge with a lot of places to sit and it's pretty comfortable. There's shade if that's what you want or sun. Also all tables had umbrellas unless you were on the couch areas. We had ordered a bunch of appetizers we got lasagna bites (delicious btw) and they are pretty filling and big. We also ordered dill pickle boneless wings (yum), sizzling shrimp, jalapeño popper things wrapped in bacon, deep fried pickles and Doritos wings. My other friend loves their burgers and got the Canadian Burger which she loved! All of our food came out at the same time and hot! That's what you expect and want. The lasagna bites were great. I am so surprised how big they are. These are a great appie to share and take the leftovers (which heat up great). Deep fried pickles were a hit, they were piping hot and crunchy. Dorito wings, although I didn't try one everyone agreed they were good. It's a unique item and worth the try....if you like trying fun items like that. Sizzling shrimp, sadly they were very very burnt. Our lovely sever came by and I explained that to her and she could visibly see the blackened shrimp. Swiftly she took them away, I didn't want another one made because we had so much other food to eat. The manager came over promptly and apologized said they would pay for me beer. Which I thought was really nice and was hospitable. Fast forward to when we got our bills, I thought they would only take off my beer but they also took off the shrimp. That was a nice surprise. This is your typical sports pub type restaurant with overpriced meals. I've been here two times within the last month. I normally don't care for these kinds of dining establishments however, my coworker wanted to come here for taco Tuesday. The first time I ordered the buffalo chicken poutine which was okay. I found the chicken to be way too spicy which says a lot coming from me as I can normally take spice no issue. The fries and gravy must not have been hot because my cheese didn't really melt. Friends loved their tacos aside from the chicken one which they found to be bland. Another friend also had wine which came to $30 for just 2 glasses. Terrible! I gave that experience 3/5. Today I met with a friend on our lunch break as it was close to us. There was a handful of people however it was not busy. Despite this the service was poor. We arrived exactly at noon and did not receive our food till almost 1. That is nearly one hour! Unacceptable especially because it was not full. It had also taken 20 mins for them to bring drinks to the table. The waitresses were really nice but non existent at the same time. I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich which I do not recommend. It tasted okay but the chicken was pretty dry and the toppings minimal. My fries were cold on top of that. I would've said something but it was hard since our waitress never visited our table except to clear dishes and collect the money. The dish was not worth almost $18. $14 would've been appropriate. We had 2 waitresses throughout our visit. One of them went out for a smoke and came back reeking of cigarettes. It was incredibly strong and the smell lingered around our table for a while. I have a sensitivity to cigarette smoke so this was unpleasant. There should be some kind of protocol for smokers who handle people's food. If you want to smoke that is your business and I don't care but when it affects others that is another story. There should be a 10-15 min grace period after one has had their cigarette before they can be around customers again. By the time we left it was past 1:30. Needless to say my friend and I weren't too impressed. I give this experience 2/5 and I don't think I'd come back again unless it was for a half priced special. Pub style food in a very sporty atmosphere. Walls are crammed with all kids of sports and alcohol paraphernalia. When I say crammed I mean crammed there is literally not to many areas where you can actually spot walk. The location it self is quite large and has a roof top dining area which is probably nice in the summer but not sure how great the view would be since the location is smack dab in the middle of a huge parking lot. Guess I'll have to check it out before judging. Started lunch out with the CN Caesar. It was so good. My friend is a Caesar making expert and is super picky and she really liked it as well. Canadian brew house has a very large drink menu with tons of cocktails, wine and tap beer. For lunch I shared the buffalo chicken poutine and the spinach artichoke dip. The poutine was not at all what I expected but still pretty good. There were chunks of chicken that had the typical buffalo style sauce on them but that's pretty much were the buffalo flavour ended as well. The gravy was uniquely flavoured with what my friend described as a Cajun flavour. It was oddly addictive. The spinach artichoke dip was rich and creamy. Unlike a lot of other restaurants there was a ton of artichoke in the dip. When eating with my friend she always orders these types of dips and I think that this place is one of the best of I've had. It wasn't overly salty or spicy. Also included with the usual tortilla chips they also served the dip with little slices of toasted baguette. They were literally tiny pieces of toast to put the cheesy dip on. Yum. All in all it was a positive experience. The menu is huge so lots more options to explore. So full disclosure to start with... I so wanted to hate this place. I went in expecting to hate it here, yet I can't. It's a welcome addition to St. Albert. As a rule I hate chain restaurants and bars and avoid them like the plague. I have always just lumped The Canadian Brewhouse, O2's Taphouse, Browns Social House, First Round, and Hudson's (to name a few) as same sh*t, different pile. These are places I only ever find myself at when invited to a gathering by others... never a spot I would choose to go on my own. Yet I have already been here three times since they have opened... So why the change of heart? Simply put, this is a pretty damn cool spot with a good beer selection and food that was wayyyyy better than I expected. As well, they have some very cool items decorating this place. Our first venture here was about a week after they opened. Heather and I were caught in the chaos of Christmas shopping and prep and while running to Superstore Liquor she suggested we take a break and grab a drink at the new spot in town next door. We did, and had a couple of fantastic Caesars (we consider ourselves somewhat of Caesar snobs so I think our opinion should be good) and an order of onion rings to nibble on as a snack. So let me say for the record, the onion rings orders here are MASSIVE and they are delicious. The jalapeno ranch they serve them with is amazing as well. While on our first visit I learned that they do a FREE Oilers gameday bus from all locations. My previous two visits have been to take in a beer and a bite before heading off to the Oilers game. I have fallen in love with the Tzatziki Greek Wrap (with a side of onion rings of course). There is always a good drink special (Heather took advantage of the Thursday wine specials before a game) and the tankards are awesome. The portions here are sizeable, other people ordering poutine, pizzas and burgers all had amazing looking meals. The first two times we came here we had a seat at the bar. My only complaint at this place would be that the service at the bar can be a bit dicey. Maybe chalk it up to being a new business but confusion seems to be in abundance when trying to be served at the bar. You never really know who your server is as the lady who introduced herself both times was never seen from again until the bill came. And getting a bill was a challenge both times. The third time we sat at a table and the service was fantastic. We will go that route on future visits. They have a great looking patio up top that will be a great St. Albert summer addition. I was admittedly wrong on dismissing this spot when I heard it was opening in St. Albert... there's a reason they are a successful chain, they are doing a lot of things right. read more

