Went there for a Thursday dinner on a whim. Had never been there before. The decor was just ok. Personally I like capital grill or even Morton's better. The waiter greeted me and brought water and a loaf of bread. The bread itself was mediocre although the butter was good. After some time I decided to go with the Ruth's classics which was a prix fixe meal with a salad or soup, an entree and a small dessert. I went with the French onion soup to start with. It was fine although surprisingly peppery which I'd never had with French onion before. Morton's still has the best imho. The one thing I will say is they gave the biggest portion of any of the fine dining restaurants I've had. For the entree I upgraded to the 16oz ribeye. It normally comes with shrimp as well but as I'm not a fan I just said to keep them. The steak was alright, nothing special. It was seasoned pretty well but wasn't a great cut. I'd say much closer to choice than prime which for a high end restaurant was pretty disappointing. I consistently get higher quality cuts at Longhorn. I ordered medium but should have ordered medium rare since it comes on a 500 degree plate and kept cooking. By the time I was done it was well into medium well territory. I might advise getting the doneness below what you actually want. It came with a choice of sides and I chose mashed potatoes. They were very mediocre. In fact they were probably the weakest point of the whole meal. I ended up boxing them up to see if I could improve them at home. For dessert they brought a small cheese cake with a raspberry sauce and mixed berries. Honestly the highlight of the meal. The texture was velvety but still firm and the berries were perfectly ripe. The size itself was small but I was completely satisfied with it after the meal. I got their carrot cake to go. The carrot cake was fine, again nothing special. The palm and even outback has superior ones I think. The subtotal was 114$. The ribeye upgrade was 25$ by itself and the carrot cake was 15$. Overall the meal was ok but I was expecting so much more for 114$ when I can get one just as good or usually better at any mid tier. I probably won't be back again when there's much better places for much cheaper I can go to. Atleast I can say I tried it now though. read more

My friends and I dined here for my birthday in March after leaving a nearby restaurant that failed to meet my expectations. This was my first time visiting Ruth's Chris, but I had always heard great things about the restaurant. When we got to our table, they had confetti and a card waiting for me. I felt welcomed and really appreciated the gesture. The restaurant was pretty empty due to Lent but the ambiance was amazing and the music choice was 10/10. The food was amazing and everything was cooked perfectly. I got the chicken and it did not disappoint. We all got something from the bar and we were very pleased. The crème brûlée was the best I'd ever tasted at any restaurant I've visited. They also provided a birthday dessert that was pretty good. Our server, Mason, was AMAZING. Some of the best service I've ever had a restaurant. He was hospitable, engaging, and upbeat. He got all of our orders correct and checked in on us to make sure we were satisfied. The server assistant, Sergio, was also very kind and attentive. Last but not least, the manager, Bill, was just as kind and welcoming. Not only did they provide stellar service in general, they did so on very short notice. Bill and his team did an excellent job and I will be returning to this location in the future because of all their efforts. Excellent Food and Customer Service! What can I say! Our recent experience with Ruth's Chris at this location was an 11/10! We booked a private room for our son's 16th birthday a few months ago and the special day was Friday. Scott, the assistant general manager, was more than accommodating and very pleasant to work with from the time we arrived early to setup decorations til dinner time. He personally appeared twice to make sure things were ok. Our servers, Mason and (can't remember her name, but she was African American) were on top of it. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we will be back for sure. This review is for their happy hour at the bar. Small menu offered for happy hour but I think they were curated nicely. We ordered the cheeseburger, steak burger, old fashioned drink and lemon drop drink. All items from the happy hour menu. The cheeseburger came with hand cut fries and was the highlight for me. The beef patty was cooked to perfection. The steak sandwich also came with hand cut fries. The added touch of garlic bread for the bun was very good as well. Drinks were strong and had great flavor. Let me preface that I really wanted to like Ruth's Chris. Nothing excites me more than trying a restaurant for the first time, so I've decided to dine in for happy hour on a Tuesday before watching a film at Fairfax Corner. It was exciting to try something new since I've eaten everywhere else in Fairfax Corner and have yet to visit Ruth's Chris until tonight. We started with hand-crafted cocktails and a seared ahi-tuna appetizer to share along with Ruth's cheeseburger (sub fries for salad) and steak sandwich (sub fries for zucchini fries). The seared ahi-tuna was good along with a side of pickled vegetables, however, the main entrees took about an hour to come out. Unfortunately, as soon as the entrees arrived, we only had time to take a few bites of our meal and had to put the rest in a to-go box. Again, I really wanted to go to Ruth's Chris and entertained the idea that maybe I could start becoming a "regular" since it's close to work. Would I go out of my way to go there? No, and in fact, my dinner guest suggested that we could eat a quick dinner at Chipotle before I suggested Ruth's Chris. My weakness is excellent food at upscale/classy restaurants (paired with great service) and I had the impression that Ruth's Chris Steak House fit the mold. I'm disappointed with tonight's service since I had high expectations since I believed that the quality of Ruth's Chris brand was stellar though regrettably, we should have went to Chipotle instead. read more

