The steaks cut like butter, perfectly seasoned and could taste the char on the edges !!! We weren't told at reservation that only a $55 brunch menu would be served, we assumed normal breakfast or lunch menu would be available for brunch at 10. We were in dining room with the loudest waiter on earth serving a nearby table who would walk around the dining room carrying on loud conversation with his one table. We ran out of water and waited 15 minutes before anyone noticed. The menu said a "blueberry bread basket" was the starter. It was just a bunch of rolls with a couple of pieces of blueberry bread squished on the bottom. The starter salads were bland but the 2 who got the salmon & avocado toast enjoyed that. 5 of our party of 7 got steaks - 3 ordered medium and 2 ordered medium rare but all 5 came medium rare. To try and make this brunch the steaks had a fried egg on top but everything lacked seasoning, eggs & steaks were lukewarm and asparagus was cold. When we did get served food or refills of water or mimosas they were slammed on table near you, not even at your place setting. A busy restaurant when there are shows playing across the street. I tried to get a reservation the night prior and was unsuccessful. Fortunately, I had back to back shows at different theaters and was able to get into this location with a group of six. It's a couple minutes walk from each of the theaters to enjoy a meal before/after and not too bad of a walk in the winter season for my aging parents who have difficulty walking. It seemed the nearby hotel might offer valet parking otherwise we left our car with the theater valet service. We were seated after a few minutes of arrival at a circular table that proved convenient for socializing with one another. Given that we went to dinner after the show, we had plenty of time to order and enjoy our meal. Marko, our server was aware of the theaters and had asked how much time we had to ensure we weren't late for anything. It took us a minute to order but everyone got their orders in and received their food without issue. I had a steak that was cooked to perfection and we ordered several sides to share at the table. Everyone was pleasantly surprised with their meal including my mom who if something could go wrong with her order, will go wrong. She raved about the lobster bisque soup she had and the chunks of lobster to where I continued to hear about it the next day. She said she would return just to have the lobster bisque soup. This was highly unusual to hear my mom pleased with a restaurant experience. lol. All was well until my dad swallowed too large of a piece of steak and it somehow was stuck in his stomach to the point he was uncomfortable. I took him to the bathroom to see if we could help him feel better but ended up leaving the restaurant and heading to the ER for evaluation. The ER gave him some dark soda to burp it up...if you ever have a similar experience. While all this was going on while we were in the bathroom, and the others were finishing their meal and waiting on us, the service team came in to check on us periodically and offer assistance. Marko and the service team were amazing. I felt bad for causing additional stress on them and hoped we didn't cause too much of an impact. My meal for what I was able to enjoy while trying to care for my dad was wonderful, and I look forward to the next opportunity to return under better circumstances. read more

Our favorite downtown spot for breakfast! My husband had the sausage egg and cheese sandwich with brioche toast, toasted bread. It was serve served with crispy piping hot potatoes fresh from the skillet. My eggs Benedict were gorgeous and cooked to perfection. The host at the door was gracious and warm. The only so-so was the coffee. I'm not sure of the machine was on the fritz ( i was only given one refill the entire time, so maybe they knew something was up?) but it was dark and muddy and tasted burned. The creamer was generous, which I appreciated, but it didn't mask the off-ness of the coffee itself. Loved the mug and saucer it was served in though. Best Customer Service I've had in a while. There was a conference downtown so the restaurant was packed but they managed to make me feel like I was the only customer. I went for the Wagyu and Wine special they were running which was held in the lounge but since it was so packed I was set at a booth. I ordered the wagyu mushroom & Swiss burger medium accompanied by the the Orin Swift Zinfandel blend. The burger and wine were both delicious . The burger was served with fries. For the inconvenience of the crowd which was really no inconvenience at all I was given dessert, the capital grille cheesecake. The cheesecake came brulee style with fresh berries. Came here for a girls night out and did the Wagyu & Wine parting! Our server Jordan was ABSOLUTELY fantastic some of the best service I've had in a very long time. We started off with caviar and chips as my friend had never had caviar and it was a hit! Next we had the burger which we both chose the grille Wagyu cheeseburger which was very good! Perfectly seasoned and a juicy patty! We both upgraded to truffle fries and enjoyed those as well! Alsoooo the bread basket is out of this world amazing. We were staying at the Conrad, we had planned to go to another restaurant but due to a cold rainy evening we decided to "stay in" and visit the adjoining restaurant which is The Capital Grille. We were so pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely amazing. We started with the shrimp cocktail, I loved how they presented it and allowed for extra horseradish to adjust to our liking. I like mine extremely hot and my husband does not so that was perfect. Caesar salad was very good. I had the seared tenderloin medallions with lobster tails. I loved this dish. Simple yet impressive. My husband had filet mignon and we shared the au gratin potatoes. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere. They could dial the recessed lighting down a bit to make it a bit cozier/more romantic and highlight the ambient lighting from their gorgeous chandeliers but I understand some people like a bit brighter lighting. Regardless it still offers a nice ambiance. Our server Mitch was fantastic. He was professional, attentive, light hearted with a lovely personality and a million watt smile. Our chef was Caitlyn, I believe. And she did an exceptional job. Our date night last evening wasn't as we had planned but was unexpectedly more pleasant than we had hoped. We were there to celebrate our 32nd Anniversary, and thd host led us to our table, in a very cozy part of the restaurant, and the table was adorned with a long stem rose, a couple other roses, heart shaped glitter, and a nice Card from the staff, so everything started great. Andy our server was terrific. He was polite, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely seemed to enjoy his work. We listened to him talk about the appetizers, sides and entrees, and took his word on a couple items, and so glad we did. We had French Onion and Lobster Bisque, and both were great. My wife had a filet and i had a Porcini rubbed bone-in rib-eye, that was huge. Both steaks were flavorful, cooked perfectly, and just plain melted in your mouth. We ordered enough to need boxes to take home.....and then they brought us out a dessert plate on the house to add to our celebration. As we were leaving, even couples at other tables congratulated us on our Anniversary. This place really sets the standard. Oh, and the Black Tie Margarita? True five star service and food at The Capital Grill. It is a special treat to make the trip downtown and spend an evening for dinner. It was a rainy, chilly night and the warm dining room with classic art was inviting. We had made reservations several weeks ago, anticipating a full house. We were cheerfully greeted by several hosts and seated under a portrait of Madam Walker in a quiet room. Jay, our server was great, attentive, friendly and Jayden kept our water glasses full with a smile. Jay told us about the wonderful specials, but we opted to try out the Devour menu. First, the bread basket is out of this world with assorted freshly made breads, rolls and crackers. I had a martini that was perfectly prepared. We started with the Wedge with Blue Cheese and Smoked Bacon salad, which was covered with heirloom cherry tomatoes and small chunks of bacon. I also had a cup of their clam chowder which as fresh and warm. I had the Roasted Chicken Breast which was a generous portion of roasted chicken atop a bed of creamy risotto in a sherry jus. My husband had the Filet Mignon which he said was delicious and perfectly prepared. The creamed spinach has a hint of nutmeg and the mashed potato side sticks to your ribs. I topped off dinner with the Flourless, Chocolate Expresso Cake which was small but packed with flavor. Upon arrival, we were taken to a table with heart confetti and a handwritten note signed by the staff, which was very special and unexpected! We had multiple staff members congratulate us on our anniversary throughout the dinner, which was very sweet. Our server, Derrick, was wonderful and made the experience really great. We started off with the bread, French onion soup and a wedge salad. Everything was DELICIOUS, and I was full before our main course even arrived! Then we split the NY strip steak, mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My son and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Indianapolis to attend a Colts/Raiders football game. During a conversation with a very nice reservation specialist at the Hyatt Regency, seeking recommendations for the best steak dinner in Indy, the Capital Grille was highly suggested. We said "No" and explained to the welcoming staff at the Capital Grille that we had just arrived in Indianapolis and had just received a recommendation from a kind individual at the Hyatt. The very courteous Capital Grille staff warmly welcomed us, and then, a truly exceptional experience unfolded. My son and I received customer service that exceeded all expectations, surpassing the standard of a five-star rating. We were treated with utmost care and attention, as if we were royalty, by a remarkable lady named Marija. Furthermore, the ribeye steak meals we enjoyed were so awesome that I am already planning a return visit next year. Although our Raiders were defeated, my son and I considered our experience a victory. Buyer beware!!!!' The Generous Pour is no longer nearly as generous. Not only did they increase the price of the Pour again this year, but for the first time since they introduced the program so many many years ago, they are now limiting their pours. The term Generous is now at best misleading and at worst an intentional bait and switch. It would be different if this change was disclosed anywhere in advance of your visit. However, it appears nowhere online, in any of their email marketing or even on the printed wine list you're given to promote the Pour in restaurant. This is a perfect example of pure corporate greed at its finest. If you weren't already paying top dollar for a fine dining experience, that would be one thing, but to take advantage of loyal customers who have participated in this program faithfully for years is simply inexcusable. read more