I love the brew house. My husband and I came to this location before seeing a movie. We sat on their balcony. The balcony was nice. ( heaters for the colder days) The downfall. A few wasps kept bugging us the whole time we sat up there. Not really much you can do about wasps when there's food. The food was good. I normally eat the same thing when I come to all brewhouses. (The chicken quesadilla. It was a little burnt around the edges. But other then that it was good. The fries.... not happy with the brewhouses choice in changing their fries to crappy skinny McDonald type fries. Why have cheap fries at a good place to eat. It took us a while to get our food. We were almost late for our movie. But we have ourselves about an hour and a half thinking it would be enough time. The waitress was friendly. read more

Would have preferred to read a sign before entering the restaurant that there were supplier issues and not everything listed on the menu was available before having an order being taken. Under normal circumstances TCB has been a decent option to go to for gluten-free menu options, however on this visit after the first order had to be changed because they did not have gluten-free tartar sauce for the fish and chips, a new order was placed for a gluten-free pizza. After another delay, the manager came to tell me the bad news that there was no gluten-free pizza crusts available. This was at the 42 minute mark since the original order had been placed. It's unfortunate that it took so long to find out that 2 gluten-free options were not available and that their online menu was not updated to reflect what options were available. As we had already been delayed, we had to leave without any lunch. The manager did apologize and attempted to try to get me to order something else but let's face it, I had severe doubts that any other gluten-free options were going to be available after already having 2 options be unavailable. I appreciate that they understood the importance of having a gluten-free option available but if they are having supplier issues, there is no excuse not to have a sign up indicating so for customers or updating the online menu to reflect item not available. The manager attempted to make it better but really after 2 failed attempts I was beyond disappointed, past the point of hunger and left in tears. Silly I know but when you have no choice but have to deal with gluten-free every day of your life, it can be difficult at times to find a restaurant with options that you are confident in that will not be contaminated or cause you stomach pain. Well I decided to give the brew house in St. Albert a try. I first walked in to a half full bar. As I n walked up and found an open booth. The table was stained with grease and crumbs from the previous people who were seated there. A waitress quickly came up to take my order. Only for me to wait and wait. Then another different waitress came with my drink order to the table. When the rest of my table showed up we were greeted by yet another server? She at least was prompt with our drink orders. Which made up somewhat for the experience we were having thus far. The food was good. Usually most chain restaurants have similar standards. This was the case here. Not sure however for the amount of staff on that the service is similar to what I've seen in other locations. read more