Celebrating my birthday, my wife, daughter, and I reserved a table on a quiet Monday evening. The staff thoughtfully decorated our table with birthday confetti and a signed card. Our server greeted us and explained the menu and their 500°F plates. We ordered a 2015 Rioja off their extensive wine list. A little north of $100 a bottle, it was pretty good and held up well with our steaks. We started with the seared ahi tuna appetizers. My wife didn't like the mustard sauce, but I found it enjoyable. The portion was generous, and I liked the cucumber garnish that accompanied it. My daughter and I went big and ordered the 40oz tomahawk steak to share. This huge steak comes with a Fred Flintstone-sized bone sticking out about a foot in length. The on-duty manager comes by, explains the different areas of the steak, and cuts it up for you. My wife went with a petite filet and lobster tail. The meat from the tail is removed and placed on the shell for easy eating. For sides, we got creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Our medium rare steaks came out much too rare for our liking, and we had them sent back to be "brought up." The staff were very pleasant about this and had them back to us in five minutes cooked as we liked. We could only finish half of the tomahawk and took half home, along with the bone for our neighbor's dog. We couldn't even finish the yummy sides and took them home. Service was attentive and fine but not memorable. It can be hit or miss with servers, and this was a bit of a miss. It didn't put a damper on our evening, and we still enjoyed our meal. read more