First time here! We always try a new place for our anniversary and make sure to tell them when you make the reservation. They have valet parking!! Fabulous! We made sure to get a reservation and got there a bit early so we sat in the hotel lobby for a bit. Incredibly beautiful and relaxing. The host came to get us when our table was ready and it came complete with heart confetti and a happy anniversary card from staff. It is a nice touch. Our server was Carter. He was incredibly knowledgeable and described the dishes in such detail you could almost taste it. He spent the time talking to us and making us feel very welcome. The ambience is elegant and the staff is exceptional. Now for the food. First I had the black tie margarita which was perfect and served in a chilled metal wine glass. Oysters on the half shell with cocktail sauce you get to make yourself. Lobsters bisque with big meaty chunks. Creamy sauce with a nice dry sherry added. Caesar salad with crisp romaine. For dinner we had South African lobster tails, Waygu steak, and au gratin potatoes. Unbelievably delicious. Tender lobster. Thick perfectly cooked steak. Potatoes seasoned like heaven. They brought us complimentary desserts which we had boxed up to go. Finally, Carter had our car brought around for us and it was ready and waiting when we walked out. We had a fantastic dinner here during GenCon last weekend. We got a lovely quiet corner table in the back and got away from the crush of people in Indy for the event. We started with the black tie margarita and in fashion. Both were nice cocktails though my wife thought the margarita was on the sweeter side. We just went straight to mains--tenderloin with lobster and the 10oz filet with some creamed spinach and two glasses of freemark abbey cab. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The lobster had tarragon in it which is a classic pairing but it would have been great if that surf and turf had come on two plates or in a way to maybe separate the sauce/butter from the lobster from the steak. We started with the famous bread basket and salted butter. Always so good and a perfect way to start the dining experience. We ordered the Lobster and Crab Cakes ($23). These are so good and love that corn garnish that comes with it. For Dinner, I did have an issue with the server who brought out the steaks and food. We were missing the Spinach and when I asked about it, he snarled and snipped in a tone and said "I only have two hands". He could have just said it's on its way. There was a direct arrogance with his reply that did not set well with me. Took me off guard and I sheepishly and embarrassingly apologized. I should have said something but it was a celebration so I just had to let it go the best I could and enjoy the meal. For dinner, I ordered the Dry Aged New York Strip ($49). Mine was just OK. It honestly wasn't the best and slightly over cooked and had little flavor. If the server had asked I would have mentioned something. It was not bad, just Ok. I have had much better steaks at this location and other Capital Grilles. I get the same every time as it's a solid choice. My partner had the bone in rib-eye ($59). His looked absolutely amazing and he said it was perfect. He choose a glass of red wine that paired well with the steak. He was really excited about it. For the table sides we did the Sautéed Spinach With garlic confit ($11). This was something new to try and was good. Went well with the stakes and the other shared table side of the Sam's Mashed Potatoes($10). Really like that sweet cream they use in the potatoes as it adds a silky goodness to the dish. We concluded the meal with dessert. My partner had The Capital Grille Cheesecake($12). This is a favorite and is so good. I discovered the Coconut Cream Pie ($12) and went with something new. I loved this and it was such a highlight. It was heavenly. Almost all of the food was absolutely delightful and we loved everything from appetizer down to the dessert and coffee (aside from my steak comments). It was still a special night with good food and felt for our server, who was food, just busy. It wasn't like they worked us in and we spent way to much time waiting on food, looking around for sever. They were extremely busy but not the best dining experience. Our first visit at this location in Feb 2021 and is why I feel in love with the Capital Grill Franchise. I have since dined in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh with beyond perfect experiences. The experience this May (2022) in Indy was just ok and could use some improvement in service speed and guest interactions. Maybe my expectations were too high for this visit but all other experiences have been exemplary and stellar. Definitely don't let this one experience hold you back as it's really great food. I just have to be honest in the review of this visit. I really appreciated the extra touches for a celebration as they do here like a signed congratulations card, and they comped dessert and ended the evening with a glass of champagne to toast.