It was time for the annual football draft with me and bunch of my friends. I booked the reservation online and noted it was for our draft. It was booked for a Tuesday at 6:30pm. Three of us arrived at about 6:15pm. The hostess asked if we had a reservation and I said we did. There wasn't a table put aside but it didn't really matter since it was almost empty in the restaurant. We sat down and began to wait for the rest of our party to come. After a few minutes, a server came over to tell us about the drink specials. We ordered a couple of drinks and said we were waiting for a few others. The server came back as the rest of my party was coming and dropped off the three drinks. At the same time, I ordered my food. The server heard my order, then turned around and left. This left one of my friends sitting there wondering why she didn't take his order. Over the next 15 or so minutes, the rest of the group arrived. We sat and waited. And waited. And waited. A manager came over and dropped my fries. I asked for some ketchup and was told it would be a few minutes. The manager said that the server was really busy but would be by in a couple of minutes. The manager then came back with the ketchup but still didn't take anyone else's order. We waited another 10 minutes before I got frustrated and walked up to our server to say we had 8 people who wanted to order. She looked up at me and told me to wait a few minutes. I mean, WTF? Anyways, the server eventually came over to the table to take some orders. However, by this point (around 7:00pm) most of the group had decided not to order anything. Why support a company that doesn't want to provide a basic level of service. Only guy ordered some chicken fingers and a few beers were ordered. All the while, the restaurant had cleared out. There may have been four of five tables of patrons and it looked like our server was helping all of the tables. However, she spent most of her time chatting with a group at a 4-top table. I think she must have been friends with them since she just stood there talking to them for most of their time there. The chicken fingers were dropped off but were not hot (lukewarm, at best). The server then only came by every 20 minutes or so but didn't really ask if we needed refills or more drinks. The table was frustrated and so we had decided to finish up and leave. We waited and waited for our tabs. I finally had to go up to the bar to ask the server to bring our bills. She was not pleasant at all when presenting the bills and didn't even thank one person. She presented the visa terminal to one person and when he was done she just said "gimme the machine, i can't reach that far". Why not come around the table a bit? We all stood up and just looked at one another as if to ask what had just happened. As we walked out, we all noted that we would never be going to this location again. Absolutely terrible. When I got home, I went to the website and clicked on the FEEDBACK link. The link takes you to a third party site offering a free appetizer if you provide some feedback. I entered the feedback and then never heard anything back. I did however, get the free appetizer. Thankfully, it can be used at any location. I've had an issue with any other Brewhouse so I'd go back to another location, just not the St Albert location. Oh, and online (Twitter and Facebook) the Brewhouse social media pages said that if you booked your draft at their locations there would be special offers and discounts for those who attended. Not surprisingly, the server didn't mention anything at all about the offers. Part of me blames management for being short staffed and leaving the server on her own. But the server could have explained the situation and asked for some patience. However, she did nothing at all to help us understand her situation thus losing any sympathy we might have had. The Canadian Brewhouse is a large establishment that draws in a diverse crowd in every age group. The food is alright at best. The menu has a ton of items but because of this, not all menu items are constantly available. For example, we had free item from the Rewards app and the waitress told us they don't have any which seemed peculiar for a Friday evening around 7 PM. Additionally, we ordered a meatza pizza and it came out cold in the middle. When the waitress finally came to check on our table and we informed her of the issue she asked why we didn't notify her sooner. That was frustrating since she didn't come by to check on us for 20 mins or longer after getting our food. Anyways, she took the pizza and put it back in the heater for us (which probably isn't the most sanitary thing for a resturant). Our bill that night was full price and we were fairly disappointed. I would not recommend ordering that type of pizza. Another tip of advice for future patrons is to be mindful of The Brewhouse's strategic marketing tactics. They advertise drink specials on the TVs but the specials are only for certain nights which is disclosed in the fine print. This is very deceiving as you see an advertisement for a shot for a certain price then get your bill and realize you're paying full price. Overall, I would never go out of my way to go to the brewhouse. The service is mediocre, the place is usually empty and the price is fairly high for the quality. read more