I visited Ruth's Steak House on a Monday evening, we were the only people dining, which wasn't too surprising for the start of the week. The restaurant itself felt very plain I wouldn't say the decor was anything special. The steak itself was the highlight of the meal. It was cooked perfectly, very juicy, and full of flavor which is what you'd expect from a steakhouse at this level. Unfortunately, the sides didn't live up to the same standard. The mac and cheese lacked flavor and honestly felt like I could've made from a kraft box. The mashed potatoes were also pretty underwhelming and nothing to rave about. I will say our server was wonderful--attentive, friendly, and made the experience more enjoyable. Well, I made reservations to celebrate a promotion which I documented on my reservation. We arrived a little early, 4:45 for a 5:00 reservation, on a Thursday to find only one other table seated. We were seated quickly to our choice of table. I was sad to NOT see the little celebratory card and well wishes on the table for the promotion as other reserved tables had for other events, but, it's okay. Our server, Bahdi, was great and attentive, almost too attentive. The Flower Pino Noir wine was his recommendation and it was on point. The pomegranate martini?? Very nice!!! Bartender was killing it! The bread? Delicious!!! Soft inside with a very pleasant, crispy crust. The spicy shrimp appetizer was truly appreciated, well cooked with nice sized shrimp, served with a fresh vegetable garnish, with a fresh marinade. The sides are built for two. The salad was fresh, crisp, and tasty. The sweet potato casserole was very good with a crunchy topping and the brussell sprouts were seasoned well and cooked crispy. The Filets!!!! One medium well with a nice pink color, tender, seasoned....Noice!!!! The other butterflied and cooked well done!! Not scorched!! Did I say well done and not scorched about a steak?!?! Yes, yes I did!! Thank you!! The service was great! The food was great! The bill was great! But somehow, I didn't mind paying for it as we were served a superb meal! We decided to come to this Ruth's Chris to celebrate our anniversary. When we made our reservation we let them know in the "special request" section that it was our anniversary. We arrived 15 minutes early and the staff at the host station were able to seat us immediately. As we walked in the dining room, it looked like we were going to be seated in an area where few tables were occupied. My first thought, as we were heading there was "Oh great. They'll seat us then forget about us." Well...I couldn't have been more wrong. We were lead to a booth that had a card that said "happy anniversary" that was signed by the staff. Plus there were rose petals on the table as well as some confetti in the form of hearts, lips and pieces that said "happy anniversary". Not only was I surprised but I was truly touched. We've never had a restaurant do that in the past when it was our anniversary. Our server was prompt getting to us and wishing us "happy anniversary". Service from start to finish was impeccable. We started with drinks. I had a blueberry mojito---and it was awesome with great blueberry flavor enhanced by the muddled ones in the glass. My husband had a glass of Malbec which he said was of good quality. For the first course, I had lobster bisque. Sadly, it was a disappointment. It was very thin with not much lobster in it plus it was bitter. There wasn't even a hint of sherry. Having had this in the past at other Ruth's Chris, I knew it should have been better. Ironically, they usually are heavy handed with the sherry. My husband had a "steak salad" which he enjoyed and it was attractively presented. Our server let us know of some items that weren't on the menu but were available that night. We ordered one of the items as a side dish, "hash brown" potatoes. While, for the most part, save a very small section that got overdone, we mostly liked it even though it lacked any salt. I put my portion on my dinner plate and used the steak juice to give seasoning to the potatoes. The second side we had was grilled asparagus with Hollandaise sauce. The Hollandaise, although thicker than average, was well prepared---same for the asparagus. We both got the "petit filet", which was 8 oz., for our main course. Both of us ordered it medium rare. Although each steak had some sections that were more rare, we didn't mind. It was an excellent cut of meat that was tender and flavorful. Due to it being our anniversary, dessert was on the house which amounted to one dessert item of our choice. We chose creme brulee which was perfectly done. Underneath the caramelized crust was a thick and creamy custard flavored with vanilla. It went so well with the pieces of fresh fruit that accompanied it. My husband had an espresso that he really enjoyed. I would say the service alone was 5 star worthy. If the lobster bisque and the hash browns were prepared better, I would have given them 5 stars. And, yes we would come back here again for future celebration. read more

The service at this location is absolutely stunning. The steaks are basic and there is nothing wrong with that. The right amount of salt and pepper, with generous amounts of butter, and cooked medium rare with the red center, makes the best steak. I've been here several times for private events. Service and food was on point each time. This time my friend ordered her filet medium rare. We were at a private event and sadly, the filet arrived well done. They took it back with no problems, as they should, but also gave her another lobster tail on the house. The steak arrived on a sizzling hot plate, as it should be, and it tasted just amazing. I have been a client of this fine steakhouse for a very long time, and always have very good experiences. Unfortunately, this past Thanksgiving, since I was going to be out of town, I bought my elderly parents a gift certificate, card for them to have dinner at the Ruth Chris Fair Oaks location and it was a very bad experience. They were seated right away as they had made a reservation, and drinks came out quite fast. But unfortunately, the food took over an hour to come out. I completely understand, staff shortages, but for restaurant chain as large as this one, they should know better as to manage capacity and expectations based on staffing. One usually associates quality and brand with great service... Unfortunately this time things didn't work out the way I wanted and it ended up being a very stressful situation for my parents. My parents were very complementary of the staff, and how apologetic everybody was as clearly it was not their fault. I just hope this message gets to the right people to avoid future experiences like this one. read more