Typical sports type pub, but has a great huge rooftop patio. Perfect on a beautiful day to chill and have a cold drink. And as it gets darker and a bit colder they do have huge overhead heaters. I just had the nachos and they are nice size to share between 3-4 people but gets pricey as you add on beef or chicken and even for guacamole. Fridays they do have Coors Banquet in tankard size for $7.99. i don't know if I would come here for a meal, since there are better options out there for price wise, but it seems like a great place to watch some sports or catch up with friends over some drinks. read more

Went in on Monday night and it was amazing. Had been to one Brewhouse before a few years ago on the south end of Edmonton and it was very bad experience. However this experience was the complete opposite. They have stepped up their game with their table buttons, our waitress (jacy) was there within 2 minutes after we used the button. Met the manager who was super down to earth and not "in our face/showoff" like most upper management seem to be in this business. St. Albert has needed this and we will be back in the future as we didn't stay for the karaoke. Also super great location. read more

Very busy for a cold Wednesday night, but to be expected for the 'new place' in town. Great decor and I love that there are so many TVs for watching the game. We will make use of the roof top patio in the summer! We loved the shuffle board table and the giant pac-man game, we will have to come back to have a couple games. Our server was definitely new, but did her best. It was wings night so the majority of our group ordered wings. The wings could be better, but were not terrible. The John candy burger was excellent I was told, and a huge serving. Someone in our group also had a wrap and the server was accommodating in adding chicken. The food is really terrible. Consistently! I love the patio so much though so I have kept going back. 3 for 3 bad food experiences have finally turned me away. The first bad food experience was about a month ago and I had the shepherds pie. The meal was so salty I couldn't even eat it without it burning my lips. I didn't eat it and the waitress removed it from my bill since I had barely touched it. The second bad experience was last Thursday night. My friend and I went for shrimp for $6.99 so we each ordered two orders of naked shrimp with wing flavors. The waitress brought us tempura battered shrimp. When we told her we asked for naked shrimp she huffed and puffed like we'd messed up. She corrected the mistake thankfully. When I asked for a cup of tea she made a big production about having to go "all the way downstairs" to get it (?). Finally the third and final straw was Friday night when my husband and I went for prime rib. We couldn't get a table on the rooftop so we're seated inside. I ordered a dark rum and Diet Coke and some pale looking beverage the color of iced tea arrived. Bitter and not rum. Strike one. They replaced it so corrected the error. Too much lime juice? The waitress said. Don't think so but okay...We then ordered onion rings as an appetizer and they arrived burned. Strike two. We both had the prime rib. I had no potato just vegetables. The beans and red peppers were RAW! The beans were hard as rock. The sauce on the prime rib was so hot it was inedible. I scraped it off the best I could so I could eat my meat but I didn't eat the veggies. The waitress noticed we didn't eat the onion rings and wondered if we wanted to take them home. When we said no she offered to speak to the manager about removing them from our bill. My husband ordered the donut poutine to go. While we were waiting for the dessert the manager came over and offered to remove the onion rings from our bill. We had paid our bill already and my husband had left a $12 tip and the waitress did not bring him the refund. I can only assume she gave herself an even better tip! $22.00 at least for bad food. Not bad. Strike 3 and done. So sad because I really love their patio but I will spend my money somewhere where the food is better and the patio isn't as nice but adequate. I am kinda sad. I have stopped patronizing the Canadian Brewhouse as I was asked to leave because I was told I had to buy food. My girlfriends and I came here tonight for a some drinks and didn't realized that the football draft was on. We found it pretty loud and can barely heard each other's conversations. Food is mediocre. Drinks were not too bad. I ordered the buffalo chicken poutine and it was cold. I guess it's what I expect for pub food. Service was ok. read more

Horrible experience yesterday, was met at the door by a rude and loud host, a bunch of people waiting at the door even left, wanted to speak to a manager but turned out it was the man at the door Brandon We weren't the only ones turned off by his unprofessionalism and attitude. Ordered some food for take out, initially there was an error with it not being gluten free but when i had called, they were very quick to fix the error. A staff member personally delivered a new order as well as credited the previous order. I have never experienced such good customer service. Will definitely be coming back! read more