My family went to. Ruth Chris last night for a celebration and wow is all I can say. The ambiance, service and food were impeccable. A few of us ordered the pre-fixed menu and I think that was a great way to go. I had the Caesar Salad, petite filet and lobster and the chocolate cake. Each dish was better than the last. Ruth's Chris is always a safe bet for good steak and food. It was the first time we've been to this location and the host was super sweet and seated us right away for our reservation. The food was great as per usual but I'm saddened to say I was displeased with our server, Mason. The first thing that bugged me was that when we were ordering our food, I guess he was displeased with the order of the food we said? We ordered 2 ribeyes both mid-rare, a filet mid-rare, spicy shrimp, 2 caesars and a few sides. He kept interrupting us by saying "so 1 ribeye here, one filet here, another ribeye, etc etc" I get that you might have to remember what each person got but it's only four people and we're sharing all the salads and sides so really don't understand what the fuss is. He curtly responded with "I NEED to know who gets what". My biggest issue with Mason however, was that as we were eating, we noticed that while my filet and my husbands ribeye were cooked a perfect medium rare, my mothers was extremely rare in the middle. I'm not saying a little undercooked, I'm saying blue. Like there were white lines of fat. When we called Mason over he apologizes but says "So she wants it medium?" I look at the steak and I proceed to repeat myself and say "It's too rare for her" to which he repeats himself and says "So she wants it medium." Listen, I've been to at least 50 steakhouses, every single one we get a medium rare steaks. And if he says that what she wants is medium, that means the rest of our steaks would be considered medium and not medium rare. The logic was just not making sense. And instead of just listening to the customer, he couldn't take our complaint as it was and continued to try to correct me. I wish I could've taken a picture of it before it got sent back because it was not what a medium rare steak is according to their definition. "warm red center with dark pink edges." The steak was just missing its hooves. overall, these two interactions alone just rubbed me the wrong way. Either you don't know what a medium rare is or you acknowledge that your chef overcooked two steaks and undercooked one all belonging to the same table, which is highly unlikely read more

We've been here a few different times. On our most recent visit they also had a holiday meal to pick from, which someone at our table ordered. The turkey from the holiday meal was cooked tender and the sweet potatoes were perfect. I wish that I had ordered it too! The sweet potatoes should honestly go on the permanent menu, they were fantastic! I got the steak and lobster tail. The steak was very chewy, so I couldn't end up eating it. I just gave it to someone else at the table who didn't mind the texture, but the lobster was good. Crab cakes were also very tasty. Crème brûlée was great. Everyone had good drinks, bread, and side dishes. The service was slow and I waited at least 20 minutes to get my drink lol, but I understand they were busy. It was a good experience overall, and I'd recommend it if you want to treat yourself. I probably wouldn't order the steak again, but all the other food was great. read more

It was honestly one of the best steaks I've ever had. The casserole was yummy (loved the crust on top) and my husband enjoyed his steak. A loaf of warm bread with whipped butter also came out before our entrees which was really good. For dessert, my husband got the crème brûlée which was complimentary! I came here with my Father for my birthday and I had an enjoyable time. The staff were so nice it really almost brought me to tears. They provided me with a card and even though I did not want a dessert(I was so full, haha), they still made me a happy birthday plate which was cute! The food here is so good and I really love the lobster mac and cheese, the mashed potatoes, creamed spinach the stuffed chicken breast, the crab cakes! My Dad also got the ribeye which he enjoyed. Actually came here during restaurant week for the three course meal deal. The restaurant had a very classy feel to it and I felt so under dressed since I came straight from work/hospital. There was a reservation made ahead of time so the wait was little. The hostess took us to our table and we were greeted by the server. I forgot his name, but he was knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. The food here was wow, yummy. The salad tasted fresh, the meat was super tender and dessert was super satisfying. The server warned us about the hot plates for the entree as they heat the meat at 1800° Fahrenheit and serve them on ceramic plates heated to 500°. I think the best part about the dinner was the quality of meat. It really melted in my mouth. Fun fact: There was a jumping spider right next to my head where I was sitting. I told the employee about it and without any alarm, they took care of it without any violence. I received apologies from other people about the incident.
